My hubby and I,had an early evening meal.I had vegan burger and my hubby had pasta.Lovely meal, wine and service.We will return, thank you

Been here lots of times over the years and the food is always lovely, staff very friendly and great pace to go on a weekend evening.

Well what can I say about Oscars other than outstanding food, service and staff.Very extensive vegan menu and cater for pretty much everyone.Massive portions, so make sure that you have a big appetite.Four of us had burgers with my wife and I having the vegan option which was delicious.My wife and I also had the vegan sharing nachos for starters, but beware, the portion size is not for the faint hearted.What struck me especially about this place were the friendly and happy smiling staff.Great place to eat and I will be returning.Wholeheartedly recommend this establishment

Popped in on the off chance early evening around 5pm restaurant was rather busy but was kindly given a table straight away . We opted for the festive menu as everything looked amazing . We went for the starter and main at £22 and it was worth it . Crispy chicken and bubble prawns as starters well presented and a generous portion . Mains we had beef brisket ( melted in my mouth ) and festive burger .Food was 10/10.Staff where very friendly and efficent and couldn't do enough for us .We will definitely be back .

Myself and a few colleagues had a Christmas meal today, and I looked forward to seeing the vegetarian options available. It can be difficult to find good options around Christmas time that feel festive, so was pleased to see that there were a few good options available. I spotted the 'cauliflower steak' which, for the uninitiated, is a slice of cauliflower. It was served with green beans and a sauce for the sum of a little over £14. That's £14 for a slice of cauliflower. Out of interest I flicked through the menu to see how much was being charged for a 'real' steak, and was surprised to see that it would be cheaper for me to eat a beef steak (£13 something) than a slice of cauliflower. How you manage to justify this pricing is astonishing, or even arrive at the £14 figure anyway. You can currently buy a whole cauliflower in Tesco for 29p.

Went for a family celebration. Everyone enjoyed their food whether burger or vegan. Waitress very helpful with dietary requirements. Checked with chef came back with sensible answers and made accommodations. Also checked when she thought we had ordered something in error. This was all in a very busy restaurant. Good experience so definitely will be back.

How amazing to stumble across a restaurant that actually has the balls to serve a flank steak, perfectly! Such a rare find these days... Tried my mate’s lamb rump which was cooked rosé, as it should be! Tasted great, salsa verde was the perfect accompaniment. The staff were amazing and really looked after us and our children, had a great night, thank you, will deffo be back!!

Lunch with a colleague, fish cakes to die for, great food, great service, great place! Looking forward to next visit next week (girly, boozey lunch...again!). Thank you!

Great spot for lunch, enjoyed a lovely starter and main course. Good coffee and lovely service too. Good value and located on the high street. Great chicken skewers and fish always spot on.

Next door to the Bear hotel, Oscar's is a lovely restaurant with excellent choice of meals including vegan and vegetarian. Good wines, too. Enjoyable atmosphere and helpful staff made for a very pleasant night out.

My husband and I Went there for breakfast. Ordered Bagles and coffee. The Coffee came then Bagles came and we were mortified!!! The bagels had mild on them and were rock hard as they were obviously old!

6 of us enjoyed a very tasty pre concert supper here recently .Good menu choice and served with a smile .We shall definitely return .

Lovely little place, great staff, great atmosphere and great food. We opted for a healthy superfood salad which was delicious! Will definitely revisit!

Visited Oscars yesterday for a celebration meal which was a huge disappointment, having eaten there before albeit at lunchtime

Decided to go to Oscars after my wife had her hair styled at Marooned hair dressers . We liked it’s new interior and found it relaxed and interesting. The Staff were very attentive, and discussed the options on the menu. From club sandwiches and different burger combinations. We had a pleasant time and felt relaxed with the service. The price of the meal was fair and well delivered. If your looking for somewhere to eat this could be the place.

It was a lovely sunny evening and staying at The Bear Hotel in Cowbridge with a couple of friends needed somewhere for an early evening meal with a couple of friends. This restaurant is sited next to The Bear, right in the middle of Cowbridge High Street.

Good food range and excellent service. Just the sort of oace to stop off and have a liesurely and casual breakfast/brunch/lunch

I would highly recommend Oscars, the staff are friendly, the food is fresh and flavoursome.... it's great for lunch, dinner or even a drink sat outside watching the world go by..... Great venue in cowbridge I would highly recommend.

