Willow Bank in Liverpool

We happened to come across Willow Bank Tavern while visiting the city from South Africa to watch our beloved Liverpool FC play against Leicester City & Manchester United. Willow Bank Tavern came up in a Google search close to where we were staying. WHAT AN AMAZING PUB !!! It was such a good decision to go there, It is full of friendly people, the owners are lovely human beings, the pub is cosy and has a friendly family atmosphere, the food is fantastic and the service is excellent. There are a wide selection of ales and the pub was a highlight of my stay in Liverpool and I am looking forward to returning on my next visit to the city. THIS PUB IS SUCH A GEM...!

Very nice and cosy place we randomly found while exploring the city. Everyone we met from the team was super nice and friendly. The food is at unbelievably good prices and all very tasty. There are options for everyone, Gluten-free menu, vegan option, etc. The steak we ordered was delicious and perfectly cooked. They also have big selection of drinks, cocktails and beer. Definitely recommend!

Siempre la pasamos de lo mejor en el banco de sauce, pero NYE fue excepcional. Val y el equipo eran geniales, el ambiente era excelente. Brindemos por 2025 y más tiempo en el banco de sauces.

El personal es encantador amable y servicial nada fue demasiado problema el pub está limpio cálido y acogedor la comida era excepcional tuvimos una gama de entrantes principales y postres, incluyendo menú vegano y menú infantil y cada plato estaba muy bien presentado y sabrosa comida de calidad

Amazing atmosphere great food and lovely manager

Met with friends here for a lovely lunch together... Ok, we are OAPs but where else could you get a 2 course meal for £6.49? Good selection of draught beers. Food was very nice and service so friendly and helpful. Nice relaxed atmosphere with a variety of seating areas. Pay these lovely people a visit, you won't be disappointed!

Like going back in time with a comedian telling horrible racist, disableist 'jokes'. We left and won't be going back.

We went to the willow bank to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday. We had a meal and a few drinks. The manager, Val and chef Donna were extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome.

Fui a tomar una copa y decidí comprar las £ 5 construir una hamburguesa. Se equivocaron en el pedido, sin embargo cuando lo saqué y mostré mi recibo, salió el cocinero y sobre todo reemplazó mi hamburguesa por una correcta, que se veía y sabía fantástica. Definitivamente lo haré de nuevo.

Un buen pub con una buena selección de cerveza auténtica y la comida tampoco es tan mala. Un buen lugar para ver el fútbol también.

We were on our way home from Liverpool and wanted to have something to eat. So glad we found this place as the food was fantastic.

Our local, always fab for a stop off after shopping for drinks or 2/ a bit of a longer night, have had good acts on in the past and food is lovely and well priced a lovely roast lunch( I'm very fussy bout) . Staff I wouldn't call them that, they are all family from the lady in charge and each and every staff member

Been coming here for years as it’s my inlaws local and it has always been a fabulous experience- friendly atmosphere, lovely food and reasonable prices. I have recently been to two of the tribute afternoons they put on and they have been absolutely amazing and great value for money. Lovely pub, lovely food and lovely staff.

Had some lovely food at a very reasonable price

Came over for a family get together as my husbands cousin and his wife over from Australia so rest of family from london birmingham, southport us Bolton ,had a good afternoon, Steven organised Food to have, we got there for one pm left at five thirty,.the staff were nice and friendly,

We were left quite disappointed today after our visit. This is somewhere we visit quite frequently for drinks, and it really is a beautiful pub. We have been really excited to go for food as I have heard great things. However the staff were very rude. When we arrived at lunch time we were told they weren’t doing food for half an hour, as the chef was on a break. Which is totally fair enough, we said we will come back. After we came back we had to wait another at least half an hour, but the way in which we were told was extremely rude. We were treated as if we were causing them a massive inconvenience for wanting to order food in a place which very openly advertises their food. We were told then food would start again at 2.15pm, when this time came we went up to order and asked nicely if we were able to order, the lady snapped at us and said ‘yeah but there will be a long wait’ and rolled her eyes. Every time we interacted we were just spoken to with such dismissiveness. When the food came the roast potatoes were burnt, so we couldn’t eat them. But we were lucky to even get food as one of the couples we were with got sent back three times when trying to order. Firstly they didn’t have any more beef, then when he went straight back up they now didn’t have any roast dinners, then when he went back up a final time after consulting with his girlfriend on what to eat he was told they were not doing any more food. After being up three times trying to order. They had to leave and go somewhere else whilst the rest of us ate our food. Having a background in hospitality I can totally appreciate when a place is busy and stressful, however I would never dream of treating my customers the way we were treated, regardless of stress. This all being said, we still really like the pub as a whole and probably will be back as we can appreciate it was perhaps an off day. I just think it is important that this is addressed.

Just got home after work drinks with the other half. Never been here before and was pleasantly surprised. Lovely pub, good beer, great atmosphere. Staff very polite and helpful. Checked the menu out. Will definitely return for a meal . !!

I came with some friends for Sunday roast, brilliant food and price. Great selection of drinks and very friendly and helpful staff with great knowledge of the local area. We will definitely be returning when I am next in the area!

Visiting the area for the day. Popped in for something to eat (3 adults 3 children) Friday lunch time. Got to be honest was a little unsure when walked in as gave a proper local old man’s pub vibe however went ahead with ordering food. Food was lovely and very reasonably price and it’s the first time ever I’ve ate anywhere that has ensured kids food was bought out first ! I wish more would follow this!!! Staff were lovely too, interactive with us all lovely and friendly (customers in there too was friendly and chatty) Lovely atmosphere lovely people lovely staff

Popped in Tuesday and had a fantastic time. Pub was quiet as the students have all but left. The bar team were great. Food was spot on as always and at £2.50 a pint wow....

