A traditional rural pub with average beer choices. Food menu was good value but not great for any vegans - probably not the target demographic!

20/8/23 Sunday lunch. We had the Roast dinner, my wife had Beef and I had the Gammon. Must say this was the best Roast Dinner we have had for a long time. Really tasty food, cooked really well (compliments to the chef), and generous portions. Too full to have a desert, so we had a takeaway desert. Worth every penny (also had drinks so the cost is including drinks). Really friendly service from the Staff. Will definitely recommend for anyone including families, and will return as soon as we can. Thank you.

A disgrace! Seems like some people really are inbred in this country, definitely the staff of this inhospitable place! Instead of valuing their unique selling point of being the only pub of this place they chose to be unfriendly to visitors. Leaving with a postcard of “don’t go there ever again”!

Sorry, but the food was so slow coming out. Waited nearly one and half hours, and with the pub being so empty, we couldn't see how this was possibly. Had to take some of the food with us in take away boxes as we run out of time. So not the most relaxing two hours spent at a pub with hungry children to feed.

We had a very bad experience here. We went yesterday and were told that the kitchen closed, which was fair enough, so we tried visiting again today but much earlier, at 5pm. The same barman told us that they were out of food, even if there were tables that had just received their food. I asked if there was absolutely nothing left, and he said 'yes'. There is no other option to eat in the village, including no open shops, and we were counting on this place. I find it difficult to believe that nothing was left, xenophobia maybe?

March '23 - The Waldegrave Arms, an off the beaten path, Grade Lloyd listed 16th century inn, popular with walkers and those wishing a quieter, less fractious pub experience. Really thick stone walls, a very large outdoor area, kids climbing frame, real ale and home cooked food. The immediate future is somewhat ambivalent. It is up for sale.

Should be doing better, the front of staff member taking deep sighs of frustration with customers coming in. The only plus side was the playground, food despite it being very quiet took nearly 50 minutes for sausage and chips and fish and chips. With no volume of customers, its not ideal. No ice, no oat milk. When other customers did arrive they were constantly met by "no we don't have that" I think you should listen to your customers and do more. When you have great local produce why are you cooking deep fried Richmond sausages?

Great Sunday lunch - very reasonably priced (especially compared to others in the area) for a proper home cooked roast, with lots of meat & gravy. Would recommend for food, or for a casual pint

My wife and I stopped for lunch after a dog walk today. Friendly service very nice lunch and well kept beer. Shame these village pubs are not used more. East Harptree is a large village and this could be a great social hub and would be missed if lost. To all villages use your pubs and shops or they will be gone.

We last visited the Waldegrave in late May 22 when the food was delicious and freshly prepared with lots of option available. We visited today and the food is now below average deep fried or reheated pub grub. No vegan or healthy options available, and only one vegetarian option because they didn’t have any vegetable curry or “meat free chilli”. What a shame the food has gone down hill. I think the pub may have changed management since our last visit.

I just had an annoying altercation in pub with a playground that I closed their gate... excuse me but that needs to stay open for our patrons. I was really upset after because it was one of our favourites. Honestly do they think their customers are so stupid they can't open a simple gate. Being a mum of 4 under 7 I was having a lovely time until the containment was compromised. I think it would be a nice pub for 5 + but my 2 year old adventurous twins safety where they don't understand. Note: Go to Queen Vic at Priddy or Castle of comfort and learn how to treat families better.

Overpriced, overcomplicated menu with not very helpful staff, after ordering drinks which were brought out all ok and asking for a few more minutes to decide what food to order as there were no children's menu to offer only smaller portions which not many children would like I would imagine, after waiting for 30 minutes to no member of staff to return to go inside and ask to pay for drinks to not even be asked if we were going to order food which would have been 8 adult portions and 1 child portion, clearly don't need the business, wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return I'm sorry to say

What a difference a few months makes. This place has really upped its game and the results are fantastic. Incredibly attentive staff (we got a 5 min warning our food was coming out so we could bring the kids in from the play area outside) The food is excellent and the Sunday roasts are plentiful and have lovely interesting touches (roasted beetroot and celeriac) kids portions are hearty and well priced. .the new ice cream ranges are delicious and incredibly creamy and the whiskey and marmalade ice cream is certainly a great addition. I originally emailed this review privately to the Waldegrave Arms, East Harptree. No response has been received. I booked a table in advance to have a birthday lunch with some friends and our 4 children at the Waldegrave Arms recently, and I feel compelled to offer a review of our experience. We all agreed that the outdoor eating environment in your garden setting was lovely, we were fortunate to have had good weather and the kids all enjoyed your new play equipment. The staff were friendly, but the service was very very slow; we waited ages for our drinks and about 30mins for our food despite the place being practically empty other than us. 2 small teacups of warm water with tea bags to brew our own tea, which we immediately returned to the bar to exchange for hot water, for £5.60, is extortionate. When the food arrived we couldn't believe how uninspired it was - when you namecheck your French(?) chef "Phillipe" and your veggie curry is priced @£15.95, I hope you will agree it's reasonable that we would expect to receive a pretty decent meal. It was a smaller-than-average size portion with plain white boil-in-the-bag/microwave rice, supermarket mini-naan, microwaved poppadoms, no pickles or dips and of such mildness as to be unrecognisable as a curry of any description. The beef 'madras' was similarly disappointing - mild, dry, flavourless and the meat hadn't been effectively trimmed so ~10% inedible fat. The kids' meals of sausages and chips were strangely not very child focussed - the sausages were fine but the chips were giant wedges and the salad was a fancy leaf affair with raw onion and dressing applied. None of the 4 hungry kids wanted anything other than the sausage.

Nice to come back. New beers, maybe not all as local as I might expect (Cornwall?) but nice nonetheless. Didn't eat but lots of people were, including a large pre-ordered party. Fast free internet but still a way to go after the renovation, we thought. Need to persuade the regulars back, serve first class food and warm up the atmosphere a little, eg lighting the new wood stove would have helped. Wish the new Waldy team well. We'll be back soon to check!

Food was very nice but wouldn’t expect you to charge me £5 for a pot of Mango Chutney after first serving me one with a long black head hair in it? Pretty disgusting but apparently not your fault because nobody who works there has long hair… Poor service and response to my obvious disgust at this which is a shame as I would’ve liked to have returned in the future. Hopefully you can take this feedback constructively for how you treat future customers.

Here are my culinary experiences at Time Out Market Montreal: May 1: Le Blossom, Japanese restaurant. A real discovery! It was a professional lunch and I was super happy. I had a Salmon-Tuna Poké bowl and I fell for a homemade cake, absolutely delicious! It was a real feast! The atmosphere was great and everything was perfect. June 21: I tried Le Campo and its Portuguese chicken, and I visited Le Blossom again. Always so happy to eat there! I recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy themselves and have a good time! July 18: I tested the newcomer, Climats. I had fish and chips and extra fried calamari. I was more than full, lol. Be careful, the portions are generous and super good! September 25: I tried Ibericos, I took the Paela / Patas / drink trio, nothing to say that it's very tasty and good, to make again soon 🥰.
