Wow. Spent less than 5 minutes here. First impressions count right! Store at front of Restaurant which is like a veg shop / Deli empty of staff....and nearly as empty in stock. Very unwelcoming. Before I could find a member of staff in the restaurant so we could sit for food, I witnessed the owner shouting profanities at someone and was telling them where to go in no uncertain terms. I heard the person even mention they'd never even met her or been there before yet she continued her tirade. I think we had a lucky escape anyway the place looks dated and we found a lovely coffee and food around the corner with very welcoming staff.

Excellent vegetarian lunch. I had the homily pie, accompanied by a good quantity and variety of salads. I have a good appetite and discerning taste and this did not disappoint. I also had a pot of tea and delicious polenta cake to finish, all for little more that £15 (I'd have happily paid more). I wish there were more places for meat free meals of this quality. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

As a non-vegetarian, i.e., dead animal flesh-eating local, I just popped in for a snack on a Saturday in June. (They do a special breakfast menu on Saturdays - "until the food runs out") The quality was excellent, so good that I didn't even hanker for a bacon sandwich afterwards... Highly recommended.

We stopped here just for a cup of coffee but were tempted by the lemon polenta cake which was amazing, the coffee not so much. In response to the reviewer who was unhappy about the lack of meat on the menu, it is clearly signposted as a vegetarian restaurant, just saying.

There always seems to be a nice atmosphere when ever I've eaten here. The choices for me are ample and always fresh. I decided to have a Vegan breakfast as I heard so many good things about it and my collegue had the soup. The salads looked very appertising but we felt we needed something more substancial. We couldn't fault our meals. The service was prompt. No body here was in our faces. Will come again when I'm in Carm next.

We have been here a number of times and enjoyed good healthy food, albeit a very limited range. We arrived on Saturday - we live some miles away but the opening hours show open on Saturdays on various websites but we were firmly told by a lady that she doesn’t take any interest in the internet or published opening hours and she’s the cook and it’s our loss basically … can’t say it’s the friendliest well on we have had in a Carmarthen cafe ! Shame as we used to enjoy a Saturday trip out to Carmarthen and vegetarian lunch was part of the trip - we did find somewhere else and had a great lunch in the end. We will visit again if we have time off work in the week.

I used to eat there every week up (and had done for about 5 years) until the time I found I was eating a little black beetle along with my salad. That I never received a proper apology and their cook would not accept responsibility. I missed going there as I had been a devoted regular but have since found there are places just as good that cater for vegans that do not have stroppy cooks.

Visited here a couple of times since moving to the area and really enjoyed the food. Great selection on offer but you need to get there early for lunch as it seems to get quite busy. The salads that come with the meal are all fresh and delicious. Only criticism is that the staff could be more friendly as they seemed quite stressed.

Very disappointed. We, a group of 6, were immediately greeted upon arrival by a frantic, brusque and, quite frankly, obnoxious member of staff. She stormed through the cafe, stating loudly and rudely "You'll be lucky- no tables." The shop did not appear busy in the least and we easily noticed a large empty table, so headed in to sit down. The woman returned, only to inform us she had "a table of ten 'coming down' and they're late and we're very busy!" Then she proceeded to be rude to my friend who was asking an adjacent table if she could use an empty chair, as our table only had 5 chairs! I asked her if she wanted our custom at all or should we leave, at which point another- rather embarrassed- member of staff came in and said it's fine and made sure we had seats. Only that we were bl**dy hungry and in a rush or we would have left altogether! Food was fine and we didn't wait long (there was plenty of it pre-prepared in the counter, so why the drama I have no idea??!)

We visited Waverley to re-live our student days (28 years ago!). We used to come here if we had enough money to eat lunch out. It is EXACTly the same as it was then - we even had the same food (quiche and salad)!! And to be fair I don't think the decor has changed in all that time either! Saying that it was also as reliable as it was 28 years ago. we had a nice lunch and the staff were friendly. Can't ask for much more then that! I would definitely class is as a cafe rather than a restaurant though.

