Food was not good and one of the diners found a hair in her rice. Will not be back. There are plenty of better options in Belfast.

Fantastic food. Amazing service. Probably the best meal I have ever had in Belfast or Ireland for that matter. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal in an amazing atmosphere.

Don't be deceived by photos on line or the clean white linen tablecloths - This place has not seen a lick of paint in years - We eventually were seated - The staff were most unfriendly and clearly only interested in placing our order as quickly as possible . The food was very ordinary, the service was most unfriendly, and the decor is ten years out of date . It is rather ironic that this place is called Welcome as it is one of the most unwelcoming restaurants tgat we have ever visited

Bland flavours, waitress couldn't / wouldn't smile. Seemed like she hated her job. Chilli and garlic chicken was almost flavourless.

We chose this restaurant whilst visiting Belfast on holiday based on the high rating of previous customers. Unfortunately the quality of the dishes was not up to the standard we’ve experienced in other Chinese restaurants. The chicken satay starter was served in a sizzling hot metal dish and the sauce and underneath of the chicken was burnt/overcooked with a charred taste when we started eating it, the crispy duck was only partially chopped up with all the bones and fatty bits still mixed with the duck meat (which we had to pick out ourselves) and the main dishes were all quite bland in taste. The dishes are also quite pricey. We would not recommend this restaurant based on the current food quality.

We booked this restaurant for our trip after seeing lots of positive reviews We arrived on time and ended up stood waiting to be seated for quite a while with 2 other parties. The waiting staff seemingly oblivious. We then sat and ordered . We ordered a side of veg spring rolls as my friend is vegetarian. My friend ordered chow mein with tofu. The dishes were underwhelming, salty and greasy . The veg spring rolls served were actually meat, which we discovered when some unknown meat fell out of my friends onto her plate (After she already ate a bite) I told the waitress and she just took it to change, I expected a marked apology for serving meat to a vegetarian. I told her this was not acceptable when she returned and then she apologised. The bill came and I was surprised they still charged us for them (most bland spring rolls I've ever tasted) On the bill my friend had been charged for a meat chow mein and then +£1.50 for the tofu . After pointing this out it was removed . It was a frustrating experience all round .

Beautiful surrounding, wonderful food, great atmosphere, attentive service, what more can I say. We pre-booked and on arrival were shown straight to our seats. Without going into every detail, sufficient to say it was a very enjoyable experience and we will return soon. Attention to detail and beautiful food is what sets this restaurant apart. I cannot recommend it highly enough

The food was amazing and we really enjoyed the experience. The only problem was that we had the deep fried ice cream for dessert and the outside was cold. I’ve had this in other restaurants and the outside has always been hot. Very disappointing!!

Went here 8th Feb 2024 for business dinner with colleagues and work friends. We would do this every year and have done over the last 18 years, I think we have missed going once maybe during the dreaded Covid. It is a yearly event for us, but I really wish it was monthly. This it the best Chinese Restaurant I have ever been in. Not just this year, but every year is a highlight, I so look forward to going. From the food, the decor, the service and staff, I cannot find fault it anywhere. Delicious and delightful starters and mouthwatering and super tasty main courses, the food is to behold. We had mixed starters for the table and duck pancakes, what can I say, so moorish and tasty food, I just wanted more. For the main, I had the pepper fillet of beef, now , this was something else. Nice prime fillet of beef, sliced up in a tasty spicy pepper sauce, service on a sizzling plate. Wow, it was good. Rice, sides, even the French fried onion rings were the nice I ever tasted anywhere. Light crispy batter, just yum!. This is Chinese food at it best!. So good I am arranging to go back in the near future as I cannot wait another year!!! I did notice the set menus are gone and they do not do cocktails but the selection of starters and mains on offer is perfect and a good range of drinks and coffees in place. And the deep fried ice cream must be tried , absolutely delicious. Keep up the good work team , perfection is rare these days!

