Williams Inn in North Devon

After a fairly long drive from Penarth stopped off intending to have a coffee before getting to Croyde. We were tempted by the carvery which looked delicious. Decided to make it our main meal. Lovely choice of 3 meats and fresh vegetables. Very good value at £12:95 , Monday to Friday lunch time. Very busy there with good car parking and toilet facilities. Would recommend.

Very average carvery. A lot of flies in the dining area - had to wait a few minutes for staff to carve, whilst waiting lots of flies landing on the food! Staff totally disinterested in whether we enjoyed the meal. No one asked or cared? Don’t get me wrong, at a carvery we didn’t expect a one to one experience. However, some type of customer service would have been nice. Didn’t stay for dessert as no one bothered to ask if we wanted any. A disappointing visit this time, the place looks all that …. Sadly it isn’t - we had travelled quite a distance to get a luke warm carvery with a luke warm ambience. Won’t be returning anytime soon. Like most places with a good reputation - it sits back and rides on it, instead of maintaining it. Pretty poor.

This is a popular place, its bank holiday weekend and the restaurant was busy. There were plenty of staff though and we were served drinks very promptly to our table. We all had the carvery which everyone really enjoyed. The beef was so tender, some of the best I’ve eaten at a carvery! There was a great choice of lots of veggies including cauliflower cheese, roast parsnips, braised red cabbage and all the usual carrots, peas, broccoli etc plus roast and boiled new potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. Couldn’t fault it! We will definitely be back.

Lovely thatched roof no pub which looks lovely from the outside so we were looking forward to our meal. It was busy inside and we went to the bar as had our dogs with us. Staff busy but very inattentive and didn’t even make eye contact while we were stood waiting to be seated. Two staff behind bar were looking about but we were just ignored. Food when ordered came quickly and partners burger good. My vegan option awful. A Quorn burger in a dry roll with lettuce. So dry I couldn’t eat it. . Chips nice and was a very basic salad on the side. Once food arrived no staff asked how it actually was so seemed no care about the actually quality of the food. Shame as venue promised so much but food and service let it down.

Lovely pub, friendly staff & great food. Often a struggle to get gluten free food when eating out being a celiac but there were lots of choices & were very accommodating.

We booked a table for Sunday evening to celebrate my birthday while in the area on holiday. Although the restaurant was very busy we had a lovely evening. We liked the choice of meals as well as the carvery. The vegetables were cooked well and were al dente! The lamb shank was excellent. Portions were generous and the staff were very efficient and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Great food, great service, just what we needed after 10 days of chips, burgers, and pizzas. I was torn between the good-looking carvery and the lamb shank but so pleased I went for the lamb hubby had the same, and we both said it was delicious. The kids said the spag bol was nicer than daddies!! They were super busy, with flow and turnover of tables. We are staying at Woolacombe Bay, and Margeret (receptionist at Easwell Farm recommended this place). It's a bonus we could take our pooch in too. We will definitely eat here next time we visit North Devon on our holidays. Thank you 😊

This venue was a regular place for us till a few years ago .COVID and other problems .put a stop to our visits ..called in on off chance about 14-00 hrs and they still fitted us in to the carvery although it was closing .. the food and service were excellent .and reasonably priced .other words just as good as it always was

Been to this restaurant for dinner and sat down at a table for 12, 8 adults 4 children, served quickly despite then being busy, carvery a delight along with the other picks from the menu, the cakes and ice cream at the end rounded off a lovely meal, this is our 4 visit in 2 years and is now our go to place when on holiday in Devon

I went to this local pub to me ,which I hadn’t visited for some years with friends to celebrate my birthday. We arrived at 7pm as last food order was at 9pm. We had the carvery food which is offered every day, it was excellent with a choice of 3 meats, and one of the most extensive range of vegetables I’ve ever seen, all at a reasonable price (and half price for a similar children meal.) The meat was of high quality and the man serving it was very friendly. We had a sweet which was well above normal pub standard, and coffee. The young waiting staff were polite. The landlord Mr Squire, was behind the bar in the restaurant area all evening but didn’t inter-react with his diners at all, which was a little surprising, and perhaps it would be nice just to acknowledge his customers who are spending quite a lot of money! My only real criticism was that the canned ‘music’ coming from the ceiling speakers was just too loud, and you had to talk loudly to be heard, something that’s easy to sort and would have made the evening much more pleasant. Would I recommend this place, yes if you want a good meal, and you’ve got children, and are used to noisy venues, but not if you’re looking for a reasonably quiet dining experience !

