There was no pistachio available and no truffle. We also ordered focaccia and what arrived on our table was ordinary bread. I mentioned this to the waitress and yet she still charged us for focaccia. This typified her very offhand service. On the plus side, the arrancini was tasty and the mushroom pasta was nice. Pretty disappointed.

I took a pasta della nonna, it’s is pasta whit meatballs and tomato; my friend took a truffle portobello. Very good! The sauce was fantastic and the service very precise. I advise this place, if you want try something from Sicily, but modified to English cuisine. The dessert are very good. I definitely come back. Thank you for this experience.

Food was wayy overpriced for what it was. We ordered the meatballs and the mushroom pasta and they both tasted bland and uninteresting, the meatballs were also tiny compared to what was shown in the restaurants pictures. There was a hair in our drink as well!! I wouldn't be complaining if the food was cheap but for £18 - £20 a dish it was an absolute rip off, save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else!

We loved the food here, it’s an authentic Sicilian taste with high quality ingredients and simply cooked, absolutely delicious! The staff are excellent and really friendly and I even had the opportunity to practice my Italian with Claudio who was very patient with me! It’s a great little place and we’d love to eat here again ❤️

I don't normally write reviews for restaurants but I had to say something because of how disappointing the experience was. The service and ambience were fine, the main issue is the food. Firstly, there was a long black hair in our iced latte. Secondly, The pasta was as bland as a ready meal. I'm not sure if there was a new chef working but there was barley any flavour in the Tagliatelle truffle portobello or polepettine della nonna that we ordered. I was shocked, the ragu felt like a cheap jar of sauce. The aranchino actually had flavour compared to the other to dishes but it was only ok, not worth £10 for a single aranchino. Thirdly, the pictures of the meatballs on there goodeats website are three/four times the size of what you actually receive in the polepettine dish. Again, this has made me curious if the ingredient and chef quality fluctuates as some reviews the meatballs do look that size. But from October 2024 they were the barley the width of a pound coin. Pasta being overcooked and bland at a 16+ per dish price point is pretty dire. I feel bad leaving criticism on a local business, but they need to make improvements to continue charging the prices they do. I am perfectly aware these dishes are not intended to have intense flavours, but subtly is no excuse. You couldn't even taste any pepper, onion, parmesan, parsley, basil etc - all i could taste was faint watery tomato for the polepettine or thin watery bechemel in the tagliatelle. For the price point this restaurant is not worth it.

Very small but very busy restaurant which would benefit from having more than one server. My daughter & I went for the "Sicillian Street Food" selection, which was delicious and very reasonably priced. When we eventually got seated & given our menus, the server asked if we would like some water whilst perusing the menu. I replied "yes", thinking that it would be the usual jug of tap water. I was surprised when we were served bottled water, which was already open and cost £4! Whilst the food was very reasonably priced, they certainly make their profit on the drinks, which were extortionate. I would definitely go again but not have a drink.

We had researched somewhere in Manchester that would be a lovely end to my daughters graduation after 3 hard years at university. On booking in advance we were able to have the main menu at a slightly discounted price that included a pre-paid service charge. On arrival at the restaurant we were met by a gentleman who appeared to be irritated that we ere booked. He just pointed to a table and told us to sit down. This was the start of one of the worst customer service experiences I have experienced. Throughout the evening staff were abrupt and did not smile at any point, despite our attempts to be friendly. Whilst the small nature of the restaurant could create a nice ambiance this is impacted by the fact that at many tables you are elbow to elbow with customers behind you, obviously the staff attitude also negates any 'cosy environment'. The food itself was very poor. It is possibly the blandest meal I have had. My starter was dry and tasteless. I then had the ragu. This could have been from a tin as it was very runny with minimal meat content and over reliant on the juice from the tomatoes. Dessert was no better than a Farm Foods frozen gateaux. My daughter and her friend did not finish any of the courses. As I did not want to upset anyone in our party I left my verbal feed back to the minimum, but when asked why I only felt the meal was fine, I did point out the customer service, which was greeted with a shrug. On leaving I was approached wit the offer of 10% off my next visit, which I declined advising that I would not be returning. I am aware of quite defensive responses to reviews of this establishment, and recognise I cannot do anything about that, but I hope that my feedback may change the future experience for others, either by Sicilian NQ making changes or informing future customers in advance. I was so disappointed for my daughter.

Perfect little place, fit for any occasion except large groups, as it is quite a small intimate setting. Feels and looks very authentic, staff are polite and friendly too. The food itself is fantastic, we didn’t try the desserts but those around us that did looked very pleased. Probably best to book in advance as only a small place and we did see several people being turned away. Want to impress on a first date or treat a loved one, then bring them here.

