Viceroy of India in Caerphilly

We went here for a meal with some friends after not seeing them for a long time. We had a group of 8 with varied diets such as gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan. The menu offered a decent amount of selection for all of us which was nice. The manager however was very standoffish with us and didn’t even crack a smile when taking our orders. The food was mediocre and a lot of it was not served hot, just slightly warm. One of the servers who was getting us drinks was super nice and offered a warm atmosphere in contrast to the manager who was pretty abrasive. Some of us had to grab napkins and cutlery off other tables as they weren’t provided during the starters, so when we got our main meals we had to grab it off other tables. Someone in our group also noticed that the tablecloth wasn’t cleaned when we first sat down. I think 3 stars is fair for this restaurant. It’s decent enough, but would have gotten more if the manager wasn’t so cold towards us.

Over the years i have eaten in this restaurant several times and the food has always been fantastic. And it was again when we ate in there recently. However the service we received this time was appalling. The most we had from any member of staff was a grunt. Everything felt very rushed and they were extremely rude. We witnessed people who were still eating being asked if they had finished so their plates could be cleared, the manager had no people skills and again, didnt even say hello, thanks, everything ok, etc. Our order was taken and we were grunted and and he walked off. The lady serving drinks would just stand there and stare at you while you were eating. This place has gone down hill badly. I will be going to Flavours Of India in the future.

Worst Indian I've been to. Travel elsewhere if you want nice food and service. Poorly run an bland food. It's such a shame because it's my local.

I met up with a friend and had a great evening. We had a mixed starter, a Biryani and a bhuna. The food was fresh and hot and tasted exceptional. The service was friendly and prompt. Would definetly go again.

Food is delicious and great value for money. We went on a quiet evening and it took a while for us to be served and for us to get the tip. Would definitely go again but would appreciate a more attentive, friendly service

Pre-ordered on social media to collect and was very happy with the timing and collection. Originally forgot a curry but they rang me up before I noticed while on the way home and 5 minutes after I got home they delivered it for free and with some extra food, I have been going here for some time and can’t be disappointed each time and will keep doing so!

Picked up takeaway unpacked at home looked and smealt absolutely dreadfulThey forgot to put our pilau rice in so rang up, really rude on phone but delivered our rice none of the family could eat anything so put it back in bag and gave back to driver when they delivered. It was bright red and watery and the smell was enough to turn anyone. Complete waste of £37Worst takeaway ever

I ordered food via the Facebook page/messenger and it was very easy as Maz sent me the menu for the dishes I requested and helped me with my order, I ordered for the meal to be ready for 6.30pm and it was there waiting on the dot. Delicious as always, boiling hot and big portions. Many thanks for another tasty meal and special thanks to Maz for all the help, I will be ordering again soon.

I’m so happy to give a review I ordered my favourite Indian dishes to collect and I wasn’t disappointed . lovely friendly staff greeted me and I can honestly I can’t wait to go back for another Indian .the food was incredible and very tasty and fresh also it was still boiling hot when I got home, the portions were very good!!!!! Please if your looking for a beautifully cooked Indian meal try here as I am satisfied and going back for more very soon

This was my first Indian takeway this year & I wasn't disappointed. I pre-ordered our food by phone for collection. The food was ready at the time I requested. We ordered: Viceroy Special Biryani (enough for a 2nd portion the following evening!), Balti Chicken Tikka Massala, Bombay Aloo, Boiled rice & Garlic Naan - all very delicious & came with two free poppadoms & mint sauce. Great food & service - thank you! - great start to my Staycation!!

Pre-ordered for a large family take away and it was just being packed as I got there so it was all still piping hot when I got home, we ordered a variety of meals and they were all delicious, plenty to go around and share amongst us. If your looking for good food and great services then this is all you need Thanks to all the staff

Really disappointed because it's usually pretty good. Order was wrong but to be fair a new order was waiting when we got there after ringing. Unfortunately they then still managed to forgot one of the starters, and food was really bland and tasteless.

