Excellent, friendly place on St Patrick's Day. Historic building. Staff were great. This is a traditional pub with great selection of beers, including local craft ales. It's not a wine bar, and it's not a chain pub.

Quaint old fashioned pub with a querky layout. The staff seamed friendly but the prices seemed high, but I guess that's the way things are going in this economic crisis. I believe they now do food, which I confess I've not tried, but two gents who were there at the time were complimenting the staff after their food. Also of interest there is now some outside seating at what I understand is one of the only public houses on consecrated church land.

Very friendly and welcoming pub, lovely staff and great regulars, will be returning! This pub has a great selection of keg and cask across two bars, lots of spirits and wines, and even good soft options (cokes, coffees, j20) etc. Food is lovely and the atmosphere is always great

Just awful, ladies toilets were disgusting, no toilet paper. Asked at the bar for some, apparently none available. Could do with a good clean. Also lacking in Vodka…. Joke of a pub. One to miss.

The bar isnt the biggest but it was very homely and we were made to feel welcome by the barman and the locals who were very chatty and friendly,Only spoilt by a few noisey gobby entitled sorts causing bother in the lounge who were chucked out, unfortunately we ended up being confronted by them as well when we left, very tempted start lamping a few 👊

Spent a while trawling through reviews for somewhere in town for a good Sunday lunch and as usual it wasn't an easy task, thankfully we picked Ring O Bells. The pub has a number of small rooms and we sat in the middle where the open fire is located, bit old fashioned, but warm, clean and comfortable. Very good and friendly service from the staff and they have a good selection of good priced ales and other usual suspects. We both chose the three course Sunday lunch, for the same price most establishments in town are charging for one main course, sometimes more. The food and service was excellent. I wish we lived closer and we could visit more often.

The landlord comes in for some stick in these reviews but we found him friendly, helpful and apologetic. The rest of the evening was a disaster. We waited over 30 minutes for awful food and had to spend that time listening to three screaming kids, who were all far too young to be in a pub. We couldn't wait to leave.

The pub had a real local feel - the sort of place you know the locals frequent for their Sunday roast. It was cozy, with a number of small rooms all leading into one another. The locals were welcoming and chatty, and the food was delicious. Make sure to check out the carved names on the window panes before you leave - the landlord will gladly tell the story.

We had a lovely home cooked family meal at the pub, in fact the best we had on our weeks holiday in Scotland (we stopped at Kendal on our way up) would 100% go there again if we were in the area (wish we lived a bit closer!) Would highly recommend it to anyone who loves good food.

We’ve being exploring the lakes camping for the last 5 days trying all different pubs and cafes but this one topped them all … as a cafe owner my self there’s a way of talking to customers and the manager or owner or whatever he was was so beyond rude we left ! As a group of 5 we was ready for a brilliant meal walked in asked politely for menus when the man behind the bar called over in front of other customers “ do you have any weed on your because you smell of it so you’ll have to go outside .” I have never being so humiliated in my life a group of hardworking people being loudly embarrassed in front of other people ! None of us have touched cannabis and to be accused was disgraceful. We left immediately so heads up don’t waste your money here in the drab grotty pub get your self to the Shakespeare the food is 5* and the service 5* !

I went with my family for a drink; the owner/landlord on arrival made fun at my partners 16 year old neurodivergent son who was wearing make-up (he is a goth) What an offensive bigot. Might I suggest you think before you open your mouth and upset an innocent child.

What a great little pub. Came down from Glasgow as a family & stayed overnight in Kendal before heading to Lakeland. The pub is located a 5min walk from the travelodge we stayed at. Such a lovely little pub. The staff were fantastic & couldn’t do enough for us. We went for drinks originally but the kids ended up having something to eat. We spent most of the evening here as the weather turned & all the locals were lovely too. Such a dog friendly pub which was great as we had ours with us. Can’t recommend this pub highly enough.

Proper old boozer with an open fire, good atmosphere and always a fantastic selection of real ales on tap. I have eaten here twice recently and I have to say the food way exceeded my expectations. The Sunday roast is excellent as are the homemade pies. If you want somewhere to go with the dog after a good walk then look no further. I'm giving 4 out of 5 because the building is tired but I've always found it clean and feel they have tried to work with what they have which is an extremely old building.

Arriving in Kendal late on a road trip with hungry kids and restless dog, we saw this pub was near where we were staying so phoned ahead given the time, with no idea what it would be like. We received a lovely warm welcome, lovely home made food and suspect the chef stayed open later for us than a usual Thurs evening too. It’s a small, cosy no- frills set-up, with friendly service, dog friendly, reasonable prices and tasty food- we both had the freshly made steak & ale pie & kids had the pulled pork burgers which looked great. Really enjoyed our evening just what we needed, even and recommend.
