It was my lucky night, got 2 medium cod’s for the price of a large, and small chips. Way more than I could eat and really nice. The staff were really nice and friendly…and pretty hot too!!!

Best takeaway F&Cs on the Island. (Remember at lunch they close at 2pm).

We had almost given up on fish and chips because we were dissapointed with everywhere we went. Whistlers has changed our minds. We drive over from Chichester once a week. It is lovely, best we've had in years!!!

Would not recommend this chip shop sorry to say but the food was cold the chips where mainly black n very small bits fish was cold really not worth the money I wish I had taken the food back really not nice food

Best chips anywhere ever! A good selection of standard chip shop offerings, but also some not so standard including vegetarian options. Quorn nuggets advertised (they definitely aren't Quorn, but an option is appreciated). Also advertised is proper local sausages in addition to the 'normal' ones, local island ice-cream, and gluten free options twice a week. Did I mention the best chips ever???

The absolute best fish n chip shop ever. The chips are to die for. Beautifully golden brown and crispy. Good portion size. Nice friendly staff.

Came on Saturday and had the best some of the best food on the island I’ve had in years. The young man who served me was incredibly kind and attentive, and we had a lovely conversation. I believe the name he told me was Lloyd. Excellent food and service, Lloyd you are a credit to the business 😊😊

I use Whistler's often and the quality of the food is fantastic, I had scampi and chips, good price and the chips were cooked well and the scampi was excellent.

Went in on Wednesday and ordered scampi and chips. Both were cooked really well and the scampi was excellent. The staff are very friendly.

We've been frequenting this place for a few years now for the lunchtime specials which have been good one week bad the next, our recent evening visit was for two normal mains at nearly £25 and upon arriving home we had to bin the lot as they were disgusting, a total waste of money, you need to maintain the oil your cooking the food in, deep blue went through a phase like this but have now got better.

Love the cod roe, difficult to get at home. We visit from Scotland four times (week) a year. Whistlers is our first to-do task. Great selection and portion size.

Great Wee Fish & Chip shop. We have been coming to the Hayling Island shop over the last few years when we are down from Fife, about three to four weeks per year. Cod Roe, my favourite, is difficult to get in Scotland. Great variety of portions size and a good menu. It tops our to-do list on arrival.

Not being local you always take a gamble with food, tripadviser had this as no2 best fish & chips on the island, but no1 wasn’t take away anyway so went here, just perfect all round, should be no1 in my opinion, lovely friendly staff too, curry sauce😀

On holiday so Fish and Chips is a must! After checking reviews decided on Whistler's. Found the staff really friendly and the food choice good. We had an OAP cod, cod roe and a meat pie. All cooked really well and tasty, chips were great and not too outrageously priced. Would definitely recommend...

Best fish and chips we've had for a long time. Lovely batter on the fish and the chips were so nice and crunchy. Ordering was so easy on line. It was good to be able to order different size fish. Shame we live in Sheffield!

Went to whistler's last night we had fish and chips for 3 adults 1 child and a burger and chips which was lovely but we waited 30 minutes trying to explain to our kids that the food want be long was a nightmare if it was a restraunt I would of expected to wait but not a fish shop so unfortunately we will not be coming back .

Sun 18 Au 5.30. Went here as it had good reviews. A complete shambles. Staff bickering between themselves. Waited a very long time but worse thing was that I was charged for a fish and chips that I didn't receive. Feeding hungry children so couldn't go back to rectify. Might have been a glitch but wouldn't risk it.

Just back from Hayling Island, found this chip shop by pure accident as its not on the main road!! Food was great, really tasty, service was brilliant and considering the fire they had a few days before, everything was great!!!

Visited 6 pm on a sunny Tuesday during the school holidays. There were only two young people working there and it was very busy. I felt very sorry for the staff as they were doing their best in difficult circumstances. A bit of grumbling from customers but most people realised the delays weren’t their fault. The fish and chips were good which was the main thing!!

I recently purchased some fish and chips from whistlers. And I can only say all of it was absolutely lovely. Fresh fish and chips none of which were oily and soggy. I used to use another chip shop on the island. But whistlers is by far the best on Hayling island. I recommend whistlers to anyone, congratulations on improving the quality and service to your customers. Also, may I say, thank you for the blue light/NHS discount. There are no other chip shops on Hayling Island that offer the emergency services any discount, only whistlers 💯👍

I am a regular to this establishment as it is very local to me I generally use their online services to order food and have it delivered. Their food can be very hit or miss sometimes it’s fantastic but sometimes it can be a bit off the mark. my number one disappointment with this shop is that when you order online you can place special requests/requirement I have found that these very often either get ignored or forgotten or just not read in general as I do have special dietary requirements which I always list that specific part of my order is very often very disappointing there has been occasions that I have had to contact the shop to complain about what I have received and have been called a lier despite the fact my husband is a chef so can automatically see that my dietary requirements have not been followed and they do replace begrudgingly that part of my order. however when they do get it right the food is fantastic and my partner loves the fish. great portions for a great price just wish they would pay more attention to what the customer has asked for and are paying for especially when they are DIETARY requirements. This is a very popular shop on the island so I do understand they are busy but all of this can be avoided if they just slowed down a tad to pay attention to the customers needs and what food they are producing then they wouldn’t need to replace the order and I wouldn’t need to have to ring and complain as I HATE doing that

Just ordered 2 fish and 1 large chips. I am extremely disappointed with this! I had to wait nearly 40 minutes for my order, though it seemed the locals had priority. When we opened it, I was disgusted. The large chips were small, but also very oily and tasteless. The fish was a huge grease fest, the greasiest fish I’ve ever had. Thank god it was tiny, as any bigger would have made us sick! On a whole, this is the worst fish and chip shop on the island, dirty, disgusting food!!!