As I walked in , staff were very welcoming, and ordered food online on Facebook page viceroy of India restaurant and take away , ordered at 3 pm for 5:30 pm and food were ready to pick up , and paid cash , off I go back home , well chuffed with service, thank you maz

Ever been to a place where you feel like the manager is annoyed you are there? Very weird experience - zero customer service, very unwelcoming, no care given what-so-ever, ordering the food and drinks felt like you were offending them!The whole evening felt uncomfortable. The only smile was given when we were paying the bill. Food was very good hence a generous two stars. Maybe if the chefs were serving the tables we would have had a better night!

Another great meal from the Viceroy this evening, so good to see the restaurant busy as well. Hoping everyone continues to support our best local Indian takeaway in 2020. Happy New Year to Sam, Maz and all the staff.

Lamb passanda take away was absolutely awful, Pink??? Tasteless and very watery. Incredibly disappointed will not have a meal from here ever again, would not recommend...

Was expecting much better things from here as we have ate here before. We decided to try the buffet as it smelt good coming into the restaurant. What we didn't know there wasn't much choice at all. One veggie curry and that wasn't pleasantly nice. Only one rice available for everyone. The food was emptying by the time we were coming onto our second plate so we waited until they got filled up a bit more. We carried on chatting all finished our food when one of the waiters came around and asked us can I take your plates away please. We said yes and expected new ones as they were dirty. Little did we know we would have to pay for our plates again as he assumed we were finished without even asking us or telling us there would be another charge. We were all disgusted with this as we wasn't in the restaurant for more than 40 minutes. What i alos realised was when I ordered a pint of strongbow I saw the waiter pour the strongbow from a flaggon bottle straight into a pint glass which i've never seen before. We were also brought around poppadoms and naan bread without even asking for them and getting charged at the end for them. We wasn't to impressed when the total bill came to £61.80 for four of us! We only had 1 plate each and 2 drinks absolute rip off of a place and the waiters should be more clear when they are taking plates away.

This is the best Indian around. I’ve tried many others and nothing compares to this one. Both take away and sit in are amazing. Staff couldn’t do enough for us and the food is amazing. Wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Recently found this restaurant....We was pleasantly surprised as the decor was nice and restaurant clean.The waiter was very attentive and service was quick.Hubby and I ordered 2 dishes from the specials section ( sorry, can’t remember what, but both were chicken dishes )We had poppadoms with the pickle tray to start and I was in heaven as the onion wasn’t mixed with coriander!Main meals arrived fairly quickly, and both looked well presented.My only slight criticism is the chicken was very finely minced....We will try this restaurant again, but opt for a different main meal.

Had a lovely evening in the Viceroy. Buffet night (Tuesday) and the food was delicious. Service from Polash was excellent!

We regularly eat here, fantastic quality and with layers of tastes throughout the meal. never had frozen cheap stuff like this before and far from disgusting as implied in a previous review. we have been coming here for years. and will continue to experience the friendly greeting and comfortable surroundings. they even cooked a special vegetarian meal for one for my son this evening. and it was superb and fantastic value for money. far too much for one, but would not give it to the dog.as implied in a previous review. The dog will have to stick to his biscuits as you shouldn't give spicy food to dogs.

Call here a couple of times a month! Always a nice welcome from the staff. The buffet is a little bit repetitive but always of a high standard and plentiful! Very good value Indeed!

The meals were disgusting. Ready made Frozen cheap products from cash and curry even my dog won’t eat that. What a waste of place!!!

We've had a visit to the restaurant and a take away from the Viceroy and both were exceptionally good. All beautifully prepared, tasty and generous portions too. I would recommend them highly.

Me and my girlfriend visit here a lot as it is our favourite Indian in the area. I’ve tried a few difficult curries and they are always fantastic and at a reasonable price. Naan bread is lovely as well, quite a unique naan bread compared to other Indians. Staff are all friendly too.

I been coming to the viceroy for over 20 yrs . The staff are very helpful and will tell you what the dishes contain to suit your taste. Very helpful excellent service good food highly recommend it’s the only place I eat prawns and I never been ill

We tried the Viceroy for the first time tonight and the food was great, freshly cooked very tasty and well presented. Our waiter Nahim was very attentive and the service overall was good.Overall a good meal and great value we will certainly be going back.

