Just moved to the Island and found this gem of a chip shop. The food was excellent, staff friendly and a short wait for freshly cooked fish and chips. Will definitely be our go to in the future🙂

Ok food nothing to shout about. The service , however is atrocious. Ordered for my family and I and took over an hour to get our food. Fair enough it was a weekend so gave benefit of the doubt so the next occasion decided to order online so the kids didn’t freeze waiting outside. Ordered the food , set the time slot to collect and still waited over forty minutes over the time stated online. Got home and the order was completely wrong and no straws for the kids drinks. Went back to get the missing items and no apology just “ so you are sure this wasn’t in the bag?” As if I was pulling a fast one. Never again 👎

I have to say the overall quality was very good ordered some stuff for myself and my kids The 3 staff members really nice polite and helpful The chips where really nice some of the best i have had from a fish and chips and the battered sausage was spot on tasted like a decent quality sausage so overall the food I can not fault what so ever Now I will say the shop itself needs some work for what they say is a award winning fish and chips the sign outside is broken and the interior of the shop needs some love battered paintwork and the chairs inside I could get newer 1s from a charity shops just old and dirty Overall a lovely fish and chip shop well priced I felt but was disappointed when standing inside waiting for my order it was a little grim

Here on holiday from germany, first ever glutenfree fish&chips. Absolutly delishes, no difference to a "normal". Made me very happy :)

Drove from Chichester to hayling to get whistler's fish and chips and sit on beach and arrived to find they are closed when online says they are open.couldnt even update there opening times on Google very poor

Best chips I've tasted in a long time. Stopped in just before closing and yet the chips were still freshly cooked and cooked to perfection. Will be visiting again.

No online booking, but thankfully I rang to check as the money was pending in my account so would have been left with no food if I hadn’t as they had no idea of my order. It’s a 2 minute walk from the house. The food was stone cold, the chicken was dry with flabby and not crispy skin! Very small portions and not nice at all. No delivery service at 8pm either. It has been run by a bunch of children for a long time and I keep giving the place chance after chance and have never had a good meal. The young girl that did eventually answer the phone was polite and courteous though, it’s not her fault that the online booking wasn’t working, there wasn’t any delivery and oh they couldn’t take card payments, only cash and only collection! I won’t be making the same mistake again. Too many chances sadly. Since the review the owners made contact and were very helpful and clearly want the best from this establishment for their customers! The good customer service after complaint would add another star.

The food is _ok_ (but nothing to write home about) and my experience is more about the wait for it. There always seems loads of people working behind the counter, but it takes _ages_ to get food - even when it's a simple order with all of the items in the warmer. Everything seems to be done in strict order no matter whether logic would allow others to be served and got out of the shop. So, don't go there if you're in a hurry!

Very tasty fish and chips, portions are generous as well. We sat on the bench in a nearby park and enjoyed it the sunshine :)

Well went here yesterday there was a wait it was busy and I went there because a friend told me they were good fish and chips we had medium cod and chips and a sausage for the dog the chips were like end of day chips bits the fish was over cooked and the dog did not eat the sausage not again

Looking forward to-be having fish and chips, a small portion. When I got home I could see instantly the fish was over cooked and the chips I had were the bits 😩 not a happy person.

So pleased to find this chip shop do gluten free fish and chips on a Wednesday and Sunday. Ten minute wait while they cooked, but more than happy to wait for somewhere willing to cater for dietary requirements. Made a very happy holiday maker.

We placed a large order with Whistlers in Hayling Island for over 100 orders. The manager, Sophie, was brilliant and so helpful. Sophie delivered over 100 fish ‘n’ chips, ahead of schedule and everything was warm and delicious. I’m not sure how they managed it with such a big order but they exceeded our expectations, we would definitely recommend! Thank you!

Charged more then advertised on the menu , told price had gone up

Savaloy was microwaved it taste like rubber and it had exploded and alot of scraps in the chips

Curry made from a kettle. paid for a large portions of chips an got a small portion no salt an vinger on chips an the meal was almost cold. Would not recommend to anyone

Great local chippy, good selection and good quality food. The ability to order and pay online is brilliant, particularly during the pandemic. Plenty of free parking just outside.

Meh, might of been award winning food back in 2015 but certainly isn't now, the chicken was dry and bland and the burger was undercooked and unseasoned, chippy seems to be ran by a bunch of teenagers or college students, girl on the till looked very depressed and unhelpful.

What a shambles! Not my Idea of fast food.....2x Sausage and chips over 30mins when I was told 10mins. Looks like locals get to skip the queue too. It was complete chaos in there with most orders taking in excess of 30mins. Not exactly busy either only 7 customers max. I'd give this chippy a miss unless you have time to kill. Oh the food was ok. Not great but ok.

They need to recruit some grown ups. Teenagers who seem more interested in pratting around with one another or getting out for a crafty 🚬 . So after relaying the order back to me and repeating it twice, I did not get an item i had asked for. Bit more professionalism would pay off. The food, however, is good and could not fault that. It's just a shame it's let down by immature behaviours.

Went at 8 pm as fancied sausage and chips on drive home, probably worst chips I’ve ever had !! The chips must of been cooked at lunchtime, completely not fresh at all, practically all went in bin !!

