Wheatsheaf in East Riding of Yorkshire

Visited for a birthday celebration. Service was excellent and the food had improved tremendously since the last time I visited with my friends about 4 weeks ago. I have used other pub/restaurants during this time but will make the Wheatsheaf a regular again. Well done to the staff!

Unbelievably poor and disappointing yet again. The young girl who greeted us upon arrival started to reel off the food that was not available to order from behind a pillar so we could not hear her very well. Luckily this was before we sat down. We decided to leave in disgust as the food that wasn’t available was totally unacceptable for a bank holiday weekend. We should have been told this before the booking. This is the second time we have been very disappointed within the last year. This has certainly put us off from ever returning again. To say this is a disappointment is an understatement.

Unfortunately the title best pub pie did not live up to expectations I ordered the steak and merlot pie and my friend ordered the chicken ham and leak. To say they both were rock hard is an understatement. Very dissapointed I actually sent half of it across the table when I tried to cut into it. We asked for more gravy to try and salvage the pie but by the time it came the rest of good, was cold so we didn't bother. We were told we didn't have to pay for the main meal which although was, a nice gesture I would have prefared to have enjoyed the meal. Never mind we thought we might enjoy a dessert. Again unfortunately no one came over to offer a dessert menu or ask if we would like any more drinks. I could have understood it if they were busy but there were only another couple of tables been served. We decided after waiting forty minutes to give it a miss pay for our drinks and leave. Oberall a very underwhelming evening. Will not be rushing back

Service was very slow. Orders were forgotten. Food was at best edible. In some cases not. Not value for money. Overpriced and a very disappointing experience. The toilets are in a. Dry poor condition.

Very disappointed. Table was unavailable as last customers still there however we only had our table for 2 hours however very empty for Mother’s Day. Given a table in the bar with 3 odd size tables put together. Spoon, bottle cap and tissue on the floor. As we walked to the table an employee was asked to wipe the table who said “ I’m going home”. The table was never wiped. The table was not laid with cutlery etc. When served for drinks were wrong, main course lacked options no beef , no lamb etc so it was pork or turkey., which was informed on seating however when the order was placed then told no sea bass so yet another delay whilst 2 members of the party chose an alternative. When the mains came still no cutlery I was served first and expected someone to offer condiment etc but no. The party had to get them. My meal was now on the cool side. One member of the party requested garden peas and mushy peas came ,Meals served by a youth chewing gum. 10 minutes later they were replaced just about at the end of him meal. When finished we sat and looked at our dirty plates for 45 minutes with no one asking us “are your meals okay etc” . After 45 minutes waiting for the the offer of deserts and coffees we chose to leave. Maybe the landlord didn’t want 9x £8 for puddings plus coffees. We left a very empty pub with a very empty car park and drove past the Beech tree pub less that a mile away with a full car park and 2 of our party called off there for a desert. Last time we visit.

My husband and I went for dinner for our anniversary. The food was lovely and we received great service from Evie in spite of how busy she was serving both in the restaurant and at the outside tables too.

Dined here on Friday 21st June with my family & friends for my Wife’s birthday. Food & drink was delicious and the staff were extremely kind and welcoming and really looked after us. Highly recommended.

Booked a table for two Friday night very noisy but the table we were given was next to the tills so people passing by all the time both sides no more tables we ordered drinks but when it came to order food told ther was 30 to 45 min wait so decided to leave and paid for drinks which are vastly overpriced and suspect we were overcharged but did not realise till we left .

