Wildgoose Ripponden in Calderdale

My son wanted to treat me to afternoon tea and as i am new to the area i wanted to try this place out . Decor and staff lovely. However the afternoon tea was average at best . If you like butter cream you may rate this higher as all the cakes apart from the scone were sickly butter cream types and you only get one choice of sandwich with no choice of bread (its all white). Even though the place was quiet they sat us on a cramped table right next to another table. They did however move us when asked. I would try this place again, to order off the main menu, but id avoid afternoon tea ( unless you like butter cream) .

Called in today with my partner and my daughters dog We got a warm welcome from Helen who gave the dog some treats We had a lovely sandwich and cake an very nice coffee Lovely place with lovely food and staff 5 star

Lovely service, regardless of the fact I was just ordering a takeaway cappuccino (which was incidentally lovely!). The menu looked fab, and the atmosphere inside was chatty and happy! I’ll return for a meal soon I hope!

Booked for breakfast. It's a lovely cafe and the staff are really nice. Coffee is great. Ordered the small breakfast and veggie breakfast. The scrambled egg on the breakfast looked very pale and tasted like it had been cooked with cream. Not to my taste and not eating dairy, it's a good job I went for poached eggs on my veggie brekkie, bit my husband liked it. Mine came with only one poached egg. I raised it with a member of staff and had to show her the menu to prove it should come with 2. She did sort it out and brought another egg, and apologised. The eggs were fine, but it's a personal thing that I don't like poached eggs that have been done in a poacher. Overall, the quality was good, plates could be a bit bigger, but the cafe is lovely. Given all that, I probably wouldn't make the drive out to go again.

Had the festive afternoon tea . I’ve never had a better afternoon tea than here (we’ve been twice now ) . The service is fabulous , the food is second to none and is definitely not run of the mill . Absolutely fabulous

Staying nearby at an Airbnb and popped in for brunch. Lovely, warm atmosphere and staff were very friendly. Quick service and food was excellent, we went for a large full english and the smashed avo. The portion size was good, and very reasonable priced. We are going to come back again this morning but for a take out this time to enjoy back at our accommodation.

Having been for lunch on numerous occasions we thought we would give breakfast a try.Unfortunately we all had a small breakfast for £9 and were really disappointed .I know we ordered small but what we received was minute and certainly poor value Won't be returning for breakfast.

We stopped off at this lovely cafe/bistro after a walk around the local reservoir with our dog.We had a lovely light lunch and the staff were very friendly and accommodating both to me and my husband and our dog.

Second visit and same experience. Staff are nice and food was good, but unfortunately extremely slow service. It took 50 minutes for the food to arrive this morning in a relatively quiet cafe. Appreciate phone orders, but expectations should be set on such a long wait. This was also the case previously and other people have mentioned this to me.

Fantastic service and food with a menu to suit all! Staff extremely attentive and will definitely be going back again!

Only spotted this place by chance as we were passing. Only wish we passed more often. Warm welcome, great coffee and fantastic panini. The top star is for the lovely staff. They tell me it’s not possible to buy their coffee on-line which means we may just have to go back!

Been wanting to visit for a while and managed to walk in I ordered a breakfast, which was lovely in flavour and a great balance. The only thing to make it better was if the sourdough toast had been warmer My wife had the cheese on sourdough with some bacon - the toast had been stood whilst the bacon was cooking but that sadly meant the toast was lukewarm - flavours again were lovely but such a shame wasn’t hot Great prices, lovely friendly service and a place we will visit again

We called in to this cafe while house hunting in Ripponden. What a find! We ordered two ham bloomers and Yorkshire teas. The food was exceptional. Homemade ham with free range egg was absolutely delicious. We didn't have room for a cake. We'll be back!

Highly recommend this lovely little coffee shop. Staff are very pleasant the choice of food was huge. We settled on the 5 mini Danish and what a treat for elevenses
