Cash only. Food was adequate, but the egg fried rice was just boiled rice with egg fragments mixed through.

First time ordering a takeaway from here this evening and it was fantastic! Was genuinely surprised how fresh tasting and excellent the food was! We thoroughly enjoyed our takeaway and to top it off we had the friendliest of delivery chap! Excellent service and meal, thanks!

Very poor and let down as menu misrepresents portion sizes. We paid £90 for the set meals plus a couple of extras but literally a couple, where two people minimum recommended for size so we ordered three but when the order arrived it did not easily feed nine. We phoned as we felt we had not simply been given enough food but found out we had been delivered the correct amount….according to them anyway. We were told we could order more but would cost more. Essentially the set meals are nowhere near enough to feed the number we believed we had ordered for . Very poor and misleading when you look at other portions given ordered from the normal menu. Will never order from here again.

I celebrated my 22nd wedding anniversary at The Rice Bowl last night and it was a fabulous dining experience. We ordered some traditional Chinese dishes including one which was not included in the menu but as we had pre-ordered, the chef was happy to oblige as they were given time to source the ingredients. For starters, we had wasabi prawns (which lasted 3 seconds before they were demolished) followed by a traditional dried scallop and mock shark’s fin soup. Our mains were a selection of popular dishes including steamed turbot with spring onions, ginger and chilli, crispy roast pork, seafood egg custard, braised pork belly and yam hotpot, spicy stir fried cuttlefish and tender beef in red wine sauce. Dessert was deep fried ice cream in coconut batter. Needless to say, my family and I went away absolutely stuffed and delighted. The staff were all very friendly and efficient too. Thank you for making my anniversary so special!

Authentic Hong Kong-style Cantonese cuisine, not Gui Lao Tang cuisine. There are many special side dishes that are difficult to eat in the UK except London. The chef is attentive and not just a one-size-fits-all creation. Fair prices and attentive service. It’s so exciting to be able to find such decent Chinese food in this small town! Will come often in the future~

The no. 1 traditional Chinese restaurant in Towcester where you can savour very good and delicious food. Staff are warm and polite to every customers. A very nice and splendid place I would recommend to my friends.

Disappointing and non-optional 12.5% service charge! We were recommended here by friends, but would not go again. Starters were fresh and hot - small portions when advised the shared starter was for 5 people - but mains were lacking, oily, small, and several of us felt very unwell after leaving. After looking at what (we thought!!) was the menu online before booking and visiting which turned out to be the takeaway menu, we were shocked by how limited the eat-in menu was - no chicken balls, chow mein, salt and pepper dishes, etc. as promised on the menu advertised online, We had to ask for cutlery once our mains had arrived, and the glasses were dirty when bought to the table. The atmosphere was dead, to say the least, even with 4 other tables in the dining room, and the sound of the kitchen and takeaway orders being placed on the phone was very loud whilst we were eating. Please give your 2 koi a bigger tank - the poor things are so sad looking, bumping into the glass and eachother!! 🐠🐠

Some dishes in our order such as satay chicken were very nice but the smoked shredded chicken was not cooked properly and smelled dreadful and the sweet and sour pork balls were tough and chewy. This was disappointing as the gentleman who took our order was very friendly and the service was very fast but we were put off a lot of the other dishes as a result.

I asked for a pork bowl, and the guy brought something different, and he was being rude when I told him he had made a mistake. All he was saying he can’t return money which I didn’t even ask for.

Food was lovely but just not enough of it for the price. Takeaway only as restaurant is now closed. Cash Only also.

We were visiting Silverstone and Googled the nearest takeaways and chose the Rice Bowl. Sad that they had to close the restaurant due to these hard times. Takeaway was hot, fresh & tasty but have to agree with others, the portions are very small for what you pay unfortunately. We usually pay about £40 for 3 people at our local Chinese but this was £58 for 3 and for less food. Staff very friendly and it is a Cash Only takeout.

Usually go lees cottage and this time I wish I did, was over charged for food that was not labelled so I had to figure out what was pork and what was chicken everything was swimming in oil and grease, chow mains had no flavour or sauce and taste burnt the only thing that was nice was soup and crackers I will not be returning I’m a die hard lees cottage fan, save your money and avoid

Just spent 25 pound I'm fuming chips wasn't even cooked hard on the inside usually 10 chicken balls got 8 the batter was disgusting the chicken was OK sauce was nice but the dearest Chinese in town I expected much much more never again Lee's cottage all the way from now on

We ordered on Uber Eats, food is late and had to move estimated delivery time… and every time we’ve phoned the line has been “busy” on numerous occasions over an hour long period… either I’m just unlucky, the phone is disconnected or they’re so busy it’s near impossible to catch them on the phone… either way… still waiting for food, ordered over an hour ago…

This is our local Chinese takeaway, and is our go to place for Chinese food. The food is always excellent and hot on arrival. Extremely happy with the service.

Food is good but portions are small. I ordered a salt and chilli prawns, website says you get 8 prawns, I got 7. They increase prices but rip you off with the portions. Once we recieved a wrong dish on our order so had to get the correct one redelivered but they asked for the wrong dish back! . I wonder which poor customer got that on their order.

I can highly recommend a 15, 64, 09 and 6. Only let down was the telephone manner when placing a takeaway order.

Shame card payment no longer accepted for amounts lower than £15. It means single people with smaller appetite always have to have cash.

Used this takeaway for the first time. Some of the food was kind of ok apart from the dry spare ribs ordered for £6 .They were terrible ,small,too dry, hardly any meat on them,and worst of all one had a 5cm piece of thick cartilage attached that made me feel sick, and put me off the rest of the food.Shame really because I was hoping the experience would be much better than the Happy Garden also in Towester.I have one more Chinese takeaway to try in Towester,and after that I will probably give up on Chinese food all together.

