Still as good as when I wrote in 2014! Food always great (photos don't do meals justice you need to experience yourself). A few new members of staff after 9 years but all still friendly, welcoming, looking after customers so well & good at their jobs. Good value for money menu. The cafe is always clean. I still have trouble deciding on a pudding as all so lovely & some very unusual ones like the coconut surprise on Wednesday.

Me, my sister and her baby have visited Wendy's a few times over the past month. We've walked past it so many times over the years and after trying so many other coffee shops in Blackheath we decided to give Wendy's a go. I am so glad we did. The food and drinks here are excellent. I never order a cup of tea as it's never as good as at home but I went with it here and it was lovely. We've had brakfasts and lunches here and have loved everything we have tried so far. Yesterday we invited our Dad to meet us there and again great reviews all around. The food is delicious and such good value for money. The staff go above and beyond to help and make you feel welcome from the minute you walk in. I can see why they have so many loyal customers (who by the way are always lovely and friendly too). We will definately keep coming back to Wendy's! Well done ladies!

Top class traditional cafe. Excellent homemade meals and breakfasts a speciality. Clean and tidy. Pleasant welcoming staff.

this sarnie was excellent. all i know is that i have not tasted anything like this for a while. would absolutely return and i came to wendys salt and pepper pot on a whim after id been around the market and done all my shoppping. i was dead on my feet after a long walk all around blackheath but this sausige and egg sandwich and a warm place to sit and friendly staff and a nice atmosphere really made me happy. thank you!

I entered a Competition for 2 people to have 2 Breakfasts to eat in i then found i had Won it was lovely i contacted the Owner and thanked her and we came on Tuesday the 18th of August we were greeted at the door on the day and i said i was the Competition Winner and they said welldone and seated us to a table . Then they asked what we would like to drink and done my Grandaughters milkshake in her cup that she brought. We then gave her our orders My husband had the large Breakfast and i had the Vegetarian Breakfast which was lovely it was 2 Fried Eggs two Hash Browns with Mushrooms and Baked Beans and Toast little one had a medium Breakfast it was really lovely and nice i ordered another cup of tea and 2 cans of pop . The Service was lovely and really nice and friendly i enjoyed my visit and really pleased i had won thank you and the cakes looked lovely will go again everthing was good and the social distancing was good and the new decor is lovely and new .

Hadn,t been here for quite a while but still as good as I remember my grandson and I had the roast lunch which was delicious my grandaughter had toasted sandwich and my daughter had omelet with drinks £20 not bad for four of us it's a lovely homely atmosphere and lovely home cooked food will be back soon.

Here is a clean friendly cafe Superb cooking..not plastic but real home cooking..great staff so friendly clean tasty value for money. People seem to go repeatedly and it’s easy to see why. Pensioners lunch absolutely unbeatable..proper mash..pity to report no downside as I like it so much I would prefer to keep it a secret.

We always pop in here if we visit Blackheath to do some shopping. Breakfasts are always delicious and well cooked, staff very friendly, goid value for money. Recommened.

The atmosphere within the cafe is so homely and friendly , the food prices are reasonable and the hot chocolates served are the best I’ve had , would definitely recommend

Home cooked food, with efficiency and great service. It is a popular venue for regulars and pensioners so pre-booking a table would be beneficial.

We had a lovely breakfast at Wendy on a Saturday morning, we had a small breakfast which wasn't that small just right for me all for £4 and a sausage and bacon sandwich which had so much filling for £2.70 great value. the restaurant is nicely decorated and very clean.. would we return YES......

The breakfast and the quality of food was amazing. At nearly £9 for the extra large one inclusive of hot drinks it was a little pricey. However I would recommend this place due to the quality of food and superb location.

Es un buen café para sentarse y el servicio, la limpieza, los precios están bien.Pero. . .Los ingredientes en el desayuno debería ser mejor. Las salchichas son de baja calidad, quizás se podría hacer una opción "deluxe" desayuno con salchichas, beicon ahumado de mejor calidad, tomates a la plancha, etc. felizmente pagar un extra de £2 o así.Realmente no puedo quejarme de este café y quizá soy un poco quisquilloso, pero me gusta un desayuno para ser al menos igual o mejor de lo que cocinar en casa.

quaint little café lots of sets of salt and pepper pots everywhere hence the café name had a bit of breakfast and a cuppa, food was brill especially the fried bread. Prices reasonable staff very nice, will pop in again when I'm shopping that way.