Went to Oscar's for the first time. We were a little wary because of the recent review in February but actually we had a lovely meal. In response the MrsCR2014 review.. Yes we were here a couple of hours but not because the service was slow, because food takes time to be cooked well and the table service saw that we were out for a meal enjoying ourselves and left us to it! Also yes, the staff did talk but in this industry its crucial to get on with your team! It was a lovely meal from start to finish, cooked really well, a good selection on the menu including a separate menu for vegans. Lovely atmosphere and great background music. Looks like they make amazing cocktails also. Staff were efficient and friendly. Would definitely go back! Only thing I would like to see is more salad on menu

Oscar’s is such a vibrant place to sit and eat food. The decor is a colourful modern take on 70s design. Oh... and then there’s the food.

Nice place and great coffee. The service was really good and quick. The staff are very friendly and make you feel like you have been before. Food really good.

We met some friends for what we thought would be a light lunch,but we're so impressed with the menu that we ended up ordering a lovely lunch which was served by very friendly staff and was delicious

It was half term and we visited Cowbridge for a shopping afternoon and a look around ( 5 of us including 2 children ). We were still there at 6pm, so we decided to eat. We were advised by a friendly shop assistant to try Oscars. We had a really lovely meal served by enthusiastic waitresses. Lovely surroundings and buzzing atmosphere. My grandson has diabetes type 1 , and when we asked for his 2 courses to be brought together, it was no problem. Everyone of us enjoyed everything. We will certainly be returning and recommending.

Visited Oscar's by chance. It was busy throughout our visit which is always a dead give away.

This is an informal and welcoming destination for an evening meal. We booked in advance as the menu attracted us, especially the generous vegetarian choice which looked interesting and varied. Our judgement was vindicated by both food quality and portion size, which was the unanimous verdict of our party of six. The nachos starter was particularly generous and flavoursome.

Nice food let down by exceptionally slow service. Main course and coffee took over two hours. We were not in any particular rush and the staff were friendly enough but seemed to be more interested in chatting to each other rather than serving us.

I found this great little place about 3 years ago. I had been looking for somewhere to go when I stayed in South Wales. Oscars is a lovely friendly restaurant, full of people celebrating birthdays , friends meeting up, just a good atmosphere, friendly staff and affordable prices. Food is excellent.

Quirky little place. I had cauliflower soup which was nice enough. They had a wonderful selection of teas. We felt it was good value for money.

Always love coming here and excellent friendly staff and atmosphere. I would have give it 5 out 5 but noticed tonight that the nachos sharing starter were smaller than normal and the burgers smaller especially the chicken one . I would rather pay more and enjoy the meals more . They looked almost like child burgers the amount of chicken in them . It’s still a great restaurant on my regular list to go too

As the rain and winds battered Cowbridge, we took a break from Christmas shopping and called into Oscars for a spot of lunch. Buzzy atmosphere, friendly service and a great meal from the Christmas menu: delicious carrot, coriander and ginger soup and a festive burger topped with pulled turkey. Perfect way to keep dry and keep out of the Christmas madness.

We are new parents and were looking for a place to eat on the fly while the baby was sleeping. The staff were really helpful, welcoming and accommodating with our pram.

I hadn't been to Oscar's for a few years but it was as pleasant as ever with good food and attentive staff. It is a nice place for lunch or for an evening meal. It has room for large parties. The menu is interesting and caters for vegetarians.

This restaurant has fantastic ambiance and provides exceptional service. We had tacos to share as a starter - extremely well presented with a good selection of sauces etc. We then had wraps (3 duck and 1 chicken) - again superb.

Had lovely lunch with a friend here. Really lovely place to sit and chat and enjoy watching the world go by on Cowbridge High Street. Service couldn't have been better ... and the gin ... wow! Loved it. Loved it so much ... went back a week later :)

I regularly visit here and have never had a bad meal. Service is great, food is delicious and a really lovely restaurant. If you are in Cowbridge then I highly recommend a visit here.

