Arts Centre Washington in Sunderland

This is a wonderful venue to have at the heart of our community. I particularly like the art exhibitions which are very professionally displayed; make it a visit, you won't be disappointed. The Courtyard bar is the icing on the cake for laid back food and drink. For CAMRA drinkers, it's a must.

Stopped by to have a coffee and a look in the art gallery. Art gallery was good and the paintings on display were very thought provoking. Our Coffee were very nice. We ended up having lunch there, too, outside in the courtyard as for October, the weather was lovely. We had hot sandwiches with hand cut chips. The food was superb. I'd recommend the roast of the day sandwich which was lamb on sat 26th Oct. The service was really good too. Friendly and professional. Staff member came back to table to check we were happy with everything. I would happily recommend visiting.

Excellent food and staff (very helpful). Service a little slow but we were 7 people, and the food was well worth the wait. A great day out, with a unanimous thumbs up from our party. Added bonus was a tour of the gallery.

Great venue. Lots happened at Fayre today 28/9. Stalls, music. Coffee was a bit disappointing. Lots going on all year round. Great venue.

A really nice arts centre with loads of activities and appears to be busy. Great performance area nice bar/cafe . A great craft fair was on whilst I was there.

Friendly staff and service, almost always somethings goung on. Amazing events

Lovely little place, food is good, staff are friendly (but too few of them so there is usually a wait to get served). Gets very busy at peak times. The gyros chicken is delicious.

Great classes and courses, friendly staff and good food. Love the new outdoor seating area.

I am a long time regular user of both the public bar and the various galleries and venues, all are excellent.

Great art fayre venue, lots of people, great entertainment

The Art Centre Washington is a place to go for a lovely meal and a drink. There is lots going on there . You can learn to Draw , or play an instrument, you can join Trish and Trinas Performing Arts and learn to Dance. You can join a Drama group. Or you can sit and watch a good Panto , or whatever they have going on through the year .

We saw 'Enid Blyton' who was played by Liz Grand, tonight! Her portrayal of Enid was supurb and very emotive! Well done; a brilliant performance! 👏👏👏

Like to go here for food or drinks, good atmosphere all the time also have local beers and good service.

A multitude of art and craft exhibitions, theatre and music events take place here. Easily booked for your own exhibition or events.

It's a very nice area fatfield. The arts centre givs a really nice atmosphere to show how welcoming it is to the public/visitors. The little pubs..The live music.. the studios for music creation. All great and if this sounds like abit of you I would definitely go check it out if your travelling past.

A good variety of functions going on nice environment to be in however, the center needs more parking facilities there is a field in part of the grounds which could be converted but it may be costs stopping the work

Great community venue offering much entertainment and facilities. However, parking can be madness on occasions when there are lots of activities/groups happening at the same time.

Visited the Courtyard for lunch. The food is very good value for money and the Staff, Sam and Ruby were great. The selection of beers and lagers is amazing. I would recommend to all

Visited for the Sunderland Short film festival. Lovely venue, friendly staff. Cafe looked like it had a nice choice but I didn't eat there.

Great food in Courtyard Bar and thoroughly enjoyed swing band night in Low Barn. Bright Street Big Band were fab and staff friendly and welcoming.

Great atmosphere but not enough parking

Went to see a slapstick comedy show and had a great time. Seats were comfortable with plenty of spacing. Staff were really nice and bar area was also great.

A lovely space to exhibit and work. With workshops to rent and a cafe it is a pleasant place to see.

First visit with friends. Fish and chips were amazing.

A lovely warm welcoming place. The Courtyard cafe abit busy but then it was just before a performance. Food and prices very good, service even under pressure very good and they smile through the pressure. WELL DONE.!! Play The Island VERY GOOD and thought provoking. 10/10 to the actors, support and arrangement. The theatre hall perfect for such an intimate play. Get to The Arts Centre HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, loads going on. Thank you all.

Lots going on here to encourage visitors but the car park is far too small.

Was a better place when a regular Sat night Folk Club on. What happened to the Davey Lamp?

We've started trish n trina classes here. The arts centre has a cute little crafty corner, perfect for kids. Not seen the exhibit yet as was closed when went.

Had a brilliant evening Sat. My great grandkids loved the pantomime. Mia 9 wants to join the theatre group, loved the dancers wanted to join in. We were in the front row. Great atmosphere. Loved the chase around South Shields X

Little gem of a place , staff are lovely , best coffee in Washington slight ( only gripe is slow service from staff in the courtyard ) For such a small place there is a great deal of activities , concerts and classes to choose from . Lovely old medieval building which has an interesting history well worth a visit . Rachel's wreath making yesterday was an absolute pleasure to attend . Well done to this lovely lady her mam and her boyfriend.

Popped in here for a drink and was very pleasantly surprised. Very friendly bar staff who were helpful and talkative. This is a bit of a hidden gem that probably deserves more attention than it gets. It does great guest beers as well as the usual mainstream draughts. I didn't try the food but may return at a later date. It may not be a 'go to destination' but I think it's worth a diversion for a nice drink

Lovely food and got our large table out quickly. Only dropped a star as the prebooking process was a faff

Table booked 230 waited to order went to bar to be told kitchen closed 3pm.....why take our booking then? We left went to havelock....plus side girl v apologetic understand not her fault

This is my go to place for a Chicken and halloumi pita Gyros. As good as anywhere in Greece. Guest ales usually good and the staff are top notch. Atmosphere is so relaxed, all the family love it. Only negative is its a bit more expensive but welll worth the extra cost in my opinion.

This week's movie was The Queen. Cheap tickets, comfy seats, thoroughly enjoyable. They have a lovely tea room too.....

THE Courtyard bar is excellent. Serves a lovely pint of Punk IPA. Food ok but was better before lock down. Give the pub a try.

The bar area is lovely with a fine choice of real ale. Really enjoyed the beer festival over Easter. Liked a canvas in the Gallery so was pleased when I was able to purchase it. All in all a nice place.

Easy parking, extensive facilities and professionally run. Great practice space for the big band. Many community based activities, professional work spaces and businesses thrive here. A visit is a must.
