Lovely fish and chips - the best I have had in the UK. Served by really friendly and welcoming owners.

Not nice. Dry chips, all looked like it at been standing there for some time. all round well below average.

Since writing this review about BFF&C, we have discovered ‘Cod Down F&C’ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ literally just up the road, where the service, the quality, quantity (beware a ‘large’ portion of chips would feed 2 adults, or 3 children easily!) and prices are phenomenal. Definitely worth heading there instead! 15 Upper Bloomfield Road, Odd Down, Bath BA2 2RY. —- Dropped in with my mother, who is a pensioner in her 70's, to pick up supper one eve recently. She offered to treat us so we placed the order and she paid. However, as we left the shop and walked past the window, we saw a very darkly lit blackboard leaning up in the window advertising a weekly 'pensioners' special', which happened to be on the same day of our visit. Having inadvertently ordered precisely the same items, we returned to the shop to explain and request a difference in the price that my mother had paid. She was told that because she hadn't quoted the offer before placing the order, she was not eligible. This dumb-founded us two-fold; firstly that she is very obviously a pensioner and good customer service could have been provided by the server pointing out the offer to her at the time she placed her order and before she paid. Secondly, when we pointed out what we thought was an error on their part, we were told we were too late (albeit 3-minutes)! When we explained our disappointment at this attitude, we were told we should go elsewhere next time! Shame on people who behave in this manner and who believe they are above being honest and providing a basic customer service to those who choose to spend their money supporting their business. As we were told at the time, we will be going elsewhere next time!

We’re Family of five and we’ve tried pretty much all of the fish and chip shops in Bath, we all agree that overall this one is definitely the best. Fish is a good size compared with to others and will also do it without skin.

Absolutely amazing and I couldn't believe how cheap it all was. I kept thinking there must be a mistake with what we was charged for the amount of food we received. Would definitely eat here again if we lived closer

Found a bit of gum at the bottom of my chips. Would be 5 stars but it wasn’t as thoroughly chewed as I would have liked. Still, had minty breath for the rest of the afternoon!

We were served by a very lovely smiley man which made the shop even more welcoming and a place you’d want to go ! The atmosphere was very relaxing and happy! The shop itself was clean tidy and modern and we loved the vibe! The food itself was really nice and not too greasy which is pretty common with fish and chips , the fish was fresh tasting and just overall a nice experience! They even had wooden forks instead of plastic and cardboard carton over polystyrene- which is definitely better for the environment 🐟

Best fish and chips, great value for money.

I’ve eaten fish and chips around the world and this was by far the worst I’ve ever had.I ordered a large cod and chips and some scampi. I should have guessed it would be bad because there was an acrid smell of cheap cooking oil filling the takeaway. The large fish was actually a large piece of nasty tasting batter enclosing a small thin piece of dried up inedible fish. The scampi was very overcooked, like little lumps of dark coloured rocks. Overall, a very nasty experience and a waste of money. I am sorry but it’s true. The chips were just about passable to be fair. So be warned!

Chips are lovely... they are sliced thinner and are softer than other standard chip shops, perfect!

We tried this place the other evening. Fish was great and the batter was crispy. However, the chips were dire. To describe, they were thin and string like and just small bits of potato. I took a picture which I will post on tripadvisor. When you consider a “chippys” main selling point is it’s chips, they have something wrong here.

I’ve been three times, and each one left me disappointed. The service is slow, and bit short at times and the batter isn’t tasty. For a gastro-chippy they need to up their game a little.

Large fish was large.... Large chips though where squeeze into the same box and certainly were not a large portion... If ordering fish and chips don't bother with large chips, you'll get the same with standard given the unwieldy fixed box size

Cooked everything there and then. Which was nice. However had no pies available. And the chips were a let down. Portion sizes pretty small. Average chippy. Staff were very nice though.

bought online a pizza and chips; ham tasted like was stored in broken fridge, chips were definitely reheated, not freshly prepared. summing up, pizza didn't have much in common with italian cuisine. I don't recommend to eat there

Nothing like it used to be back in the 90s. Now they serve bland pizzas and awful chips. You would need to look long-and-hard to find worse chips.
