Wilfrid's Cafe in Winchester

Lovely little cafe in Droxford... Today we arrived a little too late for lunch and missed the savouries, but the staff were happy to make a cheese sandwich for my son (which was very accomodating) and the tea is always lovely in the surroundings. We love this little cafe and occassionally travel from Portsmouth specifically for it. You won't find a regular food menu but there are always delicious handmade cakes and (earlier in the day) toasted sandwiches along (sometimes) amazing locally made soups. The staff are lovely and the church surrounding and history are a treat.

Just visited the charming village of Droxford, in Hampshire for a rather wet and flooded walk along the Meon river. As we were walking passed the church we decided to visit St. Wilfred's Cafe which is actually located inside the church. Very, very welcoming and run by community volunteers in an area which is a really clever use of space. Cosy and warm with homemade cake and really excellent coffee (at very good prices) with a background of classical music (no battling against a constant mind numbing beat!). The Church Heritage Exhibition is worth a visit, too. Lots of recent history. As we were leaving we could smell the delicious aroma of lunch, but alas we have lunch arranged elsewhere.....we will definitely be back.

Lovely ambience and service! Excellent cakes and toasties. choice of seating in a warm wing of the church or outside in the old churchyard. Don't walk past!

What a lovely little place. Fabulous coffees and a tea cake. A very warm welcome and unique surroundings being inside a beautiful church with such a rich history. A great stop on the way back from a lovely walk along the river.

Popped in after a long cold walk Lovely coffee, great crumpets and delicious lemon drizzle cake, all at really reasonable prices. Don't miss this lovely little cafe!

A delightful find for those who seek coffee and cake. Within the church it is set in beautiful surroundings with very attentive staff and a lovely walk outside if you need some fresh air and to walk it off.

Wonderful place to stop (was on my bike). Friendly staff, all volunteers, comfortable seating area, just perfect.

Super little community run cafe in the church with indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff and a nice lemon drizzle cake! A perfect place to stop if you’re walking along the river/old railway line.

What a wonderful find. Very atmospheric to be within the church itself.(which has a very interesting History) Friendly staff and we enjoyed our drinks and tasty toast and teacake. Worth a detour.

Lovely ladies serving coffee and cake- although we had a toasted teacake. Everyone was very friendly. We sat at the new picnic benches outside though there are tables inside too. Clean and inviting.

Right next to the church at the centre of Droxford, Wilfrids is a friendly place serving excellent hot drinks (and soup on Saturdays). They also sell takeaway drinks and cake - everyone’s a winner!

Enjoyed a soup lunch on Saturday, followed by excellent coffee and cakes. A great place to meet friends in a unique setting - a 12th century Norman church. Don't forget to check out the Heritage Centre before you leave and learn about Droxford's historic D-DAY story.

We enjoyed a wonderful time at this friendly cafe 10 days ago. Deiciously warming homemade soup followed by sumptuous cake. Our group of 6 was unanimous in their praise of the food and service. Definitely recommend and if I lived closer I would certainly be a frequent visitor!
