Good portion size and nice home cooked food is Wens calling card, but what really impressed me was the lovely waiting staff who were so polite and attentive.

Very nice service, the lady who is a waiter I guess. I got a platter of prawn crackers and hot and sour soup. Soup was too sweet - there also should be wood ear mushrooms as well but there was not. Prawn crackers were delicious. All atmosphere is good, very nice staff.

I was recommended the dumplings here by the owner of Ohana. I must say they the best dumplings I’ve ever had.

1st visit …. and there will be many more . Food outstanding , the duck was amazing , great friendly service , lovely chilled atmosphere ..: highly recommended . (The only negative , but that’s just my personal observation , a lick of paint and some nice blinds would be nice BUT the food is definitely the highlight at this little gem of a restaurant …

Great authentic Chinese food in a cosy setting just on the outskirts of town. The menu offers the usual staples but also offers some more traditional dishes. Staff were really friendly and service was good. The food came out piping hot and was delicious. There a couple of nice pubs nearby too so easy to make a night of it without travelling far!

Fantastic family restaurant with a very pleasant vibe, quiet jazz music in the background, staff are nice and polite, and the food is absolutely gorgeous. (Some people complained on google that the "food was bland", I suspect these guys had been socialised on takeaway Chinese full of MSG or Uncle Ben's sweet and sour souce, but those who have been to actually good Chinese restaurants before will definitely appreciate the cooking here!

Legit Chinese food made by a father currently living in Leeds while his daughter attends University. Don't leave here without trying the Crispy Duck!! We've visited multiple times and everything is delicious from Kung pao chicken to spicy beef dumplings but we never skip ordering crispy duck. You won't regret it and the staff is very kind. Small and cozy ambiance.

Great food, lovely atmosphere especially jazz background music and helpful staff! Only downside was we needed to wait a lot longer than we expected to get the first dishes and drinks. Booking the table in advance was a great idea since it was on Friday night - pretty crowded.

Wen's is my go-to for Chinese food in Leeds. Everyone I go with also has the same positive opinion of this restaurant. The food here is exceptional, so much choice on the menu and every option I've tried this far has been packed full of flavour, piping hot and very enjoyable. The service from every single member of staff is consistently top tier. Everyone is super friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cosy and welcoming too. I look forward to my next visit.

5 stars for the pork belly in chilli oil and the okra salad. Delish. The dan dan noodles were average. The xiao long bao wasn’t xiao long bao - not soupy, thicker skin than expected, tasted like normal dumplings.

Delicious fresh dishes- grated chilli potato, braised aubergine and poached fish were favourites. A welcome and unique addition to the Leeds food scene.

Whilst staying at the nearby Hampton hotel, I was looking for a good evening meal in the nearby area. I settled on Wens Restaurant and was not disappointed. I chose the Beef in Chilli Oil and Broccoli with garlic - The Beef is very spicy but that is the way I like it and was complimented by the cool taste of the broccoli. The meal came to £27.70 . Well worth it

Amazing pan fried dumplings, best in Leeds! I've been a few times now. Although the food is great, some things aren't. They got the order wrong causing a massive delay once and eventually I stopped going because the chairs are so incredibly tiny, so it is very uncomfortable to sit for long, even if you are just average height.

The food was fantastic managed to get the last serving of La Ze Gee which was incredible. The staff were awesome friendly and helpful a definite no brainier to go there for the wonderful food. Well done all at Wens

During a trip to Leeds to visit family we decided to visit this restaurant based upon location (near to our hotel) and TA reviews. To be fair, we expected it be better than average but, in all honesty our expectations were exceeded. The decor is more modern and simple with less of the typical Chinese fare that you often see. The food was exquisite. Everything was fresh, tasteful and well presented, amongst the best we’ve ever had. The staff were friendly and polite. We will definitely be back when we next visit Leeds. Check out this delightful Chinese restaurant - I’m certain you won’t be disappointed!

Still probably the best Chinese food I have ever had in the UK. Proper cooking and great veggie/vegan options. Friendly staff. The salt and pepper aubergine starter is sublime!!

