Bridgend Trefoil( 10 ladies of a certain age) had lunch there . Food was wonderful, service excellent. Couldn’t ask for better x

Great food at a realistic price, with welcoming & happy staff. We visited on a rather quiet Friday evening, & were welcomed by Millie who explained some of their 'signature dishes' displayed on the blackboard. Ample portions of starters & mains were well presented, & served on hot plates, which makes such a difference for me! Thanks to all the White Hart team, especially Millie who was so cheerful & smiling, & looked after us throughout our visit. Pub hospitality at its best!

Lovely old pub with plenty of atmosphere. Basic menu but reasonably priced

Even on a quiet day this place is Amazing. There was a bit of a wait for food but my god was it worth it!! Definitely not your bog standard pub grub! The portion sizes are on the slightly larger than typical side. For what you pay, worth it tenfold. Definitely going to look to come back here again!!

Went for a Sunday lunch. Had two courses each. Starter for me was mushrooms. Clearly frozen and deep fried - tasteless. And then a roast beef. Huge amounts of bland tasteless food. Beef was tough and lacked any flavour at all. Veg was overcooked and again lacked any flavour. A tip for the chef - serve less food but better quality. And for the love of god, learn how to season!

Always loved this pub. Food was excellent.

Really gone down hill, always been a regular and the food has always been good pub grub! But went about 2mths ago and the food was dreadful! Had chicken curry and chicken was hardly edible as so tough. So gave befefit of a doubt and tried again BUT unfortunately will never return!! Ordered small curry portion at the cost of £9.95 SMALL was an understatement to say the least!!! I made the bar staff aware and fair enough refunded my money. Also 1 aperol spitiz and 1 Guinness at the cost of £18.50. Fair to say it will be a very long time before l return.

We had a fantastic Saturday night here, with great live music from local band, ‘The Goodges’. The atmosphere in this lovely pub was amazing.

We waited 50-minutes for our food in a pub that really wasn’t busy at all, mid week, out of term time. Our food was pretty reasonable pub food and did arrive freshly cooked and hot. Given the wide choice available locally I’d go elsewhere in future.

Expensive and overrated is all I can say.

It is not the ritz, ok, but a nice welsh pub so ratings are as always relative. Relaxed, good food and reasonably priced.

4th time here this year fantastic food Steak is Amazing better than theses expensive restaurants and I know its from the local butcher. Brilliant Definitely recommend it

Quick drink after a long walk on a gorgeous day

We had the best fish and chips. It was so good to have real chips rather than the frozen oven chips generally on offer these days. The fish was coated in crisp tasty batter and was moist and flavoursome. Altogether a really excellent lunch. We will definitely eat there again.

This is the nicest Gammon and awesome chips ive had in a while. If you've not had a meal here. You need to give them a try.

My Mum, Sister and I just stayed in the one room they have above the pub this weekend (Friday and Saturday night.) Well, I say above the pub, it’s a very old building so the whole apartment upstairs slants meaning that one of the two bedrooms is separated from the bar by two thin doors. It’s best to describe this place as pros and cons. Pros: - it’s massive. Very large ‘L’ shaped sofa in a large lounge. Two reasonably sized bedrooms, all of which were clean and a large dining table with 6 chairs. - a good, clean bathroom and the shower (including a rain shower) was great with good pressure - large kitchen - no parking at the pub but you might be lucky enough to park on the road just outside (in front of the houses) and free parking less than a five minute walk away which was safe and used by many in the community - lovely shop (for presents) and café selling good coffee on the square nearby Cons: - not a great welcome. We arrived at around 8:30pm on Friday (we said that we’d be there before 10pm.) Walked into the pub and had to wait a while while the supervisor was called to help us. She offered to carry some luggage up, which was kind but other than that she was perfunctory and there was certainly no offer of whether we wanted a table for dinner etc (luckily we had booked another place nearby) - the kitchen was dirty. For example, we used the oven and both the grill and baking tray were greasy and the oven well used. The cutlery drawer had salt and general mess in. The fridge looked like it could do with a better wipe and the cloths for the washing up were not brand new. - the lounge only had one lamp in - not enough for the size of the room to do nice lighting - wifi was sketchy/intermittent - toilet seat broken in the bathroom - beds were smalls doubles. - no welcome pack or toiletries…expected for the price we paid. I sound fussy but the biggest reason why we scored this as poor as a rating was the noise factor. We were not naive that staying above a pub we should expect a level of noise. However, the pub is a stone’s throw from two other pubs with a bus stop in front of the Tavern pub. We expected noise until midnight but clearly the pubs in the area make no effort to police noise. How residents cope I have no idea. Saturday night was particularly problematic as one of the pubs clearly had a lock in so people were congregating in the square being drunk and loud (and throwing up) until gone 1:30am. The staff in the pub we were staying at were also loud, moving furniture at gone midnight and started hoovering at 8:30am on Sunday morning. Those two doors make no difference to filter the noise. In short there is no consideration shown for guests staying and it really impacted our sleep. We loved the area but won’t be staying here again. We have stayed above pubs before and like the atmosphere but the cons outweigh the pros here and I prefer somewhere where more respect is shown to those staying and the surrounding neighborhood.

