Wagamama in Norwich

Brilliant night here with friends, all the food was outstanding; the hot honey chicken teriyaki is probably now my favourite dish in the world! The staff were so lovely, superb service from our main waitress Frankie who had great knowledge of the food and recommended dishes to our taste, also the waitress Vic was very sweet and the manager Elliot was very welcoming and overall must be doing a great job as I couldn’t fault anything. Can’t wait to return!

I visited this Wagama's branch for the first time as I was taking the family out in riverside for the day. The food was great as always but the service was remarkably poor. Our table was much of an afterthought and our waitress made mistakes on our bill. We ordered proper drinks and asked for water for the table and the waitress sent out premium bottled water twice. coming up to £10 for water but by the time i noticed I'd already paid the bill. Explained this to the supervisor and was told I'd get a refund but having looked now I was only refunded for 1 of the bottles, not 2. This was a very poor experience for me and I won't be returning to this branch.

Always come here with my partner, the best service from Bobbi as usual. She always ensures we have the best experience here! The food and drink came out quickly and was very delicious and filling.

I was persuaded to go to Wagamama for lunch today by the kids. Ok, it was pretty good. The squid balls were my favourite. Didn’t even know they had balls. Good effort This is a good place for clear plates. The table next to us was complaining about the air con being so cold. We just ate more to stay warm. Winner winner chicken noodles for dinner and lunch

Went in for a family meal on what we thought was a nice sunny Saturday afternoon. We had server Bobbie. At this point the day went south quickly. We ordered a few drinks, 1 kiddy katsu curry and three mains ( all the same meal ) along with two sides. We first get served our drinks, but not all came out. Had to ask for it again. Then we got a side ( I’m well aware that food can come out at separate times ), then meal number 1, kiddy katsu. Finally the last of our drinks arrive. We have an idea that something would go wrong by the way Bobbie took our order. Then we get two of the three meals and sides. The family are tucking in nicely and I’m left drooling, waiting. In that time the servers came out with a chilli squid three times ( not ours. Just no idea where to take things ). I’ve waited ages now for my meal and the family have wrapped up theirs. Not great I’m thinking. So I leave the table and approach the manager indoors, because by this time I feel I need to be compensated for wasting my time. I get offered a free drink and removal of paying for the meal I didn’t receive. ( unsure how they really expected me to pay for it in all honesty ). No nothing else, just a sorry and some old chat. I really did look forward to this meal. I have eaten here so many times in the past, but today felt unnecessary. Just poor ethics and staffing. Very unsatisfactory.

Cold food from being under the air con at full blast despite being asked to move or have the air con turned off they continued to blast us with ice cold air freezing our food in minutes. £40+ wasted and ruined an evening out all because the manager refused to help.

I order from Wagamama at least three times a month and I always go for the same thing what I have noticed is the Wagamama on Chapel field it’s much better at serving, when I order from the Wagamama on the Riverside the portion is off, the curry’s dishes comes always dry with almost no sauce, it’s mostly rice, today I paid for extra prawn and I could barely see it, there’s barely no food. (I should have taken a picture) It wasn’t always like this but this is the 3rd or 4th time in a row this has happened. What a disappointment not spending my hard earned money there never again

Really good experience this evening. Chicken udon and the banan katsu on the menu were delicious! Good beer choice but sadly no espresso. Also great service from lovely Monica 😊😊 she was very patient with us explaining the items on the menu

Me and my wife came in for a meal, our first night out together since 2019! We were first seated under the air con but it was so cold we asked to move. The manager/deputy moved us kindly but because it was fairly busy our only other location was one table to the right. It was freezing and blowing the menus about it was on so high, I spoke to the manager again and he said he would turn it off for us. Great we thought, then just as the food arrived someone switched it back on again. I'm not kidding within 2-3 minutes our food was ice cold to the touch. I called the manager over and he said he can't turn it off it's too hot. It wasn't, it's early April in the evening, it's not the Summer. In the end we had to rush our cold food, pay £32 and leave. I mean it's a pain in the arse but it's their loss as we won't go again and I'm leaving this review. P.s The new server Alex was the only good thing about our visit.