Food barely had a pass. Dumplings were good but they served us a rice that had been cooked for at least a day and a half and tasted like genuine plastic. I've never tried such a terrible rice. We were quite disappointed with the food as we found the menu a bit misleading or at least lacking enough explanations of the dishes, as the stir-fried shredded pork in sweet and spicy sauce came with no sauce at all. We thought it was a bit overpriced too

Wens more than deserves its great reputation for excellent chinese food in a casual friendly setting. Don't let the out of aay location put you off.

As a previous review suggested - like going into a busy family front room. Best Chinese food eaten outside of China. We wanted to order everything that was out of our comfort zone - nothing disappointed at all - phenomenal food in a casual environment which belies a well run professional restaurant. We will most certainly be back.

We were lucky to eat here on Saturday early evening as the restaurant was fully booked so would recommend book your table in advance especially on weekends. Food amazing, brilliant service and good atmosphere. Kung Po chicken was spot on and Hot and Sweet Pork delicious. Smashed cucumber with garlic is one of the best we had.

What a joyous suprise, spectacular food and easily some of the best Authentic Chinese food I have eaten, I personally found the Kung Pao a little too fragrantly spiced. But everything else was amazing!!

We went on the mid afternoon and had a range of different dishes to share. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I will definitely go again

Called and emailed to request a reservation 6 weeks in advance (for birthday), told to get in touch when bookings re-open (fair enough). Sent in total 4 emails attempting to book - I didn’t receive a reply after getting in touch once bookings had reopened & had to follow up. Told that restaurant is fully booked on date / time I had requested but that I could come for lunch or dinner before 5. Spoke to member of team who was pretty unhelpful. Such a poor experience

All 4 of our group agreed this was the best Chinese food we'd ever had. Ordered loads and every single dish was great. Staff were very friendly and the interior was lovely. Everything about this place is 10/10.

This is a great spot for authentic, home-cooked Chinese food. Not your usual canteen style restaurant or fayre, the food here suggestions every meal is made to order. Found, friendly team with quite an extensive menu. Allergens are not mentioned or listed (very unusual in this day and age) - this needs to be rectified on the menu, or a separate allergens menu provided. Staff recommendations would also help, based on personal preferences. Will definitely head back when I have more time to sample some more of the delicious looking starters and the duck with pancakes.

Stars of tonight's dinner were salt and pepper squid, lamb with spring onions and green beans with ginger. All perfectly cooked, tasty and tender. The front of house team are warm and welcoming.

We were looking for a place to dine in without fiery spicy challenges or rich, creamy, dairy overload. We found Wen’s, with well done Chinese fare. The roast duck with pancake was superb, worthy of a Peking Duck comparison. Wonton soup was delicious, with water cress leaves providing a tasteful contrast to the clear broth. The lamb with dried chili and coriander was a crowd pleaser, its spiciness not overbearing. It went well with the simple but yummy egg fried rice. We managed to polish off a large plate of fried noodles with shrimps. My choice of malbec wasn’t available, but the Chinese oolong went well with the food. Will be back for sure

Outstanding Chinese food. Authentic and delicious, Wen’s offers dishes you won’t find in your average restaurant. This is my favourite Chinese in the area by a mile, and comes highly recommended.

Food and service was amazing. We had the Pork Belly Slices and Garlic (Spice level was perfect, chicken skewers (traditional tasting), Beef Brisket and Noodle Soup (could have done with a bit more seasoning, but that’s my preference, but overall really good and very tender beef) and the chicken noodle stir fry (very much what you think when ordering Chow Mein). Only negative is that the venue could do with some music to add to atmosphere.

We have been going to Wens since it opened a few years ago. It is now our favourite restaurant in Leeds! Food is always 10/10 and the staff are all lovely. Great for take out or to dine in. Best Chinese food in Leeds if not whole of UK to be honest. Highly recommended the pork belly in brown sauce, any of the dumplings, crispy beef, soft shell crab, salt and pepper wings/squid to name just a few! Staff are so lovely and always so kind to us, can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you Wens! :)

In my opinion this is the best restaurant in Leeds. Everything from the service to the food is 10+. The staff really do care and go over and beyond to ensure you're happy and I always leave looking forward to going again.