Me and my partner went here a little while ago 'cause I was nosing through Google Maps looking at the Pubs in the area that does food and that, and we liked the look of what this Pub has. (Plus we went here previously for a Pint and we liked it) And we were not disappointed, the food here was fantastic. There was a handsome amount of food to fill your bellies and it all tasted so good! We'll definitely be back for more. :)

Went in to the white heart because they were one of few places serving food on Mondays food was lovely bar staff were polite helpful and paid attention to detail. Would recommend popping in for a bite to eat and a pint

Pub located in the centre of an attractive little Welsh town. There is a small road close by leading down to the beach about a mile away although it has to be said it isn't really a very good beach. On the bar there were some nice ales on offer including some from the local Well Drawn brewery. Food, when we visited, was very much bog-standard pub grub - all well prepared but nothing really to get excited about. Their website shows a menu including dishes like Pork Schnitzel, Slow Cooked Brisket and Sea Bass, but the menu we were offered had none of these items on it. Perhaps, being slightly past the peak holiday season (although it was a very warm day), they may scale the food offering back, which is a shame. We settled for Fish & Chips in the end, which was fine, albeit a little disappointing, given what we were hoping for.

Not the best restaurant I’ve been to. Staff are lovely, chef needs to go back to college and start again. Very few gluten free options. We ordered starters that they forgot about and brought out the main meals. These were lasagna, which was basically cheese and pasta, and chilli (very sweet), rice and salad. The waitress dropped some of the garlic bread on the floor, this wasn’t replaced. Very overpriced for the standard of food. We won’t be visiting there again. It was a shame we were late and The Old Swan had stopped serving food, that’s the only reason we went there. We were the only people in the restaurant, I can see why! It’s open 12-11pm, it should have been a warning sigh that it was empty.

Bartender David was an absolute star! He made are visit worth every minute. He made us feel welcome with bright smile and a can do attitude.

Food was awesome on Tuesday,was so impressed took a friend on Friday but was really disappointed 😞, my chips were over salted and undercooked and my papadum was greasy and hard(message to chef use microwave don't deep fry papadum),curry of the moment was F@#k#ng Cr#P!

Fantastic food and value for money. However, the staff were rude especially the bar manager for no apparent reason. Menus and availability not made clear.

Overall the pub is nice with a good outside area . Two staff behind the bar (women) are the rudest I have come across , no smile no please no thank you at any point ! Short sharp interactions made you feel they were doing you a big favour. Unfortunately this coloured my whole view of the pub. Maybe customer service training would not go amiss

Haven't been here for years, this place used to be my old haunting ground. It hasn't changed, it's still the same, with added extras. I love the new decor inside and out. Bar staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was amazing. The chicken and chorizo skewers were the best I've had yet. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and it is also somewhere, where I'll be returning from now on.

Great atmosphere, quirky, proper family pub

Decided to pop in for a meal, and so happy I did. I had a Cheeseburger with home made chips, and what a delight, the Burger was massive,and very tasty well garnished. My future treat now.

Lovely Sunday roast only fault when main plate was brought out it had about half inch of thin gravy this is not needed as the gravy in the gravy jug was excellent the pate was to die for

I previously rated this pub ‘almost five stars’. We visited again. Same great food and drinks. This time the level of service was exceptional: So, definitely five stars!

The food and the service in The White Hart has been excellent every meal we have had; however last night's meal was even more wonderful than usual. Five of us were dining including, one (slightly strung out after school) three-year old around 5.30pm. When we sat down in the restaurant, staff came over straight away with a huge colouring book with stickers and lots of pencils for him which I thought really lovely. The food was taking a little longer than the small person would have wanted and so the staff took the time to go get his meal ready first. Unfortunately my son just would not wait for the food to get cool enough for him to eat, burned his tongue on the hot macaroni cheese and got a bit upset. The bar staff were very sweet about it, made suggestions to help and brought over a big iced drink for him. Later on they even removed items from our bill to say sorry for my son burning his mouth, which was absolutely not their fault but extremely nice of them. Our adult meals were, as usual, delicious, huge and made with lots of good quality ingredients. In particular the vegetable tagine was really impressive along with the enormous and well-seasoned chips! My son was treated to chocolate ice cream for afters-my mother in law adored her salted caramel profiteroles. We just love this place and the level of care and thought that was shown to us last night genuinely made me well up afterwards, we were so well looked after and the staff could not have been more attentive. We'll be back soon!

