We last dined here to celebrate my nephew passing his PCV Test and had a fabulous meal, having previously enjoyed meals here as part of a luncheon club. So it was the natural choice for said nephew and I to be accompanied by two dear friends on this occasion. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, every choice you make on the extensive five course table d’hote menu is a winner as was the excellent Pinot Noir to accompany on this occasion. You are in opulent surroundings whether in the Restaurant itself or the elegant Bar and Lounge areas which lend themselves perfectly to relaxing both before and after dinner when we were treated to wonderful entertainment by a Pianist. We all agreed we can’t wait to go here again and would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to do the same. Thank you to all at The Empire for a fabulous evening!

Pretty lucky to get a seating at this quaint British restaurant. Very nice ambience with a fine dining sort of setting. The food is great. Great service. Chef came by to check. Definitely a worthwhile stopover if you’re in this area.

Excellent food and good service

Decided on here to celebrate my nephew passing his PCV test and I could not have chosen better. We arrived early to have a drink in the lounge first, the perfect ambience to sit and relax. The Owner of the hotel, within which the restaurant is, came with menus and was so welcoming and helpful, even congratulating my nephew. Neither of us had a problem choosing from the extensive table d’hote menu which is the closest thing to A La Carte I have ever seen, plenty of choice on every course. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful with carefully chosen and tasteful furnishings to create the perfect atmosphere; we were given one of the lovely booths. The food was exquisite for both of us, not one adverse comment to make about this or the impeccable Service we received. We both said the smoked salmon starter was the best we had ever tasted and that just set the standard for the whole meal. Afterwards we adjourned to the lounge where a Pianist was playing which was also delightful and a rare and refreshing change these days, and although I may well be wrong I suspect this only happens at a weekend, this being a Saturday evening. We both agreed we must return even when we have nothing to celebrate, can’t wait!

Great place for a relaxing evening meal. We had the four course dinner on our last visit. The menu offered a good choice and as usual the service was efficient and professional. It's not cheap, but when taking account of the quality of the food, excellent service and decor, we consider it to be very good value. Lovely well furnished and spotlessly clean bar/lounge area to enjoy a drink too.

Love this restaurant great meal the steak is fab. The staff are lovely as they always are in The Empire Hotel you need to book so as not to be disappointed. Fab price if you don't mind the set menu or a la cart if you can afford to push the boat out.

This is a typical three star hotel restaurant. The have a limited menu which was not inspiring. The main part of the dishes were OK but the chef needs to learn how to make a sauce (a properly reduced sauce is better than a thin liquid)

Went into the Restaurant whilst staying at the Empire- Nice food and on top of that Excellent service. Have a buffet facility now for breakfasts albeit you can still be waiter served

We had a delicious 4 course dinner the standard was impeccable, ditto the service also. We also had a delicious breakfast the following morning.

We dined here on the first evening of our holiday and wish we hadn't tried any of the other restaurants or pubs as none of them matched The Empire. Service as always was exceptional and the food was well-thought out, varied and of a high standard. The Empire should be you first option if looking for somewhere to eat in Llandudno!

We were staying in the hotel on a B&B basis and really enjoyed the breakfasts. Plenty of choice available from porridge and cereals to cooked breakfasts and home made preserves! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Unfortunately my expectation were a little higher after reading the reviews.We choose the 4 course dinner.The fried brie came almost burnt black and the beetroot salad was tasteless, garnished with some sad letters. The tomato soup was ok. The poached salmon was dry, with a little sweet and sour sauce,very week in taste and brown overcooked sweet peas. The lemon meringue roulade missed the meringue. The coffee you are supposed to take in the lounge was cold. The waiters were very attentive and polite, but none of them carried a smile.

Lovely food, efficient service great surroundings!

High class service. All staff help eachother no job too small and a very friendly whilst very professional. Beautiful setting with out of this world food cooked with love and the presentation is 10/10. Had a fantastic night, I will be returning each time I visit Llandudno. Highly recommend also!! You will not be disappointed.

