Verdo Turkish BBQ in Edinburgh, City of

I have ordered mix grill for one, this all came complementary with my dish. I have not received the order yet, and got so full. Loved the experience ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Some of the best Turkish food I have eaten outside of Turkiye. Wine by the bottle was also some of the most affordable in this city. Would definitely go again.

Good food, reminded me of my hometown, Xinjiang, tho a little pricey. A friend of mine who went to turkey himself said their food is good as well, and he gave it 8/10 without considering the price~

Excellent. The tastes of each item was delicious. We can't believe how good it was. My wife and I have dined across the globe and these flavors absolutely stand out.

Really good Turkish food and what you want to expect from a Turkish restaurant. Food is fresh flavourful and juicy. I would recommend going for the special it comes with the mezzie starter and all meats and rice for mains.

I was attracted by the charcoal barbecue. I ordered the Iskender kebab made with Adana kebab rather than doner kebab because the chef told me that he was from Adana so I chose to trust it. The kebab was not Adana kebab, unseasoned, was not good and was bland. The meal however came with v good bread, salad, and 2 sides. The low standard was shown by the waitress and men in the back who I’d guess run it.

The food was absolutely insane. I have been here a few times and have ordered different items off the menu and none of them have disappointed. This is a must if you are in the area!

I would highly recommend the BBQ wings and mixed Kebab (chicken).

I recently visited this restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the very beginning. The reception was extremely poor, and there was no attention given to customers. We were asked to wait outside due to the crowd, without any apology or proper explanation from the staff. When we returned, there was no apology or even a simple thank you for our patience, as if this was completely normal. As for the food, while the quality was acceptable, the prices were unreasonably high for what the restaurant offers. Additionally, the attitude of the staff, especially the manager, was unprofessional, which made the experience even worse. Sadly, I don’t think I will be visiting again, nor would I recommend this place to anyone looking for good service and a pleasant dining experience.

A bad experience at this restaurant. The owner’s behavior was extremely inappropriate, and there wasn’t even a word of thanks while we waited. The food was acceptable, but the prices were high. I do not recommend this experience to anyone.

Food was very nice and so tasty! You get a bit the smell on your clothes and the waiters not always understand your order (we got sometimes more than asked). But we really enjoyed the food.. Super tasty!!!

All started fine. Order was taken, drinks were brought. Received starters then our waiter disappeared and was never seen again. We were not checked on again. When I asked what was happening, nobody knew anything. No apology. No trying to find out what happened. Nothing. Asked for the bill and left.

Just the best food that I ever had. Everything is tasty and perfect.

The food here is tremendous. Staff a polite and friendly and bar the cold sometimes it's a neighborhood favourite.

Fine Turkish dishes. We had the hot and cold mezze. The hot ones were all deep fried, which was a bit disappointing. The cold mezze was a selection of dips and flatbread, which were all tasty and refreshing. The main mixed meat platter was very good with all the meat tender and moist. The lamb chops could have benefited from less cooking though! The open barbecue is a bit of theatre, with some delicious smells and smoke. All in all it is a pretty good restaurant. It was mid-week in January and a bit quiet, and the staff really wished that they could go home! Thankfully they fed us, though, as we were hungry and polished off every dish.

I love dinner here - the food is freshly prepared, delicious, and it’s a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The price is v good value. Highly recommend!

I would give this around 4.6* but went for 5* as closer to 5*. The salad was really great. You got additional extras like mushrooms in a lovely sweet sauce, caramelised onions and a standard salad. Bread was really nice also. Mains- chicken wings and chicken shish was lovely. Staff- friendly and attentive. Quick service. Let downs- rice was overcooked unfortunately and chilli sauce was slightly watery. If these were slightly improved, it would be an easy 5/5*.

Hands down the best Turkish restaurant in Edinburgh. Don't ask questions just order the chefs special! The cold mese starters are soo tasty (the fresh cooked bread is insane) and the the meat platter with sides is massive and delicious. The prices are very reasonable and I doubt you will find another restaurant in Edinburgh (especially give today's prices) serving food as tasty with as large portions as here. Staff are also fantastic and we always have an amazing experience. Have been to this restaurant many times now and don't have a bad thing to say! Highly highly recommend giving them a try.

Went with my team to Verdo, for the second year in a row, that should say something, as it was the choice of the team. Food was delivered on time, they did their best to accommodate more people that showed last minute, and as last time food was delicious. I could recommend the Liver and the Iskender as it were my choices... Im a decent eater and portions were plenty. Would I recommend? For sure! Would I go again for the third year in a row? absolutely!