The restaurant is clean and well dressed that's the only praise I have. I took the family to the buffet evening (monday) and I feel quite guilty, it wasn't good. There were four curries and only one rice choice, there were no labels so I have no idea what everything was supposed to be. The curry choices can only be described as pub food, I love Indian food and this wasn't worthy of any Indian culture. I understand it maybe a quiet night but it's no excuse for a lack of quality or standard. On the plus side.. the poppadoms were very good, I won't be going back though.

I use to go here alot when sam was there, went there this evening for a takeaway and i got to say it was absolutely terrible, chips looked a week old, curry tasted terrible, nam bread burnt, mint sauce didnt taste or look like mint sauce and onion barges terrible. All the food was cold we threw all of it after tasting it absolutely not cooked properly. So disappointed wheres sam he would never let this happen!

I have never had food from a restaurant that differs so greatly. On a good day its great. Any other band and boring. I won't be gifting again. It was just a waste of £30.

Great curry again....Chicken tikka starter was just enough to get us going, lime pickle was scary hot.

I went to the Viceroy for a sit down meal with my friend and we had a lovely time, the staff were so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable and could not do enough for you, they were really lovely to us, they even turned the lights up for us to take a selfie (Ha,Ha) the food was excellent, authentic Indian food - my friend is vegetarian so we had a few vegetarian options and each one was really delicious, the atmosphere is great too with lovely music, lighting and fish in a tank to watch the little fish swimming around as you eat, I enjoyed it so much that I had a take away from there this weekend, cant tell you enough how much I like it here, I will be going back there really soon - Thank you!

Not often do I write a negative review but I felt compelled after eating at this Indian restaurant.

Decided to out for a local curry, we were very disappointed, to start with, the TV in the takeaway waiting/bar area was very loud as if someone was hard of hearing, it was showing an Indian film, we could her it very loudly when we sat down too. There was no smile or welcome feeling from any of the staff, we sat down and the waiter took our drink order, seemed like he was there against his will, we went to order our food and he said I will send my colleague over to take the order, he came over and was equally as miserable, I ordered a chicken curry dish (sorry but can't remember the name) it was not good, tasted like BBQ sauce and vinegar, the coconut rice was nice though! They really need to sort out the food and the attitude. Nobody asked if everything was ok or did we enjoy our meal. I'm not a fussy eater at all but Will not be going back.

Great food and service from sam and his team. We had food in but took a tikka masala & korma home... great tasting with rich sauces..I'm sure my family would eat there every night if allowed.

Last Sunday I had take away to collect and I ordered tandoori mixed grill peshwari naan and garlic naan tandoori chicken comes with mixed grill was raw and garlic naan and peshwari naan was burnt tested disgusting it was horrible I also ordered chicken tikka masala chicken korma special biryani lamb korma fair to say they was okay I spent £39.60 and all I had terrible crap food . Won’t be ordering from viceroy again

Until Saturday 28th October 2017 this was my favourite Indian Restaurant. Ordered a takeaway of 1 chicken Korma, 1 Chicken Tikka masala, 1 meat balti, 2 naan 1 keema naan, 2 chips, 1 pilau rice and a chicken pakora starter. Total cost 31.00

We arrived at 9:50pm and we're seated and brought our food very quickly which was brilliant. Very good customer service, felt looked after and the restaurant decor was tasteful. Ordered 2 meat dishes and 2 vegetarian both were lovely. Especially liked the slate plates which were used to bring out the tikka masala and sizzling vegetable main. Little chocolates at end of meal were a nice touch. Didn't know about this place until now but will definitely be returning. Thanks :)

After my first few visits where in all fairness the food was lovely. I convinced my parents that this was the place to go for an amazing meal. Sadly I was hugely let down. After spending a large amount of money on numerous dishes, each and every one was a let down. The food was bland and just boring. Not sure if they have different chef's certain times of the week but as the title suggests, huge lack of consistency.