Mixed. I’ve had some great food here, but I’ve also been given gluten (despite saying coeliac when ordering) - was replaced, but has left me really mistrustful. It gets quite busy too, so expect a long wait at peak times.

A decent Asian cuisine. But, nothing extraordinary. I've been here loads, but standing in line..EVERYTIME.. is always a drag. This time, I fancied some Pad Thai, had to really search for actual rice noodles in that! The Gyoza ramen was tasty though. Ordered a mini yasai katsu curry meal for the kid, but she wasn't happy with that. And the service? A bit of mess. Ice cream first (despite asking to serve it at the end), then juice, then Kimchi (what do I do with that when I haven't even got my main course yet)...and finally, the main dish a good 15 minutes later. By then, my kid didn't want to eat anything at all. Honestly, it was an okay meal, but Wagamama's not really my thing, especially after trying it at a half a dozen different spots.

Been in here twice now and never again. First time, the Katsu curry wasn’t great - vegetable chunks were cut far too thick and clearly hadn’t been boiled before being battered, just raw battered sweet potatoes. Food got served before drinks. Second time, my friend’s chicken ramen was forgotten about (arrived approx 10 mins after I had finished eating) and I had to get up and ask about the order because the servers were so inattentive, not even an apology. Avoid! Need to retrain their chefs and their waiters, chicken overcooked and wok fried greens flavourless.

Food was good, standard wagamama. The service was slow front the waiter team and clearly a inexperienced team of youngsters, lots of walking around and not really doing anything to manage their tables.

Friendly service throughout the meal. However, having ordered 4 meals they all came out at vastly different times. After the third meal came out (probably fifteen minutes after the second) we were told there was a problem with the noodle section, which the last two meals were for. The fourth meal we were told would be slightly longer due to the problem in the kitchen, though would be taken off the bill. Fair enough though when that one came we were glad it was free as it wasn't the best. Not sure where the vegetables were on the plate with it being vegan Pad Thai. Been two different places now and not sure we'll be going back. Lack of other food (meat/veg) in meals which seem to be dominated by noodles. Maybe that's how it's meant to be though to us there needs to be a balance.

Wish i could give zero stars for service. We are regulars at wagamama chantry place and it is our go to eating place. We usually visit at least three times a week because we love the food and the service. Today there was a queue outside the place so we decided to visit the Riverside one. Worst experience ever. The food was not as good, the service was wayyy worse. First they got an order wrong, they tried to charge us for their mistake. And the worst bit is they were the least apologetic for ruining our experience. There was this back and forth that didn't need to happen. Getting an order right is literally the restaurant's job. After telling them that we didn't like the service, the only response they could come up with was 'okay'. Not one apology. There were 3 people dealing with us, including the manager and not one of them had any sense of how an unhappy customer should be dealt with. Or maybe they were racists. All in all, a very poor experience.

The food was okay! I love wagamama chantry place one. This one was pathetic. Taste was just so different. Ans the manager was so rude and super unhelpful . The lady took the wrong order and then when i tried correcting it, she said there would be an extra charge . I said no fix this plz ! But even then they added extra charges in the bill. I asked about pure gym discount, she didn’t even give me that. She said there was something going on with the system. AND WHEN I PAID THE BILL, I ASKED THE GUY THAT I DID NOT LIKE THE SERVICE HE SAID “OKAY” Not even a single sorry. Such a pathetic service. Wagamama chapelfield is soooooo better. They give best service. I suggest hire some of their staff. Masao is so helpful there. Thanks. I hope you’ll get back to me

The food is good but a bit expensive. Waited half an hour for the staff member to approach us and take our order, not great.

I've been to Wagamama many times, and I've not been disappointed. Food was Curry Katsu this time, and the Mrs loved it. First time bringing the kids, they're not yet used to noodles in broth but it was nice. I love the ambience at this particular spot.

I had called in advance to see if they would let me book a table as there was a big group of us for my birthday. They said booking would be a good idea, so we did. My friend who brought a cake even called the restaurant to discuss bringing the cake. When we arrived they didn't know anything about the booking!! Thankfully we still got a table.

Sorry, but the meal was awful. A very expdnsive huge bowl of over cooked rice with barely any chicken. Very disappointed.

