Came here last night the restaurant wasn't that busy we ordered our meals must say the food was amazing it's just the service which was a let down hence the ratings asked for dessert menu from the lady at 8pm and it never arrived so we left and went else where for a desert . Would I go back 🤔not sure . Had a reply from manager asking me to email them I have done so and no reply so definitely won't return.

The Wig and Walnut is a gem! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a fantastic selection of cocktails served by Jay! The food is delicious, and the overall vibe is perfect for a relaxing night out. Highly recommend this cozy spot!

Brought my neice and nephew here for lunch as a beginning of Easter treat and couldn’t have asked for a better spot. Great choices for myself and the kids. Nothing was too much and the waitress made sure that my nieces dairy allergy was well addressed. The kids were entertained with games and food was fast and tasty. Will deffo be returning as I seen they also do music nights so will be gathering the girls for a night out too. Special mention to Deanna (our waitress) as she was so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us

A lovely clean and tidy pub/restaurant, friendly staff upon arrival and a good atmosphere. Menu is varied, true to pub classics and executed well in the kitchen.

Dan the man. Brilliant service from Dan made our evening. Cheerful and excellent service, a credit to Marstins. Food was excellent well cooked and full of flavor. Plenty of parking and an added advantage was two Osprey chargers.

We tend to dine away from the local area, but wanted something local (and I think we’ll do this more in the future). We were very pleased with the friendly greeting and continued high-level service during our meal. Some people want to be left alone, but I really appreciate the small chat around the pro-functionary ‘ is the food okay?’ Question for example. It helps to make you feel like you are not just a table to be turned over. The food has been lovely with times we have been to the Wig and Walnut, and the food is reasonable value for the quality. Looking forward to our next visit.

Very welcoming staff , we were slightly early but this was no problem. Shown to our table and ordered our drinks. When drinks arrived we then ordered our food. This was served with a smile 😊 and was not disappointed with the quality.

It’s a shame this once local pub changed to a “gastro pub” as the friendly family feel has been replaced by a more formal, stiff atmosphere. That said it is much better now that there is a new landlord/manager in place. The staff are now much now friendly. New menu is good as is the quality of the food.

Signature burger with barbacoa beef is excellent, the skin on fries cooked superbly. Well stocked bar, comfortable surroundings and fantastic staff, friendly welcome on arrival can't really fault it.

Great staff, very friendly and good quality food

The staff were amazing but it's a real shame the food and portions don't live up to expectation. For a sunday roast my partner received 3 very thin slices of pork which was perhaps equivalent to ready slices chicken for sandwiches, really disappointing for a roast. We also ordered dessert and the crumble was soft and not very crunchy, overall food didn't live up to the best expectations sadly. The mocktails and non alcoholic options were great. This is the second time we have eaten here and both times a lot of the menu items were not available. It's a shame as the front of house really do go above and beyond, and it felt like they were put on the spot around things to do with the menu.

Lovely food and friendly staff.

Food is good albeit smaller portions than would have liked. Bit expensive to me. Child's meal for 15 month old arrived well after everyone else had finished but still expected to pay. (She couldn't wait and ate much of our meals whilst waiting). 2 drinks, 2 adult mains and a kids meal wit fruit shoot £51.

Sea Bass quite nice, roast lamb wasn't enjoyable, ham and leek pie very tasty but pastry a bit tough. Prices quite high. Desserts nice.

Lovely big pub , friendly staff will definitely return

First visit: Food took over an hour to arrive. It was very noisy. So much so that we couldn't even tell that there was a quiz going on via a microphone until we were leaving.

The decor has been upgraded, the menu too and having been there three times now since the Grange Inn became the Wig and Walnut, I'm very impressed. The service is excellent, staff polite friendly with a sense of humour, the food is excellent too. I'm definitely making it a regular choice when eating out. A great atmosphere, great food and beautifully presented. Staff especially Dan are so friendlyand helpful. It is a really lovely and comfortable place to eat and drink. We went Valentines Day and day by the fire, perfect night. Definitely recommend

My wife and I went there for our 36th Anniversary meal. We ordered main course and drinks. The service was good and meal arrived fairly quickly. Unfortunately, my main wasn't as well done as I asked but was ok. My wife's was slightly over done but again not too bad. We went to leave after a couple of hours and were met by the Manager as we were leaving. She asked how the experience was. We commented as above. She immediately apologized and asked if we'd care to stay on a while offering Cocktails as a gesture. We accepted and stayed longer. We were guided into another part of the building which was fantastically furnished and very comfortable. During that time, she offered us a return date to dine again. She also served us another drink before we left. We spoke to other members of staff who were all very friendly. It's only been trading a couple of weeks but I like the style. My advice? Give it a try.👍

Lovely seating, nicely laid out. Food was excellent, service was too. Prices reasonable. Good selection of music too. A good place to enjoy a meal out. Disabled friendly.

No so impressed with the place On 6th February. Went there for my birthday, ordered hunters chicken with chips. Chicken was dry and tough as was the chips. My granddaughters were not impressed either.

Nearly every option was unavailable, the menu was dire. We left after a drink and cancelled the meal, ate at another venue.

Lovely warm welcome, food was great. Relaxed atmosphere. Dan our server was brilliant.

