Best Chinese food in the world! We go here for all our birthday celebrations and they never miss a beat. Top service, attentiveness and atmosphere. It’s our favourite place to go.

Went with family for my birthday January 2025, lovely food but were rushed to order food by staff the moment we sat down, we were all asked 3 times what we wanted for starters and mains in the space of 10 mins, we had not even had our drinks brought to our table at this point, felt as though they want you in out as quickly as possible for them to get ready for the next booking after us, the staff are constantly stood around the moment your plate is cleared so they can quickly bring out the next course of your food, so if your looking for a relaxing food and drink restaurant then this is not the place to go

Really lovely food but felt extremely rushed. Rushed to take order but then starters weren't served together. Staff stood round table whilst we were eating. Table booked for mums birthday and felt we couldn't relax and enjoy then £16.50 was added to the bill for service charge

The food here is delicious and fresh, we shared a whole crispy duck between a few of us and the portions are great too. It’s rare to find great service nowadays, but this was brilliant traditional service and your glass is never empty. We dined in a group of 12 and they coped really well with us on a busy Saturday night.

Es la primera vez. Un restaurante chino tradicional de estilo antiguo que sirve comidas y no solo un buffet. La decoración es agradable y tradicional. Cuando llegamos temprano por la noche hacía bastante frío, así que dejé mi abrigo puesto durante toda la comida. El menú tiene una sección de comidas tailandesas. Los camareros eran buenos. Las comidas se sirvieron bastante rápido, aunque pedimos Dim Sum, así que tuvimos que esperar un poco, ya que estos se cocinan al vapor por encargo. Los 4 de nosotros teníamos una amplia gama de entrantes y principales, incluyendo cangrejo y sopa de maíz dulce y costillas de repuesto. Pato en salsa de ostras, agridulce, marisco mixto y cerdo Char Sui. Tengo que decir que es la mejor comida china que he comido en un buen restaurante. Espero volver pronto.

Primera visita ya que solemos ir al restaurante hermano Sweet Basil en Kirk Hammerton. Aparcamiento de buen tamaño con amplias bahías. Muy cálida bienvenida y eficiente servicio no intrusivo. Bonitas decoraciones y ambiente. La comida llegó rápido y era excelente. Absolutamente no hay quejas y recomendaría ambos restaurantes! Volveremos. ¡Me dijeron que los dos baños también eran buenos!

Staff friendly and attentive. Husband really enjoyed his dinner, but I was less impressed with mine. Peking ribs too tough to eat, and the OK chicken had something round the chicken which I really didn't like. Huge portions of main courses.

Superb food and service. Excellent throughout

Found a hair in my sweet and sour chicken yuk.... shocking. When I mentioned it all they said was I'm sorry we won't charge you for the dish I said too right you won't I can't eat it now!! Won't be going back and I've been plenty of times before this and never had an issue. This has totally put me off

Great service, food was very quickly available. Wide choice of Chinese and Thai dishes, all tasted great. The interior of the restaurant looked fabulous and grand, easy parking on site and access for the disabled.

Se siente especial para entrar (lo siento, no tomé fotos para la revisión). La comida era sabrosa. Teníamos dos menús fijos con una red extra entre tres de nosotros. Fue suficiente para compartir, lo que nos gusta hacer. Los precios eran bastante competitivos. El personal era amable y cortés. Creo que el menú escrito necesita más reflexión para que sea más claro de entender. También sería útil incluir información como si un plato es adecuado para vegetarianos. Esta es nuestra segunda o tercera visita y volveríamos de nuevo, así que espero que eso hable por sí mismo.

When I arrived I first thought ask the fake tree blossom was cheesy but then, once seated, I decided I liked it! It added to the ambience of the restaurant. The welcome and the service throughout was friendly. The staff never stopped smiling! The food was tasty and decent sized portions, although could have been warmer. We felt the restaurant offered good value for money. The toilets look as if they have recently been refurbished! Always a good sign for a well managed business. 😁

Nothing comes close to this place. Simply the best Chinese restaurant in Leeds. The food is always top quality and the staff are so friendly and warm. The only downside is as it gets very busy and parking can be limited.

Food and service was great. I haven't gave 5 stars simply because prices are too high. One soup, 2 mixed starters and 2 mains, coke and orange juice and it was nearly £90 😳

Went here for my birthday and while the staff are friendly and the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated the food was not as good as I hoped. The food had good flavour but everyone in the party agreed the meat had a bit of a slimy texture like too much bicarb or starch has been used in the velveting process. I would still give it another try maybe better next time.

