Wheelers in Derry

i got boba and i’m about d boke everywhere and ur women took about thirty years to make my drink and ik it’s just her being slow cus blondy was making everyone else’s drinks pure fast.dunno what atmosphere means

Aligning with other posts for Wheelers, we ordered some takeaway food at the counter on 05/04/24. We hadn't been to Wheelers in a while so we're looking forward to some tasy food. We ordered a fish supper, goujon meal and a battered sausage supper plus some extras. The total came to just over £40. Firstly, the fish supper...a small piece of cod and a mediocre bag of chips for a whopping 12.95!!! Fish was overcooked by a country mile and chips were barely there - was also under the impression you got a potion of peas but staff didnt ask. This used to be a sizeable portion and you could barely finish, but not now. The goujons were also very overcooked to the point of being inedible. Curry sauce, seemed frozen and then heated...was very lumpy in texture and wasn't really stirred when heating. Unfortunately, Wheelers time as an enjoyable takeaway or sit in has passed. Other takeaways provide larger, tastier portions for much less money. We won't be back...

Had a lovely burger and chips. Friendly staff, fast service.

Staff don't want to be there, barely notice U at the counter, even when it's empty, and then the food well 🤮

Used to love Wheelers, but is now really poor, will never be back nor will any of my friends or family, had gotten really expensive and quality of food really poor, staff not at all helpful and the the atmosphere is also really bad, very cold to sit and try to eat. Fish was very poor, I couldn't even eat it, chips were hard and tasted raw.

Smallest portions I have ever seen, look at the size of the “large chips” lol. And portion of rice for 3 quid isnt enough for 1 person.

Update. This place is so slow. Very long waiting times even for the easiest of orders. Three plain burger meals took 45 minutes. There was a time when a trip to Wheelers meant good food was eminent. Unfortunately, those days are long gone and it's mainly a complete disappointment. Food is tasteless, the chips are barely cooked, the burgers are disappointing. The chicken is either fatty or dry. I could go on. Never again. Awful.

Always food missing from order everytime i order give yee a discount for spending so much for them not to put half the order in is a bit pointless other than that foods okay

The food is really good, I took a star off because the portions are a lot smaller than they were. A large back fills a small brown bag, and it's £3.50. I called in and ordered at the till and staff were nice, but they definitely prioritised app orders over people in the actual shop. I waited 25 minutes for 1 pizza and bag of chips and the people before and after me were away with their food. Aside from that what we got was really tasty, best pizza I have had in a while.

How on earth is a business like this still operating in 2023? So many things wrong with this. Ordered a takeaway for my two kids and waited 1hr 15mins when told on the phone 30mins. When I called back to get a expected time, told the “driver will be with you soon”. When the food arrived, overcharged by £4 (guessing that’s a delivery charge) for a late delivery! My sons ‘kids curry’ was some sliced chicken, powdered gravy granules mixed with curry powder! Dark brown, far too spicy and disgusting! Absolutely no nutrition and a cheek to be called a curry! We call him the human dustbin as he eats everything! NOT this junk…it went in the bucket where it belonged. My other child’s nuggets (3 small bits of chicken) were seriously overcooked, dry and the chicken inside was tough. He ate a few, cold chips and that went in the bucket to keep the curry company. No reply on a phone call, probably just as well. No email Address to contact the business. They probably don’t want to know.

Probably the worst customer service I have experienced in a while. Ordered pizza and chips, bags of chips were tiny, pizza base was so dry and chewy. Was also given the wrong order, when phoned to rectify the issue I was surprised to experience such rudeness from staff. Definitely won’t be back and would advise others to avoid also

If I could give wheelers less than one star I would. I honestly think I’ve been poisoned. I opened the smelly bag that wheelers provided and the smell of soggy cardboard hit me. Disgusting on its own part. I put my food out and started to eat. The chips tasted like the smelly cardboard smelling bag it came in and the chips were dryer than the cardboard smelling bag it came in. Finally I hoped the chicken would be better but I was met with literal food poisoning. The chicken inside was green and was pink which indicates raw, and tasted like rubber. Will never be back absolutely disgusting not to mention the watery flavourless gravy, I would have rather put my own excrement on top than that utter filth!

The worst pizza I've ever eaten. Halfway through I couldn't eat any more as I wasn't feeling well. My friend also had a pizza, which was very greasy, so that it almost dripped. The free tables were full of leftovers and rubbish from previous customers. These were only cleaned very irregularly or only partially cleared away while we were there. I don't even want to start talking about the toilets.

