Very little food on offer compared to our last visit just cold sandwiches served without any garnish. Closed on busy Sundays and Mondays. Cafe almost empty on Tuesday lunchtime. CRT you can do much better!

A small but yet lovely little cafe. Prices aren't rhe cheapest but the food does taste nice, whether it be cake or a sandwich! Service is friendly and there's always the option of eating in or taking away. It does get busy during peak times, especially during the warmer and sunnier days.

We didn't eat anything but the smells were delicious. Coffee was great. Good views of the canal. You can sit on a sofa inside the shop leading to the museum.

The entry is on the side. The exit to the front was locked. The staff left us to get settled with no rush. Cafe is part of the museum so have food and drink then a wonder round.

Lovely cafe etc staff nice, great coffee. Really liked the preloved books part, for a donation of one pound. We were lucky enough to be there when the local greyhound club was. Soooo nice to see all the dogs. Lovely area, the 7 locks were abit much but did them over 2 days.

My LO requires a dairy free meal, they made her up a plate some proper ham, mixed salad, cucumber and tomato, with vegetable crisps as none of the sarnies were suitable, staff could not have been more helpful, my son had the soup and reports it was delicious, for me real leaf tea was a real treat to find and many cups were ordered and enjoyed, many thanks for being so accommodating to my daughter's dietary requirements - a brill day out, we shall be back!

Lovely café in the heart of Stoke Bruerne by the canal. The decor is so cosy and modern since the refurb and there's lots of quirky and historical items and books to browse! Coffee, soft drinks, cakes, crisps and sandwiches all available. Reasonable prices aswell.

Takeaway this evening wasn’t good. We have had much better in the past. Messed up the order which was frustrating. The prawn toasts were like rubber and the house special chow mein smelt like fish and was in a thick sauce and rather unpleasant. Such a shame. Probably won’t be rushing back. Wondering if now the restaurant is back open the takeaway isn’t as good as it’s been previously. Ordered via just eat- was ready in about 15 mins which maybe explains…

Continuing our new theme for 2025 of a weekly plod, pie and a pint we decided to keep ourselves local this time with an eight mile circuit of 8 starting off and finishing at the White Horse in Silverstone and taking in Abthorpe, Slapton and Bucknells Wood. They’re dog friendly and have a decent amount of vegan options on the menu; including two in their great value “2 for £16” lunchtime/afternoon offer. I booked a table for two, along with our two hounds, and we parked in their decent sized car park before setting out. As a joint consequence of us, and the hounds, being covered in mud and the unseasonably warm and sunny spring weather on arrival we switched our table to an outside one to save others from our bedraggled looks and the attentions of the two soggy doggies. The pub garden is large and complemented with a vast number of picnic tables/benches. The pub itself was probably but a third full with a mix of customers. I kicked off with a drinks order with MrsC opting for a refreshing lime and soda whilst I tried a pint of Everards Tiger. The beer was well kept with a good head. Despite my thrifty nudges towards the offer menu MrsC jumped in with an order for vegan chicken and mushroom pie with mash, red wine gravy and seasonal veggies which I followed suit on. Weirdly the order came out with two sets of cutlery and napkins yet only one pie? Profuse apologies followed and another pie was ordered from the kitchen; resulting in the first time in 26 years that MrsC has finished food first! The resultant food was hearty enough and the kale/carrots were freshly cooked as an accompaniment. The pie itself was a tad disappointing but, on reflection of pre-vegan days, I’m pretty sure I always felt that way of real chicken and mushroom pies so heh-hoh.. MrsC rated the pastry highly anyway. In essence the food menu catered for all with a mix of pub classics, some vegan scran and vegetarian too. It wasn’t stunning but neither was it poor. As post walk fuel it was certainly fit for purpose. The inside of the pub seemed a bit anomalous in that it sits on the village crossroads in a classic Northants ironstone building but had the feel of a “town” pub about it. It offered a reasonably priced food menu with a decent selection of beers /ciders, though mostly keg, and there’s worst spots to site a pub but not sure we’d return; with or without hounds. Served us well for the reason we went but nothing compelling to draw you back.

Within walking distance of home the Bakers Arms is a friendly public house with guest beer and ales. Now serving food, fish and chips Friday and other choices both Friday and Saturday. Lovely food to make it a great evening out. Just had Sunday lunch which was very tasty. Wednesday is also quiz night.