The restaurant was really busy and the staff were welcoming and worked hard to present the food in a friendly way and in good time. I had the prawn toast..wow..the best I've ever eaten. The mains of both Chinese and Thai dishes were beautifully cooked. We'll definitely go back soon and highly recommend this restaurant 👌

Spectacular food, great menu and friendly service. Only thing I would suggest to improve upon is we felt under pressure to place our food order and rushed overall (not in an unpleasant way, but enough to mention it). Also, the default hefty service charge that isn’t mentioned isn’t ideal. However, the food is fantastic, never been disappointed. Incredibly fast service and the team there are very attentive. On the pricey side, but it’s certainly worth it for the decor, atmosphere, service and certainly the quality of food. Will hopefully be returning here many times in the future.

This place is 10/10 portion size is Big, most of the couples we went with took home what they couldn't eat luckily we have been before and knew 😂 nothing is too much trouble for the staff brilliant.

Didn't know what to expect because of mixed reviews. However I found the food very good. We all had different things and none of us was disappointed. Will definitely go again

We brought our 11 year old granddaughter here to celebrate the end of her SATS. We were greeted warmly and asked if the table was OK for us. It was. The waiter came and asked us about drinks, but we hadn't decided, so he brought us a jug of water for the table. It took us quite a while to decide what we wanted, and at no time did we feel rushed. The whole evening was very pleasant and we left two and a half hours later, having eaten well. Good food, good service, would recommend

If you are hoping for a lovely relaxing evening out think again. You will be back home in an hour! We were rushed to our table and asked if we wanted to order straight away 😩 we ordered drinks and asked them to give us 10 minutes to look at the menu. They were back in 5, poised with notebook and pen. Starter came. All very nice but plates whipped away straight away and main course brought. The food was lovely but we were left with dirty plates for ages afterwards. We asked for 2 teas, 2 coffees, a brandy and a whiskey. We got 1 tea, 2 coffees no brandy or whiskey, then a whiskey and a baileys. Still no 2nd pot of tea. Finally the tea came and the bill. They had charged us for more drinks than we had ordered 😩 Brother in law then asked them to take off the £12 service charge because the service had not been satisfactory. Such a disappointment, and not enough time to talk about the things we wanted to 😰 They just need to calm down and let people relax and enjoy their evening

We have visited previously and the food was delicious, so we recommended here to our friends. Unfortunately the Duck & pancakes were so dry and shredded very small it wasn’t a pleasure to eat, there wasn’t any slices of Duck. The other dishes special rice and sea food chow Mein were a little bland. It’s such a shame we were so looking forward to the meal.

Such a good Chinese. Great flavours, not too greasy or salty just right. Nicely cooked food. Service is great. Staff are so friendly and the speed at which food is prepared and served is great. Slightly on the expensive side but worth the money.

Great night for my dad’s 90th. We were looked after the whole evening from start to finish. Highly recommended, food and service outstanding. I gave it a four for atmosphere, not Sweet Basil Valley fault. Irresponsible parents with feral kids running around.

Food is very sweet and bland. Was disappointing. The roast duck was very dry. They didn’t even have soy sauce on the table and the Thai dishes that we were told were genuine were not. Also, they add an optional 10% service charge in a rather sneaky way so you may not notice add and extra tip on top. Overall disappointing.

Food wasn't good at all. Special fried rice smelt bad ( my guess is it wasn't made fresh and as a result of warming it up smell of egg was overwhelming) chow main dish was not much better, Some of the veg in the chow main was cold as if they just came out of the fridge cold and overall experience was very poor. Service wasn't good and we had to ask to order more drinks on a few occasions. spend £210 for 2 kids and 3 adults and I was not impressed with anything from this restaurant. It's safe to say this was our first and last visit there.

First time trying here and I would go again. The service here like mentioned on other reviews is second to none. The food is also great, every course/dish is unbelievably piping hot so you know it's all very fresh. All members of staff take a lot of pride in their work here which is very refreshing to see these days. The only negative is that prices are rather high which would be okay if food was reflective of this however the rice in both rice dishes we had was a bit too stodgy as if it had a bit too much starch remaining. I have been to other places that suit this price range and unfortunately sweet basil valley fall just short of this. However it's not to say it's a good place to visit as it definitely is. I will be returning.

Lovely food. Quick service Chicken curry is the best, so fresh and chicken is so soft. Lovely staff. Prices are a bit above average but it’s well worth the money. The blossom trees really set the scene at this restaurant, there’s a special atmosphere here.