Was excited that there is a new gluten free menu as a lot of places in Derry don’t offer GF, the description claims that it is cooked and prepped completely separately which is important especially as I’m a coeliac. I ordered the GF battered sausages & chips and it arrived in a marked separate bag from the other food we ordered. Afterwards I had a flare up with illness & pain and it can only be linked to this food. I don’t trust that the cross contamination is taken seriously here and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone with any sort of intolerance or allergy.

Ordered and once accepted it was delayed by 20 mins to 5:22pm (busy fair enough not an issue) I arrived at shortly before and the lady read me out the order which was great, when I got home (5 min drive) there was food missing, it was cold and I had to go back for the missing food So not only was the food freezing but the time I actually got to have it the fish was not nice, the chips were not nice and genuinely would be surprised if I go back

Food was horrible and arrived late. Last couple of meals from here have been so disappointing as they used to be so tasty. I will not be ordering from here again.

Editing this review from 4 stars to 2. Last few takeaways from here have been really going downhill, all while their prices are up. Food arrived 40 mins late tonight and was cold. Had to make something for the kids to eat. Kind of defeats the purpose of a take away.

Very very disappointed with the service and more so the food for the price, I feel strongly that the standard has slipped badly, I will not be back again, service was also very slow; while staff was making out they were busy, more busy carrying on with each other. This is supposed to be a quarter pound cheese burger? At a cost of over £6?

Order takeaway at 5:50pm so post to be hear by 6:30 pm arrived at 7:20. Chips wher raw hard and ice COLD. BIN... burgers wer so over cooked it was like swalling stones BIN... curry sauce was that lumpey made us gag looking at it.. It was over £30. I hope wheelers see this tex an respond to it this is the worst takeaway I've ever had in Derry should of threw £30 in the fire.. Wheelers what have u got to say

Staff are friendly and welcoming.Perfect place to eat for a family,child friendly and has a play area. Food never disappoints,alot of variety from savoury to delicious sweet treats 😋

Was like a wind tunnel with 2 sets of doors opening at one time and wasn't much heating on at all

Ordered pizza with extra toppings and didn’t receive the toppings and wasn’t allowed to return the pizza and get the correct pizza which I ordered.The service was truly appalling.

Wee birthday celebration for my grandson, he loved it,, staff very pleasant.

Average all round burger and bap was burned my partner got fish wich was also overdone asked for a chocolate shake gave me a strawberry not great

I really wanted to like this as a first time wheeler customer but.....Oh my god it was so disgusting it all went in the bin. (Id eat anything)Never again. The only thing that would have been nice was the can of diet coke that I didn't get.

My wife and I along with our son nipped across from the Waterside this evening to dine at Wheelers, the restaurant was very clean and there was of street parking, the ladies that served us both displayed a warm and friendly attitude, the service was fast and the food hot and tasty, we would like to thank the brillant staff and chefs for giving us an excellent evening dining experience, keep up the great work guys, first class!

Over priced and mediocre kebab shop type food ! Five star reviews are either from friends and families or paid for.

Bit hit & miss. Been on a few different occasions (sitting in & takeaway) & the food is either very nice or not, would be very reluctant to go back again (tho the wife likes their food) as i think there is better places around the town to go but thats just my opinion.

Ordered take out. Chips were raw and smelled like fish. The southern fried chicken was hard as a brick. The cheeseburger was really nice but didnt make up for how awful the rest of teh food was.

Went in with my sister in law to feed the kids, absolutely amazing kids meal deal and you can add ice cream for another £1. Kids pizza was a proper freshly made pizza kids loved it. Will definitely be back.

We were so looking forward to a juicy hotdogs, what we got was a dry roll and frankfurter. It wasn't our favorite place

Went in to order food. One of the staff asked another colleague to take an order (heard the staff member call her Megan) to which she rolled her eyes at and proceeded to go to the till eventually to take the other customers order. Megan’s attitude towards the other staff member and customer was appalling and rude including slamming change down on the counter. This is not the first time we have experienced this with that particular staff member. You could sense every customer in there felt uncomfortable with this situation. Overheard other customers talking about how bad her attitude was when they where leaving. Leaves a sour taste as some other staff members are lovely and attentive.

Wheelers is some spot.best place in town for family friendly dining.kids pizzas are huge.food is tidy.theres a wee Scottish woman who is very friendly and good at getting you seated and ready to order.ice cream section is class.handy tip.drive straight to sainsburys car park and cross over road.

