Never had a bad meal and staff absolutely Brill.

Absolute amazing cook ,and fantastic staff, all greet you with a friendly smile and welcome. And the food! Batter so light you have to have a few bags of scraps (no point letting it go to waste.) On one point, I'd love if they done deep fried haggis.

Lovely food, busy staff but unless you preorder you'll have a while to wait...

I made my first visit to King cod fish bar last Friday. The fish bites and chips I ordered were some of the tastiest we’ve ever had, according to mum, my kebab was also delicious. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, the prices are also refreshingly reasonable, my only slight niggle is the waiting time, despite there only being two customers in the shop ahead of me, we were all waiting for quite a while due to online orders being prepared,. Apart from that 10 out of 10, if this standard is maintained, this will be my go to chippy from now on!.

Not the best experience. I ordered a large donor Kebab, when I opened it home, which is 3 mins drive away, I was shocked at the size and it was clock cold. Thankfully it tasted ok. The staff and friendly but there are inefficiencies in the way people are served, detail with online orders rather than people stood in the shop queuing.

Gone downhill sadly, chips were dry and flavourless. Tasted reheated. Ate about 4 and had to throw them away because it was the saddest tasting meal ever

Great chippy that does a good selection of food. The kebabs are a good size and price and have 3 meat options, donner meat, chicken and chicken tikka. Chips have always been good.

I were delivering parcels for Amazon in the area, and I were looking for a quick brew. Stopped by King Cod and On their menu a mixed wrap its £4 yes four pound. Good meat, and friendly staff. Highly recommend

Unfortunately seems they have increased the prices, due to supplier costs, but have also reduced the portion sizes. Especially on a large mixed kebab. Not really large for just short of £7 compared to others. Quality is OK, but feels like a rip off.

Called in on our way home from work to the ‘staff’ swearing at customers and each other and also arguing among themselves, waited about 20 mins for food, half of order missing and food wasn’t great threw most of it in the bin, definitely going to be finding a new chippy

I had two kebabs from there, one doner and one chicken. The portion size was very small, and the taste was not great. The chicken doner was very dry as it had probably been sat in the hot vat for ages. More care is needed when serving food to customers. Otherwise, they will never return.

Absolutely beautiful fish, chips and Mushy peas, can't rate the food or the service at all. Delicious 😋

Excellent quality and portion size. Highly recommended by my family. Had to change from our usual chippy as they went card only for payment. Defo picked a gud'un with King Cod

Had food from here! Not brill, the chips was hard, fish slice not great, so will not be back in a hurry I'm afraid.

Decent fish and chips shop, tend to cook fish to order at quiet times ensuring that the food is hot.

Never had a bad meal yet and was hoping to use this week as the lockdown eases and we feel safe to venture out. We keep passing as we go to the shops but sorry to say they have a sign saying "CARD READER BROKEN " This has been like this for days and really should be fixed by now ,a card reader is not expensive . All we want is fish and chips ,tap our card to pay and we are on our way ! Please get it mended ASAP so we are not messing with money in these Covid times . We used Wickersley chippie instead but will return to our local once this is sorted out.

If you're looking for freshly cooked fish and chips then this is the place. I'm a bit of a regular over the years and I can say they are consistently good. Try their large fish, my personal favourite.

Always fresh and really good value.. Usually busy which can only mean one thing.. good food

The staff are generally rude and uninterested here. Used to go quite a bit when George had it, but has since changed a few times I think and have been again which is the first time in ages and again met with rude staff, hardly any chicken meat! I really only go here as a very last measure although it's only a minutes walk. After the issues sometime ago ended up using the Chip Inn and go there u less I've had a drink and cant drink.

Far too many chips for one person,half as many of good quality would be much better.The fish was dry and chewy and peas were cold.

Clean shop friendly staff great portion sizes I use this fish shop on a regular basis. Never had a complaint. Now changed hands not as good as it used to be. Shame . 31/03/2018 added one star after a couple of more visits much improved.

Not very good this evening got all way back home. Got plates out to find part of order wrong. So had to go all way back down.

Shocking... found hairs in the food. The fish was a bit rubbery. Make sure you ask for salt and vineagar as well because they won't put it on otherwise.

Average fish & chips but too slow at lunch time. 15 minutes waiting at lunchtime because there was only 1 serving 😔.

i hate kebabs with gristle , i hate poor quality fish.........king cod has none of this and is the only chip shop i go to and its 4 miles away from me best chippy ever.......ps try the homemade fishcakes:)