Highly disappointing!!! Used to be one of our favourites, went perhaps every 6-8 weeks. The last few times we were told only pre-book will be served. So we did pre book As we arrived, our booking couldn't be found. As we sat down and the waitress came, we've order 2 drinks and the mixed starter for two. She asked if we were only looking for starters. No, our main courses are... Also, prawn crackers, please. Drinks came, no prawn crackers. - Did you order them? Yes! A while later, the main courses came. Where is our starter for two? Did you order? Yes! with who? The waitress taking all orders... To be honest, the main courses (duck and beef) were delicious. After the dinner, we went to till / bar to pay and asked about the missing starters. We were told, that we should have checked the order... How? We didn't write it? Also, didn't the waitress ask us if we were only going for starters or two course meal? It's our fault. Asking for a manager, we were told that no manager was available. Food good Service atrocious

We used to go here years ago when they had tablecloths and the food was good. Everything has changed. The decor is shabby - unrepaired dents in the walls, picture hooks with no pictures, for example. The table cloths are gone and the surfaces are now cheap plastic faux marble. All the other surfaces and furnishings are hard so there is a constant clamour making it difficult to hear anyone. The lighting is poorly designed and makes for a cold, dark atmosphere. The toilets were cold and very shabby. There was a draft behind my seat and I had to keep my coat on for the first half hour until the room began to warm up a little. I was brought the wrong main course and when I pointed it out they asked could I not eat it anyway. It was a Szechuan dish that had none of the freshness and tongue numbing power of an authentic dish. Other dishes were pretty bland. Aside from this the service was reasonably good. It was a Friday night and they didn’t seem very busy at all. The management should put some effort into improving the atmosphere in The Welcome and think about what makes a more comfortable and pleasant restaurant experience. It’s unlikely that we will ever go back here.

Avoid had the worst meal ever the chicken curry was like soup the chicken in it was rubbery the salted chilli chicken there was no flavour the fried rice was more like boiled rice with veg in it spring rolls were awful the son got a chicken dish it was disgusting first time there will never be back

Sat in here years ago and the food was lovely! Got a takeaway the other night. Salted chilli chicken with fried rice honey chilli chicken with fried rice and a portion of chips. Came to just over £42 which I already thought was very expensive. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened my honey chilli chicken! Plain chicken which looked like it had never even seen a wok and a tub of sauce…never in my life have I been given honey chilli chicken like that. It cost £14 alone as the side was extra! Never ever again! Partners food was fine, but nothing special.

Decided on a last minute night out for a meal and we decided on this place - The welcome. We called it Saturday afternoon and they were able to accommodate us. We haven’t eaten in her in around 20 years - back then we went to it quite a lot - I even had my stag night in here 27 years ago. So glad we went back, great service from the staff and the food was delicious, really good night all round. Would definitely recommend this and we will definitely be back again anytime we decide to go out for a meal. Thank you.

This is probably one of the worst Chinese restaurants we have ever bought a takeaway from. The food was flavourless and overpriced. In addition, my partner asked if they were able to make chicken balls (which were not on the menu) and he was told by the manager that would not be a problem. Unfortunately, it was. The dough that encased the chicken was soggy and oily....not edible at all. We will definitely not be returning.

After having a takeaway from The Welcome and enjoying it thoroughly, we decided to visit for dinner a week later. It exceeded expectations. Friendly and knowledgeable service, and exceptionally good food. Our only regret was that we had to dash off to the theatre so we couldn’t linger. We visit Belfast regularly and intend to make The Welcome our go-to place when we’re in town.

WE have been going to this restaurant fo rover 30 years and as a result of our experience last night we will not be returning. We always order the same food, chicken satay kebabs and chicken szechuan. The satay portions last night were very small but we ate the starters and passed no comment. However, when the main course arrived the szechuan was a very small portion, more like half a portion. The small amount of chicken in the dish was dry and the entire meal was tasteless, meaning that we couldnt eat it. When Michael the manager asked if everything was ok we replied that it was not and the portion sizes were very small. At this point he replied that the portion sizes were not small!! We explained that we have been coming here for over 30 years, ordering the same thing (which he knows) and that the portions were small, he again stated that the portions were not smaller. I then mentioned that the chichen was dry, his response was 'the next time you are in you should ask for the chicken to be sliced'??? I further explained that the entire meal was tasteless and requested the bill. He returned with it and said he would ONLY be charging us for 1 starter, 1 main and 1 rice. We explained that we would not be paying for the szechuan as we didnt eat it and at this point my husband said the he was not happy with how Michael was dealing with the situation, as we are regular customers who rarely complain. Michael just walked away leaving us speechless!! We were appalled by the lack of customer service and how we were treated. We will not be back and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone.