Dreadful experience. I arrived at midday and ordered a large cod to take away. The cost was a breathtaking £8.55 - which I accepted as I was in a hurry between jobs. The food was made to order. When it was served, not only was it terribly overcooked, but it was only a small piece of fish. Almost inedible, chewy with overcooked batter, but I was pushed for time to complain or re-order. This is the second dreadful experience at Whistlers. Their Westbourne shop was equally poor. They have gone so far downhill and with extremely escalating prices for their food, they won't see me again. Dreadful. Go to Elliotts on the seafront.

Had OAP special which was excellent. Lovely fish with loads of chips. Busy little place. Very friendly staff. Suggest phoning order through on Saturday nights. Highly recommend it if in the area.

Was recommended to me, so went to shop on Saturday last week to pick up a medium cod n chip and battered sausage and chips. Hmmm either Cod suffer from dwarfism or i got a goldfish in batter, rattled around in the tray like it was trying to escape. Chips were more like potato scratchings, were so over cooked and hardly any normal chips. Battered sausage was nice, but again the chips were not very nice very bitty. All this after waiting in excess of 30 mins on my feet in the shop, staff seemed more interested in chatting to each other than interacting with clientele when they arrived. Wont be using this place again.

Been twice in the same long weekend because they are so nice. Food was amazing - fresh cooked. Staff were all great. Will be back next time I am on Hayling!

A bit of a wait as it was very busy, to be expected on easter Saturday tbh but well worth the wait, best battered cod I’ve had in a long time, great chips too.

Lovely fish and chips- £37 for 4 medium Cod and chips- crispy batter, soft fish and lovely chips. No complaints, would recommend and definitely visit again if we ever came back.

Would not recommend this chip shop sorry to say but the food was cold the chips where mainly black n very small bits fish was cold really not worth the money I wish I had taken the food back really not nice food

The last few deliveries have been disappointing. Today, the delivery wasn't right, and the staff member was dismissive. Paid for delivery, small fish was given instead of large, small chips instead of large, missing sausage. Called and explained it was fine about the fish and chips but I'm missing one person's meal in the delivery. The member of staff replied that it could be credited back to account, I said that one person is missing their meal so could it be delivered please? The answer was at 7.30pm- This was at 6.15pm... I explained that the rest of the meal would be cold and she said, well you can come get it yourself? So opted to credit account. Quite disappointed about this, after a long week for the children and my partner it was an end of week family treat that we could enjoy together yet 1 person missed out. Hopefully, the previous standards that the chip shop had resume and maybe in the mean time the staff members learn how to become empathic towards their customers... Poor customer service, Whistler's.

Amazing chips. They were perfect tonight. Straight out of the fryer, golden and delicious. Had the local butchers sausage in batter and the flavour was amazing. Couldn’t ask for more.

Great chips and chicken nuggets

Sadly this was not as expected. We ordered Haddock, cod and half a chicken with 3 small chips and curry sauce. The batter on both fish was way overcooked, the chicken was extremely dry. Curry sauce was very nice! Spending over £30 on 3 meals I would have e expected better.

Just had our Huss and chips and a cod Ordered on app , ready in 15 minutes. Food was bloody lovely . Cooked fresh and really hot . Thanks so much Keep up the good work as you were so busy

We decided to try Whistlers after reading reviews on the Mill Rythe Trip Advisor page. We ordered online and delivery was quick and on time, the driver was friendly. The food was hot and plentiful. We ordered fish and chips which were delicious, battered pigs in blankets, spring rolls and deep fried battered halloumi which was exceptional. We were really impressed with the food delivered and the cost was reasonable. If you’re ever on Hayling Island, Whistlers is well worth a visit

In my opinion best chippy on island

Delivery over 30 minutes late, food barely warm, batter on fish hard and overcooked, chips small and hard like those from the bottom of the fryer, very sad and disappointed, Whistler's used to be excellent. Put he whole lot in the bin and bought a pizza. Ordered 17h48 for delivery 18h45 to 19h00, telephoned at 19h15, did not ask my n p (stock answer I guess without knowing which order) eventually received a poor meal at 17h32. This did happen back in May but I let it go as I thought it was an exception.

I ordered online, then after an hour chased the food to be told the online systems was not working but they did take payment and then to get my food I had to order and pay over the phone again. Told my money would be return in a few days and two weeks later despite chasing no responses. So paid all that money for food to take 2hrs and for me to chase and double pay. Very dodgy. This was the Westbourne store.

Great Fish n Chip. Good choice of fish ..tried the Cod, Haddock and Huss...all cooked to perfection ...still have the Roe, Sole Place n Scampi to try. Hadn't had Huss before and will have again. Chips are great as is the Chicken n Mushroom Vegan...

The steak pie crust was rock hard. I couldn't break the crust with a fork, was not hot and I had had to bin it . The chips were in a poor state. We arrived 10 minutes before our stated take away pick up time...

We got a recommendation from a local chap while out for a walk. Ordered 2 Cod and Chips, 2 Haddock and chips and 1 curry sauce in store. Ready within 10 minutes. Had to pop across the road for cash in atm as cash only ( not sue if this is always the case) Absolutely delicious, fresh crispy and hot with no excess grease. Recommended.