Would not bother with this pub they are disgusting they treated us like dirt looked down their noses at us and didnt even care that I was and am disabled definitely give it a big miss

Excellent pub/carvery. Easy to find as set back from main coast road to Woolacombe etc. No problem to park. We didn't book but we found space even though busy. Dog friendly. We had turkey and ham pie with roast potatoes , veg and gravy. Good size meal, very filling and we both left fully satisfied. Recommended. Lots of families there.

Excellent pub and we were allowed to bring our dog into the bar, to eat. My wife who is a vegetarian, had the mushroom stroganoff with rice and chips. I had lamb shank, with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. We both agreed they were the best we have had.

4 adults ate on 8th November 4pm 2 courses each & it was excellent, Curry, Pies, Pork Chops, all were delicious and not a scrap was left, followed by desserts of Peanut Butter Stack, Raspberry Glacé Meringue and Banoffe pie. OMG desserts were to die for.

Couldn't get a booking for the carvery in the restaurant, but the staff made space for us in the bar (4 adults and 3 kids). Drinks were reasonably priced as was the carvery. Bit of a queue as it was quite busy at 12, but it soon went down. Chef serving was great with the kids, making sure they all had fair share of all the meats. Adult portions were very generous and the large selection of veg and roasts on offer were piping hot. Cauliflower cheese was the best I have tasted and the thick gravy was also very tasty. All of us agreed it was the best carvery we have ever been too andy excellent value for money. Great job everyone at the Williams Inn. 5 stars!

We popped into the Williams Arms as a group of 11 and very happily got seated quickly. 5 of us ordered carvery and it was amazing. Fresh vegetables and some beautiful meat choices. A shout out to "John" whilst our family had their meals both myself and my friend hadn't eaten and where waiting in a long line for the carvery but John helped us to the front of the queue! Amazing service and excellent food will definitely return when back in North Devon. Thanks again.

We were a group of 7 ranging in age from 73 to 10. We had a range of dishes and all of us were extremely satisfied with what we had. My own choice was the 3 meat salad. Extremely good quality meat, fresh salad, a very generous portion and very decently prized. Generally there was nothing fussy or pretentious about the meals but all were good, honest, well presented food. Only the teenagers managed a dessert - a huge piece of chocolate gateau which again surpassed expectations. Service was friendly and fast, ambience lively but not OTT. A great little find! I wish we lived nearer...

My friend, myself and Aunty visited today. My friend Sue Clarke booked in advance and we are so glad she did. The staff were amazingly friendly and the carvery the best we have ever had. Great choice of Meat and vegetables.

Just had a great carvery and excellent value for money at the Williams Inn, Braughton. The pub / restaurant was absolutely packed with a queue, best to book. Will go again next time we’re local.

Stopped here on our way home from a week away. My wife had the beef stroganof and I had the game pie. Both were very tasty and reasonably priced. Lovely old fashioned pub with a traditional thatched roof. Worth a visit.

Had a really good carvery - the soup starter was good too and the whole experience was clearly better than the average toby carvery which has to be the minimum standard for carveries worldwide.

Bonito lugar para sentarse fuera en unos veranos cálidos noche para cenar. Comida un poco caro para un pub pero perfectamente abundante. El pastel de carne con cerveza es una torta cocida individualmente, cantidad razonable de carne pero contenidos en salsa. Turquía jamón y contenidos de tarta era mejor. No tenemos ninguna queja, pero nada que lo distinga. Esta fue nuestra segunda visita, así que tengo que decir algo.

La comida era bueno aparte del cordero, que estaba recocido, el servicio es un poco "independiente" y el precio era una buena relación calidad-precio. Puede elegir entre el restaurante que se especializa en asados o comer en el bar. una buena selección de cervezas y vinos. dicen que están en el top 100 Reino Unido pubs, parece un poco probable! Pese a todo lo anterior, volveríamos de nuevo.

Habiendo sido decepcionado con mis tres comidas anteriores en tres diferentes restaurantes en Somerset fue un cambio agradable para probar la rotisería aquí.

Reservé una mesa para mi familia en Williams brazos y estaba deseando que el asador debido a sus comentarios y ubicación. Sin embargo, nos encontramos con unos desinteresado camareros y se notaba que el personal generalmente estaban descontentos. El asador es demasiado caro por su frío/carne seca y tienen náuseas matinales a consumir verduras y el ambiente era aburrida. no nos dicen la camarera que no estábamos satisfechos, pero había una falta general de interés. ¡Qué pena!

Probamos la rotisería esta vez. Nos pareció que eran un poco tacaños con la carne hasta que pedir más, sin embargo realmente no se puede superar la relación calidad-precio. A £9.95 supongo que debemos tener en cuenta que este es un resort frente al mar, en casa la misma comida costaría alrededor de £5,95 - 6,95 £, aunque la 'Williams' es frecuentado por lugareños durante todo el año.