There is a varied choice, including jacket spuds, veg burgers, flans and stews, cheese and potato pie is delicious. This was our first visit to Carmarthen and it felt like we'd travelled back to the 80s. Less to do with style, more to do with the jaded nature of the town. So stumbling across Waverley was a real treat. Great little shop, vegetarian dishes in the cafe and really nice art on the walls.Staff were sweet, and there was a nice variety of food. Had to try the vegetarian lasagne because that was always the disappointing token dish decades ago and it's always nice to experience a more up to date version. Oops! Not so I'm afraid. It was as if we were literally back in the 80s with an original recipe. Not to my liking but the salads and rice were really good, as was the baked potato. As it turns out, the real Carmarthen is pretty cool and only a few minutes walk from here. Even has an interesting indoor market alongside the big stores. Nice place.

1:30 on a weekday afternoon. A small queue waiting to be served, a spare table to grab, a quiet and relaxing ambience. We were looking forward to our new Carmarthen veggie experience. The queue is where you select your food and pay, a sort of school lunch canteen - type queue. I made my selection and held the table while my wife queued and she was sixth from being served. 10 minutes (!!) later she was there and my choice has run out. I chose again. After the choice of 4 main dishes there was a salad bar, then payment so she spooned on the salad for us both and then we were ready to start. Meanwhile, back at the table, the previous occupants' dishes hadn't been collected. The reason for this was that the dish collector was the boss (I think) and he was sitting around reading the newspapers. We attracted his attention and the dishes were removed. The two meals with coffee cost £15 -cheap. My mean was lukewarm and my wife's was just cold. The choice of side salad was abysmal but the quality was good. Virtually all of the customers were pensioners, like us, and they were obviously enjoying themselves. The reason for the long waiting time was that there was only one girl doing the serving and preparing the bill. We were obviously the only people concerned about this. Conclusion. This was a nice cosy, safe, cheap, quiet, genteel place for pensioners who were not in a hurry. We had a limited amount of time and we thought the food and service were just awful

I've been going to the Waverley at least once a month for over twenty years, the food is excellent, lots of choice, it's freshly cooked and the portions are large BUT the staff could do with some basic training, here goes...they start serving at 12 every day, if you get there at 12.15 there is a queue almost the length of the restaurant, the reason being that there is only ever one person serving, dishing up,making drinks and taking payment , the hot counter is packed with delicious food but in all the years I've been eating here nothing has ever been labeled so you have to look at the menu on the chalk board and guess which item is which, or usually, each customer points at each individual dish with the question 'what's that?' VERY time consuming, all is needed is a stand up label in each dish, basic stuff eh? so if you call in your lunch hour, chances are, by the time you get served you have little time left to sit down and eat. when you do eventually manage to get to the front of the queue my usual request for 'one homity pie please' (I can't tell you just how good it is) is often met with 'sorry it's all gone' it seems that every month for the last twenty years no one in charge has actually twigged on that it might be good to make an extra one and put it out with the other one, or, and here's where it gets a bit obvious...MAKE A BIGGER F*^"**G PIE !! So....fantastic food, good price, ok venue but c'mon guys when are you going to learn, get two people on the counter, serve more people faster and SOMEONE PLEASE suggest that all of the staff smile at the customers even if you all take it in turns once a day, it makes business sense, try it, you might be pleasantly surprised!

The Waverly is a hidden gem of a cafe in Carmarthen, and in my opinion the best place to go for a hearty, nutritious and tasty lunch. Reasonably priced too, what you buy is what they've cooked that day. The choice is all vegetarian, but don't let that put you off, the flavours are fantastic and you leave feeling full, satisfied and slightly smug knowing that you've eaten somewhere good. If you are one for bling then you won't like the decor, its utilitarian but clean. I guess it all ads to the rustic and homely charm of this fantastic cafe.

if you are a vegan, go here, you will love it. So relaxed and old stylee restaurant/cafe. staff are so helpful and will tell you every ingredient in a dish. This place is a secret hidden gem all the locals use. They even do take away!

Cafe at the back of the shop is a bit hidden, but a little gem. Good wholesome vegetarian food and varied choices. The place is busy and staff struggle a little to cope, but that is the only critism. The food is delicious with good portions. I will be going back.

