Vinsanto in St Albans

Best place to go out in Harpenden for a high end dinner. The food is great - the truffle pasta is the stand out dish that you have to order! Service is spot on and the bar downstairs is perfect for post dinner drinks. All in all a great night out.

me and my wife arrived at the restaurant after wanting to go for some time our table was booked for 7:30 pm after waiting for 20 mins we had to ask for some service so we could order some drinks. Aron a one asked for our food order after getting frustrated we asked the owner could we have our drinks he became aggressive and incredibly rude to me and my wife then asked us to leave saying can’t you see we’re are busy and wait your turn!! i am the owner and i’ll do whatever i want to this was our wedding anniversary and was felt with an aggressive manner their other people on the restaurant who were equally frustrated. very disappointing experience and we would recommend you do not visit this place.

Beautiful decor, super friendly, professional service and absolutely delicious food. The Arancini are gorgeous. We’ll definitely be back - plan to book a dinner soon.

The best restaurant is Harpenden for date night. Food is always delicious and a great selection of wine. Service is great too

we have been to Vinsanto a few time and each time the food has been amazing and the service first class I can’t recommend enough..

A delicious Italian style tapas meal, but elevated. The small but exceptional menu, with outstanding pasta, burrata, tuna etc reminds me of Manteca in Shoreditch, but in our little town. The downstairs cocktail bar also feels vibrant and has a great atmosphere (alongside fab drinks). The staff and chefs all worked incredibly hard to deliver a fantastic experience. Our new local favourite, I don't know why it took us so long to try it.

Good service - waiter was friendly & knowledgeable about menu. However the food was salty and not particularly enjoyable sadly. Had chicken speidini which was bland with orzo salad which was salty and cold :( really would not go back. We were the only people eating in there but they still hurried us out of the restaurant so I won’t be returning - sorry

Gr8 space to have lunch. Lunch was lovely the menu was small but just right for lunch, the pinot blush was really nice and the service was brilliant.

We booked a table in the basement for drinks and some bar food for a Saturday evening. On arrival our table didn't have any plates or crockery so asked if we could order food with our drinks. Nicky, who was working at the bar, appeared offended by the question and reluctantly said we could have food but spoke in a resistant and offensive tone. This simple request then escalated into the worst service we had experienced in any restaurant. The staff were offended by any requests made and anything we asked for was responded with sarcasm and mockery. Nicky had obviously spoken about us to the other staff and their attitude then reflected his. My cocktail was 2/3rds of a glass full and I was told that it how the drinks were served (despite other customers having full glasses) and when asking when food was arriving, was told that it was coming, despite it being ordered over an hour ago. When we requested the bill and asked for service to be removed, again we were told in a very sarcastic tone that it would be a pleasure and when asking why we were being treated so badly, we were accused of being rude to staff. Disappointing to have such poor staff as even though cocktails and food were average, the venue and atmosphere was otherwise good.

Came here for a rare date night with my wife for some pre dinner drinks in the basement bar. There was a great bustling atmosphere and the staff were attentive and friendly. I am glad I booked as it was heaving and wouldn't have got a seat. Excellent service even though it was very busy. Some brilliant cocktails and the pale ale was lovely. It is pricey but nice for a treat! I will definitely be returning.

What’s not to love! Even after frequent visits this has got to be my favourite bar in Hertfordshire! Service is impeccable, food is amazing and all reasonably priced. We have been on a week night for a cocktail/wine and some nibbles. When I say ‘nibbles’ the food is a generous portion which is not only absolutely delicious but you get to have a lovely cocktail served by friendly and helpful staff. The Wednesday Milanese is to die for! Literally if a last meal were to be served this would be it by the amazing, talented chef! Plus my favourite cocktail - a dirty martini is made by the equally talented bartender. Literally the best cocktail outside of London. If you haven’t frequented this bar then you’re missing out. Yes it has a time limit but it’s a generous two hours and the table service is prompt and attentive without being over bearing. If you’re looking for a good night out with friends or a date night then this is the place. There’s no sticky floors, loud music so if that’s your thing then this isn’t the place for you ;-)

Popped in for the first time the other night and my goodness what a great place. For a Tuesday it was full with a great atmosphere. Staff where very attentive and the food was on point. We had the Burrata, Salmon, Arancini, Truffle pasta and prawns. I honestly thing it was the best Burrata I have had including in Italy itself! Pasta was cooked perfectly (I could of had two bowls). About 8 choices on the menu, all of which seemed to have cheese and/or bread. It’s not a tapas or any kind of restaurant. It’s a wine bar with snacks. No chicken, no pasta, no pork, only prawns as fish option, the “Ragu beef” was on soggy bread (no pasta). I’ve no idea whether they even had a chef or whether the food was just heated up by the bar staff (who clearly like cheese on everything). The champagne arrived in an ice bucket without any ice. Instead they decided to put a smaller ice bucket without ice within an ice bucket (without ice) and felt that would be appropriate. Booked from 6pm to 7:30pm but they told us we needed to leave by 7:15pm (which we were actually relieved about). Ate the recommended 4 “tapas” and then had to go for dinner elsewhere. Silver lining - they won’t be around this time next year 👍🏻