Food was average but prices quite expensive. There was a hair in the fried rice we ordered which they replaced. I ordered one Chinese tea and later asked for an extra two cups for others to try, but sneakily and without wanting we were then charged for another two new teas despite not actually getting any additional tea. When confronted about this, the staff were adamant it is charged per cup and not per pot of tea. This was not made clear to us at the beginning. To add insult to injury we were then charged 50p extra for a container to take home leftovers. Avoid.

The best! Fresh, authentic & delicious!

My first experience at Wen’s was very positive. I took my mum for an early Mother’s Day meal and we both loved it. Firstly the young man who served us was so attentive and quick to serve us, there was a very friendly atmosphere to the restaurant. We ordered the chicken mince dumplings, salt and pepper tofu, Chinese leaf with garlic, beef noodles, crispy shredded beef in Cantonese sauce and egg fried rice. Suffice it to say we had enough food to feed an army and so had plenty of leftovers to take home. Everything was piping hot, fresh and tasty. The tofu was slightly saltier than I prefer but it was perfect with the rice. I would say that the beef noodles probably had a bit more beef than necessary but this is just a personal preference. I would just say that if you come here don’t expect things to come out as starters and mains, you’ll have a delivery of dishes as and when they are made which we didn’t mind. All in all we had an excellent experience with really delicious food, I’m already planning on coming back with other friends and family!

I found the young lady particularly attentive, and polite. However, it took a while for the order to be taken. In the meantime, others seemed to be served before us. Lots of choice, ideally I would have liked staff to have made some suggestions. I had pan fried dumplings which were delicious. My husband had the spring rolls which he enjoyed. We both chose Crispy deep-fried meat in a sweet vinegar sauce; chicken and pork with egg fried rice. The sauce tasted good but for me, the batter was too much, rather rich and leaving an after taste of cooking oil left in my mouth. There were so many other dishes that we could have tried. Some looked delicious. My husband enjoyed his beer and it was a delight to have some jasmine tea. I do think that a lick of paint would make the place look brighter. I noticed it seemed to be popular and got busier as time went on. I suggest that if you want to eat here book ahead.

Best Chinese in town! Five star all the way!!

Third time to this fantastic family run restaurant- the food is always tip top - plus different to run of the mill Chinese restaurants. The prices are very good too. £60 starters and mains and bottle of wine.

Made a 18:30 booking on a Saturday evening, arrived to be told can I go to a bar close by whilst a table became free, (the bar in Wens is very small so have no place to be seated really). We stepped out understanding it's a busy Saturday so after 10 minutes we walked back in as we saw a large group leave, we were given a table up a flight of stairs in a corner and that's when I realised how small and run down Wens actually is but still gave it benefit of doubt as I thought the food may be amazing and that's what we went there for......we waited 10 minutes then had to get the waiters attention to be able to order a drink, then we ordered all our food to come out together which it did not, we had to share my wife's food (spicy sliced lamb, which was quite nice tbh) as it was going cold and by the time my food came out we had given up. My food wasn't much to really make me think we'll try it again so unfortunately we will not be returning, it did seem as tho they have their regular customers.

Fabulous place, the food was authentic and delicious. I had the prawn grilled dumplings and the tomato egg noodle soup, both highly recommend!

Had the loveliest Valentines meal here last night. We booked really last minute but they were able to squeeze us in. We’re both vegetarian and the options were incredible- we loved everything we ordered. We really recommend the Kung Po Tofu, garlic broccoli, and vegetarian noodles. Really quick and friendly service, even when we overstayed our welcome. Thanks, we’ll be back!

We ordered a lot of nibbles and two mains and it was amazing, good food and excellent staff. favourite dish was the tempura soft shell crab it was gorgeous. would recommend this place if you’re after some authentic chinese food.

