We regularly dine here and cannot fault it one bit. Food excellent, Dan and his team make us very welcome, nothing is too much. Superb service .

Such a shame the food was very disappointing, starters is the same as Iceland frozen food 😢 Mains was just not the same as we have had in the past 😕 we have been coming to this same pub for the last 20 years. So sad to have dropped its standards.

We were a party of 10, having the Christmas menu.The staff were very efficient and friendly. Only one of us had a starter, which arrived promptly. The mains all came out together and were nice and hot and everyone seemed very happy with their meals. Plenty of vegetables to share. It was the desserts which let our experience down. The Christmas pudding was miniscule, with very little custard and the people who had it were extremely disappointed. My husband was still mentioning it days later! The chocolate tart was just a big enough portion, but needed some cream or ice cream with it, as it was quite rich. My other negative comment was that it was very cold in the pub and we all had cold feet! One friend didn't feel able to remove her coat. I would hesitate to recommend for a set Christmas dinner, but have not been at any other time, so can't comment. One of us was in a wheelchair due to a broken ankle and was non-weight bearing. There was a step up and down to get into pub, which was very difficult.

Food ok. Wanted to charge for the meal of a colleague who couldn’t come, late notice, due to grandmother not going to survive the night! Mark was in compassionate, rude & aggresive when challenged. Took off £19.50 and understandable kept the deposit after some aggressive discussion. Spoilt our evening, sadly! Would not return or recommend.

Spent a lovely evening catching up with friends. The food & friendly service were fantastic.

Bought my mum daughter n best mate for Sunday lunch, very accommodating as I'd left it last minute.com and they called me when my table came free. Blooming lovely roast lamb, decent portion size a good amount of meat and crunchy veg just how I like it. And reasonably priced we only went into the £30 a head bracket cos we drank a bottle of wine and had pudding!! Lol Pretty much catered for exactly what my 10 year old wanted, as she isn't a roast lover. Friendly waitresses a little bit of banter with one girl which is very me as it makes the experience more personal. Definitely rate the Sunday roast which is so hard to find a decent proper home cooked vibe. Would like to try this pub on à drinking night lol see what the atmosphere is compared to to the formality of Sunday lunchtime 🤣

We were there Saturday lunchtime Not too busy. Slight wait for freshly prepared food which was tasty, particularly the steak and ale pie Wine and beer both good . Service was friendly . Would happily return.

Love this pub. Good friendly atmosphere and the food is amazing. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Donna is my favourite. Always willing to go that extra mile. Just had the best ever Eaton mess.

Went here today. Food ok. Not great. Nothing to write home about. Worst bit ordered onion rings..8 breaded onion rings looked straight out of a frozen packet from the local supermarket. 56 pence per crappy onion ring..got to be some kind of joke? Staff were nice.. Wouldn't go back. Many better places to spend your money Edit. Reason I didn't complain was that the person I went to lunch with begged me not to say anything. I think she felt uncomfortable about the whole thing.

Sadly disappointed with our meal. The pastry was so overcooked and tough that we could hardly eat it. Really think you could have done better. Staff were polite, helpful and cheerful. But the meal was a disappointment.

Booked a table for five and was seriously impressed. Big portions, nice menu, great friendly service, very quickly served. Tasted delicious. It’s a lot of food and no room for dessert! Plenty of parking. If it’s your first time, probably need the sat nav to find. Without doubt will be back again at some point for food and a few pints.

Country pub with pleasant garden.

First time coming here and we’ll certainly be back in the future. Located in a great area, staff were friendly and helpful. Roast Pork dinner was rather tasty.

My friends had wraps, they were a little disappointed with the texture. I had ham, egg and chips. The ham was lovely, the eggs hard and an enormous portion of peas that weren't requested or required. Hard picnic benches, to sit at.

Overall we like this Pub and generally the staff are helpful and accommodating etc, but felt the need to highlight a couple of things after a recent visit and specifically I ordered a mozzarella tomato and basil salad to start and was disappointed to find that my £7.50 bought me 4 slices of a salad tomato and 4 slices of mozzarella... ( just found it quite small and underwhelming for the money compared to similar dishes that I would eat fairly regularly at other restaurants. Then the price of a large glass of Rose was a fair bit more than other restaurants and pubs that we visit ... so much so I felt I had to ask the question at the bar .... For me... keep a close eye to make sure prices aren't over inflated , keep the portions a decent size and the menu kept simple but refreshed regularly and you'll keep us coming back.. its as simple as that

Only popped in for a drink but staff were nice and it seems like a lovely old fashioned english pub. We will be back

Not one for the veggies… The Wellington and Sausage rolls we ordered weren’t very good, the latter so hard you couldn’t even cut through most of it. The staff were really friendly, though we were disappointed they didn’t offer any discount for the inedible food. Climbing frame outside is really good for kids. Nice enough place just shame about the food.

Excellent service, very helpful and polite staff. Food excellent, generous portions, a really good meal with good choices.

They really need to sort out their veg food, not acceptable to buy in.

Arrived for lunchtime drinks and can only say it was the most unwelcoming 'welcome',from whom I presume was the landlord, to an establishment I and those with me have ever experienced. Whilst ordering and waiting for drinks there was an attempt by ourselves to engage in conversation with him but it was a futile attempt. We looked for a table to sit at and received a sarcastic comment that 'if there is no cutlery you can sit there, that's the clue.' We also heard him abruptly speaking to staff which was quite uncomfortable to hear as all the other serving staff were very polite and friendly. We had considered eating there after our drinks but considering the unfriendly atmosphere we left and ate at home.

Food was good home cooked fayre. Small portions. Not alot of parking.

A strange Xmas menus has arrived. Roast turkey includes roast potatoes York pudding pigs in blankets but no veg unless you pay extra for it.