Visited on a family birthday soon as we arrived we were told sorry there's no high chairs not one , we all decided to go for the buffet option in all honesty the food was very tasty just runout very quickly with 19 of us in the party , in which five of us had to share plates as there were no more plates available , all credit goes to the chefs as food was nice , but front of house has faces like baboons bottoms .

My partner and I visited this evening and opted for the buffet option - the waiter didn't explain how the buffet operates and what dishes were included until we had to go up and ask. The dishes on offer were tasteless and some were barely warm and it wasn't until we left that it had a 2* Food Hygiene rating. I would not have eaten here had their rating been displayed more clearly and we certainly WON'T be returning. Poor food and even worse customer service. Perhaps the main menu food is better but we begrudged paying for the buffet. Safe to say we left very dissatisfied customers.

We been coming every Saturday for ha long has I can remember. We came the end of Juky a Saturday . The service was excellent and 7 off us had starters that we all really enjoyed. There was no rush between courses which we like . We had our main meal which was excellent we all really enjoyed our meals with great service good to see Sam has it back to how it was ! Great meal thank you.

He estado viniendo aquí durante cinco años y han publicado en tripadvisor en el pasado sobre experiencias positivas en este establecimiento, pero eso ha cambiado esta noche. Pedimos la comida no fue 100% de lo que en realidad pedimos. Falta de comida, mientras que otros alimentos que no había pedido estaba incluido! Además, el pollo en un determinado plato fue mucho más caliente de lo que normalmente es. Estoy mudando de la zona pronto y no puedo esperar a encontrar un establecimiento que recibe el orden justo el 100% del tiempo, o por lo menos admite que hace errores. . .

Each time I have visited the Viceroy it seems to get better every time. Sam the owner is very keen to introduce new dishes to the menu and will occasionally tell you of a new dish he is trying out. The curry's have more flavour and you can specify if what heat you would like. Keep up the good work Sam.

Visited here on Saturday evening..as usual great welcome & service from sam & his team. Very unsure what to choose...Sam picked us a great starter of paneer kebab. He made a special curry for my husband who doesn't like big pieces of onion peppers etc. A medium spiced sauce with no bits, full of flavour tandoori chicken and very morish.Topped of with a big fluffy naan bread and a cool glass of his finest pinot grigio and cool Bangla.. it's what the weekends are for.

Fabulous meal at the viceroy with my family, very attentive waiters all friendly and wanting to help. Sam provided us with our meals from the menu and as usual went that little bit further and cooked us a special extra which went down very well. Thanks Sam

have been using this establishment for the past twenty years and will not do so any longer. it has been lacking something for a long while now but is not totally and utterly clueless. food is not bad to be fair. is tasty and good but service is nothing short of disgraceful. had to go and ask for drinks. after starters our plates were not cleared i cleared our party of tens plates and put them on a adjacent tablewhilst a waiter watched. went and got clean cutlery off a table nearby for half our party who did not have any. cleared plates without even saying a word to us. asked for Bill they brought the bill put it down without a word. NEVER HAVE EXPERIENCED SUCH AERVICE LIKE IT!!! TERRIBLE!!!!

one of the best Indian takeaways I have had in a long time. The portion sizes are fab and the quality of the food is second to none. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody.

Just your average curry joint. Nothing exciting. Wouldn't recommend it to someone that hasn't tried it. Must point out that the hygiene rating is 2 which is classed as 'improvement necessary' and rightfully so it's 2017. I found the Cobra pint to be weak? Potentially watered down. Again just average from me.

Went on a Friday night. Sam is a great host. Food was superb. We had chicken tikka masala, a biriani and chicken tikka jalfrezi. All tasted fabulous and we were not rushed which was nice as it was a girlie catch up

Our take away was completely messed up, we made 2 trips to the Viceroy to sort our order out as food was missing, we had no idea what the intial 2 currys was as nothing was labelled and did not resemble what we ordered. We was even charged for the missing items even tho it was their fault!. The food recevied was not the best and everything went in the bin, we will not be ordering again.