Well, we love the fact that Whistlers on Hayling Island is so local and enroute to the beach.....bbbut, sadly its pretty busy, which is great for business but sometimes the service drops away. This is the third time I have ordered on line or by phone, in advance and found the service wanting. this time I rang and was left on hold for 30 minutes, meaning I arrived and the phone was still on the side waiting to be picked up by the lady taking orders. Probably best, next time for the staff to take the call and just say, 'sorry, we are so busy please order on arrival' or, why not have someone else take the telephone orders at busy times? secondly, having ordered salt and vinegar, it was missed out and we arrived at the beach with no dressings. I really like the fish and chips prepared by Whistlers, but it would be great to sort the service side too. best wishes Jezz

Absolutely amazing service here. The the food was on point. Tastiest fish and chips I've had in a long time. The manager - Emma went out of her way to accommodate for our needs and she cooked our fish separately to the meat and was so lovely about it too. She made sure all staff were aware of our needs. I don't normally leave reviews. However the fish and chips I had from Whistler's are so good that they deserve to be recommended. The chips were perfect.The fish and batter the best I have ever had. Give them a try. Like me you will be back for more.

Food good, service appalling when only youngsters left running it. I walked out in disgust without buying on my last visit. Needs experienced adult at all times.

Not a good experience. Waited 30 mins for take out. Small portions too. Medium cod was small. Medium chips on the smaller side, to the point where we couldn't share. Its was like my order was forgotten about as it took forever. Young lady serving was also taking telephone orders and trying to keep up with getting orders bagged up. She was overwhelmed whilst 3 others stood at the back talking. Wouldn't return.

I have been getting fish and chips from Whistlers for a while now as they are my local! Always service with a smile and the cod is amazing! Chips are spot on and a cheeky curry sauce and a drink. Well worth the price! Whistling all the way home with my cod and chips! Thanks Whistlers team! You are all awesome! Will be looking forward to my next visit (they deliver too but nice to pop in for that freshness and a smile)

My wife and I last bought fish and chips here in April 2022 when I gave a five star rating. This time we ordered two large haddock, one small chips and one mushy peas which we ate on a nearby park bench under resplendent sunshine. Portion size was good as was the quality of the fish. Chips and mushy peas were excellent. The only let down was that the batter was a little greasy, though I do appreciate the difficulty in getting the frying time exactly right. Overall, not bad at all and I will still continue to use this fish and chip shop. Note that our order cost £22.60 which I consider to be on the expensive side. Other customers, who appeared to be in the senior citizen category, went for the special OAP option which was £6. For those who qualify, this appears to be a better price option.

Well we read the reviews and thought is a good chip shop. Just had our meal large chips large fish two large sausages and curry sauce £22 pounds. Looking at the meal it’s small fish small chips large sausages over cooked and poor quality curry sauce Won’t be going back there any time soon No wonder this place has a one star food hygiene rating

Probably the worse fish and chips I've had from here. The fish was small, broken in half and cold. The pie was luke warm and the chips, although lovely, were a much smaller portion than usual. The fish and the pie were boxed up before the chips were even cooked which took at least another 4-5 minutes. Sadly I won't be rushing back again soon and will try somewhere else.

Food was great. And loved Emma made you feel very welcome and very personable.

Sat for about 20 mins waiting, which was no problem, but watching member of staff continually licking her finger every time she put paper under the fish ewww.

Yet again no card machine working. In this day and age it seems ridiculous to have this happen time and again. Won’t bother coming again.

The chips here are THE best chips I think I have ever had! We stopped for food to bring to the beach and I can’t stop thinking about how good the chips were. I had a pineapple fritter too and the batter was amazing! The staff were helpful and patient.

Ordered online for delivery @ 7:00pm which arrived @ 6:59pm, by delivery driver who was very friendly. All the food was piping hot, generous portions and of very good quality. I live in Scotland but I will definitely use this chippy again when visiting Hayling Island. Well done everyone for excellent food and service.⭐️👏🏻

Regularly get the OAP special and it’s ok , but tonight we’ll what a let down, fish was nice but the chips were horrible ,looked like they’d picked out all the chips that weren’t good enough to go in main meals , they were hard .,small bits of chips and some were dark brown and so overcooked ,neither my husband or I could eat them, very very disappointed indeed, and afraid I shan’t go back even though it’s very local to me as I live at other end of road

We've just collected 3 cod and 3 chips ended up with 1 piece of fish OK and 2 empty batter casings. Not impressed at all won't be return customers.

Just moved to the Island and found this gem of a chip shop. The food was excellent, staff friendly and a short wait for freshly cooked fish and chips. Will definitely be our go to in the future🙂

Ok food nothing to shout about. The service , however is atrocious. Ordered for my family and I and took over an hour to get our food. Fair enough it was a weekend so gave benefit of the doubt so the next occasion decided to order online so the kids didn’t freeze waiting outside. Ordered the food , set the time slot to collect and still waited over forty minutes over the time stated online. Got home and the order was completely wrong and no straws for the kids drinks. Went back to get the missing items and no apology just “ so you are sure this wasn’t in the bag?” As if I was pulling a fast one. Never again 👎

I have to say the overall quality was very good ordered some stuff for myself and my kids The 3 staff members really nice polite and helpful The chips where really nice some of the best i have had from a fish and chips and the battered sausage was spot on tasted like a decent quality sausage so overall the food I can not fault what so ever Now I will say the shop itself needs some work for what they say is a award winning fish and chips the sign outside is broken and the interior of the shop needs some love battered paintwork and the chairs inside I could get newer 1s from a charity shops just old and dirty Overall a lovely fish and chip shop well priced I felt but was disappointed when standing inside waiting for my order it was a little grim
