I recently held my 50th birthday at The Village Hotel in Cheadle and although I had a really good night, the buffet was not worth the money at all. They charge £21.50 per head for their cheapest buffet and unfortunately too many of my guests were either not fed at all or fed very little even though I catered for the correct amount of people there. Also you will be charged double for a bottle of prosecco in the party room compared to what they charge in their main bar. I would recommend the hotel in general, staff are friendly, facilities are great and the location for me was spot on but if you are thinking of holding a function there, I would cater for far more people than you tend to invite making this function room the most expensive in the area. The food on the whole was nice but the chicken wraps and hummus wraps were not well received by my guests. They said they were dry and bland. I myself only got a mini burger, brushetta and spoonful of coleslaw on the evening and was shocked at how little food there was. Definitely not good value for money. What a shame because everything else was fab. I contacted the hotel and made them aware but all they were willing to do was offer me a table for 4 on a party evening or a nights stay but they often have special offers on for £49 for a room so this just added insult to injury.

Spent the weekend at the hotel and booked a Club Room. The bed was amazing very comfortable! The room was well-heated and spotless. The pool area was nice, with a great hot tub, sauna, and steam rooms that did the job. The gym had a good selection of cardio equipment, including a spin bike and rower. The weights room was locked when I went, but it looked well-stocked. The bar was very busy and seemed short-staffed, leading to long waits for food. However, when the food arrived, it was piping hot and tasted great thumbs up for that! Overall, a great stay with just a small issue at the bar. Would definitely return!

Currently in a room on the second floor. It's 00:06 in the morning and all I can hear is music. I asked if it could be turned down and was told no. If you want a good nights sleep I do not recommend this hotel. The walls are super thin and you can hear doors closing several rooms away, and peoples conversations in the rooms either side. Sound insulation is non-existant here. If you aren't a deep sleeper, you will NOT get a good nights sleep here. The cleanliness of the rooms is shocking, some very dusty surfaces. Mould in the bathroom. The rooms don't get cleaned when you are away. I've been here for several weeks now and my room has only been hoovered once and I think my bedding has only been changed once. The cleaners often knock and barge straight in before waiting for a reply. The breakfast is rubbish. Very cheap and limited options. Makes a premier inn look like a michelin star restaurant. Everything is over priced, the price of the beers here match Londons prices. I've found it a much better experience to go into cheadle for beer and food where there are many great options. The gym is very poorly designed with some knackered equipment. The pool is very shallow and an awkward shape so if you want to swim lengths, don't bother coming. The sauna and steam room get very very busy with a lots of local clientele using it. Which isn't a bad thing, but numbers should be managed better. You will struggle to relax in this so called spa as it is very busy. If you have young children using the swimming pool keep an eye on them because the lifeguards definitely aren't. This hotel does not care about its guests. The wellbeing of guests are not a priority here. It's Dirty, Noisy, Rude and generally crap. Ta,

Stayed here over the Valentine’s Day weekend. Just after we collected our keys, the lady behind us informed reception that her van had been broken into in their car park. To which the receptionist said they don’t have much working CCTV in the car park and couldn’t really help. Very dated decor and no sound proofing between the rooms. My pregnant wife was kept awake by next door playing drill music till 3am. If I hadn’t got this room in the winter sale for £50 per night it would get one star. I would strong advise avoiding this hotel. I’ll be going for a premier inn instead. They’re much safer, quieter and most days cheaper.

Do not book this hotel!! I stayed here for two nights in January with my partner and son. It was freezing outside and our room had no working heating. We tried to tell someone about this, but having arrived in the evening there were no staff on the desk to speak to. The hotel’s website directs you to an online chat function but that also had no answer. We bundled clothes on and got through the night (though I still have chilblains from my attempt to warm up with a bath - where the temperature is either cold or scalding). The next day we spoke to reception who said they would send maintenance up and some heaters. Neither came. I had to ask THREE seperate times before we got two heaters to slightly warm the room up for our second night. There was apparently no possibility of us moving to a room with working heating. I checking out I requested a refund for our first night, given it had zero heating. Reception agreed but since the overhead no refund and no response to my number outs attempts to contact The Village. This place is beyond shocking - don’t risk it!

Disgusting. Dirty, poorly kept, unhygienic, loud, soiled sheets, radiators broken in most rooms so it’s too hot. Have to leave window open, which means I constantly hear the planes taking off. Unfortunately work keep booking here, despite my pleas Some rooms are next to what sounds like a nightclub, which keeps you up.