Went for Mother’s Day, service and food was impeccable even though they were extremely busy. Deco is gorgeous! We had their special strawberry cheesecake and Nutella raspberry macaron was divine. Keep up with the fantastic work.

Wanted to come here for years and so disappointed that I waited so long, absolutely gorgeous. We had the set meal and the amount of food was unbelievable, the soup alone was a meal in itself. The prawn toast on the starters was the thickest I have ever had. Overall AMAZING will definitely be back.

Visited with family for special birthday meal. We had notified in advance that it was my daughter's special birthday and when we arrived the waiter was aware and mentioned it to us. We were shown to our table and before we had sat down and taken our coats off we were being asked for our drinks order. Very quickly afterwards we were asked for our food order, which made us feel very rushed. We ordered soup, starters, duck, and mains. Usually you would expect the meal to come in courses, but the soup, starters, and duck all came together, which again made us feel rushed. Main courses were served after a short break. The food was very nice and well presented. We seemed to be served by about 5 different people, and whilst friendly enough it was not personable. The disappointing part, none of the servers seemed to remember or know about my daughter's birthday, despite mentioning it at the start. These little extras make a restaurant stand out, and unfortunately this didn't happen. I witnessed others having happy birthday sang in different parts of the restaurant, so clearly this was just poor service. Food prices were on the high side and service needs to improve to make you feel welcome. Would try again as food was good, but a more personable and less rushed restaurant is preferred.

Verry attentive employees with customer in mind and the food says the same, brilliant. Very clean and you get what you pay for so I encourage everyone to visit, even Big John BOSH! would approve Thanks for the hospitality.

This is definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants in Yorkshire and its an absolutely stunning building.

Local and always eat or have our take always. Tonight not sure what happened. The duck was chewy and not very meaty meat. They also over charged us didn’t realise until we left. Disappointing.

Terrible, we went in ordered our drinks and then were told that we would have to order all our food together because they are closing 30 minutes. We said it doesn’t matter we will go somewhere else and on departing were told aggressively that we had to pay for our drinks that we left untouched. We have been before and the food was very good albeit expensive but after this we will never go back

Every year for several years a group of us go to celebrate Chinese New year . we found this place on line & decided to give it a try . I must say Its the BEST we have ever been to ! The food ,the service , the decor is Perfect ! from entering the place we were made welcome & shown to our table . The Menu is both Chinese & Thai and the selection is fabulous . i would say its prices are middle cost not too expensive . I would def tell all my friends to try this place .. Thank you all to make our evening perfect .

Fantastic food, great service and super decor

I'd only visited this restaurant once years ago when it was under a different name/management. I've now been twice in the last 2 months and both times have been fantastic. The food is full of flavour, served hot and portions are huge. The service is good, staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant itself is lovely inside. Wish we'd tried it sooner and would definitely recommend.

. I got the set menu for £35 The chicken & mushroom soup & prawn toast was the best I've ever tasted .I got fillet steak with green pepper and onion again delicious would definitely recommend and definitely go back

Food was tasteless and majority onions/veg, had to ask for it to hot 😂 Portions sizes aren't great,prices are the maximum they could charge in my opinion for the quality of the cooking Rice returned as extremely cold, obviously not made fresh Waited 10mins for new rice, while main courses went cold. Just poor Always tell you closing times when you book, which is early. Get the impression that they want to be somewhere else. Ordered there signature dish, which is never the same. Little bottles of coke are abit pricey. Better Chinese food in the area,even in the westernised takeaways,don't let the blossom trees draw you in😂

We visited on New Years Eve- 4 generations of us! We absolutely loved it, my Grandma is still talking about it today! Food was quick, but quite clearly fresh and the portions are excellent, had we known, we may have shared! The service was also excellent with staff checking in and making sure we had everything and had drinks etc. Will definitely be returning , what a lovely way to spend New Year’s Eve! Came for a Sunday treat/late lunch. Staff were super friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. Definitely the best prawn toast I’ve had for a very long time! Portion sizes were generous and food came out piping hot. Lovely tender chicken and crunchy veg. Will definitely be coming back to sample the roast duck!

Came here for a birthday meal a couple of days ago, food was very fast and tasted beautiful, staff were very welcoming and lovely with smiles on their faces and the atmosphere is perfectly decorated. Improvement: menu was so hard to choose from as there was so much choice, adding photos will help people to choose if they are not sure on the food type for example Thai and Chinese, if there was photos people would be able to see what the food is if its not something they eat often, thank you!

