Jumon in Belfast

Really tasty food even and drinks. We got the Ramen, the Dandan, a ginger beer and a cucumber ginger beer. The ginger beers were super delicious, the best I've ever had. Then the food was super flavourful and delicious. Will definitely be back to try more from the menu

Amazing to find a vegetarian restaurant with so many delicious options. We ordered a lot of food and it was all worth it. Highly recommend the cauliflower and broccoli dishes, as well as the tacos!! Service was super friendly and chill too.

We had a great experience at Jumon. The cauliflower and broccoli starters were recommended to me and both were delicious. I also had the dandan noodles for main and they so good. I would definitely visit again soon.

Overall a mostly disappointing (and expensive) experience despite good hype. Arrived a few minutes early and got quite briskly told that they were not open but when we returned there were already customers sitting inside that had probably arrived mere minutes earlier. The menu reads excellent but for the “big” and dessert did not quite reach my expectations. The Korean fried broccoli was lovely and kimchi really nice. The curry I had just felt like it was all cooked individually and plated up. An unnecessarily large amount of brown (nice change from usual white) rice and not the flavours I was expecting from what the menu said. For what was on the plate and the price, it was extremely expensive. The dessert was extremely underwhelming. The plating was fine and the chocolate mousse was lovely but the tiniest three pieces of brownie that I felt were like mass produced just felt stingy. From the menu, I would have thought brownie (see all my brownie reviews) would have been a bit more generous for it. Raspberry sorbet could not be switched out to vanilla ice cream as it was all “pre-made” (🚩) and tasted quite artificial to me. Service was OK, as was atmosphere. Table was on the wobbly side and the chopsticks showed obvious signs of wear. Gratuity was automatically added on which I don’t remember seeing advised either on website, upon booking, or on the menu, but happy to be corrected but don’t think it was a tippable experience. So can’t quite recommend and won’t be rushing back sadly, though it is clearly a popular spot!

Absolutely delicious food, huge servings.

Decent Asian fusion food. Let me start with this. My starter was great! The Kkanpoong tofu was delicious and most importantly the tofu tasted fresh. However, I was really disappointed with the Malacca laksa as a Malaysian. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t expecting an authentic laksa because this is an Asian fusion place but the texture and taste of curry weren’t even close! Don’t mean to be harsh but I had to say this. Hope something can be done about it. The staff were lovely. Atmosphere was great.

We didn’t realize that it was a vegetarian restaurant until we saw the menu. It was worth a try though. We appreciated the starters more than the mains. The place was packed when we got there. It’s recommended to make a reservation. You may have to wait for a few minutes before you get seated. The food was good overall but we don’t think vegetarian is for us. Give them a try ✌🏼

It was perfect but it was just a bit spicy

An all round excellent experience. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was great. I had the Jumon Ramen, which was slightly spicy and delicious, the portion was large. I really liked the crispy kale and the egg. The Jumon Dandan was really tasty, also slightly spicy, which we loved (this is a very oily dish). The music was nice, at a good volume. We enjoyed the art and the decor. Highly recommend!

Amazing food, very interesting mixing of flavours - fried broccoli with pickled ginger and kimchee? Really? Well it was marvelous. Place was very busy so there was a delay between courses. Staff were flat but really friendly and helpful.

We came here for lunch yesterday. A few points: Food - we ordered a variety of different “big” plates. Ramen was fine, tasty and brothy. The pad Thai was way too sour and not balanced. I think they forgot to add the sweet soy sauce. It was doused in lime or lemon. Not good. My husband’s bowl was supposed to have jackfruit in it but it was canned lychee. Please don’t advertise jackfruit in the curry if it’s not. We also ordered dumplings but what came was this fried plate of 5 gyozas. Dumplings are steamed or boiled, not pan fried. I am Asian and while I appreciate fusion food, the advertising on the menu needs to be re-evaluated. Prices are extremely high for the quality and value of the “food”. No one came by to ask how the food was or to refill our water. Not a big deal but thought I’d mention. My take from this is that the servers don’t really care (I don’t blame them, it’s hard to justify mediocre food), and the chefs also don’t care. The plating though, was really beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. Kudos to the platers.