Wouldnt waste your time or money food diddnt even turn up after after 2hours wait and ringing 13times they tell me the driver delivery our food.. not to mention first time we order half the order was missing

Order was wrong, The food I got was literally inedible, It must be cooked in the morning and left all day. They have stopped doing a scoop of chips for some reason. The place is really going downhill

Best fastfood takeaway in town, pizzas are quality, fish and chips always a good shout and the selection of ice cream and milkshakes are deadly. Ps fried chicken is superior to KFC across the road

Worst fish I’ve had in long time curry rotten

Ordered takeaway for delivery. I cannot fault this it was stated food could take up to 1½ hours for delivery food arrived within ½ hour food was hot and lovely will definitely be ordering again Can I just add to this I ordered this afternoon and made a mistake, I wanted delivery and accidentally hit I'd collect. Made a call to restaurant and they amended my order and it was delivered within 15 minutes now thats what I call good service definitely highly recommended 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The friendliest staff and the nicest food. Free refills of the drinks and slushie. Ice cream with an array of choices for the toppings. new addition now of scooped Ice-cream also. Will defs be back again.

The food is good and reasonably priced - my recommendations would be fish, burgers and pizzas. The chips are lovely also and the milkshakes exceptional

Ordered take away in August 2021 from Wheelers. Collected my order and when I got home discovered the order to be wrong. Called Wheelers. Apology given. Decided to try again in January 2022. Finally got an answer after 8 attempts. Ordered 4 meals. Collected my order and once again, on arriving home, found my order to be wrong. I asked specifically for onions and sauce on a chicken fillet burger. Not a big ask. I got lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. I rang but could not get through for 2 hours. Again, another apology given when I eventually did get a reply. We try to support our local businesses instead of the larger chains, but with a poor and shabby service of this kind it is becoming difficult to maintain loyalty. Very disappointed on both occasions. Will go elsewhere in future.

First thing about this place. Very busy. The menu had a wide choice of food. The staff were unfriendly and rude. They would need to learn how to be nicer to the public as the public pays their wages.

Sunday morning breakfast at Wheelers what a treat. The menu was extensive everything you could think of for breakfast was on the menu, including waffles, pancakes, sodas, and lots if variations of the full fry up. It was very busy and caters fir the younger family members too. The staff were very efficient especially the young lady you took the orders. You are seated an served at the table no need to queue. Would highly recommend and will most definitely be back. Prices are extremely good value. Well impressed.

Probably one of the worst meal deals I've ever had £22 wasted! Completely tasteless cheese burger & the chips well just the cheapest spud on the planet. Wheelers was one of the best fast food places in Derry about five years ago ''What the hell has happened to this place? Staff was pleasant but I had to tell them how disappointed I was with the food. Won't ever be back. Out of all the towns & cities I've been over the years I'd say Derry is without doubt one of the best for great food & service plus value for money but Wheelers is the worst in town.

My meal after complaining was a smaller size burger than the other, the chips I received were burnt and had a cold and reheated taste. When clearing the table I mentioned the chips were burnt and he stated to me that I was a "f<<<ing wierdo" Do not waste your money or time

There is a clear sign outside to say breakfast served from 7.30am sat there this morning until 7.50 and still shutters were down and a delivery going in.. another car sitting waiting at same time as us also… if you can’t honour your time of opening, maybe change it

Brillant food, the best chips I had for a long time, ideal for families , the best ice cream too

Went here for breakfast as a group, service was atrocious. Missing items, drinks served 20mins after the food, when speaking to the wait staff they would be walking away before finishing the interaction which meant we would be talking to their backs as they walked away. Lack of manners can be rectified by good management. Food was okay in the context of the prices but if you are to have table service then there is a minimum standard of manners expected irrelevant to the price point of the food.

Visiting family in Derry for the first time in a few years and wanted Wheelers as it’s a family tradition. Saw some reviews about it changing management and was a bit unsure but it was as good as always! Pizza dough was sooo good, chips were well cooked and tasty and fish was very nicely cooked too. Also milkshakes were so thick and tasty! Girls on the phone and at the counter were so friendly and polite, we called the order in ahead and food was ready bang on time. Will definitely be eating from Wheelers again next time we’re visiting!

Horrible overcooked food - couldn’t eat it. And the pictures below was the replacement! Couldn’t eat it either. Seen at least four other customers complaining. Feel sorry for the poor waitresses having to deal with the consequences of the substandard food. Avoid at all costs - don’t waste your money! This business won’t last long at this rate given the competition of other food outlets in the surrounding area

Went in for our dinner tonight (first time since it's been done up and re-opened) and I have to say the food was absolutely delicious and great value for money. Their new ice cream place is brilliant too. All really reasonably priced as well. Defs worth a visit, can't wait to try the breakfasts too 😊
