La Vina - Leeds in Leeds

Visited yesterday during a shopping day out with my daughter. We have never been before but was on my daughters list of placed to eat. We had booked a table for 3pm and was shocked how busy the restaurant was at that time. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, the staff were so attentive but not in a uncomfortable way. We had a cocktail which was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. We both had a starter and a main. My main was tortellini with spinach and ricotta and I can honestly say it's the best tasting pasta dish I have ever had. Cooked to perfection and piping hot. If this restaurant was available in my home town I would be a frequent visitor. I would urge anyone to visit this beatiful restaurant.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Leeds , l was accompanied by my daughter for a pre Christmas catch up, the food is always good and the 2 gentleman waiters were excellent but it was let down by a female waitress with a ponytail who I found to be arrogant from the start,she could see we needed her attention and completely ignored us, we’ve been to San Carlo’s many times and will continue to do so,l just hope we don’t get the same waitress…

Sadly had an awful experience. I got food poisoning from my meal, ended up very poorly as a consequence and rang to let them know in case it might help anyone else (might of been a bad batch of seafood etc) they couldn’t have been less interested and no apology. Emailed to complain about how I’d been treated when I rang to let them know and got ignored. Really gutted as it seemed like such a lovely restaurant.

The sirloin steak with the garlic butter were honestly tasteless. The garlic bread was flavourless and dry. AND the coke they served was only 200ml!! Service and vibes were good though 🤙🏻

Delicious Italian food, excellent service and nice atmosphere. I tried the eggplant pasta it was simple but tasty.

Food was lovely, we had beef carpaccio to start, not massive but good quality. The mains came too quickly tbh but again excellent quality and very flavourful ( lemon sole fillets with garlic and asparagus and monkfish fillets in a tomato and cream sauce ) . Coffee was good and rose pinot grigio was also very nice if a bit over priced in my view. Overall s good experience and I would revisit .

We had a lovely time dining at San Carlo in Leeds for our first time, celebrating a special birthday! We will definitely be visiting again & recommending to friends! The atmosphere, cuisine & service was absolutely amazing! Thank you San Carlo Leeds for such a lovely time & a memorable evening!

We went as a large group of 20+ on a Monday evening in November. Fairly busy, but getting the negative point out of the way, the staff were lacking, and I felt they were understaffed. It was an age before they asked for drinks, and we even had to wait to pay the bill. Now to the positives. The food was great. We pre-ordered, and everything was delicious and as ordered. Would recommend, but probably not early, week night.

I had the mixed grill, which came with steak, chicken, a lamb cutlet and sausage. I felt that for the price, although everything was tasty enough, it wasn't much of a portion. It could have also done with an extra sauce included as it was served with a thin and oily pouring sauce but not any of your typical steak accompaniments. I wish I'd ordered a pizza as they looked much better value for money. Service was prompt and friendly and it was a nice atmosphere.

Lovely food prawns to start and ravioli pasta 🦞 was divine.

We had a lovely evening starting with a cocktail at the bar. Possibly the best Old Fashioned we’ve had to date! Great atmosphere. Great food and then another cocktail at the bar before we called it a night. What an amazing team!! Would highly recommend. Thank you all!! ❤️

Was in here last week for a leaving do with people from work. Wasn't impressed, somewhat over-rated. £20 for porcini ravioli that was Luke warm and had very little cream sauce. £10 for a non-alcoholic drink, essentially elderflower poured out of a bottle, more expensive than a glass of wine! My friends saltimbocca was dry and not very well presented and another's breaded chicken was dry. Definitely not fine dining. I won't be back and don't recommend it. Paid £40 for a slice of tomato garlic bread, a slice of overcooked burnt garlic bread, three pieces of ravioli, non alcoholic drink and a decaf coffee. I don't mind paying money but galls me when what I'm paying doesn't live up to standards.