Booked here as had seen some articles recommending it. We arrived and were rudely pointed in the direction of our table without any welcome. The table was very small and crammed in. I was aware that the seating was high stools and that the restaurant was small but I wasn't able to eat my meal without knocking the person who was sitting behind me which is not acceptable. The service we received was awful. The staff were churlish and rude, any questions were answered abruptly, food was just pushed in front of you and we were generally made to feel as if we were an inconvenience. The food was bland and uninspiring - my Arancini was cold in the middle, the Ragu was completely tasteless and the Tiramisu dull. We pre-booked the meal and so had a deal on the three courses - had I paid the listed price for the food I would have regarded it as extremely overpriced. This was a meal for us as a family after my daughter's graduation and unfortunately it resulted in a bitter end to a special day. I have seen some of the responses from the restaurant to other bad reviews justifying people being crammed in as part of the ambiance and chalking the staffs attitude down to how busy they are. It costs nothing to smile and be civil to paying customers surely!

I’ve been meaning to visit Sicilian NQ for a while now, so as unfortunately I’m unable to dash back to Rome, where I used to live, eating their gnocchi whilst sitting at the bar with a delicious glass of Nero d'Avola was the next best thing. I also greatly appreciate Claudio and Carmen being so helpful and purchasing a ramp for wheelchair access when requested. The only disappointment was that they had run out of tiramisu, which I'd been really looking forward to, so I'll need to go back soon! Grazie mille!

A family run deli that has been going for years and years and that in itself deserves huge credit. It’s difficult to know where to start with this review so I’ll start with the sandwiches. The sandwiches are constructed straight in front of you with ultra fresh ingredients and a great choice of fillings. In my opinion the sandwiches are a thousand times better than any local deli and even M & S can’t compete in terms of freshness or flavours. The staff making the sandwiches do so excellently and are always polite and smiling. The muffins are always fresh, soft and spongy and at £2 for 6 of them, they are a bargain and much better value than those in the supermarkets. My guilty pleasure is the scones, especially the cherry ones, which are on a different level and again in my opinion you would not feel disappointed if you were served them in a prestigious high end restaurant. Overall, there’s a reason this business has been going for years and hopefully it will continue to flourish and attract a lot more visitors and repeat customers!

Myself & my family have been customers of Williams Stall inside Ashton-under-Lyne Market Hall for over 20 years and have always found their produce very nice, but today 26 February 2024, I purchased a Meat & Potato Pie £2.60 it was possibly the worst pie I have ever tasted, full of grizzle and very fatty, I had a couple of mouthfuls and the rest ended up in the bin, they used to be the best at what they do, put sadly on this occasion, it was awful... Visited on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was really cold and the chairs are a choice of wooden hard chairs or high stools. We ordered a bottle of the house wine bit were told that they didn't have any meaning we had to pay an extra tenner for the BB ext option. Whilst the starter was tasty enough th we y we're expensive at 8.50 for an arancini. The mains were incredibly overpriced with 15 pounds for a vegetarian ravioli that was served on a starter sized plate. The mains all seemed quite samey..tomato based dishes unlike the last time I visited when they had some Sicilian pistachio specialities. I wouldn't go back due to lack of comfort and unreasonable prices for what you get.

I checked out Confidentials and saw that a £20 voucher gets you a £40 spend here.I chose the Mr Mount Etna and Mushroom Volcano: these are both Arancino (rice ball) mounds with beef and mushroom fillings respectively. It could be that I ordered dishes that were too similar, (nothing else on the street food menu really excited me) but eating these became something of a chore. The texture was stodgy, and the taste muted by the thick breadcrumb coatings. I was bored of the Mushroom Volcano almost halfway through it.Overall, it was a three-star experience for me- I’m not a fan of high seats and the drinks were not cheap- but since my friends rated it quite highly, it only seems fair to offer a four. I’d sooner visit other eateries before returning, though.

Incredibly disappointed by my experience at Sicilian NQ. Our table was booked for 08:30... restaurant is incredibly small, nowhere for anybody to sit down whilst waiting for a table ( a couple of bar stools but otherwise you are waiting in the restaurant basically stood on top of people who are already eating with limited space with a large volume of other people who are waiting to be seated). After waiting we asked for the menu so that we could order a drink at least (if we hadn't have asked for the menu - I'm pretty sure the staff would've just ignored us)- it was 09:15 by the time we got our drinks. They attempted to put us on our table for 09:15.... the tables are incredibly small -a family of four cannot fit on these tables - they are terribly unorganised. They shouldn't be taking bookings for four people ... they only have one table in there which would comfortably sit 4 people. Due to the lack of space and lack of organisation we decided not to eat at the restaurant. The lady who worked at the restaurant (assuming she was front of house)- we found rude and unhelpful. The bar staff much nicer and far more apologetic. Limited food menu.