Food is awful. I got a chicken and rice main, the chicken was unevenly cooked, half was cooked the other raw. When I raised a complaint I was interrupted by the server who stated, "The chicken is pink because of the marinade"...a person with any shred of competency knows the difference between cooked and uncooked chicken. The chicken was also stone cold when it arrive (despite waiting a long time for it). Will not be wasting my money here again, and instead go somewhere where they can at a minimum cook chicken thoroughly.

Violet, she was astounding. from the get go she met us with a beaming smile. Amazing menu knowledge and so accommodating to our needs. She should be a manager she was so amazing

Went here for dinner with a friend just over a week ago. Food was incredible and came out fresh and hot. Service was great by all members of staff we encountered. After dinner, we went to see the new Saw movie at which I passed out within the first 15 minutes and then 20 minutes later, I vomited up half of my lovely food in the cinema restroom (not from poisoning I should add, just from the shear lack of judgement that I could sit through a movie like Saw X lol) Tasted just as good on the way back up hence the 5 star review.

Shocking. Sent a Chicken and Prawn Yaki-Soba via deliveroo. No chicken at all and two prawns. Deliveroo won't refund as it's a ‘standard of food’ issue and Riverside can't do anything as the money goes through Deliveroo. Clever system!

Boring food, a lot not available. Like a Maccas version of Japanese/ Korean food but a lot more expensive

Food was absolutely amazing! Me and my girlfriend both had the katsu which you can never go wrong with. Fast service. Special shout out to the young man Kaine, rushing around clearing tables taking orders sorting out problems whilst others are just standing there! I don’t like to be ageist but for a young lad to manage and have an overview of the restaurant left me and my girlfriend impressed. Will be coming back!

Food and service was amazing. Perfect delivery of words and information from our waiter (Isla) and food came out promptly yet in perfect condition, temperature and taste. Delightful experience, 10/10.

In my opinion, this wagamama is way better than the one near chantry place, consistent food but there is one problem. The customer service of the Indian lady was pretty upsetting. We are the regular here, and as always, we like to order 1 starter and 2 main courses for each of us. When she took our order, she keep judging that we are over- ordering. I understand she try to warn us for having too much food but warning us once is more than enough. You don't need to keep repeating that. Please stop judging.

It was super busy but staff were fantastic and saw to customers really quickly, we were still seated in no time and the food was still to a great standard. Special shout out to Amelia who was extremely friendly, professional and helped with issues on the app. Made sure we were happy and content from start to finish, she is an absolute credit to the team! overall it seems that the staff team here are much happier than previous times, so not sure whether there has been a change in management? If there has keep it that way, and get Amelia to train the servers :)

*An absolute shambolic rip off* Popped in for a late bite to eat with the partner after discovering that the two best kebab houses were closed down prince of wales from 7.30. Our experience was a shambles. pork belly bun starter (£7.50) was the equivalent of half a mouth full of food each and smothered in chilli sauce when it states "with crispy panko-coated apple sriracha + vegan mayo" (no mayo or apple what so ever) - I love chilli and I love a kick in food but this just does not work at all and has been very poorly advertised on the menu. Upon trying these our mouths were on fire, it felt like the chef had played a really bad prank on us. Our palates had no chance of tasting the delicate flavours of the crisp sized piece of pork belly filling. We then ordered 2 duck bonaris as a main.. These arrived in the shape of two dishes full or rice with a sprinkle of grated carrot, spring onion and shredded duck on top. (£18 each) what planet are these people on? Despite all this and complaining we were still charged for both starters, drinks and one of the bonaris. £31 on a bowel of rice with a couple of drinks - absolutely disgraceful and we feel robbed. Should have got a special fried rice from the Chinese! I'd rather put pins in my eyes than waist another penny in wagamamas.

Went with a baby and so helpful. Staff were entertaining so we could finally eat. Quick service and all the food available. Had a few things we couldn't eat so we're offered to have them to take away. Kids colouring and also a handful kids menu. So very handy to have so we didn't have to try and give some of our spicy food Very impressed

I’d be partial to a Wagamamas at the worst of times, but our experience here was uniquely pleasant. Despite a large queue going out the door, we were seated and served very quickly by Warren, who placed us on the end of a bench with enough privacy to feel comfortable - but enough company close by to feel involved in the atmosphere. Food was great, ordering was effortless, but that’s standard fare in my personal opinion for any wagas- what made this different was the care of the staff. Good show!

