Viva Cuba in Leeds

Fantastic place to eat. The service was exceptionally good and the food was beautiful as always. We ordered far too much as usual but it was all placed in containers for us to take home after. Would highly recommended if you like tapas.

Went tonight for our 10 year wedding anniversary with no kids, had 7 separate plates of food, deserts too. Top notch!

Food could be better - perhaps a little more flavourful. Still very thankful for the free dessert with a candle for our birthday celebration!

Always have a lovely time here, decent selection of veggie and vegan food. Nice drinks. Friendly staff.

Booked a Tuesday night for daughters birthday. Place was very busy and a great atmosphere. The fact it was busy meant having to distract staff to order drinks (usually protocol to take a drinks order ?). Ordered a selection of Tapas which were overall decent quality - the ribs probably the stand out dish for me , falling off bone. The waitresses were very friendly but the service was just too slow - they apologised and said it was busy so a delay with the food……… we waited far too long for what are pre prepared tapas dish’s. My daughter had left by the time they asked about complimentary desert but gave us to take home which was a nice touch. Having checked the bill when home noticed a Caipirinha cocktail added ??? No one ordered nor had one. I phoned them and they dealt with quickly and efficiently and refunded me for the rogue drink - but I’m always suspicious of this as how many go unspotted and paid. Good: Waitresses excellent and buzzing atmosphere. Bad: Service was just too slow. Food was ok but overall a disappointing meal considering wait time, delays and rogue drink added so won’t be rushing back.

Fabulous little Cuban restaurant. It was busy so book a table if you are going at peak time. Decor was in character. Lovely selection of tapas dishes. We chose 2 mains, a veg, potato and rice and it was plenty for 2. Alhambra beer on draught is good. Waitresses were there when we needed them. We would definitely go again.

Went to visit Viva Cuba recently after seeing some of the positive reviews. So glad we made the trip. We were struggling to find a decent Tapas/South American restaurant which also had some Veg options in the city centre, but Viva Cuba had plenty for everyone. The food did take a while to arrive to our table, it was a Saturday night but was worth the wait. The portions are generous, lots of variety including seafood and vegetarian and all very tasty. We did over order but now I know 2-3 dishes per person are plenty and you can share. The venue itself is really nice, the music and decor fitting In with the South American vibes. Will definitely return. And hopefully we can see some veg burritos or enchiladas on the menu too.

We’ve found this little gem, unassuming from the outside but lovely interior. Tapas and cocktails were all delicious and generous portions.

Amazing atmosphere and decor, friendly and quick service, and insanely good food. Tapas classics and loads more we weren't used to seeing at tapas places, all top quality and amazing value for money. Nice big portions. One of the guys is a vegan and enjoyed his options.

Lovely atmosphere food was nice and filling

Awful. Awful. Awful. The food was greasy and laden with oil. The staff were inattentive, everyone seemed to be stood around too busy looking at laptops rather than focussing on the customers.

Great food moderately priced. We had a wonderful evening with friends and family. The food was great, lots of choices and good portion sizes for a tapas menu. Will definitely go back again. We were a group of 10, but can’t fault the service. Everyone was prompt and very friendly staff

Viva Cuba never fails to deliver. Good drinks, great atmosphere, amazing food of all different varieties. We took the set menu and had enough food to feed an army. Leftovers were fab the next day!! Thank you!!

We came as a group of 9 for a birthday, we had the private dining area. Service was good food was amazing and all came out at same time. The price is good for the amount of food and drinks we had. Definitely will be returning.

Good food and drinks. Unfortunately I had found 1 hair in the tacos and 1 hair in the patatas bravas, which put me off from eating. 1-2 hairs too many for me. Overall, it was good food and nice vibes. Liked the dessert

First visit, was a little worried as we hadn't booked. But a lovely welcome and we were offered a table for a good hour and half, having arrived at about 5.30pm. Really helpful advice about portion sizes from the Manager, very plesant waitress. Great selection of tapas, very reasonable prices specials on the board as well. Drink and food arrived in good time, Sangria was lovely and fruity. The food was outstanding hot, delicious and very well presented. All of the staff asked about the food which was really nice as we tested everything. When we asked for the bill the Manager again was absolutely delightful, genuinely pleased that we had such a nice visit. We will definitely be back, will book next time to be sure we have a seat as it's so good. Many many thanks all.

The restaurant was busy but not heaving, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent. The portions are generous with a selection that suited everyone in our group.

Very enjoyable evening at Viva Cuba. There were 7 in our party and we had a large table in an area to ourselves. Best Cuban Tapas I have ever had. Good friendly service, too.

