Long Street Fisheries in Hambleton

All ways a friendly welcome. Found this fish and chip shop one day whilst traveling through Thirsk. Fish and chips so good we occasionally have had a ride out from Filey to Thirsk to have some and will continue to do so.

Lovely food, just like it used to be (and still should be) Ordered a fish butty, decent size, light and crispy batter, not greasy or oily. Reasonably priced (£5.50)

I am of an age when I can remember the taste of fish and chips to die for. Fish and chips from a shop that doesn't provide pizzas kebabs et Al. I have just had the best fish and chips I have tasted in years. Thank you Long Street

We popped in for the first time today instead of the white horse cafe in Thirsk centre which has been our usual go to as we did not know of your existence. The food we were served was of much better quality, and not greasy unlike the white horse fish & chip shop. Chips were perfectly cooked with a nice colouring to them and not anemic looking like other places, battered sausage was piping hot with a lovely crispy coating, and the fish cakes were 10/10 👌🏻 plus the salt and vinegar was out on the counter… as again some places keep it behind the counter and won’t let you put your own on which I hate. If there was one thing I was to nit pick over it would be the amount of chips given in the portion size… another good handful would have been spot on. All in all though I’m still giving a 10/10 and definitely our new chippy when we are in the area. 😋👌🏻😀

Best fish and chips I had in a long while

Went there on Friday on my way to Pickering had fishcake and chips wow really lovely proper old school chip shop also a poor customer dropped his fish and chips outside the shop and the owner gave him a free fish and chips as a replacement definitely will be going back when passing 5 stars all day long thank you

We stopped at this fish and chip shop on our last evening of our holiday, and they were really nice. Much cheaper than fish and chips back home. Well worth a visit, we will keep in mind for next year.

We returned the first sausage in batter given as I'm not even sure that it had been cooked this week, let alone today. The replacement looked better but was still inedible. Gave up and put it into the nearest rubbish bin.

Proper chippy chips served in a 'bag' with scraps and a portion of delightful mushy peas the fish is fresh and the batter to die for, I call religiously every Friday lunchtime now, the best Fish & Chip shop in North Yorkshire in my opinion the owners are very friendly and welcoming... Try it I promise you will not be disappointed

A great pit stop just off the A19. Beautiful delicate and big piece of fish. Crispy delicious batter. Not at all greasy and excellent chips to go with it. Price was good, the shop was immaculately clean, staff/owners were friendly and efficient, plenty of parking out front.

Popped in to long st fish shop after been out all day for tea We had fish pattie and chips and sausage and chips with real scraps on The portions and priceswhere very resonably We all so sat in at no extra cost ,because i think they are a lot nicer eating them straight from the pan I will be calling again

Great fish and chips, cooked properly, crispy and tasty. The curry sauce is good, no nasty dried fruit in it. Opening hours can be a bit random, look for the fish and chip sign being illuminated.

Probably the best Fish & Chips we've had in a long time, we had took a wrong turn on the way too Thirsk but so glad we did as we were getting a little peckish. Excellent Staff, nothing too much trouble, even cooked our order fresh

Just called in for 2 fish and chips with mushy peas. A little over £11, the portions are big, the fish gorgeous and the batter crispy. Just what we were hoping for. Plenty of parking outside and the staff very friendly.

Needing a quick meal before going out stopped here and got fish and chips, nice welcome and good food, and plenty of it.

We arrived when they were closing but they were friendly and cooked us fresh as they had run out!! All I can say is me and my husband thoroughly enjoyed our treat(as we always work good Fridays!!) The fish,chips curry sauce and mushy peas went down a treat. There was no greasiness and the chips weren’t soggy! Well done we definitely will call back in!!! Only recommendation is stay open longer on a good Friday.(you missed out on custom with closing at 2pm)

Was told this was a great chippy. I live in the south now but I know the best chippies are in the north so was looking forward to my grub. Prices are amazing in comparison to the south, I got fish and chips for the price of a fish in the south, but small portions. I was okay with the portion size as I don't like huge but a mans size ...no. I also found the chips a bit greasy and felt like I was eating with lip balm on. Fish was okay after i removed the greasy batter. Not the worst chippy but so far from the best.

Stopped off here on my way back to Scarborough after a days fishing nearby. Had chips peas and a potato scallop and not bad value at £2.50 however was a bit surprised by how small the chip portion was, tiny, small and barely enough to cover the tray bottom. Would of cancelled my order if I wasnt starving hungry and driven to the next chippy on my way home. The actual chips that I did have were excellent, the peas very average as was the potato scallop. Spoilt for choice of good chippys over here at Scarborough so maybe a bit critical but average at best.

Plenty of parking and the food was hot and well cooked. Needed something quick and tasty and this fit the bill nicely.

Always enjoyed the fish and chips from here, never had any issues with them and I advise anyone to check them out. No home deliveries anyway.

Very nice fish and chips and cheaper than most too. Free to use tables and chairs which is useful if you have been visiting Teasdales on the bike.

This is actually the closest chippie to me but not the one i use the most. Fish and chip from here are perfectly fine but i prefer to go to Sowerby for mine