Mrs CHG wanted to try again after 2 years.....superb. Great welcome by Tess & the team, great cocktails, great food & wine. Atmosphere great. No complaints at all-will be back but careful of portion sizes which were great as well

This was a lunchtime visit. I chose Sea Salt Chilli Duck With Gem Lettuce, Spring Onion & BBQ Sauce £7.95 with a side order of Triple Cooked Chips £3.50. The presentation was very good and tasted delicious. We chose a bottle of Cal Y Canto Red La Mancha, Spain £16.95 which complimented the meal well. The service was good and friendly.

Friends took us to Oscars and wasn’t sure what to expect arrived and was pleased to see lovely funky modern deco.

Located on the High Street,easy to find and obviously quite popular. The food was very tasty and well presented, staff friendly and efficient.

From booking the table to being bid farewell the friendly and warm customer service was top notch. A good varied menu -especially as 3 of us are vegetarian - left us all very happy and full. Relaxed enough to play a game with kids while we waited - would recommend to anyone wanting tasty food in a warm and welcoming environment.

Arrived before the other guests in our party but made to feel welcome with no pressure to order anything before others arrived. The menu had a good selection of food. There was a good choice of vegetarian meals I think there was a separate vegan menu The portion size was good The staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet even though the establishment was quiet busy.

I went here yesterday in the day with family and I have to say the service and food was really good.

The staff and the service they gave was amazing, very attentive and friendly. Lunch was absolutely delicious. Had the goats cheese light bite and sweet potato fries with an amazing aioli. My friend had the honey chicken skewers. Also very reasonably priced menu. Lots of choice, excellent for meat eaters and vegetarians. Decor really funky, nice and clean, genuinely can’t fault it. Can’t wait to go back.

Had a very pleasant meal here. I was slightly underwhelmed by my salmon pasta and eton mess sundae. But everyone else enjoyed their meals. Friendly efficient service and a good atmosphere.

Love this little place. My better half and myself wanted to try the new starter menu on a Wednesday night. (3 starters and a side for £15) couldn’t have been more satisfied after tasting all our selections. Was fantastic value. The food was exquisite and there were so many flavours. Can’t wait to go again to try a few more.

Visited here for dinner, the place is very nicely decorated and not too busy, the food is great and of a gastro pub style menu, such as mac and cheese, burgers, nachos etc.

Only ordered coffee and cake. The service was very prompt. The waitress on the ball and polite. Coffee was as you'd expect and the slice of Victoria sponge was amazing. The slice of cake was huge. A flat white, a latte and the slice of cake all for just over £8 which, considering the size on the cake, is very reasonable. The waitress also brought us cold water without us asking.

Had a lovely meal, a nice chap served us, seemed slightly nervous, think he was new, but did a really good job. Food was lovely, great big portions. Would definitely go back!

There is dining inside and out the front as well. Good polite service by all who served us. The place has a good variety on their menu and is very clean.

The variety of food here is great. The manager is lovely. Always so nice to dogs sitting outside. Nice to be able to sit at the bar. We really miss the truffles eggs! Nice salads for those on a diet.

We have eaten here a few times from the light bites menu and always had excellent food. The capacinos are excellent too. Would recommend this place to anyone. Staff are polite and helpful.

This is a great restaurant which is next door to the Bear Hotel. Good wines and ales as well as excellent service.

We were exhibiting at Cowbridge, and for the first time decided to stay over. We decided on dinner at Oscars by pure luck.

This was a lunchtime visit we sat at the outside tables as it was a nice day. I ordered from the light bites, the honey glaised chicken skewers £7.50 and we had a side order of SWEET POTATO FRIES £3.75. It was cooked just right and tasted very good, presentation was good also. We ordered a bottle of the temperillo which complimented the meal well £18.The service was good and friendly.

Had a great evening with friends on Saturday. Service very good and we all really enjoyed the food. We had a good mix off the menu between the 6 of us and all meals a success. It was busy but service attentive. Its lovely food without pretence and a good atmosphere.

A lovely welcome and they squeezed us in for an early dinner even though they were busy. Plenty to choose from on the menu, and very tasty food. Nice atmosphere. Seems popular with families. Plenty of parking on the street or in the car park nearby.