Was very pleased with my meal and the service. The decor is very nice and the pricing was good value for what I had. The food is brought to you the moment it's ready so my son and I received our food at different times which actually worked OK because he got his first but I'm a quicker eater. Would definitely go again

Wagamamas without the queue. If you love the food but not the crowded atmosphere of Chantry Place, come here. Same food and service with a more relaxed vibe.

The ambience and Wagamama is vibrant and energetic with its Morden decor and open kitchen concept. The staff members are welcoming and attentive . The thing I like about Wagamama was that the food tasted fresh. Top marks for the presentation. The food is also rich, flavourful and cooked to perfection. Would definitely be back here to try more dishes. A must visit for Japanese cuisine lovers.

Lunch with a friend last Thursday. First time trying Wagamama. Loved the noodles I had. My friend has a food intolerance, and they took this very seriously. Staff were awesome, especially the manager. Loved the vibe, plus very reasonable prices.

What a beautiful space! The food was great, service outstanding. Never had any service as well coordinated and fast as this in Norwich...some restaurants could take some notes. We felt welcomed, the service was fast and I was very impressed. Will be going again for sure.

Love to see a second location opening up in Norwich. I love this new location and the inside and outside is so beautifully decorated. The food is so good and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Just had a very poor experience with Wagamamas takeaway. They didn’t have one if he dishes we ordered but didn’t say until we were in the restaurant to pick up. No apology and careless attitude. When we got home we were missing 3 of 4 salad sides. Food was soggy and lukewarm. I would go to the Chapelfield restaurant instead in the future.

We had dinner here last night for my girlfriends 30th birthday and from moment we arrived the staff were amazing, very accommodating to all of our needs and extremely helpful. Combining this with delicious food and a lovely atmosphere means we all had fantastic evening, I cannot wait to return!!

the waiter sits while taking your order, rude, puts the spoon on the dirty table without a napkin. poor quallity food, no alchohol taste in the cocktails. Worst place ever been to in my life.

Love what they serve here. I was disappointed, however, that their juice machine was out of action Saturday evening :-( . I had been looking forward to a power juice all week.

We decided to visit on a Saturday night for dinner cos we’ve heard a lot about Wagamama. We were seated almost immediately. I was having trouble deciding on what to order as it was my first time there. Called on a server and she did her best to explain the various dishes. The server asked our preferences and she was able to recommend some dishes. We went with her recommendations and it turned out pretty great. We enjoyed the spiciness of the firecracker and the marinade of the chicken something. The food was cooked well and well spiced. I enjoyed it all. The staff were friendly and welcoming. And the server who took time to walk us through the menu is a star! I love the layout of the venue and the ambience is classy yet approachable.

Visited on a Wednesday during lunch time. Which wasn't overly busy. We were seated straight away. But unfortunately we quickly got forgotten about. Tables were being cleared behind us and the staff were constantly walking by but no one took a drinks or food order. But other customers were being looked after. It wasn't until another customer on a different table spoke to staff and pointed at our table (assuming she was telling them we needed serving) that someone finally came back over. I was going to try and grab a member of staff but I didn't feel like I should be doing that for someone to have taken our order. Everything was great after this and the food was fantastic so cannot give any complaints about the food. But once again when we wanted to pay we were missed. We couldn't even pay via the QR code because we werent given a table number. Staff kept walking by and setting up other tables and going to other customers and customers who even came in after us were able to pay and leave. It wasn't until I went up to someone that we were able to pay which I felt pretty ashamed doing. What made it worse was seeing the staff talking to eachother on the bar while we were waiting to be served. I'm not normally one to complain but I really was mot happy with the service provided, especially as it has just opened

Not sure why other reviews say that service was "amazing" because it was appalling. Ok, it was was towards the end of the day, but we waited ages (about 10-15mins) to be served when it wasn't busy at all! Waiters (at least 2) were just floating about, not paying attention to customers at all. I ordered a donburi and my rice was undercooked and my "tea stained egg" wasn't stained at all, bland in fact! Would not be coming back to this branch again!