Used to visit this restaurant some time ago. Decided to join a family visit on 21/2/17 for the buffet night. Reasonably busy but staff failing to refresh food as it ran out. Had to queue whilst awaiting refills. Also. naan bread arrived some 20mins after we took table. The real issue is that I contracted food poisoning after this meal. Headache, shivering, lethargy, diarrhea - the lot. Now, it is not possible to guarantee that this resturant was to blame, but having reviewed what I had eaten both before and after, I concluded that on the balance of evidence it was the Viceroy. It was apparent that the kitchen staff were under pressure and the turn-around of refills suggested that the chicken at least had been pre-cooked. I re-iterate that I cannot be certain that my food poisoning was a result of eating here but I do not intend to tempt fate with another visit.

Went for a family meal here last Saturday. The food and service was exceptional very nice curries to suit all tastes. The restaurant was very busy so would recommend booking on weekends. Well worth a visit

We had a takeaway from the Viceroy of India and opted for a set meal for 2. There was absolutely loads of food and it was delicious. The food was also very reasonably priced and we got given a complimentary bottle of pop which we weren't expecting. The staff were very friendly and our food arrived very quickly. I can't wait to go back and order again.

Another lovely meal now that Sam is back. Service is excellent, food is excellent and also the service. Dishes are well prepared and hot. Good vegetarian menu. New dishes added to the main menu. Buffet nights for all you can eat excellent.Lovely and clean and normal service has resumed.

I have always named this my top Indian with Sam at the helm.However my visit for the buffet was so poor l left refusing only to pay for our drinks.No Sam present tonight waited 20 minutes for order due to not knowing if we wanted menu or buffet another 10 minutes for drinks.Had to ask for plates to start the buffet.Lids off all dishes 4 onion barges in that tub salad looked lame one light under the rice.Myself and a couple asked when would some items be replenished the cocky thin waiter stated not till empty 3 potatoes in the bombay potatoe pot with 4 waiting to hsve some. His attitude stank.I will be seeing Sam to explain my walking out. Also the rudeness and poor excusses given as the couple sat by us also walked out.

We visited here on the 27th December. The food was ok but nothing special. The staff were lovely. Overall it was a nice experience.

Went to the Viceroy on Boxing Day and have to say it was excellent. Sam is back, been there for a while now. He has cleaned the place up and got the staff moving. Added a few different curries to the menu. Sam cooked our curries personally, and they were excellent. Made to our liking, garlic chilli chicken masalla creamy, lamb pathia with extra sauce for dipping the nan bread in and lamb rezala extra hot. The other day he made lamb chops 'Indian style' for us to try. Thinking of putting them on the menu. Good service, so glad Sam is back.

Another great meal, went bonfire night and seated straight away. Quick service, piping hot flavoursome food. The restaurant is spotless and the staff friendly and attentive.

Another great meal with sam & team.Busy for a Wednesday. Nothing is too much trouble. Public area are half way through a spruce up & looking good so far. Wouldn't have curry anywhere else.

itz sam the best the food is superb, there a wide selection on the menu including vegetarian and everything we had itz was delicious. the service was excellent all the staff were polite and friendly.i would highly recommend this restaurant

A regular visit to Viceroy as the food is so god, with regular change of the specials menu, to pique interest. The weekday buffet is great value, but you can always pick off the many options from the menu, to have something different to the mainstream favourites. Staff are friendly and attentive.

I came to the viceroy with my family and We had a very nice warm welcome, we was seated and We had the poppadum but was quiet annoyed when I saw the waiters standing around and nobody bothered to take my order , so finally after waiting quiet a long time my food finally came. I ordered the rangalli curry a tandoori mixed grill and keema naan it was very bland and had no taste to it my naan bread was burned hardly no meat inside and tasted awful my mixed grill was also bland and tasted different so it was quiet a let down and I am not satisfied at all and all I can say is it was very disappointed night for me.