The prettiest restaurant, but was made amazing by the waiting staff. The managers were a delight.Carmelo and Angelo were so so fun to be around. Felt like I was on holiday with the vibes. Top service. And really nice prawns

San Carlo has a very interesting menu with a lot of different kinds of Italian starters and pizza, pasta and traditional dishes for the main course. After all of that there is the possibility of a very nicely presented dessert, which I do not always do, but here it was excellent. I like to finish with coffee and a liqueur, and the Italian grappa is a nice alternative available here in several varieties. Of these one can of course only have one, and Grappa San Carlo seemed good value. And the restaurant is a good place into which to go when starting to find the streets tiring after a morning of shopping!

I was recommended to go here by a friend and I'm so glad she did as the food and service was excellent. I took my mum for her birthday and they even brought a small cake out for her which we weren't expecting. The food & wine was amazing. I can't wait to visit again.

This is a little bit more special than other Italian restaurants. The food is exquisite, the staff are really attentive and the decor is simply amazing.

All the food was 10/10. I would have liked the cheesecake to have couple with a fruit sauce like to add abit more flavour. Apart from that I can’t argue. I highly recommend.

Great food and side dishes as always

We visited san carlo in Leeds for a birthday meal at the end of aug. When we went in and sat at the table to order drinks we ordered them and I ordered a full fat coke as I driving and also coming up to 5 years sobriety. When they bought the drinks over they placed them down and mine looked like it had water in the bottom of it so I thought dink that quick as it would water the coke down (which wasn’t even cold) when I got it in my mouth I realised it was vodka which was already in my mouth so had no choice but had to swallow it. The staff didn’t make anyway of an apology. They even joked when I ordered another coke ‘oh no vodka in it this time’ We have tried to contact the manager to get some sort of an apology or an offer from them to make it right. They have told to email them and we have but they have just ignored it. Imagine it was an allergy, or religious belief regarding alcohol or in my case recovering from an alcohol problem. When you’re paying nearly 200 pounds for a lunch for 3 you expect better. Thank you san carlo for ruining my 5 year sobriety…. Then ignoring my email… and making a joke about it.

We had a wonderful meal here for our daughter's seventh birthday. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. The seafood mixed starter was very nice, as were our pasta dishes. I had the Toscanini, which was a delicious dish with spiced pork sausage. Our daughter loved her pizza, and her hot chocolate with biscuits. I'd also highly recommend the Torta pistachio for nut fiends! Also very reasonably priced for such good quality. We'll definitely be back.

Best Italian food I have ever had

Always great food and the staff are lovely. We went for my son’s birthday and he really enjoyed it. There is a good variety of food to suit different tastes and they are always good at ensuring allergies are taken into account to ensure the customer is safe.

Always a pleasure to eat here, the sea bass is exceptional. Good wine list and a wide selection of starters.

The food was of a high standard but the service at such a level should be much slicker. Not much warmth and care should have been given-- its not difficult and does not involve a cost. Mistakes we're made but no "sorry " Good atmosphere but an improvement with service would help greatly.

Really helpful staff Really good food

Food was amazing so would definetly recommend especially the buratta pizza. Waitress was lovely and very chatty although she did get 'the look' from a senior for talking to us however I thought it was nice and welcoming.

Great environment, nice food and most importantly great service

We visited the restaurant with higher expectations. The wine, the services and the atmosphere are very satisfying. The problem happened to the mussels tonight. We ordered some dishes, they were very tasty except Cozze all' Arrabbiata and the Risotto were served in complete failure because the mussels got rotten. I returned the first dish but the second kept coming as if nothing happened. So we tried to take out those mussels we smelt with doubts, kept it on the table for we are not some difficult customers. The scallops replaced were very delicious. We hope they could take this seriously. We wish to come back again when improvements are secured.

First time visiting the restaurant after the renovation. The pasta was average but the portion size was huge which was amazing! The overall look of the restaurant was beautiful (especially the toilets). I did feel like the tables were too tight due to someone nearly spilling my drink when trying to squeeze out. I was served by 3 or 4 different people instead of 1 person and I did feel like they were checking on us too much (lots of looking over to see if I finished). I really enjoyed my time at the restaurant but with a few tweaks, it would be a more relaxed dinning experience.