We went for a meal and they rushed us in and out we was in there 40min I asked to have my starter separate from the main and he told me of saying it is rude to make over people wait for their food the food was average not worth £110 the food came all at different times terrible service £10 service charge I would advise not to go

It was my first visit here, and hopefully not my last. Positives....great quality food and generous portions served by friendly helpful staff. Negatives...one staff member told 2 of our party (elderly with small appetites) that the portions were small, so they should order a meal each and not share, so food was wasted. We had items added to our bill that weren't ours, and an automatic service charge was added (£21.00), both of which we had removed. This would have been 5 stars if not for that. Please let customers decide what tip they wish to leave, I find service charges rude when automatically added.

Went for Christmas Eve dinner which was spot on

My partner and I visit Sweet Basil regularly. We never book and they always find a table for us straight away even when it is stacked out. The staff are fantastic, so lovely and friendly. They almost feel like friends at this point because we see them every two weeks because we love the restaurant so much. Nothing is a bother and the serve is brilliant. The food is lovely. We often get multiple starters with a main course and just share everything. The chicken and coriander toast is an absolute must! The prawn wonton soup is my favourite and the Szechuan beef is always a repeat order for us. If you like spice, I recommend their homemade chilli oil! I put it on basically everything. The food arrives in no time at all but it tastes fresh and is piping hot so no complaints with receiving our dinner quickly. We always enjoy our meal and while it may not be the cheapest restaurant in town, we always walk away happy with our dinner for the price we paid. Give it a try! It’s easily the best Chinese restaurant outside of Leeds City Centre.

I used to go here way back when it was China Red. I was hesitant to go again once it changed hands but boy was I surprised. The food is still out of this world, the staff quick to help and the atmosphere fantastic

The staff were 5* but I'm afraid the food was not. We have visited a couple of times before and always said never again. However this is local to us so keep hoping it will improve, it never does. We order a selection of starters and a couple of mains to be served together. We timed them, 7 mins from ordering to being placed jn table. This tells me everything is pre cooked and re heated. The duck was like ground tiny pieces and not shredded, the pork was miniscule and the chicken resebled foam. We felt extremely rushed and from entering the restaurant we were out in approximately 45 mins. Unfortunately we won't be visiting again.

2nd visit to this place and it wasn't a patch on the first visit. For a Friday night it was pretty dead, and i wondered why, because the first time we came it was rammed to the rafters. There seemed to be a change in atmosphere and service. Eg, first time we came, we were greeted by a smiling staff member and given Thai crackers to snack on while we read the menu. This time we didn't get any - we had to eventually ask for them, and they brought a small saucer with 7 prawn crackers on it, between 2 of us. The service was very hit and miss, too many waitresses asking the same questions, have you ordered, would you like your main courses now etc, no cohesion, no organisation. As for the food, it's a mystery. I ordered the set menu for £35, my wife ordered separately from the A La Carte and her 3 dishes came to £29, but they were much bigger portions. For example, my hot and sour soup was in a cereal bowl sized dish, and my wifes Thai soup came in what looked like a fruit bowl, at least double the size of mine. She asked for the Thai appetiser at £9, it was poor. 2 spring rolls, one other thing which i'm not sure what it was, and a Thai fishcake, which for purposes of explanation, was smaller than a McVities Jaffa Cake. Main courses were okay, but nothing to write home about. Place was nearly empty at 9pm on a Friday night. We felt uncomfortable sitting there eating, almost as though we were keeping the lights on, so we asked for them to pack it into takeaway boxes and got out of there. Unlikely we'll go back - and they added on 12.5% service charge, which is ridiculous. There was hardly anyone else in there.

28 of us, booked for 6.30. Starters were out by 6.45. Mains out by 7.40. All food was hot, and tasted great. Portion sizes are also very good.

So disappointing, after hearing this restaurant was very good. The decor was certainly very attractive. However, the food was not. Soup was bland and gloopy, had to ask for salt as no salt or pepper on table, but it didn't improve the tasteless soup. Main was just as disappointing and tasteless, with overcooked rice in sticky lumps. I only ate half. I would not choose to go again.

Got to be up there as one of the best in Leeds. If not the best! Yes it’s a little pricey but you’re paying for the service and the top notch food. Couldn’t fault any dish. Fillet steak in garlic and chilli was unreal.

Reasonably good Chinese restaurant with lots of premade choices for faster turnaround. I've had far better quality and more authentic Chinese food but... it's very popular, really good service and when you know what to order some food dishes are superb!