Been eating here for 6 years x never had a bad meal x ate again tonight with my 2 children and again the service was excellent and the food was excellent x the restaurant was clean x friendly attentive staff x I would never have an Indian meal anywhere else x

Unlike the previous comment which was written in very poor broken English & having probably come from another restaurant in the area.I think Sam and the staff deserve an honest review, my family & I have been eating here for the last 15 or more years and love the food served and the warm welcome we always receive. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I used to be a regular customer at the viceroy but after it starting going down hill rapidly I stop going all together then I heard off many people that the restaurant is gone great again so I decided to visit the viceroy with my family and I Sat down at the table waiting for the menus and ordered our food, my favourite tandoori chicken tikka and my husband had his usual lamb vindaloo . We waited a very long time for our food to arrive and when it came it was severed by a different waiter not the one who took our order and I was so shocked as he got up close he smelled of weed definitely like somebody who smokes it very heavily anyway so I tasted the food and chicken was so bitter like if somebody had put half a bottle of lemon juice in it I was very upset at this point so as we left we complained and all we had was abuse and was told to leave I will never go back there again definitely not a family restaurant if they allow the waiter to smoke weed while on shift even tho the waiters were all looking smart in the new uniforms all I can say it's not gone great again it's exactly as poor as it was before nothing has improved I was absolutely disgusted and wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone save your money and go somewhere nicer nothing has changed here at all ...

After a busy day working, I was looking forward to a visit to my favourite takeaway near where I live and I was not disappointed. It was good to see that the boss, Sam, was back after being away for 20 months. I was offered poppadums while I waited and washed them down with a couple of Cobras. All in all a great experience - food was spot on.

Went there the other day , think it was a tuesday , had a very nice buffet styled meal , pleasant staff, nice drinks , altogether would go again.

I remember back to the days when owner sam ensured service was excellent. Visited tonight but was left very dissapointed. Food was good but service an absolute let down. Struggled to order drinks even more so second drinks. General service was just poor. Lots of staff around just not being attentive

Another fantastic meal tonight tried others in the village but as always Viceroy is outstanding. Flavourfull curry. rice packed with spice and flavour and my keema naan with loads of yummy keema. Love this restuatant. I would eat from here evrryday if i could. ****

Well having visited this establishment for many years I was intrigued to read some recent reviews which weren't so complimentary, however, as ever I wasn't disappointed, food was excellent, staff and service were impeccable, particularly Maz, who as ever was welcoming, to be fair exemplary in all aspects and I always say every picture tells s story, we walked In 8pm and only one table spare which we had, a full house and well deserved. Still undoubtedly the best Indian restaurant in South Wales.

Always come in here for family meals & always have amazing food your chicken tikka masala is amazing! The staff are always so friendly & lovely , the owner/manager is a legend he is so nice always pops over for a chat & is always smiling , highly recommend! Also buffet night is well worth it always leave on a very positive note everytime

Booked table for 13 terrible service waited an hour for food children chicken nuggets. Also service slow and food rubbish. Never again

Having a table at the Viceroy on Saturday night is a result but on Valentine's weekend we thought was brilliant.Unfortunately we were let down big time, after being showed to our table we were politely asked for our drinks order followed rapidly by a server asking for our order, not even asking if we were decided, anyway food order placed the starters were delivered quickly and were average fair Onion Bahjis, main course turned up 45 minutes later was at best tepid and lastly the cold plates turned up.I have been a fan of this Restaraunt for years but due to the poor service and lack of attention to detail will be giving it a miss in the future. I've had takeaways from here many many times over the last three and a half years - and have never been disappointed. I've ate for the third time in the restaurant recently and it was great!

i am regular at the viceroy but these last few weeks have gotten more poor i visited with my husband and as soon as we arrived the place the room was freezing cold no heating and me and my husband ordered our normal favorite mixed tandoori and garlic naan the chicken tikka was so watery and tasteless all you could taste was the red dye they use the naan bread was hard and burnt and i couldnt complain about our main curry as the lamb madras as it was beautiful, the one poor waiter looked like he ran the place as he run around doing everything definitely wont be back

me and my partner love a good curry the hotter the better.can not complain about the staff nice guys. starter the bombay chillie chicken was absolutly cooked perfect lush was lookin forward to the meal. naan bread was burnt main meal was suposed to be a chicken tikka madrass not kidding you tasted like eating an oxo cube. how can u go from cookin an amazin starter full of flavour and hot to sumthin that tasted like gone off gravey was brutaly honest with the owner told him straight the main was bad. he didnt seem to care will never eat here again

