Our whole family, children and grandchildren enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Walker’s Retreat. Just as we expected, the food was very good, catering to different diets and beautifully presented. Afterwards we were able to spill out into the courtyard where the younger children could safely play. Thank you Dawn for a memorable occasion

Our 1st visit today and I can say it will not be our last. As friends we go out for a coffee n toastie or a lunch every few weeks for a catch up. We enjoyed today, the place is clean and well presented, the decor is up to date with an Easter feel . The staff were well mannered and pleasant, service with a smile and more. The food and coffee was excellent, and we really like the colourful napkins, made a change from the normal boring white. One other thing in its favour is the parking in front , for me that's a big plus. We will definitely be going back. 🙂

Just had lunch at Walker’s Retreat, nice, bright and clean cafe, friendly local sort of place. Lunch was very nice, lovely fresh panini’s with a really nice salad and home made slaw, really makes a difference when the salad is properly presented rather than the ‘Chuck something green next to the sandwich’ approach you get elsewhere! We asked about the gluten-free options for our daughter as we plan to return, she is a coeliac sufferer and very sensitive. The very helpful and friendly lady behind the counter is very up to speed with Coeliac and cross-contamination, seems that they can cater very well for the wheat wary!! Very pleased to have found this place, we will definitely be back.

Came to this café for afternoon tea with my family on a Sunday. We had booked a table and it was ready for us when we came in. The table and everything on it had been sanitised, it was all very clean. Our food and drinks came straight away. I had the Tuna Melt Toastie and it was very nice, i would recommend. After our food we waited quite a while to order some cakes. However this wasn’t down to the staff attending us but there were a lot of people coming in for coffee takeaways. The staff served the people coming in to take away straight away so they weren’t crowding the shop, adhering to the Covid-19 guidelines. When the cakes did arrive they were very nice. The staff were helpful, friendly and were all wearing masks. We’ve walked past this little café lots of times and if you do the same then i’d recommend going in and trying it out.

Booked over the phone the day before to reserve a table I've been meaning to visit for a while & I wish I had visited sooner. Stunning little cafe. We arrived 10 minutes early and the cafe was filling up nicely the smell of coffee was lovely. Nice & easy laid out menu plenty to chose from I ordered pot of tea, beef & onion panini which was absolutely stunning with coleslaw and salad. The service was great really friendly server who was all masked up and wearing the correct PPE, food was well presented and delicious. We had to wait a little while to order our desserts as the cafe was quite busy and a few joe public were queuing outside for take away coffee's. There was facilities out in the back yard with tables etc for people with dogs to sit. I had a cherry scone with my own little pot of jam & cream would recommend you try this. Each table had its own hand sanitizer which I thought was great & for little ones who can't keep there fingers out of there mouths. Overall 5 stars & will definitely be returning in the near future. To help support our local businesses during these tough times this place is one that we need to support to still be around when Covid is no more. Very reasonably priced, loved it.

This is a very welcome little cafe to our area. My husband and I have been several times for coffee, and occasionally for lunch. We have always been served by very friendly staff. The outside space at the back is lovely and warm on a sunny day and I recently enjoyed a gorgeous Greek salad. The food is always hot and plentiful.

My husband and I called here, after an early visit to the hairdresser next door, and were very impressed. I had a very fruity toasted tea cake and my husband had the full English breakfast. Everything was beautifully cooked and served piping hot. The staff were very pleasant. Most of the customers seemed to be regulars, which to me, means that they were also happy with the food and the service. .,

My initial review of this tea room ,was deleted as I'm sire the owner was not happy with the honest feedback but it is unfair as we genuinely did not have a good experience here.Rude staff, unclean and wasn't impressed with the food or the drinks.im a fair person that will give somewhere a good review if deserved but this place doesn't deserve it.its pricey and you can get a nice coffee at lots of other places in the area that's alot nicer and alot cheaper ,simple as that.

I love this little, friendly tea-room. The cakes are all homemade and are amazing. Today I sampled the raspberry and white chocolate cake. On previous occasions I have had blueberry cupcakes and my family members have had brownies and Victoria sponge. All the cakes we have had here have been fantastic. On a sunny day, it is lovely to sit the the back garden which is South-facing and a real sun-trap. The back garden is dog-friendly too. I’ve never had lunch here but it is definitely well worth a visit for a cake and a cuppa.

Visited today with my mum for her birthday and there were so many children that seemed to have the run of the place who were out of control, shouting and screaming. There was a table which was absolutely filthy which was extremely off putting while we were eating. There was also an argument going on behind the counter between the staff. The waitress was lovely however but I certainly wouldn’t return. I just wanted to go there for a nice chat and a coffee which was impossible really.