The food is fantastic the staff are numerous and attentive without being invasive. The décor is also pleasant as are the communal areas in the bar etc. Plate presentation was very good. The service staff have a wonderful balance of charm and functionality. Ive only been to this restaurant twice but can not fault either experience and will deffinatly attend again.

Visited here last night with my partner and her Mum. 4 course meal set menu. The staff and food were delicious. The two ladies had Salmon and loved it. I had the steak (supplement on set price) which was beautifully cooked. Definitely going back.

My husband and I had a very tasty meal here which was value for money but, unfortunately, the staff were being so efficient we felt like we were being rushed. We would certainly go back again but would ensure we ask for a break between courses next time!

The Empire hotel is a beautiful family run hotel, I think it is currently the 3rd generation that are running it,. It's lovely to have coffee in the lounge watching the world go by, highly recommended

We arrived on time, we were greeted and shown to our table straight away. We always enjoy eating at this place, the food is great and the staff are always very helpful, friendly and attentive.

Last night for Valentines, myself and my husband visited the Watkins Restaurant situated in the fabulous 4 star Empire Hotel in Llandudno, North Wales and to say we left happy is an understatement !!!!

Delicious meal, beautifully presented, pleasant and efficient staff. Lovely ambiance and excellent value.

Fantastic service, value for money and ambience.

We booked a table for 4 persons for 6.30pm on a Saturday evening. We arrived on time and were shown to our table. Within seconds the staff were like locusts. One showing us the table, one giving out menus and one putting bread on the table. We felt harassed and ordered quickly.

We always use The Watkins Restaurant when we stay at The Empire Hotel. A very nice selection of well cooked food with a Silver Service Presentation and extremely good value.

Meal was excellent and there was a lovely choice for all. It would have been nice to have had after dinner mints with the coffee. Which should be the norm. Service excellent. Really enjoyed the whole evening

Visited this restaurant earlier in the year. We went for a set menu for a set price and found that a lot of dishes on it incurred an extra cost. The restaurant was in a funny location, overlooking a dark and dingy swimming pool. The service was very rushed and as soon as the last person on the table put their knife and fork down, the plates were whisked away. I like to take my time over dinner but it was impossible for this restaurant. Coffee was included in the menu and I think it would have been better if this had been served in the lounge. This would have saved the staff from telling us to leave because the table was re booked for another party. There's loads of places to eat in Llandudno, I'd suggest you pick one of them. I would never eat here again.

Lovely hotel near to all the facilities Llandudno has to offer, short walk to the pier. The Watkins restaurant is excellent on providing all the necessary finishing touches to make a holiday extra special, we went for a mini break to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary staying for 3 nights everything was spot on with both the hotel room with all coffee making facilities including home made biscuits every day plus a delivery of sherry in the decanter daily, rooms with a fridge and luxurious bedding all beautiful. Spa facilities very good down stairs.

El servicio fue excelente y la comida fue la mejor comida que hemos tenido en mucho tiempo. Sin duda volveremos para alojarnos en este elegante hotel o para una comida como no residentes.

Dining at this restaurant on our 2 year wedding anniversary was excellent as usual.

Spot on, food is amazing, staff are fantastic would defiantly recommend. Prices are reasonable and it is situated in a hotel. The pool comes as part of a hotel package which is a nice change for an English hotel

Comimos durante nuestra estancia en el hotel. La cena en la primera noche era preciosa tenía gambas y aguacate entrante, lubina, queso y galletas todo era encantador, mi madre tenía el mismo aperitivo y salmón todo estaba bien. Mi hijo tenía melón y luego pasta. El almuerzo del domingo fue realmente bueno. La siguiente noche, el principal fue decepcionante tanto mi madre como yo y tenía bacalao con costra de hierbas estaba un poco seco, pero tenía una salsa acuosa no muy agradable. El restaurante es muy agradable, pero he comido anteriormente en el restaurante junto a la piscina y yo diría que es mejor relación calidad-precio. La comida para niños es de 12, lo que probablemente sea bueno para un niño mayor, pero mi hijo de seis años no comió tanto. Un montón de personal muy atento buen ambiente.

