My friends and I came here after work last night - it is such a comfortable pub! The prices are very reasonable (£18 for three drinks, two of which were larger drinks) and the atmosphere is great all round. The staff are also great and the refurb has made the pub so much better. I would definitely come here again 🥰

The night was a great night the staff where lovely and place was to however after my lovely night out I checked my bank statement the next day and the same round of drinks became more and more expensive each time round it seems as tho they feel they can charge whatever they want for drinks and the more you drink the more they’ll charge you ! This ruined the experience and I won’t be coming back again this is actually illegal but hey ho!

Staff are terrible especially the bouncers, they will just kick you out for basically being there apparently, doesn’t make sense. They won’t even tell you why they have kicked you out. Honestly they have a power hungry security guard and she shouldn’t a job, honestly awful experience.

My daughter was spoken to appallingly by one of the bouncers here tonight. If they employ staff like this then best to avoid. Bouncers are there to keep the peace, not belittle women. Very disappointed that they allow this 😕

Door staff are complete idiots. Any group without women are turned away for being “too drunk”. This was the previous time. I shied away from leaving a review the previous time because we may have been too drunk. But I know we were not. Today, we were turned away with the pub empty after being told the previous pub we’d been in had kicked us out. Complete lies, as Wetherspoons just up the road have lovely, friendly door staff that don’t lie for no reason and are completely okay and so friendly with us. We do not cause any problems. The door staff today had a person with them with no identification that decided he was going to be physical with myself for asking the question why we were not allowed in. I was in no way physical. But this certain person pushed me forcefully three times and made up a complete lie that I was threatening them, what is threatening about one man against 4 bouncers??? We are not desperate for a pub to go in. But the treatment of male customers is appalling in this pub on a Saturday night. Avoid at all cost, unless you’re female… then you’ll be let in straight away because the door staff are sexist and perverts. They are not getting anything out of turning away three normal men but they decide to do so because of their egos and to look like they’re the big men. This review is nothing against the actual place. But if anyone from Whelans is reading this, I think it’s time for some new door staff, they really are awful people. This is not the first time I’ve been turned away without doing anything wrong. I’d understand if I was absolutely battered, but we were not either time. Maybe this is a charitable company and they don’t need the business??? Time for the door staff to lose their egos and stop thinkung they’re Hitler and get over themselves when it comes to male customers. Poor all round and won’t bother again. Door staff obviously being paid stupid money to not worry about actually letting any customers in. Also, being pushed away for zero reason is wrong and next time I’ll take it into my own hands and won’t be manhandled by a man with no ID (claiming he worked there) again. Whelans. Sort your door staff out. Or you will continue to lose business.

Down in Uxbridge for 6 months, myself and colleagues decided to stop in for a couple pints. The place seemed reasonably tidy, except the toilet as the cleaner has not managed to find it to clean. The staff are rude, stating no hats to be worn because of cctv. Not a welcoming place in any shape or form. My advice either give your staff the boot or retrain them but in the meantime we won’t be spending any money here …… no wonder it’s empty !!!!

I’ve been here a handful of times at the weekend and it’s always the same story. Seriously overcrowded past 10:30ish and there’s always fights. The bouncers don’t help much to stop the trouble also. I’m surprised the council have not revoked there license.

Last year I thought I'd found a great place for Sunday Lunch. Then they got a new chef so started to come weekdays too, They also played trad Irish song and music. Great. BUT no longer will I patronise this place. And I'm pi$$ed off having to find Sunday Lunch elsewhere. Today it was sweltering so at about 4.00pm I called in for a cold Guinness. The bar was entirely empty. At 75 I'm elderly and I have a medical condition so whilst the barman poured the Guinness I went upstairs to the loo. These were disgusting and stinking as usual, with no working locks on the doors, and tops of the cubicle doors smashed off - par for course. BTW being Irish I was wearing a cap as usual but also to avoid sunburn. All 75's in Ireland wear caps!!! When I came down my drink was ready - a bit low in the glass and no shamrock in the foam - but a real 'pint' of Guinness. Anyway the barman muttered something - in an Irish brogue unintelligible to me - I'm partly deaf - but he refused to tell me the price. Strange. After asking him to repeat what he was saying, it transpired that he was ordering me to remove my cap, an elderly Irish customer, in an empty bar, at 4.00pm., FGS. This obviously bothered him very much. What an oik. So Whelan's have now lost a regular Sunday Lunch customer with friends, and a customer for other meals and drinks. And we wont be attending music nights. Oh - and the Guinness was an eye-watering £4.85.