Our first time trying The Rice Bowl and we were not disappointed! Their food is full of flavour, and they offer a wide variety of dishes. We were worried that the portions might be a bit small for us but were pleasantly surprised that we had enough for leftovers! Would definitely recommend.

The Worse Chinese I've ever had, got the order wrong, refused to accept it charged £12 for seaweed prawn on toast and won ton when I ordered ribs satay chicken prawn on toast was totally rude avoid unless you speak Chinese but even then they play dumb DISGRACE! Total Liberty Avoid Like The Plague!

only 4 stars they always encourage you to leave , i was with my family the other night snd a couple come in .... asking for a table claiming they have book ... we were on a table of four with only 3 members at the table ... as we got the bill and paid a worker was already at the door holding the handle before we had finished our drinks , just found it abit rude ; but food is great

Just had a order delivered and it took 1hr 15mins to get 2 mins up the road . The food was greasy and wet . Unsure if the vegetarian food is meat free ! Just a horrible meal . We will not order again .

Always constantly of good quality. I love the sauces and rice dishes are made with the finest rice. The vegetarian dishes are superbly fresh as are the tasty and lean chicken dishes. The portions are always large

From the outside you are unlikely to leap through the door with much enthusiasm as it all looks a bit drab and dusty but it you take a deep breath and dive in and go straight through to the restaurant area you'll find a very genuine welcome and décor that probably hasn't changed since the 1970s. But that's how Chinese restaurants are and this is clean 1970s. we even had the marble rotating centre thing which makes sharing dishes easy provided everyone heads in the same direction. The menu has both Peking and Cantonese items and we chose one of the pre-set menus with a bundle of additional items. Prawn crackers arrived at the table almost as quickly as we did. The rest of the food was considerably slower, though. That's not necessarily a bad thing and it was all very freshly cooked and sizzled nicely on arrival. As a group of five, three teenagers a 30-year-old and I'm not giving away my massive age, we'd decided just to share everything and asked that they just bring it all as and when it was ready, expecting a sort of continuous flow of food. We also thought we'd ordered two of the set meals and worried that they were tiny portions but it transpired we'd only been given (and charged for) one. As well as misunderstanding that bit of the order, our desire to have most stuff arriving together didn't seem to get heard either and there were quite long gaps between 'courses'. We thought they were just being slow but they were just waiting for someone to finish something and that someone was trying to make it last until something else came along. Chicken and egg. Or maybe a beef and oyster sauce situation. For all that, the elderly staff were like old Chinese mothers looking after us and you kinda didn't want to hurry them along. The dishes were all excellent and, once the main courses arrived, there was plenty, despite the single set meal, and all was good with the world. I particular noted that we were only provided with chopsticks which was a nice change to the boring spoons and forks most establishments now give people as standard. I am sure we could have asked for some though so if you're worried about your chopstick skills sending prawns down others' cleavages you'll be fine. It was a Monday evening, quite early and there was just one other table occupied so we were able to laugh and joke without worrying about disturbing anyone. For what we wanted it proved an ideal place. Good quality, reasonable price - about £16 a head in total - and I am happy to recommend it.

Good food, never eaten in but have eaten out many times.

We have not been to the Rice Bowl for a number of years as we have been away. We fancied a Chinese and this was the only one local, we were shown to our seats and then it went downhill.. our started arrived well one did and it was dumped on the table near to my wife we then waited for mine which when arrived also dumped near me, off they walked no "enjoy your meal". The starter was poor tasted like it was frozen, with a gluey sauce over it. Whisked away the plates when we finished and then the main arrived... well i ordered the "House Special" if that is the special i am so glad i did not order anything else. Chicken with chilli.... so get a bit of processed chicken half cook it then pour uncle bens mix on it... splatter it on a plate make sure the sauce messy and is all round the edge and dump it back on the table...make sure you do not make it look nice as it tasted as it looked foul, no chilli either. Two people came in and waited to be seated, nobody could be bothered with them so they walked out. I was going to complain at the table but my wife said no just lets go and never come back.. in the end i did explain in a very clam way away from anybody that we were not happy with the meal the service and that they missed a customer... the waitress came over and asked what we did not like i explained again.. OK thanks and off she went. did we get a sorry have a glass of wine on the house or how about 10% discount next time... just paid the full bill which was very expensive for what we had, and offered some unappetizing looking mints on the way out....I will not be going back there ever.

I want to start the review on some positives: the restaurant was clean (we ate in), the fish tank as you walk into the restaurant is a really nice feature as are the paintings on the wall, the mint at the end of the meal and the taste of the food itself. Ok, so the above paragraph stands as a means of showing that I always look for the positives and I don't like to moan for its own sake. So now to the stuff that I wasn't so impressed with... We walked in and was shown a table, like they pointed to a table in the corner of the room in a way that seemed really flippant as in "yeah yeah park your carcas over there, whatever" kinda thing and we were like "oh, er ok". Our waiter didn't seem smily even though I was very polite and smily to him. Our meals were served to us promptly but I had to ask for basic cutlery which surely should be given to us anyway! The food tasted good but considering the competition regarding Chinese food in Towcester, the portion size didn't feel like good value for money. It wasn't appallingly bad but it was less than impressive which is a shame because the restaurant looks like it has a lot of potential but sadly it is let down by a passive style of customer service. We were the only two people in the restaurant and I'd barely finished my last mouthful before they took our plates away and they didn't ask if we were finished or would like to order anything else. It was as if they wanted us out of there. Awww Rice Bowl, you have potential but it didn't feel like it quite made it yannow! Bit of a shame really because the menu is potentially very impressive. Not sure if I'd return.