We decided to try this place after walking past many times and it always looks busy, so we thought it was worth a try. Booked a table and was told as a table of two we were limited to a hour as it gets busy at weekend. When we arrived we waited about 10 mins before getting seated. I was a little taken aback at our seats, which were uncomfortable bar stools facing the wall. There were people waiting all down the middle of the bistro which meant you had people literally standing over you. However there was a good atmosphere and we decided to just go with the flow. Staff were busy and ot took a while for our order to be taken and then the food to arrive. The food was very tasty indeed, but the portions were quite small. For a dish that cost £14 it worked out a £2 per ravioli which is steep. The cake I had for dessert was £7 which again is expensive. The prices here are comparable to The Ivy which upon reflection is too expensive for what it is. My advice would be to sort out the booking process so that there aren't so many people stood waiting, some comfortable chairs and increase you portion sizes or drop the prices a little.

I never write these reviews but I thought this time it was worth it as I had the worst restaurant experience ever. As a starter, I have ordered mushroom aranchino and I can't complain about it as it was alright. However, I have ordered 'Montealbano ate your heart' which was supposed to be pasta filled in with ricotta cheese. I am vegetarian and this dish was marked as vegetarian so I felt safe to order it. However, once I tried it I realized that pasta was filled with FISH! This is completely unacceptable and luckily I don't eat fish because I am a vegetarian and not allergic to it which in other cases could kill people. I told the waiting staff about it and they confirmed that I was given fish filled pasta by a mistake and suggested to order same or different main. I was not comfortable ordering same main again in case there was fish again so I ordered 'Tagiatelle porcini'. Honestly, it was one of the worst pastas I had as it tasted like pasta with a couple of mushrooms tossed in tin spaghetti hoop sauce. The only good thing about this evening was aranchino and limoncello. I wouldn't come back here again and I would not recommend it to anyone who has dietary requirements or just likes nice pasta.

We went for a date night out which we later regretted. The waitress was friendly enough but didn’t have a clue on cocktails. The girl behind the bar obviously didn’t either as all 4 cocktails that we ordered were absolutely disgusting. With most of them not having the right shots added. I don’t know whether they had ran out of certain spirits but the concoctions that were being made were not drinkable. We then decided to have a bottle of over priced wine. The food wasn’t much better. Dry pasta. That had obviously been kept warm under a heat lamp. My dish that I ordered was supposed to have beef ragu came out with a tomato ravioli! And tasted like I could of tan Dow to Aldi and whipped it up myself. Totally disappointing in all ways especially the £100+ bill. The mark up on food is ridiculous and the bar staff obviously need training because the drinks are horrific. It’s like going on I’m a celebrity! God knows what’s in there? Definitely need to avoid

When I asked for a table they just said “sorry we’re full”. We swiftly left as we were not going to spend our anniversary in this way. This was ridiculous. What’s the point in booking a table if you’re asked to sit at the bar on stools. We then spent the next 2 hours trying to find somewhere decent to eat on a Friday night. Very unhappy, will never return and will tell everyone else to do the same.

Nice enough food, no atmosphere whatsoever. It's really hyped up on social media so I was really looking forward to trying this place! Looks very aesthetic from outside with the wisteria. Cramped tables inside with no stand out decor or ambiance, the lady who seated us didn't have much "presence" and I had to look around gormlessly to get a menu sent our way! Food was nice, I had the pistachio pasta, it sounded more exotic than it really was. Pasta was a little cold, this was deceptively hidden by a warmer sauce over the top! My mum had a lot bigger portion of her beef ragu pasta. We had picked things off the menu online only to find out there were things no longer on the menu in actuality. We'd really wanted to try the pistachio cake, but on the menu it only listed chocolate cake and cake of the day, asking the customer to ask what the cake of the day was. We hoped it would be pistachio, but it was the very same chocolate cake that was listed with the desserts! - why have it written separately?! We chose the pistachio brioche only to be told there was no pistachio, would a different flavour of cream be okay? Yeah, fine, maybe take it off the menu? Really overhyped and quite expensive!

I'm not sure whether we came on an off day but the food was so so bland. The arancini tasted of nothing and the texture and how scalding hot it was made us think it had been microwaved. The mains didn't taste of anything either which was just strange really (we don't have covid!). The food is really quite pricey too, especially for the quality. This is also just personal preference but the tall stools are uncomfortable and proper chairs would make for a more pleasant dining experience. Not sure if we just came on a bad day because I see a lot of 5* reviews, but first impressions matter and we won't be back.

