Amazing micro pub serving lots of ale on the high street. I had a pale ale which was lovely. Friendly behind the bar. Traditional pub decor. Very cosy. Open 7 days. Limited space so get in early and grab a spot. You could have a good session in here. Highly recommended. 🍻

Great small real ale pub. Always a good selection of beers, cider too. Lots of great beers in bottles to take home. Visit you won't be disappointed. A "dog bar" is there and once your dog has sampled you won't be able to pass without getting dragged in.🐕The regulars are all very friendly.

Flic spotted this micro bar next door to Bevi so we walked all of ten yards to sit next to where we were just sat. Super micro bar with six handpump real ales. Flic ordered another Shropshire beer, a Salopian brewery Darwin's Origin. Proper micro pub that is well worth a visit. Also sell a big Bottle Shop beer selection. The toilets are downstairs ( look to the left of the bar). There is also a second cosy room with a log burner down there plus a very small outside patio. Great pub.

What a great find, this place is like the Tardis, the selection of beers and ciders is amazing. Its a bit like the land that time forgot but what a great little boozer! very friendly both customers and staff. Dog treats and water so my dog felt very welcome too, which is important to me.

Fabulous real ale bar. This is a small venue. There are steps inside and the toilet is down a flight of stairs. Great atmosphere and beer is well kept. We had pork pie with mustard and pickles to go with it.

I went into the Oldknow with a friend before watching Dune at a nearby cinema. The place was quite full, which is easy considering the venue is not overly massive. This is the first time I have drank in Marple for over twenty years. Walking into this bar, it was similar to how I remember pubs all those years ago. It was mainly male orientated, though it was a beer bar with craft ales, so you would expect that. Even though I felt slightly intimidated by all the blokey, blokes having a good time, they all seemed quite friendly. I don't visit many ' straight' bars now, but this generally felt ok. I wouldn't have liked to do a pirouette to try that out but it seemed 'gay friendly '. And I do put that in my pub reviews now, especially as one recently visited establishment was most definitely not. I would go again anyway and have a few more beers there and if I do, then I will re-review.

Just a quick review as it is very clear this pub is already well established & appreciated for the quality of its beers! The cask tried were excellent, staff were lovely & friendly & all I can say is ensure you find on any visit to Marple!( well served by buses from Stockport & only a short distance from the train station with the bonus it's downhill after a beer!)

A great and ever-changing choice of beers. A cozy welcoming atmosphere. Only minus point is that the occasional performers do not really need amplifiers for a pub of that size. Too loud !!! Some of us go in to talk with friends.

Up from the south visiting friends. They recommended The Samuel Oldknow as they know we like ale. We weren't disappointed, several different choices, well kept and served with a smile. Lots of ciders and other bottled beers too. It's really small but the clientele are friendly and don't mind you sharing their table. There is seating downstairs too but we enjoyed the atmosphere in the main bar. If we didn't live 250 miles away it would definitely become our local!

What an authentic little find. It feels like this micro pub has been there forever, you’d never know it used to be a florist not so long ago! It’s small but there is also seating downstairs with a welcoming log burner & a little beer garden/yard. Cosy & friendly with lots of board games to play whilst you sip away. Fab addition. Only complaint would be the toilets were a bit grim.

We last visited this establishment on the afternoon of the Marple carnival which was 16th June at 1pm. 3 old mates had a lovely afternoon in a very welcoming and friendly environment. Fantastic beer, what more can you ask for? We all stumbled out having had 4 or 5 pints, happy laughing and in fine fettle. It doesn't get better than this!.

Great micro pub with an ever changing selection of good beers and ciders. It looks really small from the outside but has a surprising amount of seating with a downstairs area with a lovely wood burner. A small outside yard at the rear offers more seating in the summer. This small micro pub has a wide range of good beers and has a wonderful, strong cloudy cider, during the festive season they also had wonderful mulled wine on sale. Obviously a small enterprise there is surprisingly plenty of room for customer seating and downstairs ( rather steep) a stone flagged lounge with a log burning stove. Well recommended and worth a visit if you are a real ale fan.

The best brekkie on the planet. And they sell booze as well as a cuppa. Now visit infrequently as we live 30 miles away. Many happy memories from when we were Heatonians. Also a great place for a take-out to be eaten on the way to the golf club on a Sunday morning.