First time here with my family well what an absolute treat, the food absolutely delicious, portion sizes fantastic, the service excellent. A huge thanks too to James the Manager for taking care of us and making us laugh🙂 I would definitely recommend this restaurant, well done everyone ❤️❤️ xx

Came here tonight. This is a lovely restaurant all the staff are friendly the service from ordering to table was brilliant every dish we had was fresh and ever so tasty. Plus perfect portion sizes. I Had plantain crisps to pick at then the amazing meatballs along with patatas bravas. Partner had Tomato and garlic bread followed by patatas aioli, grilled hallumi with a green and red dip (forgot what it's called) and a super fresh mixed salad. Will definitely recommend Viva Cuba to anyone wanting authentic tapas. Thanks to all staff for a lovely evening.

Went on a busy Saturday night,the food was running late,as they were very busy and we were offered a free round of drink because of this,we accepted the drinks then the food came.. all fantastic food ...

Lovely setting for a meal out and what an amazing meal, wonderful selection of dishes for every palate. Staff are so friendly and helpful.

We tried this place for the first time recently. Overall the food was good, with the notable exception of the Chorizo. I'm not sure how they managed to make it feel so soft to the point of disintegration. Everything else was tasty. Portion sizes are very good and as I'm sure most people coming here for the first time have done we over ordered. The main let down for me was the atmosphere, the interior feels a bit dated and cheap and the tables weren't big enough for 2 with food drinks on them. We did have a nice time and we would eat here again. Hopefully a bit of updating to the decor is on the cards.

Food & atmosphere excellent. Service a tad slow but that doesn't detract from a great night out. Table of 6 and two dishes each was ample (+ a couple of cheeky ones). Every dish was excellent. I could recommend loads but the ribs stand out Highly recommended and will be back.

Shown straight to our table which has never happen in the last 15yrs! Told food would be an hour min so ordered a starter. . Roll on 40mins, food out but missing 2 dishes! They never came.. So when paying the bill, the manager (Nathan) said, yes we’ll take this off the bill, which was nice because we didn’t get paid them! I expressed disappointment at not getting the food we actually ordered as he tutted & said to the young lady at the till, take 5% off. It was a shocking service & I will try anywhere else but here.

Viva Cuba is consistently superb. The food portions are huge for the price and everything is absolutely delicious (especially the meatballs & enchiladas). We always end up over-ordering but they are happy to let you take the extras away for later! The staff are really friendly and the beer & cocktail range is great too.

best tapas in leeds, best value for money

First-time trying this place for a friend's birthday. Would not recommend, although the waiter that served us, Sanjay, was great, the rest of the experience was not. Food was below average and other staff members were rude and unpleasant. My friend asked a worker, a blonde haired man, to take a picture but he said he was too 'busy'. Very unprofessional, was holding hands with another worker and massaging her shoulders. This lady, with short brown hair was also very unpleasant. Not a nice place. I hope management look into these two individuals.

Can't beat it, everything was delicious!

First visit for a couple of years, food still spot on, however service wise felt really rushed as if they wanted us finished and out asap.

Great little place, we went there for a birthday with a group of 16, we had the mezzanine floor all to ourselves. We also had a guest with a peanut allergy which the staff accommodated for. The food all came out together and there was plenty of it, enough for a couple of doggy bags to take home. We've had good feedback from the guests aboutbour visit and will obviously be back again in the future.

I've ordered the same three dishes each time and the flavour varies. I don't know if it's just who is preparing but every now and then you've got to add a LOT of salt.

Possible out favourite place to eat in Leeds. The food is fantastic with so much choice. Should be no problem catering for fussy eaters in a group. Staff are friendly and the places has a lovely feel to it. Parking just over the road in Cardigan Fields. Totally recommend.

Disappointing - long wait for food (over an hour after we arrived), food wasn’t great when it did show up, majority of service was emotionless and made us feel uncomfortable.

Shadow of its former self, one good tapas dish the rest not so

I am a simple person who uses a standard baseline to gauge the quality of the restaurant, so a mid week visit to a restaurant is always a good test. Firstly the staff were amazing and even served the food wearing black fabric gloves, but a restaurant is more than just the staff. It is also about the food and the space. First the space, it did not wow me. It was a converted ex-bank so it wasn't the biggest space, but we had the luxury of eating in the old vault area which was nice however as a whole the place has gone for a rustic cuban look. Honestly it looks tired and thrown together. That might have been the aim, but did not work for me. Tables are too small when you have loads of tapas bowls/plates, there's hardly enough room for your plate and drink. Now for the food. As I said I have a simple baseline for anywhere that says they serve 'de la mar' food...can they cook calamari without making it rubbery. They failed. It was like eating rubber bands. I know it might be slightly harsh, but it's my personal opinion. Also whilst I am on it, should chorizo be squishy? It was squishy, soft and fell to pieces in your mouth, I cannot explain how they made a solid sausage into a semi liquid? How? Look, for all the critiques it was not too bad. The party as a whole had a great time. No one left hungry and to be honest we might have ordered too much... Oops 😬. If you're in the area it is worth checking out.