I was excited to try this Bistro after seeing reviews and pictures of food on social media. Sadly I have to say that my partner and I were very underwhelmed by the whole experience. We both ordered Mr Volcano to start it arrived within minutes of us ordering and had clearly come straight from the microwave. The description of the volcano on the menu sounded mouthwatering! Sadly is wasn’t. There was nothing inside except rice! It was served quite blandly on a small amount of tomato sauce. Next we had the Swordfish ravioli. I literally ate 3 pieces. The pasta tasted like cardboard and I can’t be 100% it had ever seen a Swordfish! The parcels were hard and very flat with little filling and presentation was almost non-existent. For dessert my partner had the pistachio cake which he said he really enjoyed. I had the brioche bun that came with two blobs of ice-cream of my choice. Whilst the bun was edible it didn’t look anything like the pictures I had seen when it was served to me. The ice cream was really nice. We had two cocktails both of which were very good and priced reasonably for the city centre. Sadly there was no vibe, that could have been because it was the afternoon but the waitress didn’t help. Sadly she had no personality, didn’t engage with customers and just stood around at every opportunity. It did feel a little uncomfortable to be honest as I did catch her staring at us on a few occasions. Uncharacteristically for both myself and my partner, we didn’t leave a tip. The waitress just didn’t work for it. At one point we had no cutlery and had to ask. At no point did she come over and ask if everything was ok or did we need anything else. There was no condiments and we wasn’t even asked if we needed any.

However the stand out dish was ‘her majesty cannolo’ this dessert is to die for! If you get to visit this place this is dessert is a must. Aperol spritz a plenty also! Will definitely be visiting here again if only for the cannoli!!

This was our first visit to Sicilian NQ and unfortunately I don't think we'll be going back. The food was expensive (£16.50 for some ravioli - I'd expect a nice piece of sea bass at that price) and it didn't taste worth it. The arancini we had as starters were re-heated but not very well, so they were still cold in the middle. I'd heard a lot of good things about this place so we were quite disappointed. Outside seating arrangements were three metal tables/chairs for two people, no heaters or umbrellas in case of rain (luckily the rain held off!). On arrival, we were told the previous diners were still there and asked if we could come back in 5 minutes which we did, not a problem. Towards the end of the meal, there were people waiting for our table so we felt pressure to leave (not from the waiter, just from people standing around). I understand that things are difficult at the moment so don't want to make things harder with a fully negative review. The service was good, and our waiter was very friendly. The wisteria decoration outside is cute too. Some improvements that would make us consider coming back would be:- adjusting the menu prices - thoroughly reheating the arancini- warming the plates so food doesn't go cold straight away- providing umbrellas / patio heating- extended dining time to avoid knock-on delays

We’ve been going to this place a lot but anytime we went the prices were higher and higher. 7£ for an arancino is a travesty, they are frozen and maybe shipped from Italy where they cost 1 euro. Even if they are not, making an arancino is easy and cheap. Please be more realistic with your prices.

The food was very underwhelming, the pesto gnocchi was very much like the rubbish pesto you get in a jar. It was very basic and overpriced including the Black Forest slice of cake which was very dry for £7. The side salad didn’t come with any dressing and they don’t have olive oil and vinegar on your table for you to use if you’d like. I wouldn’t recommend here, especially if you love your Italian food. Plenty of others for better value and quality in Manchester.

I booked here well in advance and my booking was moved forward by a day, I was offered free drinks to compensate for this (which I didn't receive).I didn't mind waiting for a table as I could see it was busy. We were seated at a table with an empty bottle of hand sanitizer. The waitress took our order and forgot our order by the time she got to the till which was about 2m away. We ordered our starter and then were offered a dessert menu once we'd had a starter... we then got both our mains at different times. The gnocchi was underwhelming and looked nothing like the Instagram photos. I've made better Italian food at home. Our plated were taken away without anyone asking how the food was. We decided to just pay and leave at this point as I was quite disappointed with the service and the food...

Visited here with a friend last week, post lockdown. The food was amazing- the Arancini are delicious (we got 2 and shared) and the potato cake main was really good. The menu isn’t huge, which I actually liked. We both loved it and thought it was great value for money. The gelato is a must for a dessert and although we didn’t drink, the cocktails looked great!

Had the best evening at Sicilian, thanks so much to all the staff who made us feel safe & welcome. The food was amazing (we ordered too much as we couldnt decide!). Would recommend the pistachio arrancini. Cocktails were great too. Staff couldn’t have done enough for us. Will definitely be back! Only downside was we wanted to tip the staff but they couldn’t accept tip via card and we didn’t have any cash on us as most places won’t accept it at the moment due to COVID.

My partner and I had a reservation for Saturday Evening which he had pre booked prior to the evening. On arriving to the venue, we were told that our table had been given away as the manager had called to confirm the booking but we hadn’t answered. My partner explained that a) his phone had been out of use unfortunately that week b) the initial booking did not state that we had to confirm any further or to make a deposit as she was advising. This was the first weekend out of lockdown and we were then expected to stand out in the rain on the street to find a further reservation. The manager was not understanding at all and didn’t care less that she had inconvenienced us.

No volvería
