Vietnam City Restaurant in Birmingham

This place is incredible. The food is outstanding and very authentic. Easily the noodles I have had in the UK. This isn't a trendy spot with influencers and date nights, this is pure good viet noodles! Just stroll through the grocery store and have a seat and prepare to have your mind blown. Their food is incredible.

The staff were lovely, but the food was awful gristle and bones on the chicken and tails on the already overly chewy prawns the sauce was watery. I can't recommend it unfortunately

Must eat when you are in the Chinese Quarter in Birmingham

Vietnamese restaurant behind a small shop where there is no outside light or ventilation, the smell was not the best either. The food was ok, we weren't blown away, but it doesn't look like the people in the pictures on the menu. The offer is very wide. Very cold service and fair price quality.

Authentic Vietnamese Tanghe, the soup base is hot enough, the noodle soup comes with bean sprouts, mint leaves and thyme, the soup base can be drunk without adding MSG, the soup is so sweet, the Vietnamese coffee is first-class👍👍😊The waiters are polite and the price is high

So happy to have found a Vietnamese restaurant that aims for authenticity. I had the Beef Pho Special and a iced milk Vietnamese coffee and it was spot on! I will certainly be back and likely with friends.

Thai is where you go for an authentic Vietnamese

This is a restaurant behind a sort of Asian mini supermarket. It's a homely type of place, food was probably very traditional and authentic. They didn't have the masaman curry that I wanted, so I went for another curry. Food was ok, and I might visit the place again next time I am in Birmingham.

Finally found the authenticated rare beef pho. It will be great if the rice noodle can be cooked a bit longer to get a softer texture. Hidden in a Vietnamese supermarket，not easy to find without google maps.

Went to Vietnam City on a Wednesday Evening. We were the only ones there. Alarm bells started ringing. We were presented with raw beef, which was inedible and stone cold . Soup was oily, mouldy mint leaves in the summer rolls. Will be reporting to council - no wonder nobody was in the restaurant but us. How disgusting- would not expect this in the Birmingham Chinese Quarter. Hope I don't get food poisoning!

Nicely made food. Broad choices and everything cooked to order. Service is friendly also. Would definitely come back because there’s so many items on the menu we’d love to try! If you’re open-minded and have an adventurous tastebud, highly recommend the boneless chicken feet salad - chef kiss.

Absolutely delicious Vietnam foods

Had pho tai and broken rice. Pho soup was nice, noodles tasted like dried and then reconstituted rather than fresh - didn't have that silky smooth texture I'd prefer. Beef slices were just okay. The marinated pork chop was pretty good.

Great food, everything exactly like its cooked in Vietnam, Clams where juicy and table had all the good stuff pickled chillies, chilli paste etc.

The worst Pho in Birmingham. I had high expectations of the food as the restaurant is operated by Vietnamese. It turned out to be a big disappointment. The soup is tasteless. The noodles are very “rough” in texture. I just finished a bit of the bowl and left the restaurant with anger and frustration.

Very quiet, when you come in then other customers look at you. The waiter did nothing and we choose whichever seat you want. After ordering, the waiter bring foods and said nothing but leave them on the table. the music is so loud like their living room. I was not feeling Im a customer here. After all, went to WC for many times next date. Never come back

This is a seriously authentic Vietnamese food outlet. It's clean and well laid out. English translated menu with very good English speaking service. Do not venture anywhere else for Vietnamese food in Birmingham. Ask for the specialities and enjoy this true oasis of culture. FYI - walk through the little supermarket in the front to get to the large one space restaurant at the back

I ordered some spring rolls, pho and green tea for lunch. Service was good, staff was very helpful. Food was great and it really reminded me my trip to Hanoi last month. I would love to try different dishes next time. Thank you!

Great find. Chung Ying was full (their loss!), and this restaurant is directly opposite, albeit it on the second floor (there is a lift). Good food, good service and pleasant surroundings. Would go back for sure.

To access you have to walk through the shop, don't be put off, food was great just let them know to bring starters and main course separately, if that's your preference, can definitely recommend. No photos unfortunately was to busy tucking into the food 😁

Absolutely incredible. I had the fried noodles with beef and my partner had the beef noodle soup. So delicious! It’s through a shop but don’t let that put you off, worth a visit!

went for their lemongrass chicken. very nice. definitely will go back. have to walk pass the small supermarket corridoor to reach the restaurant. didnt even know that is a restaurant. ice coffee is superb but very small and full of crushed ices.