I have just moved to Mill Lane and me and my wife ,when walking passed ,decided to pop in for a coffee.i will be honest but we was taken back and disappointed as on the outside it looked lovely. There was nice decor(not personally my taste) but the seating was very uncomfortable and cramped up together so you feel your too close to everyone in the room. There’s too much in the room which doesn’t give it a relaxed feelWe ordered a cappuccino and a latte and decided to get a jacket potato and a sandwich which took nearly half an hour to come to the table which is unacceptable and although I appreciate that it was handmade ,we nearly left it took that long.the food was okay, nothing special and at £6.25 for a tiny jacket potato, my wife left hungry. The drinks were fine but did want to query how many shots were in the coffee as it tasted weak. The room itself is layed out funny which made us feel conscious as we felt everyone was staring at us.The lady with red hair who owns the establishment, must have asked us about 6or 7times if everything was okay which was a bit annoying and un-nerving.Lastly something strange we picked up on was that there was lots of children running round and a storyteller ?? Is this a playgroup or a cafe for adults to go and relax (hence “retreat”) in the name.im not sure if the owner is confused between what she would like from this establishment!Being as though there are lots of other eating/drinking establishments in the area I think we will take our business else where as this is too pricey, not relaxing at all with screaming children and was given a £20.72 bill at the end of it . We was disappointed as we have just moved up the road and this would have been somewhere for us to come regular, however we will not return.

My hairdresser's salon is next door to Walker's Retreat and I have been meaning to go there for almost 2 years since it opened. I'm ashamed to say that my first visit was on 24 May this year, when I was on a special diet for a few days. I went with my husband. The proprietress was on holiday but her colleague and assistant couldn't do enough to ensure that my order was prepared in accordance with my temporary dietry requirements. The food and coffee were delicious and reasonably priced, the service was excellent and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. My husband and I went again a few days ago and sat in the delightful garden at the rear where we enjoyed the best bacon bap and latte - in fact my husband had two of each! No wonder why he is now so interested in when my next hairdresser's appointment is due...!

I went in here on my own not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised, it's well decorated and very clean, staff were really nice and friendly and food was restaurant quality. I am very demanding with food, I noticed how clean the salad was, the vinaigrette was custom made and extremely fresh, I can always tell when it isn't. The toastie was cooked to perfection as well. There was a warm and welcoming atmosphere and I feel like they actually care about what they do. What a change from the other local businesses in hazel grove! breath of fresh air. Another thing I liked was the ease of access to their wifi network which isn't always the case when you go to a cafe or business, would be a good place to have a business meeting or equally casual chat with friends.I will be back here for more food soon, and would recommend it to anyone in the local area. I did not try the drinks but the cakes looked excellent as well.

Visited this lovely tea shop this week with my friend. We were very impressed. It is off the beaten track somewhat, but free parking is a bonus. Really friendly server, who is the owners daughter. Owner was there, she was very busy actually mixing cakes, taking the tins into the back and baking them! Couldn’t be fresher than that! I have a nut allergy and the fact that she bakes the cakes herself gave me confidence that she is sure what has nuts in and what doesn’t, a lot of cafes and restaurants cannot be that certain and I just can’t risk eating there. Lovely latte served in tall glasses. The china cups and saucers are all from vintage sets, different sets on each table, which is set before you sit down. Lovely touch. A place which is easy to miss because of its position, but I recommend you try it and don’t miss out on this hidden secret. Uncomplicated menu, this type of tea shop doesn’t need a fancy over the top 10 page menu. I prefer less items all done well and served freshly. We promised we will definitely return, and we will. Loved it.

From the moment you step through the door of Dawn's Retreat you can't help but be impressed by and take in the ambience of a tea and coffee shop that is something quite rare and very special. Quality everywhere! The tasteful décor and classy, yet stylish, homely furnishings only serve to enhance and compliment the friendly, warm welcoming experience that greets each customer. It's a busy little hub of community warmth and vitality. Clearly much thought and loving care has gone into every aspect of its design and layout which reflects so well on owner Dawn and her catering team. Add to that the tastefully chosen crockery (no plastic here) and a wonderful selection of great value freshly baked home made scones and cakes plus sandwiches, soup and salads then you really are in for a treat and spoilt for choice. It's definitely a little gem of a place. You almost want to keep it a secret. But surely that wouldn't be fair or there again would it? What a find!

Such a lovely little spot! Literally popped in there on the morning I’m writing this and grabbed two bagels and a dirty chai latte. The Carrot lox and cream cheese is SOOO good, for two non-vegans, me and my gf could not believe how like smoked salmon it tasted! The staff that served me today (I’m guessing you’re the owners guys!) were so lovely and had so much time to talk to me even though they’d just opened up. For any short-staying travelers in Stockport, GO HERE, it’s such a lovely little spot in what I’m finding is such a lovely town.