As usual Wheelans is a great place to go out and socialise with great music and a decent crowd on the weekend. However The place is disgustingly hot with no air-con as you walk into this pub in the heart of west of london you get hit with this heat rush (just as you would getting off a plane in the canary islands in the middle of August) literally everyone on the dance floor and surrounding area is sweating (exactly like how you would after a marathon) it is ridiculous hot and you can see that without even asking people, there are people who have taken there own fans and are scavenging around to find items/objects to fan themselves down to stay cool. if you go in you will be sure to come out feeling anorexic from the amount you sweat or leaving feeling like you don't need to go to the gym for the rest of the week from just standing on the dance floor for only 5 minutes. For only £5 entry on a Saturday night you can save yourself a good part of £20 without visiting an actual sauna.. absolute bargain! However… Drink prices are overly priced for the amount a double vodka coke costs you will have to be ready to remortgaging your house in no time…

Unfortunately, I am a local and a regular but recent visits have completely ruined my experience. Firstly, the bouncers are rude, arrogant and have no care for the establishments clientele. I've seen innocents abused and thrown out due to the nature of their dictatorship and desire to assert their dominance. My care for the establishment has been ruined. Their food is worse than a 80s microwave party and is an embarrassment to anywhere who wants a have a restaurant license. Seriously, avoid if you want an enjoyable night with friends.

Now to me, £5 a head to get into a bar on a Saturday night means that I would normally expect something special once I walked through the door, but this was not the case here. The pub was okay and when the band came on they were okay too. However this place has gone downhill since may last visit so I will be in no hurry to go back. The bar staff were not as friendly as before when I had been. The Gents toilets could do with a thorough clean. The bouncers were quite friendly though. In summary an okay pub, but quite expensive for an evening out because of the cover charge.

Been here a few times since it opened, for late nights and lunches. The food is delicious - my favourite dish is the pie and mash. The staff are very friendly and the service is excellent. Despite how busy the bar is, I usually get served quickly. I feel the only downfall is that you have to pay a fiver to get in on Friday and Saturdays and the drinks are expensive.

We went for lunch on Wednesday and were so impressed that we booked a table for Sunday lunch. One piece of advice, make sure that you are hungry when you go, the portions are very generous, the serving of pork belly on Sunday beat Annie and her sister. Called in at this pub with my wife and son for a drink on a Wednesday night and to our surprise some musicians turned up, sat on the settees and chairs in the corner and played traditional Irish music. No stage, no speakers and it was incredible, a free low key concert. When I asked the staff they told me this was a regular Wednesday night feature. This pub is spacious, offers an interesting menu, with a few typically Irish dishes at what seems to be reasonable prices. I intend going back in the future on a Wednesday night to listen to the music and try one of the Irish meals.

Not sure what's going wrong with this venue. When it first opened it was thriving with some great bands and a good atmosphere. Over the last few months the bands seem to be getting worse. Solo acts and Duos now play along to backing tracks and full bands appear to be diminishing, if you advertise Live Music that's what it should be and not musicians playing along to backing tracks.

My wife and I just finished a truly excellent late lunch at Whelan's. This pub has a challenging location - next door but one to a Wetherspoon's I but the new management team has turned it into the best place for a pub lunch in Uxbridge. The fish & chips is always superbly fresh and good quality and I would rate their cheeseburger the best I have ever had - on either side of the Atlantic. The decor and furniture are cheerful and the lounge extension at the back is bright, airy and inviting. Even the side salad was well above standard. A superb place to eat and relax.

Kids always loved Bubble Tea so consistently ordered it online from here. Was a good thing that the kids forgot to have them one one occasion. Opened the seal from both plastic containers to empty them out (needed to recycle). One was completely fine but the other had a maggot inside with the bubbles. Paranoid now if the kids had actually swallowed any maggots whenever we ordered from there.