Popped in as a last minute thing, and they found a table for 2 straight away( in a extremely busy service) , a bottle of red, 2 bowls of Delicious pasta and a sublime cream brulé later came out very happy , staff were excellent, helpful and very attentive

Lovely service, but personally, I thought the food was average and very expensive. My main meal was cold. A busy restaurant, too hot, opening a window or two would help!

Just show how it looks for the lagliolini Lobster, how can it cost for 35 pounds, the pasta and the sauce?

This place is certainly a must if you are looking for perfectly authentic, tasty Italian food with a lively atmosphere and glamorous surroundings.The service and wait time was satisfactory, although there were a few dishes on the menu that weren't available, but I'm not sure if that was due to our late booking(8.30pm). The staff were friendly and attentive considering how busy it was. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I'll definitely be visiting again.

Oh my god absolutely amazing and especially when I found the cocktail with Hennessy and Wray and nephew food was awesome definitely worth the money. Staff are fast and polite I eat out a lot but this is definitely in my top 5 places

Delicious food with impeccable service!

We usually go to the Street Lane branch but as they are closed for refurbishment we thought to try the one in Leeds center.

I've worked in hospitality for over a decade and on my first visit to San Carlo, I have to admit it was the perfect experience. I took my girlfriend there to eat, Angelo served us he was outstanding, the food was sublime and the service was everything that you would expect from a professional restaurant. I can't thank the guys enough for the experience.

Lots of stuff guys. Real Italians, real Italian cuisine. Top service. It's inconvenient to go back but if I'm back in the area I won't miss it. Big

From the starter to desert was a hit back to back. The ambiance is relaxed and beautiful. Staff were very friendly and meal preparations didn't take long at all. Highly recommend. 10/10

The waiters are so lovely and attentive here. The food was amazing, the wait times not too long but at the same we didn’t feel rushed and although the restaurant was busy we didn’t feel cramped in and felt as though we were paid attention to. The bar tender even gave us bar recommendations for after. 10/10 would recommend

Clearly the people that dine here have never been to Italy. Overpriced, over hyped and another of the “see and been seen” places in Leeds. When I go out for dinner I want good food, not a run down from the staff on which footballers have been in for lunch that week. We had veal Milanese which was battered that thin I wouldn’t have been surprised to find a hole in it. And a ham & mushroom pizza which quite frankly looked like it had come off of a supermarket production line. All the mushrooms were thrown to one side and I had to play spot the ham. When cut into slices, you either got all or nothing on your tomato base. Hence we won’t be returning. I actually think it would be cheaper to fly to Rome for a pizza than go for dinner here. And I’d enjoy it 10 times more.

We had booked a table at 8:15 for early birthday celebrations. Upon arrival, we were told our table was not ready and we were directed to the bar where we waited almost half an hour to be seated at a table. At almost 9pm we were seated, service was slow but food was lovely. Didn’t get main course until 10:20pm so asked for it to be packed up, some items had been left out. Not value for money as paid a fortune that evening and didn’t receive the usual service we’re used to. Did contact the head office but was told there was nothing they could do. Very disappointing and won’t be returning.

San Carlo's still got it! San Carlo Manchester has always been known for it's ability to attract the who's who of the city crowd. With it's busy bistro ambience and wine being a fantastic draw. But the food often failing to draw the same praise. After our recent trip to the Leeds location, I can tell you that the food is far from an afterthought! We were greeted by the Capocameriere and shown the a lovely corner table. A fantastic choice as a young couple with a lucky last minute reservation. Much obliged sir! The ambiance was fantastic, the waitstaff maintain a balance that only the truly exceptionally coordinated can. Never within ear shot and always just an inclination away from taking a drinks order. Truly, the team is exceptional. That said, the highlight of the evening is the food. My god, the scallops were cooked perfectly. The Frutti Di Mare was a personal highlight. But honestly everything was flawless. Our intention wasn't to order seafood exclusively. But when it's done with such practice. The rustic ingredients turned to art under the eyes of a master craftsman. We were both truly glad we did. Our compliments and gratitude to the team. Go see them for yourselves! We will most certainly be back.