We had a very pleasant lunch yesterday when me and my wife decided to visit. As we were first timers to this pub we asked if we sat where we wanted or if they sat us down. A friendly gent told us to sit over in the other side. I presume this is because we had my guide dog Izzy with us. It turns out he sat us in the dog section and with hindsight had i known I would have asked to sit else where which I'm assuming would have been allowed? The only reason for this is Izzy is very fussy around other dogs and won't settle as she is meant to do. The food I wanted to order something fairly "healthy" and this was aided with calorie information on the website and menu. I decided to choose the scampi with a side salad and the side salad was huge! I certainly wasn't complaining. The meal was delicious and the coke tasted good! My wife also enjoyed her steak pie and chips. The service Fast and friendly and we were advised of a 30 minute wait on food, It wasnt more then 20 minutes which was good. Free parking which was plentiful if people park correctly. Prices. More expensive then your typical pub grub type of place but the food you are served in my opinion represents value for money. We would definitely visit again Thank you for a pleasant lunch

I’ve taken my elderly parents here twice in the last few weeks for Sunday lunch. Once in the restaurant and once in the bar with dog. Sunday lunch is good, tasty and large portions. The young girls who serve are very friendly. It’s great that it’s dog friendly

Fabulous lunch great service . I had the gammon and my friend burger both very happy with our meals. Very good service with a great atmosphere

We love this pub for lunch and dinner. Excellent food. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. A traditional village pub with a luxurious feel. The food is delicious and its even nicer in the summer when you can sit in the beer garden.

Nice place but you pay for it! Cruzcampo larger £6.20, Neckoil IPA £6.50 Staff pleasant and efficient. Food was OK for price

Food was amazing staff were super helpful. Super cozy environment for a lovely weekday lunch. Amy and sue were warm and welcoming and made me and my mother feel right at home from start to finish Can’t recommend enough

Absolutely beautiful pub. The food was perfect! Everything tasted delicious! Wasn’t waiting long for the food at all. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Especially Brooke, she was so helpful and always smiling. Lovely to see! Will absolutely pop again! Also, and absolute bargain with the 30% off as well, which they regularly do! A fantastic pub/ restaurant. We visited for a late lunch/ afternoon Tea to celebrate a birthday, we had a fabulous experience. It was quiet but the waiting staff were absolutely superb attentive ,looking after people in an extremely friendly and approachable . The food was very excellent , very good value and the quality was very outstanding. We had two pies one chicken and one steak which were very good. one had a hunter’s chicken and I had kebabs/ skewers all of which were cooked perfectly .We were all more than happy with the quality and standard of our meals. There was a good range of options for children as well. We’ll definitely be back again, and again.

Great food, amazing service, big portions and gorgeous place! Also very accessible for disabled which is always handy.

Fabulous lunch menu, the food and service were excellent. Definitely a venue we will return to. So glad to be able to order at your table and be served drinks and food. No stupid app or queuing for drinks as many pubs have changed to.

Really very good experience. It was busy but the waiting staff were absolutely superb looking after people and were extremely friendly. The food was very good, very good value and the quality was very good. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly and my wife and daughter had a burger which they were both very happy with. There was a good range of options for children as well. We’ll definitely be back

Table booked and ready on time, drinks ordered in good time, nice friendly service. Enjoyed my Sunday lunch. Desert nice but needed more custard but I’m sure if I’d ask for some more I’d of got it! Would recommended.

Lovely atmosphere, great menu and catered well for our family member that has several food allergies. Pie was delicious! In fact, it was all nice and huge size portion for deserts. Haven’t been in ages as lived out the area for many years but now we’re home, we’ll be coming back!

Popped in for the light lunch menu and sat in the cozy bar with the doggo. Perfect portions; delicious crumble served with delicious custard! The staff were lovely - we were greeted with smiles upon entering and nothing too much trouble. Have booked in for a Sunday lunch!

We came for Christmas dinner, and all I can say is that it was the best Christmas dinner I’ve had cooked for me. The food, the staff and ambience of the pub was magical. Everyone made our Christmas Day so special, thank you to all the team for everything!

Great food. Great ambiance, Poor service. Not suitable for a business lunch. Expect to wait an hour for your food. It’s the 3rd time I have been on a lunch and always the same. The staff are friendly enough, just takes forever for the food to come out.