We had an awesome Pho Bo here- taste was very nice, portion big and it came with loads of fresh herbs.

Absolutely fantastic food, the most authentic vietnamese I've had outside of the country itself. My lemongrass beef stir fry was excellent, and the banh xeo was perfect. 10/10 would recommend

Highly recommend this place Highlights: the food tasted amazing; very fresh and delicious. The sauces and pickles on the side were also very good! The waiter helped explain some of the dishes on the menu too. I really recommend the boiled glutinous rice dumplings (6.banh bot loc luoc) Could be better: I can't think of anything :)

Came here after reading some positive reviews but left quite disappointed. Waiter took our order and stopped to have lunch, didn't bring our drinks nor cutlery. We had to ask another waiter for those. Starters came with main dishes. Ordered the spicy duck red sauce but it wasn't spicy at all, very blend. The fried squid definitely wasn't fresh, the prawn red sauce was also blend. When paying the bill with card, we weren't allow to split, one person had to pay it in full. Overall: passable.

Come to this restaurant for a good Vietnamese food experience

Be warned - NOT OPEN. I've tried to visit here 4 times now, every time it is shut! Google shows it is open, I make my way here and the shutters are down. Today is the 4th time of trying based on positive reviews but no more. So a warning to anyone else, don't waste the journey like I have, find something else in the City!

Very much a hidden gem…,literally as it’s at the back of the shop. It can be intimidating to walk through the shop to access the restaurant but it’s worth it. Really nice Vietnamese place with a large menu even tho the menu I received had 2 pages and my friend had a menu with more pages. Atmosphere is relaxed and nice. Price is reasonable as well.

Absolute gem of a Vietnamese restaurant tucked away neatly behind a shop (you have to walk through the shop, don’t be afraid). It had all the feeling and decor of being in the streets of Vietnam with tables of Vietnamese enjoying a meal. Food was top quality and could not question it. Our table shared lemongrass chicken, beef and summer rolls which all were perfect. Fresh chilli a plenty on the tables and it made for the ideal meal. Go here rather than the bigger more commercial places which will disappoint

This is the authentic Vietnamese restaurant I been looking for 8 years!! Food is fantastic, if you been to Vietnam and tried food in Vietnam this is the place. Its being the Vietnam supermarket. The pho are delicious, the tiger prawns are nice, the squid is nice, all I xan say I can taste the authentic taste of Vietnam. Thanks, will be coming back again

Tucked away behind the supermarket here is a lovely and very authentic restaurant which we were amazed by. Such lovely food in large portions and excellent value food and drinks menu too. It had a more family feel to it inside with the team serving us Vs the commercialised places of Pho and Vietnamese Street Kitchen. I would highly recommend a visit here.

I spotted this new restaurant on Google maps and thought I would give it a try From the front it is a shop with fruit and vegetables for sale but right at the back of the store is a door to a really nice restaurant. THIS PLACE NEEDS BETTER SIGNS! It is clear this is all very new and the staff are a bit like fish out of water but I’m going to let that go because we all have to start somewhere But importantly my food was great and my beer was cold although I’ve never been served beer with ice before, even when I was staying in Vietnam so I have no idea what that was all about Whilst I was there they were busy cooking up dishes and taking photos for their new menu. Some of them looked spectacular so I am just going to have to go again in a couple of weeks On top of everything, the prices were very reasonable So it’s not perfect and the service feels a little amateurish but the food was good and authentic and they appear to be trying hard so do give them a try. They deserve to succeed (if they get better signs)

We visited this restaurant because we wanted to try an authentic vietnamese restaurant and we were definitely not disappointed. The beef pho was amazing. The staff recommended Nem and it was just as nice; they even rolled it up for us ☺️

While shopping yesterday we came across this Vietnamese restaurant. We were shocked because we've never noticed it before. Turns out, it was opening day! As a person of Vietnamese decent and someone who just loves Vietnamese food, it's exciting to have a new Vietnamese restaurant to try. You could tell this was opening day with the wait staff learning the menu but they were very nice. The food was authentic, I love that everything is served with loads of fresh herbs and dipping sauces. We ordered some quail which reminded us of when we were in Ho Chi Minh City eating grilled quail. Can't wait to go back to HCMC again but until we do, we can at least go back to Vietnam City.
