Very nice pub with a lot of history. The bar is very small and when people are sitting at the bar there is not much room to get to it. The seating area was scattered around with 3 areas to sit and kind off needs dedicated areas for eating and drinking. The food was good can't complain. One prob we had was that we didn't book beforehand and although they allow walk-ins to sit and eat the waitresses seemed to forget to bring us menus and took them around 15-20 before they realised. Other than that the staff are very nice and the service was good. Food came out in good time.

The perfect pub. It looks like something out of a Charles Dickens novel, because it is featured in a Charles Dickens novel (The Pickwick Papers). From the outside it oozes charm. Sometimes when you go into a pub which has such character from the outside the inside doesn't match. But in this instance it does. So five out of five stars so far. The food, again, excellent - five stars. Had the pie of the day (steak and ale) with vegetables and chips. The pie was the best pie I've ever had, anywhere - I mean just check out the photo of that pie. It was stacked full of flavour too. If I could live in this pub I would. If I could marry this pub I would. If you're wondering if it's worth going to this pub, it is. Well, well worth it. If the main car park is full, there is one just across the street by the way.

5 of us, Sunday lunch., today. Excellent! Food was great, served from the carvery and what really impressed me was how well organised everything was. We booked for 12 noon and the place was packed but because they tell you when to go to the carvery to select your food (all freshly sliced in front of you and piping hot, including a vast array of vegetables), there’s no queuing or waiting. Really efficient and easy. Staff were lovely and smiling, like they actually wanted to be there We were in and out in an hour which was perfect for the day we had planned If you wanted to linger, that would have been fine too in nice pub surroundings and a pleasant atmosphere

This is a quaint thatched pub that dates back to 1669 I believe. It looks so pretty from the front and doesn't disappoint when entering it. Everywhere you look there is old artifacts and pictures showing its past and history. It almost transports you you to another time and it's magical. Log fires and a very interesting bar with such an array of interesting things I can only urge you to go and see your self. The food is 👌🏻.........we have been a couple of times now and the long drive for us is well worth the lovely food and the ambience of the whole experience. We really like it. Dogs are welcome 😁 inside and there is a covered seating area outside for those warmer days.tgere is a small car park at the back, parking at the front and across the road. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and professional. Accessible for the not so steady on their feet and there are accessible toilets available. All in all it's excellent 👍🏻 value for money in a rustic historic setting in a beautiful part of the world and we love it.

Not remotely friendly or welcoming, £9.50 for a meanly filled baked potato with basic beans & cheese with my pint. Nothing special and should be priced that way. Also no soya milk or coconut milk offered with coffee “because no one buys it, so it all goes off”. Pathetic. I’ve known this pub for decades but it’s amazing how uncaring, lazy and miserable these people are. Get some more professional people in who know how to smile -and do it fast.

A lovely old English pub, we chose this location to have a family get together and Sunday carvery roast. We are in a room at the front of the property and the setting and decor was traditional and very clean. The staff were pleasant and helpful but just lacked any genuine warmth, possibly because two of our party of eight had been unable to attend at the last moment and they appeared slightly irritated that we had not let them know in advance. In fact I had tried to contact them before we left home, but as it was two hours earlier they weren’t yet open. The food was plentiful and well cooked. There was a choice of three meats and a nut roast for vegans. In our house we season our food so I found it a bit bland, but if you don’t use salt in your cooking it will be fine. Two of our party chose the nut roast and this was probably the biggest disappointment of the selection, as neither nut roast was eaten, suffering from the same lack of flavour as much of the other food. Would we go back? Probably not, but if you don’t touch salt or herbs, this may be very much to your liking.

The restaurant is a very nice, cozy, and quaint spot, perfect for a comfortable dining experience. The eclectic decor adds a unique charm, making it a visually appealing place to enjoy a meal. However, one aspect that detracted from our experience was a server who stomped her feet loudly as she moved between dining rooms. Her heavy steps, akin to concrete, were quite distracting and gave the impression of anger or frustration. It's worth noting that she was nice and efficient, but her loud foot stomping was very distracting. Despite this, the food was excellent—affordable, tasty, and served in more than generous portions. Overall, it's a great place to dine, with just a minor service issue that hopefully gets addressed.

In fact the ingredients included some salmon in a white sauce topped with mashed potato. I think this shows a real lack of respect for the customer. Nice place to go out with or meet up with people. Unfortunately won't be returning due to their high prices £5.10 for a pint of Carling. REALLY???? No disrespect meant but I won't pay that. I'm aware that the owners are now moving onto the Courthouse around the corner. I said in my review of the Courthouse that if your prices is anything to go by, then the chance that I give the Courthouse will be short lived. £5.10 for a pint of Carling is far too much.