four of us had a fabulous lunch last Thursday. We had booked, and when we arrived the kitchen was still having it's cooking hoods cleaned. The manager had telephoned us to pre-warn of a possible delay in serving us. We debated going elsewhere, and our waitress was very patient, however we were delighted that we stayed, the sea bass was outstanding and the chinese noodle chicken dish was really tasty. Good beer and drag queen singer was top dollar

Several empty tables in the restaurant (not reserved) and asked if we could just have a drink. As we were with our 6-month old baby we were excited to be out and had travelled several miles just to come here. Told we couldn’t sit in the restaurant without ordering food. So, said we would order chips to allow us to sit at a table. We were met with a sarcastic and unfriendly response - so we left! Not paying for service like that. So disappointing. No wonder there are so many empty tables! Merry Christmas!!

This is a great place for a drink, the staff are friendly and are especially welcoming. For meat eaters it's a good place to go, those in my group loved the meal. For me it was hard to hide the disappointment the vegetarian options were limited, made even more limited by lack of stock, the menu says their are vegetarian options for some of the dishes but appears not to be so. What they had really wasn't what I wanted on a night out. In summery great for meat eaters, everyone else probably best to stay clear

Hadn’t eaten here for a while. We were told on entry that over half the menu was unavailable, not a great start. What we had was OK, but nothing more than that. Staff were polite but it seemed that another event was taking precedence; 40 mins for our starter? All in all, didn’t match other reviews by a long stretch. Maybe we caught them on a bad day

So either this place has been massively over rated or we got it wrong. More than half the menu was unavailable, clearly not an exception as the staff were prepared with the written info. What we had was OK but nothing more than that. All in all, dissappointed.

A pot of tea with a biscuit cost something like £2.90, which is very reasonable. I got a few cups out of that pot.

Visited here twice of late, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both meals were superb, well presented and very tasty. The mussels in white wine and garlic sauce were the best I've ever tasted! There were so many mussels it was like a mussel mountain! Will definitely be back again soon! Thank you too, to the staff, who are a very happy and helpful 😀

Great pub! Fantastic beer selection and the outdoor beer garden is 10/10. Heat lamps around the tables for the cooler nights too which is always a plus.

Popped in for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised by the food. We weren't expecting anything awful by any means but anywhere that cooks real chips is making an effort. Will definitely return.

Visited Sunday afternoon and have to say what a lovely transformation!! Last visited last year (we live 5 minutes walk away but rarely go to our local eateries/pubs) The beer garden has been revamped with a beautiful water feature, and glass ballastrading that leads to an area of grassland with a children's bouncy castle. There are now plenty of tables and a super large sunshade with patio heaters underneath to warm up the tables in the middle of the beer garden on chillier evenings and in winter. On the whole the garden was clean, modern and a lovely place to visit, food was also being served and looked delicious!! The only downside- the bouncy castle really could do with a blooming good jet washing as it was rather grubby, and we weren't the only parents who noticed. I understand that kids will bring grass and dirt on to the castle but it really is quite yuk, I stripped my 2 kiddies of their clothes and socks as soon as we got home, but please believe me when I say that this will not stop us from visiting again very soon!!

We were looking around the area for a place that does Monday lunch (an option which is majorly lacking in this area). Evidently in the Vale doing lunch on Sunday means you need a one or two days off after. Anyway, we came across this pub and were delighted with the service, the pretty decor, the layout, the ambience, the food choice and the food itself! Really pleased to have a place to head to when visiting again and grateful that they have managed to maintain some level of space between diners “post-Covid” rather than cramming everyone in as some pubs do. Lovely to have a separate restaurant entrance. Will take a look at the garden next time as missed that.

By far the best pub in Llantwit Major! Lovely atmosphere, great staff!! A firm favourite!

We went for a meal in the restaurant, which is decorated with branches covered in LEDs. This has brightened up what otherwise was a subdued L shaped room in this historic local pub. The staff are helpful and attentive and our food arrived without undue delay. The menu is standard pub fare. I ordered curry. This came nicely presented with chips in a small bowl, naan bread and poppadum's on a separate plate. We all enjoyed our meals greatly, and would recommend a visit to the White Hart.

Lovely old dog friendly pub with good bar food

My partner and I enjoyed a delicious roast lunch at the White Hart today. He had roast beef which he said was very tender. I had the Quorn roast, which while not particularly imaginative, was non the less ok. The vegetables were cooked to perfection - neither undercooked or over cooked. All of the food was piping hot. We were served by Amy, who was efficient and friendly with out being intrusive. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. We have booked another visit later in the month and we are already looking forward to it