Well, what can I say?! I’ve been coming to Wen’s restaurant since it opened & it just gets better & better & better. The dumplings, the noodles, the kung po, the service, the atmosphere. I absolutely love every aspect of the place. The staff are all warm & friendly. The food is exceptional. The atmosphere is calm & relaxed with lovely plants everywhere. An absolute must when you’re in Leeds

Genuinely the best Chinese food I've ever had. Incredibly delicious, fresh ingredients, and generous portions. Everything is great but special shout out to the xiao long bao, I'd eat those every day if I could

I would love to see the dishes in smaller tapas style sizes, so I can taste more on the menu. The portions are big, but you can spend all your money on a side dish as it is sized as a main, like fried sweet corn. it could be half the price (and not be a whole tin’s worth). I ordered the noodles with it and I was already spending £30. Just needs a major price and portion reshuffle, flavours are good however.

Surely the best Chinese food in Leeds - the only decent place I know of though. The "Pan fried whole sea bass with minced pork in chilli sauce" is insane - I'd love to try out the rest of the menu but cannot bear to miss out on this dish.

I’ve never eaten such beautiful Chinese food. Gutted I’ve never been before. Will never go anywhere else now. Every dish we had was delicious. Recommend the pork in sweet vinegar, the dumplings, and green beans in ginger. We’ll be back soon to try more!

Can I say this is the most excellent 👌👍😋 Family Run Restaurant in Leeds. The food was delicious 😋😋😋. The Chicken and Sweetcorn Soup was the best tasting Soup me and my sister have had. Plenty of fresh Chicken in. The Dumplings and Ribs brilliantly done. And the Tofu with Black Fungus and Vegetables was amazing. That sauce in it was brilliant. Lovely staff. Thank you. I cannot wait to come back here.

The BEST Chinese restaurant. As a northern Chinese, I can say this is the most authentic Chinese food in Leeds. Dumplings remind me of my hometown. Quality food and excellent service, thanks to Wen‘s.

The best Chinese restaurant in Leeds!

Always great food. Always great service.

Been going here since shortly after it opened a few years ago. The service was ok, never slick but the food made up for it so we kept going back. This time was our last. The waiting staff were friendly as ever but the kitchen appeared to forget one of our main meals. There were only three of us this time, so not a large party. We asked a few times and were told it was coming in just a few minutes each time. After 15 mins we asked them to see what the problem was. This time we were told it was a “complicated dish” that took longer. There had been no mention of this on the menu or online or when we placed the order an hour earlier so we weren’t happy and it seems this is a stock response looking at some of the reviews here. Also they’d brought their rice out… By the time my brother got his main his rice was cold and we had both long finished eating. They brought more rice but we asked to speak to the manager as a full half hour between the first two mains and the third one was just not good enough. When the manager finally did come (on the third time of asking and only when we became insistent) he initially told us we hadn’t ordered our mains with our starters (we had) and then that this was perfectly acceptable service, that meals weren’t supposed to come out together and that was how he ran his restaurant. The food was ok, not as good as previously and certainly not good enough to offset the delay and the poor management. He was unprofessional and belligerent so I’m expecting a hostile response here. We think the restaurant should be renamed Wen’s my dinner coming?!!

Wonderful, charming service and delicious food. The minced chicken dumplings were incredible and the pork in sweet vinegar sauce and egg fried rice were delightful. The service was politely and timely and you sensed they really cared. They manage your expectations which I appreciated by...

Fantastic food and service as always. All of the handmade dumplings are tasty and fresh, the mapo tofu and seabass dishes are our go to. The sausage fried rice is delicious. Never had a bad meal here, it’s always exceptional. Best Chinese restaurant in the city.

Just eaten here after reading the great reviews. Very disappointed. Bland food. I ordered chicken and cashew nuts . £17 . I got a plate of carrots , celery , a bit of chicken and sone nuts! Very tasteless . Will not bother driving into Leeds again to pay parking to eat here !