Quality of the food of the highest standard and the service was on point. Only negatives is the menus is small and it was absolutely freezing with the fire, which made it rather uncomfortable eating - the radiators do not provide that much either.

Great Winter menu, the Beef Cobbler was superb and then go for the cinnamon swirl for dessert, the staff are always friendly especially Julie and Katie (the really nice one, Zoe’s daughter), and Dan runs a good bar. Ed Butcher the chef has come up with a great winter menu, best I’ve had in this very quaint country pub.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch today with the family. Service was friendly and attentive and the food was great with good portions and plenty of veg.

Welcoming staff. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The pub is dog friendly. The food we had tasted great and definitely value for money. Would highly recommend. Maybe it is best to book ahead if going at peak times as I imagine this pub gets very busy, but we went for a late lunch, so there wasn't a problem. Well worth popping in!!

Beautiful lunch in the sun on a Sunday. Roasts looked wonderful and fulfilling, I opted for a different vegetarian option. Service easy going and attentive. Food was delivered swiftly and plates cleared timely. Price was reflective and not excessive. Highly recommend and would visit again, most certainly.

Absolutely superb place. Staff are all amazing, regulars are a great laugh, food excellent. Just can't fault it. If I'm ever in the area, I'll be making a beeline for here. Love it.

I'm giving 5 stars because my steak was cooked perfectly. Not easy to get these days (in my experience anyway.....!) Go and give them a try.

The staff was super friendly and the pub had a cozy atmosphere. I had the fish and chips with peas. It was tasty and the portion was really big. The pudding of the day was delicious. I had the warm sticky toffee pudding with custard… Such a comforting dessert

Popped in on a Sunday with husband, step son and dog. They are dog friendly, and have 2 dogs of their own which they ask you not to feed (although we didn't see them)- however they ask for no dogs on a Sunday due to how busy they are. We were outside on the green on a bench so we were OK. There is lots of parking. Despite being busy, service was swift and the guys behind the bar were very friendly; got me a tray for my drinks before I even had chance to ask. Would visit again in the summer for drinks outside.

This is our 3rd time here with in a week, food is lovely home cooked, we have eaten in a few different places and here is far the best. The staff are really attentive and helpful, we felt very welcome and will definitely be back again, Prices are really good much cheaper than any where else we have been and the food was no where near as nice 👍

Sunday roast was very good… the beef is a must try! Veggies were lovely. Only a small selection of lagers but stil found something to try. Service is great. Venue and beer garden are really nice. Great play area for children.

Just been for a last minute evening meal. Really pleased with everything, food is spot on. Price, portion, and quality all perfect. For me personally, will now be my go too place for food in this area.

Stopped in here for a quick bite with my family on our way home from a few days holiday. They served very decent pub food, tasty, filling, and very enjoyable. The real winning point for us, however, we're the staff. They were all so warm and friendly, with a genuine, welcoming manner. I will definitely pop in again if I am ever in the area.

We recently hired the marquee and the garden for our son’s naming ceremony; Mark and the team looked after us no end. Mark met with us to understand what we wanted from the day so he could understand what they could provide us. We opted for catering to be pizzas with a selection of toppings. On the day, the team were extremely accommodating, going out of their way to help us make the day a success. The pizzas went down a treat. Considering we had 100 guests, the food was plentiful and all freshly cooked. The garden was well prepared for us and the bar in the garden made the event feel even more private and intimate. We can’t thank Mark and his team enough for helping us make the day special for our family ❤️.

Found White Hart on the way home!! Amazing play area for kids and the food was amazing!! Was sad to see it being quiet!! Food come out quickly and my sister accidentally spilt her pineapple juice whilst food come out and they refused for her to pay for her to pay for another which was her fault!! Thank you to all the staff and chefs!! If u are nearby definitely visit you will regret not coming!! Wished we lived closer

What an amazing bunch of people! We hosted our engagement party here in June and it was magical. It was everything we could ever of asked for and more! We had about 70 people in the garden, with Mark catering the outside kitchen with a 3 meat hog roast with salads and breads, we had so many compliments on the food. It was amazing! The party was so much fun, with music, decorations, amazing food and an outside bar. Everyone had so much fun and I cannot recommend Mark and the team at the White Hart enough for making our party so special. Everyone is super friendly, attentive and hard working. We pretty much had free reign of the garden so we had some garden games, outside decorators come in and we were allowed to move bits around to accommodate us. Thank you to all of you and I would highly recommend the White Hart for food, hospitality and events hire.

Amazing find in the countryside.

Sadly we chose the wrong dish, everything else we saw looked delicious. We chose prawn green thai curry, it was very spicy and the sauce was very watery, not what we were expecting. We were overcharged for our drinks, charged for a pint of coke instead of a regular but we had already left before realising.

Good value specials on the day - had ham, egg and chips for £7 with a generous portion followed by a dessert for £3. That’s a good deal to me and the meal was great. Had an issue with over billing after the meal as part of a large party but eventually sorted it.

Only a quick pint but the food going to the various tables looked lovely . Nice gardens and outside seating . Next time I'm passing will have a meal .

My halloumi burger was awful, they made a mistake with the bill, the manager argued, only grudgingly admitting his mistake, then refused to return polite goodbyes, like a sulky toddler. Wouldn't dream of going again.

What a fantastic place, we are visiting West Bergholt and the White Hart is just around the corner we thought we'd nip in and sample the menu. Over the moon with our experience. The staff very attentive and the food was delicious. Hoping to make it back again to try something else they have to offer before we head home.

Excellent food and the best staff ever! Real fire in the grate...super atmosphere. A special thanks to the staff who assisted our friend as we waited for an ambulance...nothing to do with food I might add! Will definately be back.
