Lovely afternoon meeting old friends & one special friend from Australia. This is a hidden gem but could be improved greatly and 'COULD BE A UNIQUE' place for Sunderland. Firstly they need to get the phone line working. Three of us had tried to get through to pre order food but phone line does not work. Two lovely happy girls on service but they were overworked and looked stressed, they need a pat on the back . Couple of jacket potato orders were missed from one order so it was an extra half hr wait. Then 2 sandwiches came out with wrong fillings then they ran out of bread so no more sandwiches could be ordered. Not the waiting staffs fault but they got the flack. Then we were told there was no white wine left. Such a shame as we loved the place but it needs these things addressing. would still recommend as we need some unusual attractions in our city. With a telephone system that works.

Poor welcome even those on universal credit. Paid for home cooked food not burnt thrown at me with a surly smile or even just not arriving when paid for.

I come here quite often, I’ve been with both friends and family on more than one occasion and would highly recommend! The food is AMAZING! I believe it is all home made from scratch and you can’t half tell! The portion size of meals is generous and there is a specials board to choose from too! The cakes looked gorgeous! We had a scone as we were already full from our meals but couldn’t say no to them! The interior of the tea room is fantastic! It has original features of when it was a bar and has loads of Victorian decorations, there is an option to have your photograph taken in a Victorian outfit on a lovely backdrop!

Came here for a tea for two and i couldn't fault it. Plenty variety of delicious sandwiches and cake to work through. The waitress couldn't do enough for us and made sure we had an enjoyable afternoon. Prices are very reasonable. Victorian Eve's is worth a pop in to experience a tea shop with a differnce.

On Monday 15th April'19, We decided to try Victorian Eve's tearoom for a breakfast sandwich & drink. First time we've been in but it was beautiful inside, the decor is amazing & the tables were nicely spread apart so there's plenty of room. We were given the menu & decided to try the bacon & sausage Sandwiches with a Tea & Coffee. The bacon was cooked nice & crispy but still soft & the hubby commented that the sausage was "proper butchers sausage" so got the thumbs up from him. Only slight disappointment was, they don't do decaffeinated tea, which is definitely something I think they should consider. Total bill was £6, excellent value for money, will definitely be going back again to try their lunches. Worth a visit.

This cafe deserves 6 stars not 5! Everything that a cafe should be and what used to be the norm before that chains arrived. Great decor, proper comfortable seats, relaxed ambience and service with a smile and by people who can communicate, both verbally and emotionally. Well worth a visit - you won’t be disappointed

Came across this little gem whilst staying at Roker, as a regular user of "Traditional " Tea Rooms whilst touring this was the 1st one I have ever been in with a Victorian theme. Ambiance and service was excellent with a basic traditional North East menue. With full dinners for three people with ample pots of tea for a total of about £25.You also have the option of a chance to have a souvenir photo in traditional Victorian dress., all credit to the proprietors finding niche market in a world of sameness.WILL DEFINITELY RETURN if in the area again.

Found this tea room by accident. We occasionally visit Sunderland and were looking to get some breakfast. We walked out if the shopping centre and came across this place. How wonderful. An old pub, now beautifully decorated and playing relaxing classical music. Hubby had a large breakfast and I had poached eggs on toast. Eggs cooked perfectly. Coffee was very good. There looked to be a lovely selection of cakes and scones available too. A refreshing change from the bustle of places like Costa and Starbucks. Thus will now be our "go to" place for coffee, breakfast, cake etc on future visits to Sunderland.

This is unusual in its Victorian style furnishings etc. The cakes are home-made although the range available can be limited. The portion size of my Victoria sponge with cream was on the small side compared with other places but adequate. This is just for cakes and tea/coffee. not for meals but within that category it's worth a visit.

We were waiting to change trains in the dungeon which is Sunderland railway station, not the nicest of things, so we decided to go for mid-afternoon tea and cakes / scones. My wife and I, ventured out into the daylight which was Fawcett Street and saw what was to me a new venture just across the way. What a lovely place, very spacious with many tables inside in the establishment, set out with traditional Victorian trinkets and the like. The lady dressed in Victorian attire took our order for tea and scones - attractively prices as well. Cakes were also available and chalk boards suggested a range of quiches and the like were also available. Quiet, cool and well appointed Victorian Eves was just what we wanted at that moment.A very traditional establishment .. even leaf tea came with the necessary strainers, the scones were still warm, we only stayed till until our train was due but it was a tranquil spot on a busy Tuesday.
