Shepherds Rest in Calderdale

Cracking hour or two in the shepherds rest today for the Ruchbearing parade. Proper packed out but brilliant atmosphere and great to see it doing well.

Expensive prices, the night we went it was cold. Open fire was almost out at 8.30pm. Not a great lover of open mike night.

I was told about this place when I stayed at the old post-office in Halifax, its a 10 min taxi ride costing 7.00 I found it to be out of the way, it was quiet and peaceful, usual bar drinks however I found it to be priced a little more than I thought over 4.00 for a pint, it has a nostalgic feel and this is quite obvious when you see 20/30s pictures, there is a shelf of pictures previous owners of which I found to be a nice touch, it has a larger seating are to the rear, for those sunny days (when ever that happens ) I would definitely say a yea old pub, I arrived on a Wed and was greeted by staff member who was polite and any question I had, he was more than happy to answer them. A nice night out .

Called in for a drink yesterday ( 7th Jul) And first time in under new management. Unless the man behind the bar with the beard finds some manners, will not be going back. No greeting, no smile, no please or thank you. No nothing. All he said was the price. So rude. That itself contributed to the lack of atmosphere. Good beers on sale though. Could be a nice place if it had half decent staff. Really poor all round and disappointing.

Traditional pub serving half a dozen casks and the usual drafts. More of a local type pub but OK. Give it a try if you're passing. Decent ale, pool table it's just OK.

New hands, and still the best the best pub in Sowerby Bridge.

It is always a pleasure to visit one of Ossett Breweries Pubs. Clean and pleasant surroundings with friendly staff and of course a good selection of traditional beers. And my pork pie was heated up for me.

Old fashioned local with great beer. Barman appeared to think I was disturbing his chat with his friends.

Good friendly local, the Ossett Blonde was the best I've tasted.

A good 'backstreet' boozer (on the main road). 3 beers on as we withdraw from C19.

Rude staff and owners. Used to be a lovely pub. Avoid.

Great pub, nice selection of beers and been very accommodating over the years when we’ve visited. Doesn’t seem that way anymore, the person who I assume is the manager, (kinda looks like Mini Ming the Merciless) was very rude even to the point of being aggressive to our group for no good reason. My advice would be to not move any chairs or heavin forbid move the dog bowl an inch. Will go elsewhere in future.

Good pub if you like your "real ale". If you are not a CAMRA buff its not for you. Cider was a bit ropey in my opinion.