Stayed at the hotel last night last minute due to a leak at home. Car park was a nightmare and struggled to get blue badge parking. Room was set as a double not a twin and there's not phone in the room so I had to go back down to get that rectified, the lady who I spoke with was lovely. No plugs near bed, run down, tissue all over carpet, view out of the window was bin bags of rubbish. The room was so hot even with a fan and windows, bathroom wasn't clean but I was so stressed I didn't want to go down again to speak to someone Getting ready in the morning having paid for a late checkout which was £15 house keeping knock then barge in whilst we wasn't fully dressed and said why was I there ,it was noted that I had checked out. I explained I sorted a late checkout and she said well you need to come down now and pay for it, I said no I will pay when I leave. Paid and left, very stressed mum with am autistic young adult, wouldn't stay again or recommend

BE AWARE!!!! I was made redundant so was forced to cancel my gym membership but they said I had to pay 2 additional months before I could leave... Tried my best but was short by £30.16 so they got solicitors to chase me and start CCJ proceedings (wow!) Certain it cost them allot more to hire them to do this but they obviously have no idea theres a cost of living crisis right and did it anyway... Very disappointed :(

A one night stay was reasonably comfortable at a good price point. The Caprese Salad was disappointing. One tomato sliced horizontally, 5 times, interspersed with thin slices of mozzarella cheese. The overly done balsamic vinegar squiggles on the small plate were an attempt to make the meal look bigger than it was. Not satisfying, especially when the other three in our party had more substantial quantities of food. The mild curry was served on a bed of rice and the chicken Caesar salad filled a large plate. Breakfast was reasonably good for the price and offered a good selection. Our room was small; such that two people could not pass between the end of the bed and desk. Our tiny bathroom could not accommodate two people. A person had to negotiate around the modern rectangular sink to use the toilet. There was no towel rail and working the shower was difficult without instructions. There was a Dyson fan in the room with the usual kettle, tea and coffee etc. Our room was near to a 'dreaded' corridor fire door which banged when people let it close on its own. Our bathroom door was also on a strong closure system and care was needed when entering to make sure it didn't bang. There was no operating extractor fan in the bathroom.

Not so good. Rooms dark and small. TV is set up for screen sharing but it doesn't allow it. Sky channels displayed but don't work. I assume you have to pay Rooms surface cleaned, but go a bit deeper and the dust and grime is there. The rooms are very warm which is great in winter but summer no. They do have Dyson fans which I assume are expensive. But the dust build up in them makes them to noisy to use when you try to sleep. There is no restaurant now so all food in the bar which was full and noisy. Good There were lovely person at the check in who helped me with setting up and parking registration and at breakfast to seat me Clean kettle and Tea, coffee milk etc Iron, ironing board, hair dryer in the room Breakfast, sausages, bacon and other food was nice. I felt good quality I can't help but feel Village hotels are changing to help survive the increasing costs of living but are reducing their customers expectations. 4/4/24 on last visit there were no fried or poached eggs. Slall room with a fitted top sheet that was to small and overused pillows. Star rating updated

First time staying here but very happy. Stayed whilst attending a conference. Central and very convenient. Staff were all friendly and helpful, special mention for Dan and Alexia who were so efficient and respectful on check out, but also to the evening bar staff who were lovely on both evenings (18th/19th March). The bar area can be noisy but my room was quiet. Comfy bed, blackout blind and soft pillows, nice shower and room clean with plenty of tea and coffee supplied. I only thing I would mention is the bathroom door was noisy and banged which was fine as I was on my own but could be annoying if sharing! Would definitely stay again.

Staff were very friendly and helpful (even tho they messed up my bill) and the food was great. Friday evening was sooooo busy with kids running around, screaming and even braking a glass. Very annoying. The walls of the room seemed very thin, I could hear what was going on in the rooms either side and the double glazing did very little to keep the noise of the low flying planes out. Stayed in several village hotels before and always been very pleased. Unfortunately I will not return to this one

Have not stayed in the rooms but a member of the gym and go swimming with my kids. Pool is good and the changing rooms are nice. Might be good to have some better family changing rooms, as the current is just two disabled toilets poorly done and can feel dirty. The actual mens changing room is fine, but again maybe a section dedicated to where kids can change as often there's too many people dotted around and my two boys just start picking up anything they can.

So unbelievably sad to see the end of this fine establishment! I have been a customer since 1980. Simply wonderful! Mario's front-of-house skills coupled with Gianni's cooking (and drumming) expertise meant a night here was always a special occasion. In fact, although it could be argued that a restaurant should be judged primarily on its culinary qualities, it was the combination of service, food, ambience and bon homie that made Mario & Gianni's stand out. Birthday meals, romantic meals and company meals - all were hosted here with aplomb! A great loss to Hazel Grove. Footnote: I went to visit Gianni at the hospice when the cruellest disease of them all was taking him. With characteristic joviality, he said he was looking forward to meeting David Bowie and Elvis. 😊