Lovely young lady think her name was Jodie, she made my night so helpful and all smiles. Made a lovely cocktail or a few for us. Can’t wait for our next visit hopefully she’s working that day. Food was spot on also.

Called for a quick tea after bringing eldest back to University. Food was ok and staff friendly, but I’m not impressed by the staff allowing an obviously 13-15 year old girl vape with her mum while they had their food. Surely they should have said something.

Been to few tribute acts at this venue atmosphere service and fantastic always have a really good time and would definitely recommend anyone to go for a quiet drink or a time when they have acts on 😊👍

Établissement coquet un peu en retrait d’une rue qui ne l’est pas tellement. Repas de midi un lundi de fin janvier, très peu de clients. Surtout de la clientèle locale. Personnel très avenant. C’est un pub, un restaurant et selon les jours, une salle de karaoke, un lieu de diffusion de matchs, etc.… La carte est étoffée avec plein de photos et il y a plusieurs possibilités d’avoir un prix réduit en combinant certaines commandes. Nous avons testé la saucisse cumberland servie sur une « tarte » et garnie de pommes de terres et « peas », la formule breakfast très complète (oui, servie toute la journée!) et le « hunter’s chiken ». Tout était copieux, servi rapidement dans des assiettes chaudes. On en a eu pour 44 euros avec 3 pintes, donc excellent rapport qualité prix. Nous y reviendrons certainement à l’occasion d’une prochaine virée sur Liverpool.

Been here a couple of times, the food is lovely and reasonably priced and the staff are great. The only issue I have is the food is hot and I can't shovel it in quick enough! Lol. Will definitely be back. Going to try a roast.

Booked the Willowbank tavern for Christmas Dinner for 30 people. Amazing service absolutely lovely and so accommodating when we had people coming late! Food was good value with large portions!

This evening we three senior's enjoyed a three couse special at The Willowbank Tavern. We were made so welcome on a cold November night and could not have wished for a better service. Once ordered, our food arrived promptly, was piping hot and absolutely delicious which together with the reasonable price ticked lots of boxes! A special mention to assistant manager Shannon and chef Donna who were attentive, friendly and clearly hard working. We look forward to visiting again - Thank you.

We went to watch a Tom Jones tribute in the Willowbank had a fantastic afternoon well worth the money the food was great and Tom was brilliant had good fun everyone up dancing can't wait for the Motown tribute in October well done Val and your fantastic hard working team

Lovely tea out with the family. We were one of the last tables from which looked to be a long hot day for the chef! She was lovely and accommodating for the kids, and it was empty plates all round. Lovely affordable pub grub. Thanks so much. It’s a tough game in this heat.

Found on a website that they screened the F1 race but was told that forth tier football was “a priority”, the food was a okay and the staff was not the nicest.

We love the Willowbank ! Food is amazing, great value and always freshly prepared and caters for all age groups. Booze wise compared to most pubs (including Wetherspoons) is ridiculously inexpensive. The staff are very friendly and as an older couple we always feel welcome.

I arrived at the willow bank on a busy Satursay afternoon staff were extremely friendly had a good laugh with the guys behind the bar and after a few drinks me and my gfdecided to get some food I ordered it and it came out really promptly and tasted great with an extremely reasonable price. Atmosphere was great ! Managed to speak to the landlord Val I believe her name was, she was lovely spoke to and my gf about the area. Would highly reccomend to anyone in the area for good food great atmosphere and great value for money

We visited the pub lastnite for a family meal on our last nite of our holidays.from the minute we walked in val was so rude to us she didn't want to cook us any food and even told us that.when the meal arrived it was a total disgrace the Gravey was cold after we pouting it over what was meant to be a meat pie you could only describe as a lump of very dry pastry.the fish and chips arrived with two pieces of fish with six or seven chips on the side any one thinking of dining here avoid at all costs.they should not be allowed serve food the way it was presented to us.and if val dosent want to cook close the kitchen and learn how to treat paying customers with some respect we will definitely not returning on our next visit.

It's a proper pub with cask ales, bar and lounge and half decent decor. There are plenty of TV's to watch the football too. They serve food but I've not tried it as yet. Some of the regulars in the bar could do with a lesson in personal hygiene tjo.

The Willowbank is a great little pub with really friendly staff who are helpful and I can always have a laugh with them.

As a regular at the Willow Bank I find the staff friendly and accommodating. They are always helpful and it's a great atmosphere especially when the football is on.

The pub as a whole is nothing short of perfect. The staff offer a warm,friendly welcome and are attentive to the varying requirements/ needs of customers at all times. The drinks options are extensive(I drink real ale and am seldom disappointed by the range on...

We went to The Willowbank for my birthday lunch. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious with good size portions. The apple crumble and custard was amazing Thankyou for making my birthday special

Have recently discovered this pub as my son is at Uni close by. It is our firm pub of choice. All staff are lovely and welcoming…even to our dog. Value for money is a must and this pub delivers! The food is excellent…the best food out of all Greene King pubs visited. We will continue to be regular visitors! It is disappointing to see such a negative review below. I am aware of the circumstances that day and no one would complain if they understood the situation. It’s a shame people are quick to complain without considering there may be an extremely good reason for an unexpected closure. I would highly recommend a visit and you will not be disappointed with the food!

Pub promised it would be opening its doors at 9:30am for every 10am kick off for World Cup as it stated on the home page of their website. 10 of us turned up at 9:30 excited to watch our country Wales play, however we couldn't...

Had a gathering for an 80th birthday party there. Staff were endlessly patient and pleasant as we got settled. Food was good and plentiful and excellent value. We had a great time and will be back !!