Absolutely loved our meal here to start the Easter weekend and celebrate my father in laws birthday. The atmosphere was lovely, decor is super stylish (see picture) and it’s just a really relaxed and comfortable place to be. Menu is so tempting it’s hard to choose and everyone’s food was so delicious and excellent quality - we had steak, burger, beef cheek, duck - everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Really enjoyed our lunch here today, friendly service with a smile, led to our table, given menus & drinks orders taken! I had the Greek chicken salad & my friend had the duck tortilla wrap & of course, we shared a portion of the triple cooked chips! A must! Best chips ever! Really tasty meal & good value. No wonder it’s so popular.

Went to Oscars for an evening with friends. We were all really impressed. We had starters, mains and coffee to finish. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Would recommend Oscars and we will be returning.

Visited mid week for birthday and first outing since leaving hospital. Was not busy in fact maximum of 4 tables during our time there. 3+ servers on premises. Took an age to come and get order for drinks (got one of those wrong). Then had to wait an age for correct drink to arrive. We had nachos to share but they decided to bring starters while we were half way through sharing plate. Husband had baby squid - over cooked so probably just as well there were only 5 on the plate. Plates cleared after main course and we were waiting to order more drinks and ask for water. A look at the dessert menu would also have been appreciated along with coffees. After approx 20 minutes we had reached the stage whereby we did not wish to give them any more of our business. My husband went and paid at the counter. Will not be returning which is a shame as we like to support local business.

Poor service- waitress got drinks order wrong (we all make mistakes which is fine) however took over ten minutes to apologise and replace drink. Dishes were taken away and nobody asked if more drinks were wanted or if we would like to see the dessert menu. 15 minutes passed of staring at an empty table and by this point my family and I were past the point of wanting to spend further money at Oscars and decided to wait for the bill. However, even then we had to go to the bar to ask for the bill when other tables had been given the bill and card machine at their table.

We have been here many times as it one of our favourite eating places in Cowbridge and our girls often meet their friends there for a meal.

When this off-shoot of The Bear Hotel opened a few years ago it had a certain pizzazz about it. Sadly that has faded and the dining experience is not great. First impressions count and being given a tatty, scruffy single sheet menu replete with rips and stains does not augur well. The atmosphere and menu bring to mind a slightly upmarket burger joint. The food was OK; unremarkable and relatively expensive. The place seems a bit tired and with plenty of alternative eating places nearby, the management perhaps need to think about a refurb and a fresh approach.

Excellent, attentive service. Relaxed, laid back atmosphere. Lots of gluten free options for Dad too!

We revisited Oscars in October (having used it a lot in the past) and were SO impressed by the staff who could not have done more to be helpful. This was a big change from a few years ago. Having been back now 4 times - the food is excellent and the service bac to Oscar's standards, we were so delighted that Tess is back! Highly recommend for snacks and a glass of wine or a full blown meal in a super atmosphere.

The restaurant was warm and welcoming on a winters evening. It was lovely and relaxed with attentive staff with a good choice of meals. The food was tasty and good quality and a decent portion size.

There are horrendous meals that stay in your mind for so long you feel obliged to eventually warn the rest of society.

I’m a Macrobiotic Vegan which can often be an issue when eating out! We were delighted to find this little gem in Cowbridge with a varied menu including lots of things I could eat! The food was delicious and the service excellent and they have Seedlip Gin ! We totally loved our visit and can’t wait to go back!

Popped to Cowbridge for a few hours and some friends suggested this place for coffee. Well what a find, lovely modern and stylish but still comfortable. Great choice of homemade goodies from lunch options to various cakes on the bar. We had a few coffees and some cake to share then we tucked into a delicious light lunch. We would definitely come back here next time we are in Cowbridge. Staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. 10 out of 10

Me and my family go here regularly, we always have the nachos as a starter- fantastic! The food is never disappointing! I've been going here for 6 years and the menu is always shifting. The food is very consistent!

Had lunch with friends here yesterday and loved it.

We popped to Oscar's last night on a spontaneous child-free date night. We hadn't booked but the staff at Oscar's couldn't have been more accommodating. We decided to try the new 'Pick and Mix' Wednesday menu and it did not disappoint. 3 starters and a side for £15! We had three starters and a side each to share. It was sooooo good. I can definitely recommend the nachos and duck.

We went here for a quick lunch on Saturday, service was wonderful as always, very welcoming and lovely atmosphere. Lunch and the wine was great.

