A great place to escape my chaotic house! Lovely food, great selection of drinks and fantastic service! Great in the summer with the beer gardens. My favourite local!

Food was good value but service unacceptably slow - main course plates were not cleared for a long time, until I went to the counter and requested the desserts!

Worst meal in years, won't be going back. Seriously overpriced poor food. Food came really quickly for 5 people, undercooked, cold, congealed. King prawns mere tiny shrimps etc etc etc. Untrained staff in how to handke customer service issues. Awful experience.

Yes I had a poor meal my steak was bit tough I like it medium rare it was hard on the outside i find tough to chew unpleasant for me is that my peas came out luke warm they were like bullets which I didn't like at all chips were ok but overall It wasent a good day for me at all

The staff never ever smile or try to make a customer feel good. But I still go there. Like a fool. I'm so British, I've become accustomed to dreadful service as "OK".

Yet another disaster meal at The White Cross! Tandoori Chicken Skewer was cold. Returned and replaced. 2nd attempt slightly warmer but now with over-cooked inedible fries. Again served on a stone cold plate. Spoke with the Manager, Gabby, who incidentally was "Chef" tonight. I returned the 2nd attempt. Was assured that the food was at the correct temperature as per "her probe". Sorry, it's a joke. I was not prepared to give them a 3rd attempt. Cold food, cold plates and a very cool response from the Manager, who sadly doesn't take criticism well. This is happening too regularly at The White Cross. Standards are definitely slipping and have been for some time, not only with the food but also the service in the bar. I have been a regular customer there for a number of years so feel that I have the experience to make comparisons. Believe me, if this had been my first visit it would have been my last. Goodbye White Cross. Pull your socks up, engage in a positive attitude with your customers. I know from experience you can do better.

Great place great food we'll be back

We visit here often, usually we choose small plates. However our usual choices were not served as they normally are. The prawns in crumbs were flat like the prawns had been pressed. The calamari was served in rings( yes I know that’s how they’re supposed to be served) but we’ve had them in strips which are far nicer. The spicy chicken nachos were nice apart from the cheese which we both thought were topped with cheese slices. The cheesey garlic bread was soft and doughy.

First time coming here and it was really nice. Peaceful atmosphere, possibly a bit low on staff that day... The rainbow lasagne was really nice, never had that anywhere before. Generally speaking a nice place, chilled and relaxing

Second year here for Christmas Eve family meal. Once again the food and service was amazing. Staff are wonderful and so welcoming.

Excellent venue for food, drink and a relaxed enjoyable time

We go quite a lot and like the staff and atmosphere. My only criticism would be that sometimes the food is sent out on cold plates. Hot food should always be served on warm plates or it goes cold very quickly.

Good table, quick service and food was excellent. We had no complaints about our evening at the White Cross and we will visit again.

We visit fairly frequently usually Wednesday early evening. Food and drink excellent quality. Food portions more than sufficient.

Booked from the festive menu for 5 of us and the normal menu for 1. The food was delicious and piping hot and excellent value for money. Service was great

It's a great little place, parking a bit restricted but once inside it's a very friendly pub staff are friendly and there is a good choice of beers/lagar, as for the food a wide variety from vegetarian, vegan and of course omiverous to , there also a children's section, it's also dog friendly , and a beer garden/patio + 1 TV if you're into sports. All in all a nice place Big improvements with the refurbishment,all new decor, tables , seating ect , come and have a look.

Great food in a lovely local pub..

Two couples, living locally and visiting on a reasonably regular basis. Cold night out so it’s wonderful and warming to walk inside. Always a great welcome feeling as you snuggle into the seating table areas. It’s all order at the bar so we set up a tab and got the first drinks in. Food decided on, two fish and chips a steak pie and their Xmas burger ordered and delivered within a very short time. Piping hot and very tasty and welcome. Another drink and two pudding of chocolate brownie with four spoons tea and coffee. Service was supper and all staff very nice. Great local tradition pub with nice beers, a great warmth but heat and Staff wise. Definitely one we go back to again and again. Happy Xmas to you all. All the best for next year.

