The pleasing and restful atmosphere of the Waterstones bookshop cafe (Bon Accord) was enhanced by a delightful young lady named Emma. Courtious, engaging, communicative, thoughtful and with a lovely sense of humour, made my day. I was feeling rather under the weather due to a tiresome head cold and my hearing was muted - I explained this to Emma - she offered sympathy, asked me to sit down and she would deliver my order to my table - this see did promptly complete with a joke about the enormous receipt for a small purchase. Many, many of the young folks who work in shops in Aberdeen city centre could learn a great deal from this young woman! 10 out of 10 Emma.

Waterstones is now based in the Bon Accord Centre and the cafe is on the upper level. Although there are light snacks available, so far I have only had coffee and tea. The first time I had a latte and a fruit scone. It's a fairly big scone and the coffee cup was rather small, so I didn't have enough liquid and had to help myself to a glass of water. Next time I was wiser and asked for a pot of tea, which gave me plenty cups. The staff are always really pleasant and chatty. The tables are quite close together and it can get busy, but it's a great place just to sit down in the middle of town. I have a loyalty card and hope to be filling it up with stamps in future visits.

I went there today and the girl that served me was genuinely friendly and had a great sense of humor. I would definitely go back again.

This adjunct to the populat bookseller has now relocated to the Bon Accord Centre in Aberdeen. It now has the merit of being run by the company rather than a national chain and that shows in the pleasant attitude of the staff.

Just popped into Waterstones for a quick lunch and was extremely disappointed. The piri piri chicken wrap was extremely sweet but soggy; and the cheese and tomato toastie was poor quality, not toasted for long enough and dry. At £4 per sandwich, I expected a lot better. On top of this, there is literally no reception in there and no Wi-fi. If you want a quick lunch, go over to Pret - much better quality.

It is of course just a small cafe with the selection you could expect at such a place. If you like books this is a good break in between the browsing. Nothing special, but nice anyway

Travel section on the first floor so had to pass the coffee. Great place to sit and read what you have bought or read the free papers. Excellent selection of pastries and coffees (do try the toasted paninis).

Great place to grab a coffee and light bite when in the shop. Spend a while downstairs then visit the first floor. Smell the coffee and be smitten. Relax with your purchases, read the free newspapers or just chat to the folks at the next table. You are always going to have something in common.

I got two scoops in a tub for £4.60 which was ok value for money. The flavours were delicious - I tried cappuccino and bounty flavours. The service was very good. I would definitely come again.

Visited today staff friendly coffee nice cups but friend had a tea,, this was a cup of near boiling water with a tea bag, no where to put tea bags after use, cup only half full, when told we thought this a very poor way to serve tea was told teapots were either broke or being cleaned!! Not good enough when charged full price, will not be going again.

We were looking for some Christmas Cocktails and something different for a wee girly Christmas catch up in Aberdeen. We were keen to support somewhere independent and not fall into the usual chain restaurants within the city. Good old google turned up with The Lounge Bar & Kitchen and I’m pleased to say we were not disappointed. We received a very warm welcome. The cocktails hit the spot and went down a treat. We could have had 3 course Christmas menu with tea/coffee tablet and shortbread however we opted for the Scottish Tapas/Small Plates option. There were 3 of us and we shared 8 plates in total. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. We were well and truly stuffed with no room left to try the Sweet options so will have to have a return visit. On our visit a couple of the Vegetarian options were unavailable however as none of us were vegetarian this did not affect us. We’ll definitely be returning in the future.
