Overpriced and very slow staff , if prebooked they get served first , so we were waiting quite some time , OK if you know that , suggest you just have one person doing the precooked orders

Good selection of food. Fish can be ordered poached, for example. There are plenty of non fish items. Good variety of drinks, both hot or cold. Alcohol is also served. Ample seating inside. Toilets available. Free parking. Efficient and friendly service.

Excellent service from start to finish. Good variety of menu options, including steamed/poaches fish without batter. Non fish options are available. Licensed if you want a drink. Ample parking. Friendly and efficient staff. Reservations are not necessary even if you have to wait a short while.

My daughter went to get takeout but on arrival home 8 miles away Whitby staff forgot one cod but did not forget to charge for it . Daughter went back and all they said was” sorry “ no compensation at all . Ruined lunch.

Bad week on the diet, after visiting Weatherby Wailer in Wakey on Sunday, 4 days later had a Whitby's. Had a takeaway. Both 5 star, in comparison, had option of skin on or off Haddock here. Had it on. Batter was delicious and lighter (colour and thickness) here, better to my preference. Wife's Cod was delicious too. Not too many chips that felt overwhelming. Wasn't a fan of the mushy peas, they taste like Bachelors out of the can. The curry sauce was fruity and had a definite curry powder kick at the end. Both accompaniments were a bit on the watery side. Prefer Wailers Peas and Curry Sauce. Defo go back again for the fish and chips, no sauce! Ps Important - also sells Ben Shaw's Dandelion & Burdock, which is a must for any proper chippy.

Well organised queueing system, outside, under cover. Only one allowed in at a time. Very polite, efficient and timely. Waited outside under another cover for food to be brought out. Fish freshly cooked, with a carton of peas and a good portion of chips. Excellent as usual.

Everything about Whitby's is just great. It's an excellent example of a fish and chip restaurant. It's consistently good (cooked to perfection), the staff are friendly and welcoming, and I really like the restaurant. It's bright and airy and immaculately clean. You really can't go wrong, and I highly recommend it.

I thought it would have expencive but I was surprised how fair a price it was and the fish was a good portion and lovely white fish. quick takeaway service. tables outside, or eat in restaurant, all on ground level as for as I could see. the toilets where clean, plenty of parking spaces.Will certainly call again

I've always found every item I've bought there was good but on most occasions found the chips disappointing, this last time however they advertised that they were trialing a new make of potato and the chips were amazing, by far the best I've had from any chip shop in years.

Visited on 15th July 2024 with my wife and sister had small and regular fish and chips although expensive was good, my wife had Sheffield fish cake and chips meal the cost of this was the same as regular fish and chips most expensive fish cake ever will not be returning

Called on way back from shopping and fish and chips was marvellous no skin on the haddock

We only called as my daughter was hungry, and we all had a little something to take away. The staff were extremely friendly, the food was hot and delicious. The restaurant looked amazing and seems very popular. On this occasion, I didn't take any photos . I will definitely be returning ☺️

Fish and chips were outstanding and the service was great.

It is extremely inconsistent, sometimes we go and it is utterly devourable, whilst other days it is quite the opposite, even with poor quality fish on occasion. Still, overall, it is a nice experience, and I do recommend it.

Booked tables for 21 veterans and their partners to have a fish and chip supper. Nothing was too much trouble for the server. Excellent service and food. Highly recommend for group bookings.

A review of the takeaway Not as good as it used to be. Thin piece of cod. Soggy oily batter and undercooked chips. Disappointing

Not been for a while just fancied a fish so called in take away half...Absolutely shocking, £7.20 tiny piece of cod and I have had fish fingers thicker. Obviously slicing fillets in half... hang your heads, stay away unless you have money to throw away.

This place used to be pretty good. It seems it has gone seriously downhill in the last six months or so.. The fishcakes' potato is always under-cooked, hard and inedible, which I have previously complained about, but the manager if this branch doesn't seem to appreciate any sort of complaint his way and it was rudely dismissed.. Today I thought I'd pop back and see if they had sorted it out, but it seems they are experimenting with different potatoes, that is what I was told by a staff member when I looked at the food she served me after I told her the food looked 'well cooked. The chips were really dark brown and parts of the meal were actually burnt and black, which is the polar opposite of how they used to be, pale but perfectly cooked. This was the last visit for me.

Absolutely gorgeous food..Had the fish and chips and they were the best..Had to queue for a table and the restaurant was packed and also the takeaway part there was a queue out the door..The serving staff were very efficient and you didn't have to wait too long for your order and everything was cooked to order and very fresh and the fish melted in your mouth and the batter was very light and crispy..Would highly recommend and would definitely visit again.

Visited bank Holiday Monday. The car park was very busy but we got seated straightaway with no waiting. Service was quick and the food was good. A bit pricey (£12.45 for regular fish and chips) tea/coffee, peas/beans/curry etc all extra ££. Approx. £32 for 2.

We celebrated my sons birthday here last night. We were a party of 17. The food was lovely, it all came out together and the staff was friendly and helpful. My daughter is celiac and has to have a gluten-free diet. She had different options to choose from, which made the experience nice and easy for her. I would highly recommend it. 👌

Food amazing. They try to get you in and out as fast as possible. The checkout perso. Was very friendly but the people who hand over the food just did it in a confusing way and seemed like they really didn't want to be there. Odd.

Went on a Saturday afternoon with my parents. It's always great. They really know what they are doing. The food is gorgeous and the service impeccable. The haddock tasted very fresh with wispy light batter. Overall, everyone loved the food and experience. Can't wait to come back.

Always extremely busy, we've eaten in and also had their takeaway and their food is always amazing. They have streamlined the service so everything is very quick and smooth whilst also giving you enough time to eat and enjoy your meal. Would definitely recommend! Not often that a chippy needs an overflow car park but this one is very warranted! :)

I'm talking about the take-out part and not the restaurant which is why the atmosphere is low. This Fish and Chip shop is the best one there is. It's filling, delicious and not overly-expensive for how much you get in it.

Excellent service and great food. The fish is perfectly cooked and the batter is crisp without being too thick and soggy.

Generally good food but on my last two visits, the chips haven't been up to the standard that I have come to expect from Whitbys. In the past, the chips were nice and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, however, these days, the chips are on the edge of being undercooked. Just soft on the outside and kinda hard in the middle. It's a shame, this used to be my favourite chip shop

Fantastic place. We now take this as our favourite place to eat out. Food is hot and very tasty, surprisingly fichand chips are not greasey at all. Really friendly and helpful staff.