I seldom leave bad reviews and I tend to be quite forgiving, understanding that anyone can have a bad experience on a given day. But I feel like this case warrants a bad review. We ordered 4 different dishes: my rice was seriously undercooked, and what was meant to be jackfruit curry had no jackfruit but lychee from the can. Rice was hard and unchewable so I had to swallow it. Two people ordered pad thais: the noodles were overcooked and stuck together; they were very sour, had no soy sauce and no peanuts, having eggplant instead. Because you are paying £19 per dish, you expect good value for money in terms of qualitu. More love and care was needed. Servers' attitudes (two young people in their 20s) were unwelcoming and not very friendly the start, and even though the place was pretty empty, dumplings took 20 mins to arrive for our kid. What I gathered? No real care about making good food, not much care about the customer, food of not very good quality but very high prices. I will never go back.

These are what we've had here. JKF Crispy, great balance of flavour. The tamarind sauce cuts through the richness and sweetness of the dish. The bitter aftertaste wouldn't let you get sick of it. Unexpectedly healthy. Jumon ramen Burnt kale topping which tasted so bitter. It also lacks seasoning and umami. Could have used a bit more broth. The noodles were slightly overdone. Kundan Kurry The vegetables were cooked perfectly; crispy, fresh and flavourful. The sauce was amazing. It tasted quite similar to tikka masala flavour. The poppadoms were fried right. However, it could have used a bit more time to release some oil out. The staff were excellent. Very friendly, accommodating and kind.

Best vegan food. Super presentation. Beautiful place. Service can sometimes be disappointing. Cocktails are delicious. A very unique menu. Personally prefer the small plates to the big plates.

We booked Jumon as a birthday dinner for our close friend. We were excited to try a different restaurant than what we would normally go for and the food was really tasty; however, service was quite disappointing. It took at least 15mins from the time we were sat to get a drinks order and even then as a table of 4 our drinks came out staggered and not all at once? The food came out at a good pace from when we ordered however on inspecting the menu we realised one of our small plates we had ordered had not arrived. Not one front of house staff checked back on us to see if everything was okay with our meal, nor did we get asked if we wanted another drink. It wasn’t until we flagged one member down to query about our missing dish was that issue resolved. Once again, we had to flag down a member of staff to ask for more drinks. Again, food was great but for a birthday meal in particular the staff were not attentive, given that the restaurant wasn’t half full..

Food and drinks great but unfortunately the temperature inside was the same as outside (about 4 degrees). When asked if the heat was on, the waitress said she hadn't felt her toes all day and the radiator beside us (barely lukewarm) was the only heat source in the building. Is anyone else tired of being frozen out of local restaurants? Is it too much to ask for a tiny bit of warmth?

Adore Jumon. I am mostly plant based and this place is quite simply delicious. Have been a few times - each time it is always very busy and in demand. Highly recommend the honey cauliflower. Helpful staff who do try, service can get a little slow/forgetful, which I forgive as it does be busy. Tables can be quite pushed for space between though it strangely works and adds to the feel. Anyone new I've introduced who are avid meat fans are so pleasantly surprised and impressed plants can taste so good.

As a life long vegetarian, I feel I should be giving places like this 5 stars but I can’t. Like the concept but there is a definite lack of quality (and quantity). Our two starters: the humous was very nice but the dumplings felt like they were probably cooked from frozen. The “big” dishes were nothing to write home about: the tacos, although tasty, at £17 for two, if you’d ordered this as a main you’d be going home hungry. Our other main of the curry with noodles, felt very lacking in flavour, had items missing/served with overcooked rice noodles instead of the listed ramen. A definite disparity between cost and what you actually get. 10% service charge is also added to the bill automatically, which seems more and more common in the UK, but to me this has to be reflected in good service. Everyone, waiting and kitchen staff, just looked unhappy and seemed like no one really wanted to be there. For me, Yugo and Ragin’ Ramen are serving better quality food and with better service.