Way too many people inside. The staff couldn't keep up and wasn't very attentive at all. The noise level is something you expect at McDonald's, not at a quite pricey Italian restaurant. Food was fresh and good, but a little under seasoned

Had the mussels to start with followed by tagliolini lobster with a rocket salad, two glasses of pinot grigio and the chocolate and hazelnut cake (with ice cream) and a cappuccino. Generous portions ( next time I may skip the starter) but that was delicious!

The food and drink was perfect! I had spaghetti 🍝 fruitti de mare and drink 🍹 blood orange Paloma. The spaghetti was filled with clams, mussels and prawns 🍤. It was delicious 🤤. Customer service was top notch. The price is worth it. I made a reservation prior to going, I feel you’d be admitted without reservation so far they have space.

I took almost every friend who visited me in Leeds here for a date. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and beautiful decoration. The food tastes great, especially the spicy creamy lobster pasta, which is our favorite dish that we always order. Highly recommend this place!

Welcomed from the moment we stepped in. Lovely food (a little pricey) but ok as a treat or for a celebration. Fast, efficient and friendly staff. Would highly recommend it.

The food was mediocre. I ordered a Prosciutto Pizza, but the bottom of the pizza was soggy, as if the sauce was too wet. The staff always seemed busy and were constantly running around.

I was excited to try this place out, the menu sounded incredible and I wasn't disappointed. I had the butternut squash ravioli, with flatbread and it was delicious. The atmosphere was perfect, there wasn't any irritating music playing, you could actually have a conversation with each other. The staff were attentive and very helpful. It was a fantastic evening and I cannot wait to come back. It was very reasonably priced too, it was about £140 for 3 of us, 3 mains, sides and drinks, plus one dessert.

Very nice meal and wine before a Gig at the O2 Especially good serveuse and very good fresh food A must visit in Leeds. Will return next time

Best of the best food , staff and service, I have experienced in a very long time.

I had lunch here. I had been past the restaurant several times and was entranced by its appearance. This was what eventually drew me in. The inside is delightful on the eye, bright, cheery, and there are several photos of customers on the walls as well as some striking paintings. The service was excellent. A warm greeting and welcome, then shown to a table. It was quiet, i was there 10min after opening, menus duly arrived, i had water and proseco. Then i ordered Arancini to start and Tuna nicoise salad. The starter was delightful, 3 delicate balls of Arancini in a truffle scented white wine, cream sauce. The let down was the Tuna. Too much lettuce, hard olives, and the piece of tuna was too big. Only seared around the outside, good if it had been a thinner cut, however in this instance it resulted in a lot of raw fish. I did not enjoy or finish the dish. I would have discussed it, however i had a train to catch and dislike having to rush after eating. I will probably return sometime, at least to try something else on the menu, as i still do like the actual restaurant itsself. I think it would be better to go in the evening, when there may be a buzz about the place.

Lovely restaurant serving great food. Huge choice on the menu and tasty as. Little slow on the service but it became very busy with lots of large groups so don't can't imagine that delay is standard.

Living in north Leeds, I’ve only ever gone to the street lane branch but today I visited the city centre restaurant. I don’t normally leave reviews but the service was so good that I felt compelled too. It was so lovely and refreshing to have such good service by all the staff from the moment I entered until we left. The staff was great, helpful and friendly and service was amazing with the food being perfect.

The pricing is incredibly reasonable, considering the splendid quality of food and stellar service rendered. We are already looking forward to our next visit. I came here for abit of treat and I can't say I was disappointed but I can't say I was over the moon either. I cannot fault the staff or the food both where absolutely perfect. The only thing I can mark the restaurant down for is how close the tables to each other. I've seen more space at a nandos. The tables had at most maybe 1 foot separating each other I felt like I was on a triple date. I was also sat with my back to another table so every time somebody needed a wee they had to ask me to squeeze in which ruined the experience.

Visited Sat 16th for food whilst we were in Leeds. All staff were highly attentive and the food was excellent. We will be returning

Great please, with a great price for the food

Very disapointed on latest visit having eaten here many times. Carbonarra had about 4 pieces of meat in it. Sauce lovely but not to warrant price of dish. Service good but it was quiet at time we visited.
