Farfield Mill looked the ideal stopping place for lunch on the way to our holiday cotttage. The Mill is a lovely building. We sat down in the nearly empty tearoom and immediately had to change tables as the original one was so rocky despite the wadge of paper stuck under the table leg. The food itself was pretty awful. My 'hot' panini was barely warm. And my husband's potato and watercress soup was dreadful. More like green water! I make watercress soup at home and it's not difficult! We won't be returning.

I’ve already raved about the coffee, homemade soup and fluffy cheese scones on my review of the Mill. The quality of the offerings here is excellent and the service pleasant and professional. We will certainly be back.

My sister and her friend were travelling back to Ireland from a holiday in the Dales while my friend and I were on our way back to Scotland after a week in the South Lakes. Farfield Mill was suggested as somewhere to meet and it turned out to be a good choice. We arrived just as they were opening for the day but were made very welcome. Good coffee and scones and from what we glimpsed of the art on display there is plenty of interest elsewhere at the Mill

Stopped here for afternoon tea. Found staff very friendly and efficient. A good venue to visit if viewing exhibits in the mill or just travelling between the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria.

We chose 4 sandwiches, which were customizable to our preferences, including to accommodate dairy free needs. We had the dog with us. We enjoyed sitting in the cool - it was a very hot day - next to the river. Cakes looked amazing and we'd have loved to have eaten one but were full from our sandwich which also came with salad.

We visited as a group of 8 wanting a hot meal (beans / egg on toast) arriving at 11.50 the service was very slow and half the group were refused hot food because "its 2 minutes past 12 now". Very poor service, we shall not return.

Really terrible service and mediocre lunch. The waitress just dumped our tea tray on the table and left us to it. Normal waitresses take the teapots from the tray and take it with them. We won't frequent again.

We came in here after an hour of gawking at the many things available in the upstairs arts and crafts centre. The menu is quite small, which is fine as long as there is something veggie on the menu for me. We ordered the special main of the day, a lemon drizzle cake and a couple of lattes. The special being Cheddar, sun-blushed tomatoes, chutney & rocket toastie. The lemon drizzle was tart and tasty. The toastie was tasty too. Can’t go wrong with cheddar and chutney. Can’t fault the customer service, they were pleasant despite being obviously swept off their feet by how busy the place was.

Dropped in here midway through a walk. Decided we would have some hot drinks, then look round the mill and then come back for lunch before finishing the walk. The drinks were good and it was so lovely to sit outside and watch the river go by. When back for lunch, we both decided to the homemade quiche. I was not impressed with mine as I like my quiche to be really firm and it was floppy but other half ate his with no issues. Again, service was good but not in your face. Will definitely visit again

Went for lunch with my family yesterday. The mill was a fantastic experience and the cafe the icing on the cake. Lovely setting. Delicious homemade food, seating indoors and outdoors too. Excellent service- our waitress Juliette was delightful and could not have been more helpful. Caters for all diets. Being a vegan was no issue. When I next visit this magical part of the country, I will be back. Thank you.

We visited the Cafe last week and enjoyed it very much. The food was very good and nicely presented. Excellent quality de-caff coffee and we were able to take our small dog with us into the cafe which was good. The cakes were homemade and delicious. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We had lunch at the cafe after looking around the gift shops at the Mill. The food was freshly prepared and the cafe uses local produce which is commendable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our lunch in this relaxed, spacious cafe. An ideal 'watering hole' if you have been on one of very beautiful local walks in the stunning Dales.

Fairfield Mill is a lovely place but sadly let down by the cafe - having waited for 15 mins to order a cup of tea (there were only three others in front of me !) I gave up the will to live and left - please improve the speed of service - just a joke

Visited here 4 years ago, lovely lunch from large choice of fresh meals, beautifully cooked and served.Called again today and what a miserable shock it was too. The Tea Room / Weavers Cafe / Riverside Inn (depending which door you look at, it has a choice of three names ?! ) has a pathetic choice of sandwiches with about three fillings or soup.... that was it. Ordered soup with sourdough roll.... "no sourdough, do you want brown or seeded ?" If there is NO sourdough, then RUB IT OFF your blackboard until there is !! Soup came, edible but bland.Lady apparently in charge soent must of her time sitting chatting to people at another table, whilst drinking tea, intermittently having arguments with the kitchen staff. All in all, a shocking experience, a local informed us later that this is not new, the place has been going downhill for a long time and nobody wants to work there. Told later by another local that it is clinging on to survival.Big shame in comparison to previous visit, but faced with a poor excuse of a menu and rude staff.... no surprise at all

This cafe is tucked away down quite a track, although well signposted from the main road. We found a lovely table and a good choice of snacks. My 88 year old brother-in-law loved his tomato and red kidney bean soup, my husband had his usual tea cake, whilst the rest of us had toasted sandwiches. The service was good, but it took a while for all to be served as the food was clearly freshly prepared. Still, it was nice place to sit and chat and the food was really good.

Farfield Mill is a wonderful place to visit. They present arts and crafts by local artists weavers and photographers, many of which are truly exceptional. It is not an easy place to visit without having bought something. The cafe is comfy and the ladies provide two hearty soups which are suitable for vegans. Ours were tomato, pepper and kidney beans and you could practically stand your spoon up in the bowl there was so much goodness there.

Normally the food is excellent but yesterday it was only average. The scampi , chips and peas looked as if it had been warmed up, with a tiny dish of tartare sauce. The toasted teacake came with only 2 butters (I get 4 at Duo). Salads were plentiful and fresh and paninis good. Do wish they would invest in a paper menu. having to stand at the counter and read a menu on a high mounted blackboard is not a good experience, especially for oldies who don't have very good eyesight.
