Best bakery in Glasgow! Ignore Byres Road and Great Western Road. This has delicious cakes and pastries. I highly recommend the custard bun and lotus/red bean paste mochi. Choices for halal and vegetarian, I'm not sure about vegan. Nestled in Chinatown you can get a meal at the restaurant next door and come here for dessert! I don't think they have the same owners but just a suggestion. I usually go to purchase my pastries from there either for breakfast or for birthday parties. They also sell birthday cakes which you can pre-order. Made in classic 90s, 00s and current style. You can get cakes made with fruits or without. I have been going here since I was 6 years old, when the Mandarin/Cantonese School was held at Stow College instead of Kelvin Collage. It was a brilliant atmosphere after school on a Saturday. Nowadays there aren't as many people so if you are looking for privacy you can find it here. There is a fireplace where you can keep warm and the staff are not overly friendly. Truly the best bakery in Glasgow.

This little gem of a place is the best 👌. We went in to get a couple of items to have for after tea. As soon as I saw what they had on offer we just had to buy a whole load of different cakes and buns. What a choice they have. Everything looks amazing 👏. The staff were well attentive. The place was spotless. Will definitely be back for more. Need to try the restaurant as well.😋

This bakery has fly tipped their industrial waste at Hamiltonhill Gardens, this is illegal and should be disposed of at the expense of the business, not at the courtesy of the taxpayer.

We have been regular customers at Wah Kee bakery for many years, I HAVE ASKED the older lady several times whether the buns were vegetarian, she replied that it was!! and no animal product in it..I repeated the question 2 or 3 times and she confirmed it was vegetarian! recently we went there and were served by a younger lady, I asked her again to be on the safe side, she went inside and asked the chef and replied that the buns had pork fat!! (Lard) . This is just to warn that the older lady is dishonest and just want to make profit at all cost! Vegetarians, Vegans and Halal BEWARE!!

I’ve been coming here for at least 15 years, I can remember buying cakes from this little bakery ever since I was a child. This cafe is very comfy and nostalgic to me. The cakes are colourful and pretty, fresh and well priced. I always enjoyed them. Some other reviewers have complained that the designs and flavours aren’t cutting edge enough, but personally I much prefer these traditional Chinese cakes and pastries to all these fiddly new experimental flavours and designs that keep coming out at the moment, thats just my personal preference. If it isn’t broke don’t fix it! The banana mochi is tender and delicious and the strawberry cake is light as a feather. Usually when I come here, the vibe is very chilled out and relaxed. The decor transports me back to my childhood and makes me feel like I’m right back in early 2000s Hong Kong. It’s a charming quiet little cafe that feels very authentically Asian. It’s hard to describe exactly why it’s so nice to sit in here, but if you know, you know :)

Honestly, I felt compelled to write this review about reading Cameron F's review about the bakery. For the record, I've been in Glasgow for 10 years, and have been going to this bakery every other weekend. So I've been to this bakery over a hundred times. I have NEVER had any issues like Cameron F had. It sounds like he just stared at the staff member and expected to be served rather than approaching the counter? (The counter only has space for 1 customer, so if he was there, a customer behind him couldn't have been ushered forward). Maybe next time Cameron should walk towards the counter and pay for his food? I don't know, it's very strange reading what he wrote. Anyway, the bakery is lovely. The buns and cakes are authentic hong kong style (I've been to Hong Kong quite a lot). It is DELICIOUS and the buns are very affordable. Expect to pay about £1.50 for a BIG bun. The service is what you'd expect from a chinese old school outlet. Quick, to the point, accurate. I have never had miscalculations with my money, and the staff are always polite with me and acknowledge me, since I acknowledge them first. So the takeaway is this: Go there for amazing cheap buns. Be polite and acknowledge the staff member when you approach the counter. Pay and leave. It is that easy. I'm not sure what Cameron is on about. Also, I've been to the China Court Bakery - Wah Kee Bakery is way better. It's cheaper and the buns are bigger.

Delicious buns and milk tea. Would go again. Lovely staff that helped translate ingredients in the baking + a useful wee chart on the wall to show what has cream, gluten, etc I recommend the pineapple coconut bun or egg tarts for something sweet and the BBQ pork bun for a savoury snack. Tables to sit in an enjoy or take your treats to go and share with friends. No doubt the best Chinese bakery in Glasgow, friendly and easy to find something delicious to eat. Would definitely go again. FYI cash only

Been here on two separate visits now and both the exact same occurrence with the exact same staff member. Only went again because I felt it may have just been a one time thing and my overthinking. Entered the shop and queued to be served with someone being currently served in front and someone queueing BEHIND me. On both the occasions the lady with red hair served the customer in front of me conscientiously and then when I walk up to be served, I’m completely ignored and the customer BEHIND me is ushered forward and served BEFORE I DO. Both times I make eye contact and question the situation with complete silence as the reply. Even the customers behind me that are being ushered look at me puzzled?? What on damn earth is this service discrimination? I am a young, middle aged British born Chinese professional; well dressed and mannered, no visual aspects that could cause discomfort to some people that may not like tattoos, piercings etc. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever?? This place does not deserve any custom based on this completely unprofessional customer service level - TWICE, not once during a busy period or anything but twice during a time when there’s only a three customers in the store. Exact same situation with the exact same member of staff - disgusting. Better go to China Court Bakery up the road before you fall victim as her next choice.

I don't get to go in to Glasgow often, but when I do and I get up to Chinatown it's always going to be a good day! The strawberry roll cake is delicious, all the buns are delicious and mousse cakes. They used to do a chestnut roll cake which was my ultimate favourite thing - but honestly I've never had anything I don't like. The prices are so good, and everything looks stunning!

Considering that there isn't that much competition from other Chinese bakeries it's a safe bet you will find something you will like here. Sure enough there is lots to buy. We came after lunch, possibly a bad time as a lot stock may have already been bought or sold out. Hopefully next time we can go a bit earlier.

I had chicken breast curry and chips. It deffo didn't taste like chicken and the chips were dead as if the day before. To top it all, I love the crunchy onions you usually get but I found 4 small bits of onion. Deffo won't be back. We used to go here quite a lot but not now.

There is such a variation in the quality of Chinese food in Glasgow and I thought I would give Wokstar a try with no great expectations. However, the taste, quality and cost of their food far exceeds anything I have tried in years. I had heard from others that they were good so I was delighted that it was true….. The vegetable spring rolls are enormous, packed with delicious vegetables and authentic. We had a King Prawn curry, again excellent with some Satay sauce. In essence, this is now my favourite take away in Glasgow.