We booked for lunch and had the rainbow lasagne and the scampi. Both meals were freshly prepared and lovely. The service has been friendly and attentive. Over all a great experience and we will definitely be coming again.

Had lunch with a walking group. 15 people turned up and the staff were patient, friendly and efficient. The meals were excellent.

I’ve been to the white cross a few times and the atmosphere is always great. Staff and managers are always willing to help make any visit perfect. The food and drinks are always good with any problems rectified quickly. Would definitely recommend.

Spot on. Enjoyed a Friday early evening drink with some friends. Staff were very helpful and friendly especially Imogen who gave us a warm welcome. I had kids with me and the staff went out of their way to say hello to them and gave them some crayons and books to keep them amused.

The GM Gabby is a great manager. Always has a friendly smile and welcomes us every time we come. Maia is a delightful person and always makes us laugh. Jack, James, Imogen, and the rest of the team are spot on, 10/10, would recommend a visit to everyone.

What a fantastic place to eat and drink. Can’t recommend highly enough. Gab’s and the team make you feel welcome and we’ll certainly be returning asap.

It was my birthday on 27 September. They have a great loyalty scheme which gave me 25% off the 1st round of drinks . That was a nice thing for my birthday . I went out on Sunday 29 with my daughter wife and son in law for Sunday lunch . My wife has shoulder of beef seasoned veg roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding . I had duo gammon and chicken extra Yorkshire pudding and coliflower cheese . All really well cooked and very tasty . Yet again the white cross team made my family birthday lunch . The best they could .

Saturday night - one beer on draft! Indifferent staff. Very quiet for how it has been in the past.Have they given up? I’m off to somewhere with a bit more atmosphere for a Saturday evening.

Food is really good and incredibly well priced. The Gammon is always great, as was the mixed grill! Staff are friendly and attentive. I always feel very welcome. Dog friendly too. Quiz night was a lot of fun as well!

Visited this afternoon around 4 .30 only to discover every table was booked from 7pm. We wanted a relaxing meal & a drink or 2. 2 hours is not that long. We turned round and decided to go somewhere else. I find it unbelievable that there wasn’t 1 table for walk ins.

Popped in for tea on a Monday evening. They were short staffed but it didn't affect the service or the quality. Always a good reliable local eatery with a good selection of food and drinks. Often some offers available too. Highly recommend the mixed grill.

Best Calamari 👌, super chicken burger

Called in for food one evening after work. Was nice and relaxing with a good choice of food on the menu and a great selection of real ales. Staff were friendly and welcoming and will definitely be calling in again in the near future.

My friend and I visited here on a Friday evening - rang up an hour before to book a table, and arrived after 8pm. Very friendly welcome. Food was delicious (gammon, egg and chips, and crumble with custard). OK - so the very cheap set menu deal they used to have in the pub is no longer, but prices have gone up everywhere - and food was still very reasonable. I think they had a charity event on but we sat in the conservatory - it was quiet and very clean. I would definitely visit again!

The atmosphere is amazing, reminded me of an old stlye pub which is kept in great condition. Music, lighting, and air temperatures offer a comfortable dining experience. The food, especially some of the steaks were fabulous, perfectly cooked. The cajun-seasoned fries that came with the steak is a side that i definitely recommend for its crispness and taste. To order you have to walk up to the bar, which is more efficient in quieter times. Overall great dining experience.

I love this place, the staff are so friendly and always do what they can for you. We eat there every week and we have never had a bad meal. The prices are so reasonable compared to other places. I would highly recommend 👌

went for dinner on 25/06/24 and the food was lovely thank you to the lovely chef (Garry). Service was beautiful on the bar from jack!! Highly recommend this pub! Will be coming back xxx