The breakfast here is wonderful, well priced & great quality! Its located right near the market which is very handy if you are shopping in Blackheath. Highly recommend a full English!

Eat here from time to time as we live local. Really snug cute interior, great breakfasts. The lunch menu looks good too with roasts dinners and stews but have never been for lunch.

Did not expect much but the service and food was excellent. The apple crumble and custard was excellent, a good amount of apple and proper home made crumble topping. Will definitely visit again.

We have eaten here a few times and when it was open for Christmas in the evening a couple of years ago we made a family party booking. We have always been more than pleased with the service and food. Today we chose a roast dinner, pudding and drink, faultless. The breakfast meals are always freshly cooked and the tea tastes like tea! Difficult to understand the one star reviews stating everything was good but give only one star.

Unfortunately my experience does not reflect the other reviews. Perhaps I visited on a bad day but the staff were disinterested and not engaging.Milk was added to my tea - far too much - I had expected it to be bought in a jug (the milk) when I asked to change it for a coffee as it was undrinkable to me - I was charged for the pleasure.My breakfast was okay but just okay.I would not return. There are other cafes in the town I would prefer to use

Wonderful food and friendly and efficient staff.Wendy,the owner is also very friendly...the milky coffee is brilliant and the sandwiches and cakes(all home made) are very tasty..A great place for breakfast ,lunch and A rest from the shopping...

A very nice little cafe right in the middle of Blackheath. Staff are Widukind and the food well prepared to order, tasty, and generous portions.

Food (mostly home made) is always great here, very tasty and good value for money. The staff are always friendly, helpful and patient if I'm ordering a pudding as have trouble getting choice down to one they're all so good!

I had taken my car in to have a tow bar fitted and needed a snack to pass some time. I was recommended to Wendy's by the garage and what a wonderful surprise it was. Te cafe isn't big, probably seats 50 or so but it was bulging at the seams with the most wonderful Black Country people you could wish to meet. The cafe is a meeting place for the great and good of Black Heath and the atmosphere is just wonderful. The gossip, the chat, the food, it was all there, Roy's of Corrie eat our heart out! Ev en the photos on the walls reflect Wendy's family and her friends from the cafe, many of whom she knew by their first name. I sat at a table with Brian who had lost his wife 2 months previously. He had three children and thirteen grandchildren. He'd worked in 'the quarry' driving a 50 ton dump truck all is life and had married his girl who lived just round the corner.NOW FOR THE FOOD: All and sundry around were eating the roast meal of the day, with lots of veg, potatoes and gravy, Brian had brought his own crust to eat wit it. This is £5.50 and if you have a dessert it's £6.00. Foolishly I opted for a sandwich which was immense and when I saw the desserts decided on the Treacle Sponge. OH! it was yummy! I could also have had Plum Cobbler, Very Berry Pie, Orange sponge and several others.I wouldn't bother going on like this but I studied hotel administration at Strathclyde University in the early 1960's, I was caterer and hotelier for 40 years and believe me it takes a good caterer to create such an atmosphere in a restaurant or cafe. It all goes back to Wendy, a lovely lady with a very willing smile and her friendly staff. As I left one of them was in the process of delivering a zimmer from tehe zimmer parking zone to its owner further down the cafe.I don't live close enough to make it a regular stopping place but if ever I'm back in the area I'll insist on going back.

Wendy's Salt and Pepper Pot Cafe in Blackheath - tucked behind the Shoulder of Mutton pub - is one of the more original Cafes that I know. It seems to belong to an earlier time and it something of an authentic Black Country experience. You will hear lots of friendly banter from customers most of whom seem to know each other so Wendy's definitely have a lot of repeat business. I've been several times over the last two years and the service is consistently good. Food is 'home cooked' and nicely presented. They usually have a couple of choices of roasts. On this visit we went veggie and I had a very nice leek, cheese and potato bake while my friend had a huge bowl of butternut squash soup with a hint of chile, one of two soup choices. She said the soup scored 10 out of 10. Prices are reasonable though this is not an affluent area and there are cheaper eating establishments close by but prices are on a par with pub food. Decor is clean tidy and quirky - you may admire the huge collection of salt and pepper pots on display all around the cafe reflecting the name of the cafe. Definitely worth a visit.
