Watan Restaurant Southall in Ealing

Avoid this place at all costs! There should be minus starts for this one. At first, they seemed really nice, but that changed quickly. They demanded full payment upfront before the event, and unfortunately, we paid, thinking it would ensure a smooth experience. When we arrived, the upstairs hall was dirty, and we had to clean it ourselves. Our décor company also complained about their rude and unhelpful attitude. Despite their assurances that things would improve, the service remained poor. The food was cold, some dishes from our agreed menu were missing, and we had to chase them multiple times. When they finally brought the food, it was taken away and returned 15 minutes later—still cold! The manager and owner were extremely rude and simply didn’t care. Their excuse? That the downstairs area was busy. For a private party—where you’re paying significantly more than walk-in customers—that’s completely unacceptable. They overpromise, underdeliver, and treat customers poorly. If you're planning a private event, stay far away from this place!

Amazing interior. Invested a lot for sure. They have a charcoal bbq in the front window. Good choice of meats, grilled with care. The Karahi lamb was superb as was the Saag. Tandoori roti ok, but very salty. Real let down was mango lassi that was pure sugar and served in a jug that was filthy. No thank you. Lots of staff, but poor communication with customer. Perhaps they just don’t get training? Shame the toilets at 13.00 were pretty yucky. Nice food but disorderly service.

This restaurant looks amazing and we had high hopes of a great night out as a family. Unfortunately, the evening was a real let down...the staff were not attentive at all. We had to get up and ask for napkins, plates, condiments etc. The communication method in this place was awful....the staff were constantly shouting out names across the restaurant trying to get each other's attention...which seemed rather distracting and inappropriate. The food was lacking in flavour, not at all what we expected. The naan was soft and hot and the family grill platter was ok, but that was about it...the other dishes we ordered just had no flavour. Nothing special overall, unfortunately.

Excellent location in Southall. Decor is brilliant - newly renovated Vegetarian food is absolutely brilliant- we had tadka daal & saag with afghani naan Kheer was too good Bilal gave us excellent & courteous service. Bilal looked after our needs & was very professional too.

Floor all over the restaurant was slippery. We had a elderly grandparent who was scared to walk back and forth to the toilet. When we told the people that worked there, they just smiled at us. ALSO THEY WOULD NOT GIVE US TAP WATER. WE HAD TO PAY FOR OVERPRICED BOTTLED WATER. REPORTING THEM TO THE VARIOUS FOOD AND SAFETY AGENCIES.

Amazing service, amazing food, amazing everything! Really enjoyed the evening. Atmosphere was amazing. Would definitely go again

Visited Watan last night (Friday 30th September) for a meal with family. Asked for all the food to be served at the same time which was too complex a request for the staff to handle. Kids meal arrived and it took Watan staff another 20 mins to serve the drink that the meal should have come with. Then the three mixed grills arrived which were lukewarm at best. They were sent back to be reheated. The excuse was that we are busy so things cool down. First time I’ve heard that excuse for a grill when they are normally delivered to the table sizzling. Was not impressed and will not be visiting Watan anymore

A friend and myself went to Southall, we travelled from midlands on some business, Normally we would go to Giftos, been going there for 20 years every time we visit, we thought we would give this particular establishment a try. Won’t go into great details, all the rice etc displayed in the counter , the microwave everything, all the meat etc , cross contamination everywhere. Starter we had mix grill, way over priced , poor quality meats , massala fish swimming in fat and grease, fish was awefull, saag ghost had no flavour , naan was the only edible item as it came out the tandoor. Sorry guys it may be busy , but in the midlands we look out for quality.

I had heard such good things about this place and wanted to give it a try. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was quite busy - a sign that this place is good I thought. Sadly not the case. Our experience was chaotic from start to finish. From taking ages to find a table for two, to having to ask twice for sauces to accompany our food. There were plenty of staff around but no attention to detail at all. The food itself was terrible - I have eaten in lots of places all over the country and can honestly say the service and food combined was one of the worst in this place. The portion size is not great but the food itself was bland, tasteless and over salted. The rice was cold and tasted like it had just been microwaved. I won't be visiting again. To top it all - just be aware that they put bottled water on all tables and then add it to your bill without even mentioning it to you!

Myself, my wife and two kids visited Watan in Southall last night. Amazing food which was served quickly even though very busy. Our waiter was very nice and polite. Great service, good variety, great food all at a reasonable price. 5 stars from us. Definitely recommended

Amazing service was very busy but service was very good. Ordered the Afgan mixed grill and it was amazing and full of flavour. There was a queue out the door but the staff was brilliant. Will definitely be back soon

The food here is amazing been here few times never disappointed, definitely one of the best place around this area.

The food in this restaurant is very delicious the Afghan mix grill is the one I will recommend thier recipe is amazing! The customer service at this restaurant is excellent the staff are very friendly like this guy called Wali they listen and correctly write your order down and are helpful in choosing the food which they recommend. This restaurant is the one I will recommend a lot especially family wise and friends.

The food at this restaurant was delicious, the main speciality would probably be the Afghan mix grill. The watiers are friendly espically this waiter called Wali, very good customer service, good managament. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone and would definitely come again.

Visiting Watan in December, maybe for the 4th time in 2017. I have given a rating of two as the food is nice, maybe the chefs are doing their job well in this.

We went watan restaurant because of name and also we heard about them as well but they wasting people money the food was smelly and specially meat and we asked them mild they brought full spicy we couldn't even eat 1 single naan with 1kg food and when we asked them to change our food to mild food they sad we made this for you we don't have that much time to listen your wishes then we sad sorry we came in your restaurant get our bill please and we left highly bad experience 1 hour service time Ohh my God!!!!!

We go there with family wo order food mix grill lamb Karahi bbq fish nd drinks service was sooo bad nd the staff attitude was too poor nd arrogant.food was too oily nd it's Come too late very bad customer service I never go again so I recommend others to don't waste ur time nd money thankxx

We went Friday night for a family dinner out sawthis restaurant buzy we thought food will be good lets try that was our biggest mistake ever.After waiting for 40 minutes for our food order came in installement starter mix grill was so dry meat seems of and uncooked more rice and big naan than the meat for very expensive price compare to other restaurant in the Broadway prices are Very hight and the quality of food is very poor. And don't get me started on the main course chersi kerhai was full off uncooked red chilli powder and chicken was swimming in the oil.chapli kebab was also raw meat.never go again there I have learn that if the place looks busy that doesn't mean food will be good.