28 para una comida de 5 platos. Excelentes estándares y la comida era muy buena. Nos alojamos en este hotel por una semana y comimos aquí dos veces en la noche. Los desayunos en este lugar fueron realmente buenos. Recomendaré este lugar a mi familia que estará en Llandudno el próximo año.

Comí en este restaurante mientras me hospedaba en el hotel. Honestamente puedo recomendarlo. Había un menú variado, algo para todos. Tuve lubina y estaba cocinado a la perfección. Fue acompañado de batatas fritas y una ensalada. Sopa casera para empezar, paté y un menú dulce.

A 4 course excellent dinner with plenty of choice and plus coffee and superb service. You would pay more in many other eating places. Fantastic breakfasts with lots of choices.Wonderful dining!

He is a real character but all the staff were excellent, as was the food. The restaurant is cosy and we will go again.

The set four course meal is excellent. There is always a good choice of starters, mains and desserts. The food is delicious, all prepared in the hotel including the breads and desserts. A good wine list and excellent silver service waiting staff. Included is tea or coffee which you have in the lounge. The restaurant is ideal for a special occasion or just a nice meal in a classic quality hotel setting. We have a meal here whenever we can.

My wife and I were recommended to eat in the poolside restaurant but it was fully booked so went for the Watkins. The meal was four courses - starter - soup - desert followed by coffee, £25 each. The service was second to none. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It is situated in the EMPIRE HOTEL.

The restaurant was FREEZING for breakfast. Had to wear 2 jumpers and even then was cold. More heating while you are eating!!!

We had a delicious 4 course meal for £25 which included a starter, soup, main course (I had rib-eye steak) and a desert, and also coffee included.

This Restaurant has a number of different size tables, wonderful Waiter Service, First Class Food in a very relaxed setting. Coffee and Tea is taken in the Lounge.

We were a table of 14. The service from the beginning was faultless, the food was amazing, 4 courses and everyone was bowled over by the presentation and quality of all the dishes. The whole evening was brilliant, and we hope to book again very soon.

This restaurant always used to get great reviews so we were very disappointed with both the food and service during our family Sunday lunch today. None of the food seemed freshly cooked, the menu appeared to have been devised to allow a speedy reheat and serve. The starters were all unmemorable and lacking taste. For mains we all had the pork loin this came as a soft, beige, coldish plate of mush. The pork had clearly been cooked in advance, thinly sliced and then put back into the sauce to reheat leaving it with little taste and no texture. It was served with a soft dollop of stuffing and an even softer dollop of mashed veg of some sort, the roasts were soggy and there was no sign of any fresh veg or even a bit of crackling to redeem the dreadful beigeness. Desserts were equally dull, it all reminded me rather of the worst of school dinners, edible and not actively offensive but just dull and tasteless. Coffee served in the lounge is a help yourself from a catering flask affair (probably left over from breakfast if the taste and temperature were anything to go by). On a positive note the harpist was good.

Excellent 4 course (followed by coffee in the lounge) dinner with some menu changes each night of our 4 night stay. The good quality breakfast food can be self-service or served at your table.

The Watkins restaurant is one we always try to book prior to visiting Llandudno. We book as they do get busy but it’s so worth it

I can’t even remember the amount of times I have eaten here in the Watkins restaurant and every time has been impeccable and neither myself nor the people I’ve been with have ever had any complaints. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the environment is so relaxing. Also excellent prices; three course Sunday dinner plus tea / coffee for only £16.50 each!

Asked if I was a resident? Asked whether I'd booked? Answered no to both questions. I'll have to check then came the reply. Why I asked? It says outside the restaurant is open until 9.30pm. Yes, but I still need to check with my boss. Exaclty the same as when I went to the poolside restaurant a few months earlier. So unwelcoming and unnecessary. Then a big fuss was made of seating me in a practically empty restaurant. Fish was dry. waitress asked if she could take my bread away! Bill was issued before they even brought my sweet! decided to have coffee in the lounge. As soon as I'd served myself it was taken away. I will not be dining at The Empires two restaurants again.

