New manager has a very cocky attitude and appears to be alienating a lot of the locals. Hopefully a new manager will take over soon as it has always been a great pub and our local but we won't be going in now. In reply to your response I do know what he said to you. He was angry because you called him a liar. That is not the way to speak to customers.

First time visiting under the new management, my partner and I tried one of the local ales and it had that fizzy tang of a really bad kept ale. It is a real shame because when it was a microbrewery the ale was fantastic.

Nice pub with their own beer brewed on site. Not sure if they do food.

Great olde world style pub. Great selection of beers and ciders. Camra discount. Dog-friendly with a great beer garden, and weekly pizza oven. Also sells lovely home-made cakes. Fantastic beer festivals.

Great local pub. Has lots going on. Food served is snack food including home made sausage rolls and cakes..delicious!! Also home made pizzas outside to eat in or takeaway (not sure if it's seasonal and only on certain days). Nice outside space with a couple of little shelters and plenty of wooden tables and gated grass area.

First time I've been in the white lion for ages ,it was very busy ,but got served quickly ,a good atmosphere .

Lovely staff and customers. Not really wheelchair friendly or any clearly marked disabled spaces. I can imagine when the car park is tidied the outside area is lovely. Though the rear area isn't the best for mobility impaired customers. So the front door is best.

Excellent, friendly pub with a micro brewery attached. Only about 10 minutes walk from Long Eaton station. Definitely worth a visit when in the area.

As always a good selection of beers and great bar snacks, but as as a responsible dog owner all dogs should be on a lead in all areas including the garden , sorry your response is not helpful, the garden area is not a public play area and not everyone likes dogs or their dogs like other dogs running up too them, your garden is not a private area

I went to the Farmers market held on the 3rd Saturday of the month in the carpark and didn't go into the pub itself. However, the Farmers market was nice, plenty of jam, honey, sausage rolls, rum, bread, cakes, cakes, cakes, fudge and many many craft stores. Nice atmosphere, if you want to sit in the beer garden have a pint and eat lots of lovely food you can't go far wrong.

Great family and dog friendly pub! Amazing bar snacks - fresh sausage rolls, cobs and baked goods They also have on sight food vendors on the weekend - fresh pizza and Mac and wings Great selection of real ales. I’d really recommend this pub if your in the local area.

Great real ales lovely relaxed atmosphere

Called in as we were passing and 6 of us ended up staying all night 3+ hours. Proper banging out back, great set up and vibe

You'll find all that makes a British pub great here and it's more than backed up with fantastic beer and cider and a friendly welcome. A pub where you can happily lose a few hours and will certainly want to revisit.

This pub has changed hands and really got its life back. The pizza shack is back on a regular basis with upbeat music and nice snacks behind the bar. Thank you for giving it CPR new owners!

Nice Derbyshire pub serving good hand-pumped ales from the area including at least one from their own micro brewery. Worth a go!

Called in saturday lunchtime for a pint, after hearing that it was under new management. The new landlord welcomed us to his pub and introduced himself as Zach. What a lovely friendly chap and very well mannered too. We look forward to our next visit and would recommend this pub to others. The very best of luck with making this pub a success and the place to be in Sawley. As the old saying goes "be there or be square" Cheers

Great atmosphere on a Saturday night, had a good selection of fruit ciders including an interesting Mango cider, would recommend!

This pub is under new management.😊 The staff greet customers with a warm welcome, the fires are roaring, freshly baked bar snacks are available (sausage rolls, cheese stars, foccacia boards) The manager has lots of plans to restore this pub to it former glory! Quiz nights, live music and more! There a snug with a dog station and game station, you can borrow board and card games to entertain the family. There was also coloring books crayons and pens. (So children and dogs are more than welcome) Products are also supplied in the ladies toilets (jic) It those little extras (thoughtful jestures) in my opinion make it stand out! Good luck!! Went to the pub to meet a few friends, the new landlord Zach gave us a lovely warm welcome and couldn’t be more helpful. The pub was very clean had a fabulous real fire going which made it very cozy. I’ll be back soon! 😉

A few years ago when being ran by another individual, this was the best pub in Sawley, cheap but amazing pizzas, a great atmosphere, efficient staff. Now it’s probably the worst. New management have changed the pubs personality and now the pub is pretty much empty most nights. It’s shut Monday and Tuesdays whilst other pubs do a roaring trade and the team running the pub, are quite unfriendly and unapproachable. They oddly have a barbers upstairs now too which is a bit odd! If your visiting, try the Harrington or Railway.

Just been to Momma Mary's kitchen evening. Oh my word the food was unbelievable! So tasty. Wonderful service. The entertainment was wonderful. Thank you Mary for a fabulous afternoon/evening.

Nice interior of pub. On the way out a female (I assume manager) basically accused us of stealing glasses. I said they're on the collection table and she said they're not on our table, I repeated they're on the collection table. They've got a laminate piece of paper saying please put empties here so I did... Only went as Project D was there, definitely won't be going back. No one asked us to fill in the details for track and trace either

Wouldn't go again, food all on the floor, dirty tables, cobwebs around light fittings.

This pub was once a massive flop house and one you just wouldn't want to visit. However, the current owners took it over a few years ago and utterly transformed it and also added a now award winning brewery; the Old Sawley Brewing co, guaranteeing a truly excellent range of beers any time you visit. Only the inclusion of some regular live music would improve it. Pay it a visit!