This place is excellent value for money. There's a good choice of meals. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are fair. I feel really full every time I come here. I sometimes come for just a cuppa between breakfast and lunch, and they do a good offer on a cuppa and cake too. Again, the portion size of the cake is generous. Staff are always friendly too.

Called into this restaurant on a Wednesday ( Market Day) when the town was very busy and all eating places were buzzing. We found Waverleys by chance and were very impressed !We are NOT vegetarians but found the choice of menu varied and delicious and it made a nice change from our usual haunts in Carmarthen. We would not hestitate to revisit.

This vegetarian restaurant offers delicious food and an extensive salad selection. It is quite small and ideal for lunch whilst shopping on Carmarthen.

Always a good range of home cooked veggie dishes. Pasta Bake, Veggie Lasagne, Nut Roast always good and served with a wonderful self service salad. The salad is just sensational! Try the delicious Smoothie as well. Laid back feel and the place looks and is a bit hippyish but all the better for that!

Visiting Camarthen for the Easter weekend, we sought a good restaurant for a lovely holiday meal. Trip Advisor had this one in the top 5 for the town, plus it's vegetarian, which is a huge plus for my veggie partner, who is often restricted to quiche, veg curry, or the usual uninspirational fodder. We visited Easter Saturday at the end of lunch.Entry is through a whole food shop, which is fine and dandy and obviously works well. A dozen tables and wooden chairs lead to a hot food section, which included quiche, veg curry, bean burger and a ratatouille of some kind, plus a salad selection - hummus, coleslaw, beet root and carrot, lettucy stuff, rice, peppers etc. it is exactly the kind of fare you would expect to find in a whole food cafe, from 1985 onwards but, for two small plates and two cans of soft drink, I thought that £15 was on the top end of what I would pay without arguing.I had bean burger, which sounded spicy and tasty- it was under flavoured ( and I don't like hot food), and mediocre. My partner had quiche- tasted just like the ones I loved at school. The salads were average and I think it just needed to be a bit... better really.I'm sure the local vegans are grateful for anyone who caters for them, and it's great to have a full on veggie option, but it is not a restaurant. It's a whole food cafe that could be so much more.

I was dragged along to the Waverley as visiting relatives were vegetarians. In the end I didn't really complain as the midweek lunch was quite substantial with the coffee afterwards being top quality. But how I longed for gravy over my lunch.

Excellent vegan/ veggie menu ,great choice and food cooked freshly every day. We've eaten there regularly for many years as a family and now as a couple. Also chef/owner is very knowledgeable re special diets and is able to assist - as I am coeliac and my husband is dairy intolerant - quite difficult to cater for usually , but no problem here.Great vaue too.

We have visited the restaurant on several occasions in the last year. As vegetarians it is great to find a local one stop food store and restaurant which offers wonderful food, of generous portions and good service, we shall certainly be including it as our regular stop in Carmarthen. We have no hesitation in recommending it to our vegetarian/vegan friends as well as the "carnivorous" ones!Thank you for excellent service and wonderful meals

Visited after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. Its a cafeteria type set up BUT the food is fantastic and great value at about £6 per head setup at the rear of the very well stocked health food shop. The staff serve the warm food whilst the excellent salad selection such as cous cous and red cabbage & apple salad is self serve. The pasta bake & lasagne were exceptional. Will definately use again for a healthy lunchtime treat.

We were amazed by the food at The Red Lion. A high-quality menu exemplary for a modern pub. Portions are enormous, food is delicious (I recommend the Greek burger), and above all the staff are outstanding. Vegetarian options are a huge plus. In sum, we found The Red Lion in Llandybie to offer superb value and an authentic Welsh pub atmosphere. We wouldn't think twice about returning - excellent establishment, diolch.

We met the owner during the week and as a result of his recommendation visited their burger van Friday evening to have their homemade fish and chips.. so good. We then visited Sunday to try the Sunday lunch.. spectacular! All homemade to perfection, tasty and generously portioned it was delightful! We absolutely loved every element. The veggie option was a treat and not the run of the mill usual option you get. What a great place will be back every week!