First time visiting and it will probably be the last. Food was lovely but the staff weren't that great. After trying to catch someone's eye (unsuccessfully) we went up to the bar to ask for our bill. It arrived and we asked if we could split it on 3 cards. That was met with a sigh and a comment that we would have to go up to the bar to do it. We did and after the bill was paid (with a small tip) got a " ok thats done". A " thanks for your custom, or see you soon, or take care goodnight" would have been nice !

Nice pub and the food was good, but they didn't have about 50% of the menu. Some items were marked with a red dot to say they didn't have them, so we chose from the remainder of the menu, but then they also didn't have half of the stuff we chose. A fair amount of the drinks were out too. Service was slow, even though the pub wasn't very busy.

Overall, pretty good. Main courses were great, as were the staff. Only downsides were burnt Cauliflower Wings starters and the price of drinks seemed overly expensive compared to similar pub/restaurants.

Extremely welcoming pub and restaurant. A huge improvement since the refurbishment. Really well stocked bar if you are a gin lover and the menu caters for most tastes. The food was fantastic. The decor and atmosphere is comfortable, warm and inviting.

Sunday night, so quite quiet. Waiter attentive and polite. Felt sorry for him. So many things that we were on the menu turned out not to be available. What there was was okay, but nothing special.

Amazing service! We celebrated my dad’s 70th and his cancer-free news at the Wig and Walnut. The team couldn’t have been more accommodating and made our time at lunch so special. They even decorated the table with decorations and balloons I dropped off the day before. Brilliant team, great atmosphere, yummy food and lovely setting!

Thank you so much for this evening, unfortunately failed to get the name of our server but he literally could not have been more helpful or accommodating! I firstly tried to enter via the fire exit, he took this in his stride and let me in anyway! I asked for a table for three, which was fine. Except I had forgotten the “small people” and in fact had no idea who was actually coming! The table size eventually grew to 8, no problem! He even tried to help us find Wally in the Where’s Wally book!! Highly recommended.

Whilst it is our local pub in Grange Park, we haven't really used it much over the years, as it was a bit hit and miss. Decided to give it a go this evening for dinner with family. I was happily impressed. Service was prompt and friendly, the food across all the courses was well cooked and all came out nice and hot - which is something so many other places seem to struggle with. Lost one star because they had run out of Guinness.

We’ve just moved to the area and are walking distance to The Wig and Walnut, what a great pub to find. The staff are excellent and each one go above and beyond. We went to the New Years Eve party, it was incredible. I look forward to becoming a regular. Thank you 🙏🏻

Overpriced never again medium steak call the vet.chips not freshly cooked don't waste your money

Xmas dinner was much better last year felt very welcomed and food /service seemed much better such a shame & was the whole reason we came back this year. Definitely missed having stuffing and pigs in blankets that should have been included in the price of £75

We went to The Wig and Walnut today to enjoy a slightly late Christmas dinner and were served by Glen who made the experience so much better. It’s a shame there wasn’t an option to tip. Will come again!

As expected Xmas Eve was chaos, but hats off to the staff, after one of their own walked out leaving them seriously understaffed. Even with this shortage they still managed to cope with the chaos and although they missed one of our mains (only took 10 mins to rectify) the service provided was brilliant. Would thoroughly recommend and are definitely visiting again on New Years Eve. Many thanks to all there!

Lovely place to eat staff were very polite and food was excellent. Would love to know what the seasoning on the chips was as it was very nice.

Booked for Christmas Eve. Turned up and stood waiting for 15 minutes. No member of staff ever came. Went to the bar to check what was happening with the booking, and they had overbooked.

Booked for a family get together. Quick response to online booking enquiry - we had a party of 18 and was asked to pre-order, no problem at all submitting choices and making some changes. Food was good quality and hot and most importantly served together as best as they could with 18 people. Good ambience and set up re paying - would recommend

We are regulars at this lovely venue as we live nearby. We are having our third Christmas Day meal with them too this year. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming and the staff are very attentive. The food is very tasty , well presented and good value. What is there not to like ? . We would like to make special mention of Harry and Gabi, two gems in the team 👌👏.

Excellent food and the waiting staff made us feel very welcome throughout. Adding a surprise candle to my son's dessert as it was his birthday was a lovely touch. Thank you!

Just bad. Too much to write down, but the fact I had to step back from the bar because of the extremely poor personal hygiene of the server just says it all. Will be avoiding at all costs.

Greeted and seated immediately in a cosy spot. Dan knows we don't mind where we sit but placed us in a warm quiet spot. Drinks order taken and arrived quickly and were given enough time to look over the menu for our food choices. The food is always good here but this time it was spot on, I ordered the burger which I haven't had for a while and it was cooked to perfection. The onion rings were delicious and my husbands steak was cooked just as he would have had it at home. Didn't have room for a dessert this time but would recommend the W and W for couples, families, large groups as there is just such a good choice of food and drink. Staff are always really kind and helpful and know their regulars well too. They have quiz night and special offers on during the week and I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here. You can also have a giggle with the staff but they are never anything but professional and courteous

A girls catch up, the waiter gave us time to chat and look at the menu having to return twice before we were ready! Nothing seemed too much trouble he had a laugh with us without being intrusive . He knew all about the menu and when we asked to have off the specials menu but change it slightly he was very accommodating.

Good tasty food, which was hot as well, service great 👍.