For the second time in recent months we have chosen to eat at the restaurant only to find that they don't appear to be terribly interested in your custom.The takeaway side seems to be flourishing but the sit down relaxing restaurant venture has slipped into apathy. The food is okay but nothing challenging and served with absolutely no finesse or enthusiasm.The business needs to have a real rethink about its direction both fiscally and culinary.

First time I had a takeaway from here and it will be the last. We had an English meal and the chips were half cooked, and the scampi was tough. The only thing that was okay was the vegetable curry sauce.

I haven't been to the Viceroy for nearly a year, but decided to give it another chance. Very friendly welcome, nice to see some of the familiar waiters there. The menu had a few changes to it. New curries which the waiters pointed out. We tried one of them and it was tasty and spicy. The food was very nice and came lovely and hot. Still missing Sam the original owner but overall we had a lovely night and great food.

We arrived at about 10.15 pm to find the restaurant empty and all the staff sat around chatting. The first thing I observed that the restaurant floor had crumbs and bits of food from previous dinners, couldn’t the waiters previously sat down clean this. Even though we were sat near a radiator unusual for me, I never felt warm enough to take my coat off.We waiters we had seemed too tired to open their mouths making understanding them very difficult. The food arrived or should I say the sauce arrived followed eventually by the meal, you would think with an empty restaurant the other waiters would have helps to ensure we had good service, or give the waiters trays after all it was only four dishes.No table warmers I can’t recall an Indian restaurant that doesn’t use these and a chipped plate, which they did replace. The food was tasteless, with the emphasise on quantity rather than quality, far too much for me and I have a healthy appetite.Getting waiters attention to pay the bill was only completed by me walking up to ask for it. One of the staff did get up from the jovial group to open the door for us and appeared very apologetic when he heard my distaste but in truth it was all too late.

Called in the viceroy on Halloween night for a treat as don't very often eat out we was very disappointed with the food and quality we normally have a takeaway which is always fine the starter was nice but the main tasted very sweet and like it was out of a jar the wine wasn't the best the waiter couldn't understand what we was saying he had to call another guy to assist. We have eaten here for over 15 years and never had a problem but someone said SAM has sold up and it's gone down hill so I'm not sure if this is the case but I won't be in a hurry to go back such a shame.

Visited with friends. Rang and was given a table at short notice on a busy Saturday night. Had poppadoms and chutney tray to start. Light and crispy -couldn't fault them. We all had different main courses and everyone in our party of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our meals.I had chicken tikka masala, it was perfect. Chunks of chicken breast marinated in a beautiful sauce. Sister in law had salmon-served on a fish shaped plated-cooked to perfection. Two chunks of Salmon-Juicy and not dry . The nan breads were light and crispy-perfect. We had chips, pilau rice and Bombay potato-again all tasty & good portion sizes. A good range of drinks available. Service was excellent. Would go as far as to say-our best Indian meal to date!

I have enjoyed all of my many previous visits here but tonight I was very disappointed with the service I received. There seems to be a noticeable lack of staff which has let customers down. We were left waiting for drinks and receiving our meals after eventually having our order taken. I noticed all the customers there tonight were made to wait while the single waiter tried to cover all the tables, this has put me off returning here so come on viceroy sort it out or you will lose more regular customers!!

Me and my family Visited the restaurant tonight and I can say how utterly disappointed we all are To be honest we expected quick friendly service but received the complete opposite the service was awful I waited 15 minutes just for my drinks order and it looked like there were only 2 waiters in the whole restaurant they desperately need more staff I was left feeling very upset for the money I paid the food was ok but I'd rather spend my money and go somewhere else