This is one of the best dining experiences I have had in Belfast. I hosted a group of 7 for a birthday party, all were meat eaters and all said Jumon was amazing. Every person in the group said they would eat there again and would recommend it to friends. There has been a lot of effort put into the decor and layout of the restaurant, I live in London and eat out 1-2 times a week and I will definitely be coming back to Jumon when I am back in Belfast.

Been to Jumon a few times now and I think it’s a bit expensive for what it is, especially being a fully vegetarian restaurant. Visited the new one in East Belfast recently and we got all the starters and one main. The starters were amazing, absolutely delicious. The main we got wasn’t great. The flavour of the curry wasn’t right and for £17, very steep in price. If you’re going to go there avoid the mains. Service was great and atmosphere lovely.

Another establishment that we'd wanted to try was closed and we checked out the reviews for here instead. Stroke of luck. Although 2 from 3 weren't vegetarians, all of us were impressed with the food; Jumon Ramon, Pad Thai & Dandan. I had the last one of these and it was superb. Bit jealous as the others were bigger portions to mine. It packed a flavorful punch and I just greedily wanted more! Friendly staff - squeezed us in even though they were fully booked.

I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but absolutely loved this place. If you love tasty food with exceptional flavours, served by a friendly welcoming team, you'll love it too. Hang any prejudices you might have about the vegan label at the door, step inside and enjoy. Highly recommended.

Great to go somewhere with so many vegetarian dishes. Korean fried broccoli and the cauliflower were delicious. The marinated egg (side dish) was so tasty. To me, the spice bag did not taste like a spice bag and was a bit disappointing. Otherwise everything was delicious including the cocktails!

Fabulous! If you're a vegetarian or vegan this is the BEST place to eat in Belfast. If you're neither of the above, prepare to have all your thoughts that veggie/vegan food is bland and boring well and truly shattered. I've eaten here 3 nights on the trot and plan to be back tomorrow (the last day of my visit to Belfast). The food is tremendous, as are the cocktails, and the staff have been so welcoming. I'm looking forward to future visits!

me and my friend wanted to eat, but since we didn't have a reservation they didn't let us in, so i checked online to book and i booked a table for 15min later and they still didn't let us in to eat bc it's "full". horrible management !

Visiting Yumon for the first time. It was recommended to us by a friend and it did not disappoint. We went on a Monday so it was lovely and quiet. Decor and atmosphere was lovely with comfy seating. Staff are really friendly and polite. They kept checking up on us and asking about the food. My husband isn't keen on Asian /Thai food but he loved it! The cocktail was amazing too! Portions are large so go for a few few small plates for tapas style or main for yourself. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Yumon ❤️

Jumon is amazing! My husband and I went our first night of visiting Belfast, and we had absolutely incredible service and somehow, even better food. They also have great cocktails. We loved our ramen so much that we decided to go back the next night so we could enjoy it one last time before our trip in Belfast was over. Great variety of options for both starters and main courses, we would’ve tried the whole menu if we had time. I cannot recommend this place enough! Wonderful food, atmosphere, and service. If you are visiting Belfast this place is a MUST (now open a restaurant in canada pls!)

La comida estaba bien. Grandes porciones con muchos elementos de sabor diferentes, algunos están bien otros no tan agradables. El postre (Luna Oscura) era genial. Reservamos en línea y nos dieron 2 horas, pero nos dijeron que nos quedaban 20 minutos si queríamos postre, así que solo tenemos hora y media. Cuando pagamos la cuenta, el servidor simplemente tomó el dinero y luego no nos reconoció, no ‘adiós’ o ‘gracias’, simplemente se fue, lo que realmente sacudió, especialmente después de dar una buena propina.

Honestly one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The food is superb, staff is very welcoming and friendly. I would recommend sticking with the starters, my least favourite dish was the main. The cigar rolls and miso hummus are perfection. Can’t wait to come back to Belfast just to go to Jumon.

Food was decent & service was stressed & a bit slow to give menus, take orders & get the bill. We did eat in on a busy Saturday night however I'd assume it was normal for them. It's a wee bit expensive but to be expected for a central, veg-friendly hip place. Atmosphere was good.