My family, friends and I absolutely love this place!! The staff are amazing and very friendly especially Tess the Manager, they can't do enough for you. Food is fabulous as always.Highly recommend for a chilled night out in a great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

Service, welcome and menu choice is good. The evening food however for myself and guests always feels a little disappointing- not living up to the promise.

Popped in for brunch with my daughter and granddaughter before heading to the airport. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. Two of us had the smashed avocado on toast with poached egg, the other had buttermilk pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. The service was excellent and the staff were particularly good at interacting with my granddaughter. We'll definitely return once I'm back in Wales.

Spontaneous late afternoon dining experience. Got to sit with the big windows open on a sunny summer afternoon. The waiting staff were attentive to us all, including our toddler. Food was delicious - the crispy duck in open flatbread was amazing with a big side of sweet potato fries!

Always delivers delicious , beautifully presented food . Well done to the chefs , kitchen staff - we never see you to say thank you ! coffee is the best around and if they have it - the little peice of flapjack on the side is a lovely touch ! We're local and always go back to Oscars . We have just tried Llanerch Vineyard and it was such a disappointment compared to Oscars .

Ambience was quite nice - interesting building.Seating was very uncomfortable - we had a mixture of bench seating and chairs, some of which were plastic and bouncy which gave one of our party motion sickness. One of the bench seats had a wooden panel behind which made it very uncomfortable, another seat had a wall light immediately above which made it very hot. Pleased to see a range of vegetarian and gluten free options ( which is why we went) but hugely disappointed in the choice I made - which was a roasted butternut squash salad with halloumi cheese and salted roast potatoes. The salad arrived without the halloumi or the roast potatoes and was basically just a pile of leaves with a nasty vinegary dressing and a miniature sprinkling of feta cheese. To top it off there was some non- gluten free bread plonked on top.I asked the the waiter if the bread was gluten free and he asked if I had specified gluten free. (He wasn't the person who took the order). I said that I had and that I had ordered the potatoes and halloumi. He took my salad away and came back and said I hadn't ordered the potatoes or halloumi. I was flabbergasted and asked my fellow diners to confirm that I had been very clear with my order and that the waitress had repeated it back to me. The potatoes arrived about 15 minutes later - the halloumi never arrived.The staff team attitude was poor and I was very disappointed so will never be returning.

We frequent Oscars in Cowbridge because it never fails to deliver. Fresh, tasty food and a quick, friendly service. Family friendly and if you have a dog - you can try and nab a table outside although these are extremely popular on a sunny day. The kids menu is good and refreshingly reasonable. The Nachos are AMAZING and must be tried. The wine list is a little on the ££ side but thats not unusual these days. Breakfast is not great here as its a very limited menu but lunch and dinner is an absolute must!

I've visited quite a number of times now, and it never fails to impress.The staff are friendly, lovely atmosphere, the food is delicious, good portions, well presented and reasonably priced. The salmon fish cakes are beautiful and the lamb cakes are delicious, highly recommended!. Enjoy!

I have eaten at Oscars many times over several years and have never been disappointed. I would rate it as easily on a par with good London restaurants. On this occasion I ordered a local gin from the Oscars gin menu (Eccentric Cardiff Dry - with hints of citrus and licquorice - served with fever tree tonic plus peppercorns and orange peel.) For a starter I had Oscars nachos and for the main course I had slow roast belly pork. My Mum ordered a bombay sapphire gin, for starters she had baby back ribs with sticky BBQ glaze, granny smith apple salsa and for the main course she chose a special of the day which was griddled gammon steaks with diced fresh pineapple and eggs. One of the things I love about Oscars is the presentation of its food - always immaculate - take a look at my photographs to see what I mean - I've attached them to this review. The portions are generous and always perfectly cooked. Service is attentive and pleasant, the staff take a genuine interest in the customers; you are not rushed or served the courses too close together. The restaurant has plenty of seating, some of it in booths and there are outside tables too. It is placed on Cowbridge High St., adjacent to the historic Bear Hotel. There is plenty of parking in Cowbridge, almost all free of charge. So, for 2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 gins, the bill came to £52.15. Highly recommended. Whenever I come to Cowbridge I have to get my Oscars fix:)

We ended visiting this place based on the recommendation of the hotel we were staying.The staff are wonderful and professional. The food was good and the atmosphere was great.Chatted with some of the locals at the restaurant and I left with the best impression and the community spirit the makes this place so welcoming.
