We had lunch at Wilks today and had a great experience. The four courses and various extras were consistently excellent and interesting in their own way. The menu hung together nicely with seafood starring throughout paired imaginatively with various seasonal produce. At such a small venue you know you're getting the chef's full attention, and this really showed as all elements were perfectly cooked and presented. The wine flight was well worth it with interesting and sometimes unusual (in a good way) wines complementing each course well. James was friendly and made us feel very welcome & we apprecated the informal feel. Would love to return in the future.

Great food but freezing in the restaurant! If it’s a cold day prepare to stay wrapped up.

As frequent visitors to the previous incarnation of Wilks in Bristol, we were delighted to discover its reopening, now in Bath. We made the journey out and were not disappointed. There are some changes, of course- this is much smaller, more intimate set up- closer to chef's table experience than a typical restaurant. The quality of the food however, and the reason we returned, remains exceptional. We had a wonderful evening. I do agree with another reviewer that it was chilly inside!

After careful consideration, in July 2024 I booked all three tables at Wilks to celebrate my Father's 80th Birthday on November 30th. James was aware of the reason for our booking. Shortly thereafter I paid a deposit to secure the booking. The venue and food looked perfect and we organised a weekend in Bath around our dinner plans. Three hours before our scheduled arrival at Wilks James emailed me cancelling the reservation, blaming a flood in his kitchen that had caused an electrical outage. He relayed that people had been at the restaurant 'all day' to try and resolve the issue, but they had been unsuccessful. Having seen the email, I called James a number of times in order to get a better understanding of the situation. I even left a message offering for him to cook at the house we had rented. At no point would he answer the phone. I walked past the restaurant and chatted to some of his neighbours. The electricity was clearly on in the building and nobody was aware, or had seen and signs, of the electrical issues or the efforts to resolve them. Bath is extremely busy for the festive period, and securing an alternative booking for our party in the City Centre, at such late notice, proved impossible. Maybe if he had warned us earlier in the day things would have been easier. I clearly have no idea whether there were issues with the kitchen, but I do see that approximately a month before our failed booking another potential customer suffered exactly the same outcome and excuse. James did return my deposit on Monday 2nd December. Based on the facts that at least two people have been let down in the same fashion, and James was not customer-focussed enough to actually make or receive a telephone call to discuss the situation, I would suggest that people consider other restaurants in Bath before relying on a meal at Wilks.

Wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere, just generally a lovely place. The word that jumps to mind is “intimate”, but that doesn’t particularly do justice to this outfit. I would highly recommend for any food lovers in the area.

Where do we begin, thank you James for a fabulous evening! Food was some of the best we have tasted, the wine paring matched perfectly. Every single element carefully thought out and matched to create a gastronomical delight! A must try is the gin cocktail with raspberry sorbet.

Absolutely fabulous — a really special night out. Every course a fresh delight. The wine list finely honed. Best restaurant in Bath — and I’m a long term resident. For a really special treat this is impossible to beat.

This restaurant is truly exceptional. The food is outstanding. The 6 course tasting menu with wine pairings was faultless. It’s a tiny restaurant that’s has total focus on quality. The service is delightful and we felt it was great value too.

So excited to hear that Wilks restaurant is moving to Bath - the Bristol restaurant was amazing and we can't wait to visit this new venture! EDIT: we have now been and it was sublime! The detail on every element of the plate and every bit of presentation was amazing and delicious. We loved it.

We went for the lunchtime tasting menu and it was really good. My favourite was the scallops tartare with wasabi and apple. The sweetbreads were also delicious and all the dishes were beautifully presented with interesting and unusual ingredients (my first time for nettle soup!). Front of house was very welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine. Well worth a trip and we are lucky to have it on our doorstep.

Easily the only serious restaurant in Bath committed to authenticity. It takes dedication not to fall into the trap of complacency in an environment where you can probably get away with a significantly less than average effort (as is the case with most restaurants in Bath). They don't go easy on the spice either! There's no whitewashing of their dishes whatsoever. Enjoy!

What you see pictured is, apparently, £27.50 worth of Indian food. We ordered just two curries online - adding on +£8 for king prawns with the bhuna. Arrived to be told there was a mix up with the website not sending the order; they had no knowledge of it and we had to wait for it to be cooked. That's fine - they apologised, and we were in no rush. We had, however, been expecting two excellent curries at almost thirty quid for just two dishes. What we recieved - I've got to say - is further evidence to me that, most of the time, you're better off just finding a decent Youtube cooking channel and doing it yourself at home. No king prawns, either.
