Just had a lovely family fish and chips from here-food was really yummy, service super friendly, funny and kind! This is a gem of a fish and chip shop-definitely give it a try!

Navigated here off A19 14/10/23 because Google listed as open to find closed until Monday. Please update Google when you go off on a jolly! Didn't get to sample lovely food! Update. 10 Feb 24. We came off A19 again and would have taken up your kind offer. However at least Google said you were temporarily closed so we ate from your neighbours! 😁 Update 29th Aug 24. After a lovely day at Saltburn, on the way home as we came off the A19, Google said Westgate was open and indeed it was 😮😄 We had a word with the lovely Graham who had promised us a freebie for the disappointment we had previously and true to his word we weren't disappointed! We enjoy a lovely fish and chip meal, just what we needed after the day at the beach! Thank you very much Graham much appreciated. Rating increased 😄

What a great fish & chips! We are on holiday for the week and so glad we visited Westgate Fish & Chips on 14th August 2024. Wonderfull atmosphere, exceptional service with big smiles! Food was delicious and very good portions. Our 2 kids were very happy with their drinks and wanted to say thank you once again!

They did a delivery for me fish and chips curry sauce chicken nuggets and chips was great lovely presented was warm and not much grease would highly recommend

What a delightful chip shop. The owner, Graham, totally has the gift of the gab. Super friendly. Caters to dietary. I am gluten free. Just visiting the area, but would totally go again! Food was delicious.

driving home stopped by as we were hungry and had a way to go .....excellent little chippie although on the main road it does have parking to the rear .really good fish and chips and plenty of it was a welcome evening tea.It was piping hot as well.

So helpful, so friendly and quality, from a quality team. So many places want a quick profit selling junk food, but this was our first visit and it was a first class experience that the husband and wife are the best team I have ever seen in any gf shop selling quality gf items. I stress QUALITY

On holiday nr Thirsk and called in here for tea. Service was excellent, staff really pleasant and food excellent. (Alfie the springer says thank you for his sausage)!

Gluten free with various options too. Drove past loads of times and never open, so assumed it had shut down, but I had a walk past and saw it opens at 4pm. Asked if it was dairy free too and separate fryer and YES. Got gf fish and chips and 2 spam fritters and all good. Their separate fryer is in the back so I had to wait for it to heat up, but well worth the wait. This will now be a weekly visit as I know it’s safe and good and good choices too

Fantastic find. Staying at Thirsk C&M site, after a few beers in the village ordered fish and chips spontaneously on the way back. Really friendly and welcoming staff, lovely food - not at all greasy. All shouted goodbye as we left. We will definitely return. ...and they do gluten free for those that require it.

Fantastic service and food quality. Very reasonably priced too. The fish and chips were amongst the best I’ve had. The meat pie and battered fish cake were also very nice. The mushy peas were VERY tasty as was the curry sauce. Very friendly staff. I’d definitely return and I’d recommend to anyone. They take card payments and they also deliver.

It’s gluten free amazing and chips! Where else can you find this?! It’s phenomenal, and my partner said the regular fish max chips are also delicious! Great quality, price and the staff are amazing!

We have stayed at campsite in Thirsk many many times. This is best fish and chips we have ever had anywhere. To top it all The owners are so friendly. Our poodle always enjoys the complimentary sausage!!! Very highly recommended

Best Fish and Chips on the planet, driving to Whitby, save the fuel! Fish so big the guy had to fold it in half to fit in the box! Tip, ring your order through in advance and its ready when you get there!

Take out. Got the food home, unfortunately everything had gone soggy in the cardboard boxes. Didn't enjoy. Sorry.

Decided to try here while on holiday in Thirsk instead of going to White horse cafe I was enjoying my fish and chips until I came across a few bones in my cod. Seem to put me right off it afterwards

We've been countless times and had either fish and chips or the parmo. We can't put in to words how lovely this chippy is from the food to the service, top notch every single time. Always service with a smile and the owners always remember a face.

Ive given this chippy 2 stars basically because after a hard day at work i fancied something tasty and filling..on ordering my meal i was told they had no small sausages ready then turned thier nose up when i asked for one to be cooked.. 2 stars is what i find adequate as my steak and kidney pie turned out to be mince beef and onion..i was to far away to return and complain so ive done it here hoping the owner reads this and pays more attention to his customers likes and needs..

arguably the best fish & chips in Thirsk - and there's some seriously stiff competition, especially the White Horse. This place wins out for me on the basis of quality but on top of that the friendliness of the staff and the fact they are up for a giggle. Oh, and it's nearer to me that the other place(s)!!

Went here for the first time on our way home from a day out today and, honestly, the staff were so welcoming. I asked about gluten free and they were really helpful, friendly and efficient. Beautiful fish and chips, great price and fantastic service. Will quite happily make the trip again just for the food. We did beep the horn as we drove away to say thank you.... They looked so confused but waved anyway 😂 thanks guys x