First time visit to viva cuba and it was very nice,welcoming the staff were very helpfull in giving you ideas on what to order,the food dishes were a very good size and really enjoyable,i would definitely come back to viva cuba..parking is free across the road in the retail park cardigan fields but just be careful how long you park for.overall would say the dishes are plentiful and not too expensive and the Alambra beer was very nice.thank you for a very enjoyable night and will come back again.

Fantastic number of tasty vegetarian options, including plenty that is also gluten-free. The kids also love Cuban tapas, so it's a win all round. We've been coming for years and this is the first time I've had the Pan de España. OMG, amazing! Drooling just thinking about it 😂

It was okay. The food order was wrong but the waiting staff were so nice I didn't want to complain. The food itself was mediocre but for a tapas restaurant the portion sizes were quite good. It unfortunately wasn't a place that made me go wow.

Having dinner here was an amazing experience! The atmosphere is cosy and relaxing, all staff is friendly and professional, the portion is very generous for tapas, and everything I ordered tastes excellent! On top if it, food and drinks all are reasonably priced. I love this restaurant most in Kirkstall.

Instantly greeted with warmth, had a latecomer but the staff weren’t pushy with ordering. Eventually ordered and food was very tasty, especially the pork ribs in honey and lamb stew. Very generous portions too, will definitely be taking many people back here.

This is the best tapas place around reasonably priced and outstanding quality food

Been here several times, both as a small and a large group. Service is pretty rapid even in a larger group, both for drinks and the food itself. Portion sizes vary a lot between each tapa, and are on the generous side, particularly for anything involving potatoes. My favourite dish is the pork ribs, which are tender and sweet. It's been very busy every time I've gone here, which is great to see!

Seriously tasty food, I got the piri chicken, pork enchiladas and paella. I’d recommend the first two the most. Tastiest food I’ve had in leeds tbh and amazing prices. I ordered takeaway but the atmosphere is really nice so think I’d eat in next time. And the lager on tap is very tasty. Friendly staff aswell. If you order online for collection I’d recommend calling after just to confirm your order went through to avoid any confusion.

This is an amazing Cuban restaurant with very kind personnel and a great amount of food for the money you pay ratio. You really feel welcomed and during the night they’re extremely kind in their service. Thank you for the hospitality and the guidance picking the food! The little take away boxes were incredible as well! Highly recommend to eat here if you’re around Leeds.

Absolutely beautiful food. Generous portions (we had the set menu for 4). Great service. Plenty of free parking in the leisure complex right opposite (no height restrictions - went in my campervan!) We'll be back! Highly recommended!

This is an excellent venue if you've never tried it, treat yourself, you wont be disappointed.

Wonderfully tasty and generous portions for tapas. The staff are so friendly and attentive without interrupting. We went as family group and had a great time with lots food to take home. The only downside was it's quite a buzzy atmosphere with load music playing, that's fine if you've got good hearing but definitely too loud for the slightly older family, we should have asked for the volume to be turned down, our bad!

The food here is amazing. Tapas of generous portions, always cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is cosy with dim lighting. This is one of our favourite restaurants.

Reliable, affordable, Leeds purveyor of decent tapas in a nice, quirky, dim, unpretentious 'old bank' setting with sudued Cuban mood music. Busier with more buzz at weekends, there is nearly always a good atmosphere. If you're fussy, the tables could be cleaner and they are overly keen about teenagers having a drink with their food! Don't expect posh or expensive

Lovely tapas with a wide range to choose from. Every dish we had was lovely and tasty. Service was great and there is a wide choice of drinks as well. Only issue I had was that all the dishes were brought out at once, would have preferred them to have been staggered as it felt a bit rushed.

Like stepping into another world. Once you're inside, you forget you're on Kirkstall road in Leeds. Food is always delicious, speedy and has so much variety. The drinks are great too. Always a fun night out to take out of towners to.

Authentic Cuban food with a good variety menu. Easy to share and good value as you can get a few tapas to split. I could eat the plantain chips every day. Wouldn’t order the fish cakes again as they didn’t taste like fish at all but more like potato cakes.