Absolutely lovely food and great options for vegetarians.

Jumon has been my destination of choice since it first opened. I've spent many anniversaries here and meals with friends. Last night was such a let down, as many restaurant, the price of everything has sky rocketed and I feel I can no longer justify £17 for a main that didn't reflect that price. The margarita was the biggest let down as it tasted like nothing and I immediately regretted ordering it the second I took my first sip. My table tried it and agreed it was diluted by syrups. The Kanden Kurry tasted like a jar of Tesco's premade curry in a jar. The food has always been 11/10 for me in here as the starters were always the highlight of the night but our table agreed that the mains were disappointing for the amount you pay. Service was always phenomenal and the two waitresses were helpful and attentive. As mentioned this is always our go to in the city centre but I may have to choose other places for dining with friends.

The food was very good!, the ramen is quite spicy if you like spicy if not I recommend to pick other options, the starters where really good, as the drinks, the prices were elevated, as food in Belfast I guess!

Almorzamos en este restaurante. Los camareros eran correctos y serviciales. El lugar era agradable con una decoración llamativa. Los platos tenían una buena cantidad. Importante tener en cuenta que todos los platos son vegetarianos. No nos dimos cuenta de antemano que la mayoría de los platos eran picantes, y tal vez ese fue nuestro error, ya que las opciones no picantes estaban prácticamente disponibles, especialmente para nuestros niños. Afortunadamente, nos asesoró una camarera amable, que trató de indicar las mejores opciones para todos nosotros. De todos modos, mis hijos no pudieron terminar sus platos, e hicimos todo lo posible para terminarlos nosotros mismos. Los sabores, a pesar de ser picantes, eran increíbles y suculentos. Los precios son un poco altos, pero vale la pena intentarlo.

Todo en este lugar es delicioso. El Beavertown Lazer Crush y la hermosa comida. Este menú es único y la comida servida me recuerda a mi tiempo en Asia. Una visita obligada para aquellos que aman la comida asiática.

Otra experiencia fantástica en Jumon. Fuimos a comer en familia y no creo que levantara la cabeza de mi tazón hasta que terminó! Fue tan bueno. Tenemos una selección de pequeños para compartir para empezar porque no pudimos decidir cuáles no comer. Aunque creo que el KFB es mi favorito.

Delicious food and friendly staff. There's a pretty good selection of food and the service was pretty quick. Portions seem a bit small but it fills you up. Would recommend getting a small and a large dish.

Good food but terribly slow service. After I finished the appetizer, no one showed up for about 20 minutes to ask if I wanted to order main course or other apps. I had to ask the server from another table if someone can take my order. The restaurant was fairly busy but this sort of service is a no go.

Had the Dan Dan noodles and a cured/marinated egg thing. Absolutely delicious and one of the most satisfying veggie meals I've ever had. Highly recommend.

Really lovely to see many vegan options. They interior and the staff are lovely as well. The taste of the plates was not bad in the beginning, and the portion sizes are good. As you keep eating it feels like many things are mixed together, without really thinking whether they actually work well together, so something about the taste is a bit off. Noodles also are a bit too soft, but that might be personal preference. Their kimchi is really good though.

Prices on the website for "Big" plates is £14 yet in store we were surprised to find them all at £17. This, on top of the fact that portions do not reflect the price in my opinion. The JFK cauliflower was lovely, however it was only about 5/6 small pieces for £9. Despite this, the large plates were still good and were served quickly which was nice. However for 2 people with one big plate and a small plate to share it came to £47 with a 10% service charge which I think is not applicable to a party of 2 people. Overall I think Jumon is a good spot and we got served quickly with good food, but given the cost of living crisis I think restaurants in Belfast should try and make an effort to provide good value to customers, as I will likely not be returning for a while despite how good the food is. This is one of the best spots for vegetarians in Belfast as the entire menu is vegetarian and I think Jumon should really make the most of that given how lacking vegetarian options are in Belfast.