Visiting Llandudno again and stayed at the Empire hotel on the DBB rate. We stayed here a few years ago and had a wonderful time, hoped to find things equally good. Well, everything was as we remembered and had a fabulous 4 course dinner in the Watkins resteraunt as part of our package (£25 per person normally).

First off, what amazing value for money. £25.00 per person for four courses! Each of the courses were cooked to a very high standard, and the portions were just right, not too big as to make you too full for the next course. The staff were very attentive and courteous and we never had to wait long for our food. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone, and would certainly welcome another visit.

Took a chance on this hotel for an evening meal, when others on the "front" appeared to charge over the odds for their fare! We had a 4 course meal with choice of each course and could not fault it. The wine was also reasonably priced. Found the staff very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

We didn't stay at The Empire but having eaten here before I booked a table for 4 as a treat for my Wife & her parents. The meal is excellent value at £25.00 for 4 courses and coffee (as long as you take the coffee in the lounge, a supplement is added if you take it at the table). My Father in Law's and my meal was excellent and the Ribeye steak was delicious. My Mother in law and Wife had the chicken breast as a main and to be fair whilst it was well cooked the portion was quite small and a bit disappointing. Overall the meal was very enjoyable but I would say that the staff are almost too efficient. They are very polite and professional but it feels a bit clinical. As soon as you have finished your meal your plate is taken away and the next course is in front of you. After the main course I had to tell the waiter to wait for a while before we wanted dessert. I work in hospitality and appreciate the need to free tables up but we felt a little rushed to be honest and it did take the edge off a lovely meal. So Empire staff... chill out a bit and give a bit more time between courses, the restaurant and ambiance is lovely so let us enjoy it a bit more.

I have eaten many times at the poolside bar and at their other hotel the Osbourne hotel. I had for sometime wanted to try the Watkins restaurant, when had looked at it before it was a little more expensive, but as this was a special dinner, we decide to try it.

Staying in Llandudno for a week's holiday, we wanted to treat ourselves to a special dinner. We were not disappointed. The restaurant, in the Empire Hotel, is elegant and welcoming. The service friendly and professional. We had a four course meal for their £25 set price. The menu was inviting and gluten free accommodating. The food, wine and service was excellent. We had a lovely evening and thoroughly enjoyed the surroundings. Heartily recommended.

AVOID IF YOU HAVE TASTE. Booked as locals for my Father's birthday. Asked for a corner table due to my Mother's hearing, also a chilled bottle of Proscecco on arrival. Neither happened. Complained about table moved to stinking dishwasher area. The smell was vile. Food absolutely shockingly poor, processed sauces+meringue with goop a disgusting disgrace. Service rude and contemptuous. Lady there only polite person. When they start setting up for breakfast as you eat your starter... clearly an issue! Do not eat here, Llandudno has such lovely restaurants, this place frankly is a disgrace to the resort. The lost empire it should call itself. Thanks for giving us a laugh but not for a disgusting meal for my Dad's birthday. Eaten all over the world in some very poor places, never had such a disgusting experience. Shame on you.

Enjoyed dinner poolside , good selection to choose from and excellent value for money. Staff are friendly and very efficient . It was busy but still felt relaxed and we certainly weren't rushed. The set menu includes wine which was very acceptable and the desserts are all home made. All in all very good value for money.

A fantastic dining experience everyday for the 3 nights we stayed here. Both breakfast and dinner. Food was very fresh and always served piping hot. Waiters are very attentive. Very knowledgeable with the wine also. I'd advise the steak as it was wonderful. Well done on having such a lovely, busy restaurant.

We loved the whole experience, the food, the service and the setting. At £25 per head it was a bit of a treat for us, but what a treat! all four courses were well presented and tasty and we were well looked after by all the staff who were professional but friendly. We would definitely come back again; it was a lovely dining experience.