Verdo Turkish BBQ is a special place and it is definitely one I would highly recommend. The food here is amazing and the service is impeccable. Great spot to go with friends and family. We had the pleasure of dealing with Alex, he was amazing. He answered all questions with ease and looked after us throughout the whole meal. All the staff here at verdo are welcoming and will go the extra mile for your convenience. The benefit above all is that all the food is halal.

Verdo special (which feeds 4 nicely, Turkish food sometimes has insane portions) Well marinated, reasonably tender and not the most crispy but dusting spice is good for the meats. Rice is dry Mushroom was nice, grilled flatbread was rlly good and dips were solid too. Tomato sauce was properly spicy, yoghurt dip was fine too. Take note this is all part of the verdo special.

We got the £28 Chef’s special and the food was truly delicious. Great value for me, very generous portions. The service was prompt and excelled, friendly staff. We also enjoyed the music and the atmosphere at Verdo. It has now become a favourite and we will bring family and friends here. Thank you so much for this superb meal! See you soon :)

Visiting from the US and went to this place based off a recommendation (from Millers Sandwiches, which was also great!). It did not disappoint! Service was very attentive and it was such a friendly familial atmosphere. The staff recommended the Verdo Special and it was such a large platter of an absolutely. delicious assortment of lamb, chicken, rice, vegetables, and sauces. That, paired with wine and the vine leaf wraps, made such a great experience. 11/10

The food was overpriced, and the owner displayed greedy and pushy behavior, repeatedly insisting that we should order more. Despite already spending over £100 on our meal, we were met with a disappointing and disgusting attitude when we packed up the leftovers in his presence. Truly unacceptable behavior. We have ordered enough food, and it seems your focus is on maximizing profits by counting charges per person. Your response reflects poorly on your understanding of customer relationships. As a paying customer, I am fully aware of how much food is sufficient for my needs. Your reply is both unreasonable and unprofessional.

I recently visited Verdo with my family and placed our usual order. However, while ordering, the staff member taking our order began insisting that we needed to order more food. Despite explaining that we were satisfied with what we had already chosen, they continued pressuring us to add more items. This persistent behavior felt intrusive, offensive, and left us feeling quite unsettled. It was, without a doubt, my worst experience not only at Verdo but among all my dining experiences to date. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and has left a negative impression on what should have been an enjoyable outing. “I must say that the food was good as always”

Absolutely superb food yet again. Chefs special always plentiful and really tasty, Myself and my mate took my daughter for her birthday and she too loved it. Service exceptional as ever too. Just a really good restaurant. Laid back and very friendly. 10 out of 10 and will continue to go back.

The Best Turkish BBQ I've ever had, I go almost every week!

Food is really good but unfortunately the service lets them down. The guy serving us for some reason had an aggressive ‘jokey’ attitude/behaviour which we found disrespectful & rude as we were new customers just wanting to catch up over some dinner. It’s the similar patronising & aggressive attitude that some men give out to women but they may intend it to come across as playful. They did not treat our male friend like this at all. When they realised we weren’t having it, they course-corrected. In hindsight, we probably shouldn’t have paid the service charge (which is optional).

Turkish grill restaurant. The service is excellent and fast. The kebab is grilled in front of you. There is nothing other than kebab of all kinds with rice. We thank the employee, Girlie, for her hospitality.

They have delicious grilled chicken

It seems they have an unwritten policy requiring customers to order main courses in order to be served. Our group of five adults and two children gathered for a get-together with friends and family, and some of us, who weren’t hungry (even though the place was half empty), were refused service for starters because we were told mains had to be ordered with them. This was despite the fact that the starters we planned to order cost more than the mains. This was the first time we encountered such bizarre and poor service. When we asked them to show us this policy, explaining that we wouldn’t have come if we’d known, they couldn’t produce it, and it wasn’t written anywhere. Additionally, when we commented on this experience and ordered a kids’ meal that included ice cream, they attempted to make up for it by saying the ice cream was on the house, even though it was already included in the kids’ menu we ordered. We probably won’t return.

Visited a few months back with a friend… generous starter portions (with selection of salad & dips) , tasty and fresh food. Going back again at end of the week with my friend ! So far it’s the best Turkish food I’ve had in Edinburgh. Liked the sweet touch of Turkish delight on cocktail sticks served on a plate with the bill (which was in a lovely wooden jewellery case).