Does this restaurant deserve the hype surrounding it? No! With 8 tables you are waiting ages to be served and servers will not take you to such tables- you will be pointed towards the table. Savoury food was decent enough but brownie on the chocolate mousse was hard as a rocket- having worked in a restaurant before it’s most likely been sitting there for ages Truly a shame because the concept is top notch

Blown away by this place. The staff are so nice and welcoming, and I can't remember the last time I literally wanted everything on the menu like when I saw the menu here. So many interesting dishes, either new twists on old classics or original intriguing creations. The ones we ordered were just as good as they sounded, if not better. Classic stuff like kimchi was perfect, and new things like aubergine and mozzarella spring rolls were delicious. My new favourite veggie restaurant. I just wish I lived closer to it, but we will be back.

Sensational food obviously prepared by people who know their craft well. Great service too. Best to book to avoid disappointment - quite a few late diners were turned away as the kitchen was closed.

Food is lovely. I could eat here every week...it's the waiting staff who are the issue. Yes they look incredibly trendy and alternative but they spend more time looking in the mirror than doing their job. We ordered our food and drinks( not from the girl who was supposed to be looking after us). After that no one came to lift plates/ order more drinks and see if we needed anything because theyre all chatting and its seems like the customers are ruining their time together. We could easily have spent another £50 in the restaurant but we got fed up and paid the bill and left. Food is great but some of the staff are draining and dizzy...get rid of the mirrors they mite do some work but no doubt they'll find a shiny surface somewhere to look at

Wow this place is amazing, great decor, friendly staff, fast service but most of all the food was so good. I had the peanut curry which was very flavoursome with good taste and textures. I’d come back to Belfast just for the peanut curry

Probably thee best restaurant in Belfast for vegetarians. I'm not one myself but my partner is. The food is simply beautiful, well.cooked food. Please do yourself a favour and try the crispy honey cauliflower, it is honestly a taste sensation. Go once and you will want to go again, like we did.

If I could give 3.5 stars I would as the service was excellent. I came as a walk in and they told me I could have a table for an hour. Skeptical that I could eat that quickly, I tentatively agreed having been reassured that would be plenty of time. The food came very quickly (less than 10 mins after ordering), which is fine as I was dining for one but might be a bit fast if you wanted to be social. The JFK was delicious but the spring rolls and dumplings average and my dessert (chocolate mousse) was very disappointing. Just a basic mousse really with a raspberry sorbet. Hence 3 stars. All in all a mixed bag. It does rather feel as though they are trying to get as many people through the door as possible.

A zen and delicious little find. Went in on a Thursday and Saturday evening without a reservation and ordered a few things from the menu (all were very good), staff was very friendly and seats near the window are a wonderful spot for people-watching.

Incredible menu with the most exciting and delicious vegan dishes. We ordered most of the small plates to share between 3, and we were really impressed with all the food that came out, it was all beautifully presented and in generous portions.The cocktails were great too. Nice atmosphere and décor inside the restaurant. A real treat!

My daughter chose the restaurant and I was a little reserved when I saw the limited menu. Shouldn’t have worried , the food was hot and very tasty. Restaurant is small and tables are close together but it didn’t feel claustrophobic. Food came quickly and we weren’t rushed out. The menu is small but you can choose a mixture of main and small dishes. Service is included in bill. There was no reason to refuse to pay it though waiter did very little but I would have like to choose myself what to pay.

Food and services here are exceptional. The chefs cook great dishes that are full of flavour and served at pace. Love it, will come here again and again.

Great food at Jumon Incantation Vegetarian and Vegan restaurant in the city of Belfast. What a find. Atmosphere and service outstanding. If you are in Belfast even as a carnivore check this place out. GadoGado and Cigar Rolls for starters, Hungley Malayoo Peanut Curry and Kundan Kurry for mains followed by a Dark and Hoppy and Fogcutter cocktail.

Food was really tasty but small portions which don’t live up to the price. I had the Sayur Lodeh curry which was really tasty, especially the jack fruit which was filling but my partner eats a lot and although his pad Thai was tasty there just wasn’t enough of it for him. Cool decor and plates!

If you come to Belfast and you don't eat here you're a wee eejit. Reed, Steph, Callum, Connor and especially Sarah are absolute diamonds.
