Verdo Turkish BBQ is a special place and it is definitely one I would highly recommend. The food here is amazing and the service is impeccable. Great spot to go with friends and family. We had the pleasure of dealing with Alex, he was amazing. He answered all questions with ease and looked after us throughout the whole meal. All the staff here at verdo are welcoming and will go the extra mile for your convenience. The benefit above all is that all the food is halal.

Verdo special (which feeds 4 nicely, Turkish food sometimes has insane portions) Well marinated, reasonably tender and not the most crispy but dusting spice is good for the meats. Rice is dry Mushroom was nice, grilled flatbread was rlly good and dips were solid too. Tomato sauce was properly spicy, yoghurt dip was fine too. Take note this is all part of the verdo special.

We got the £28 Chef’s special and the food was truly delicious. Great value for me, very generous portions. The service was prompt and excelled, friendly staff. We also enjoyed the music and the atmosphere at Verdo. It has now become a favourite and we will bring family and friends here. Thank you so much for this superb meal! See you soon :)

The food was overpriced, and the owner displayed greedy and pushy behavior, repeatedly insisting that we should order more. Despite already spending over £100 on our meal, we were met with a disappointing and disgusting attitude when we packed up the leftovers in his presence. Truly unacceptable behavior. We have ordered enough food, and it seems your focus is on maximizing profits by counting charges per person. Your response reflects poorly on your understanding of customer relationships. As a paying customer, I am fully aware of how much food is sufficient for my needs. Your reply is both unreasonable and unprofessional.

Visiting from the US and went to this place based off a recommendation (from Millers Sandwiches, which was also great!). It did not disappoint! Service was very attentive and it was such a friendly familial atmosphere. The staff recommended the Verdo Special and it was such a large platter of an absolutely. delicious assortment of lamb, chicken, rice, vegetables, and sauces. That, paired with wine and the vine leaf wraps, made such a great experience. 11/10

I recently visited Verdo with my family and placed our usual order. However, while ordering, the staff member taking our order began insisting that we needed to order more food. Despite explaining that we were satisfied with what we had already chosen, they continued pressuring us to add more items. This persistent behavior felt intrusive, offensive, and left us feeling quite unsettled. It was, without a doubt, my worst experience not only at Verdo but among all my dining experiences to date. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and has left a negative impression on what should have been an enjoyable outing. “I must say that the food was good as always”

Absolutely superb food yet again. Chefs special always plentiful and really tasty, Myself and my mate took my daughter for her birthday and she too loved it. Service exceptional as ever too. Just a really good restaurant. Laid back and very friendly. 10 out of 10 and will continue to go back.

The Best Turkish BBQ I've ever had, I go almost every week!

Food is really good but unfortunately the service lets them down. The guy serving us for some reason had an aggressive ‘jokey’ attitude/behaviour which we found disrespectful & rude as we were new customers just wanting to catch up over some dinner. It’s the similar patronising & aggressive attitude that some men give out to women but they may intend it to come across as playful. They did not treat our male friend like this at all. When they realised we weren’t having it, they course-corrected. In hindsight, we probably shouldn’t have paid the service charge (which is optional).

Turkish grill restaurant. The service is excellent and fast. The kebab is grilled in front of you. There is nothing other than kebab of all kinds with rice. We thank the employee, Girlie, for her hospitality.

They have delicious grilled chicken

It seems they have an unwritten policy requiring customers to order main courses in order to be served. Our group of five adults and two children gathered for a get-together with friends and family, and some of us, who weren’t hungry (even though the place was half empty), were refused service for starters because we were told mains had to be ordered with them. This was despite the fact that the starters we planned to order cost more than the mains. This was the first time we encountered such bizarre and poor service. When we asked them to show us this policy, explaining that we wouldn’t have come if we’d known, they couldn’t produce it, and it wasn’t written anywhere. Additionally, when we commented on this experience and ordered a kids’ meal that included ice cream, they attempted to make up for it by saying the ice cream was on the house, even though it was already included in the kids’ menu we ordered. We probably won’t return.

Visited a few months back with a friend… generous starter portions (with selection of salad & dips) , tasty and fresh food. Going back again at end of the week with my friend ! So far it’s the best Turkish food I’ve had in Edinburgh. Liked the sweet touch of Turkish delight on cocktail sticks served on a plate with the bill (which was in a lovely wooden jewellery case).

This restaurant is recommended for kebab dishes. I live in Edinburgh and have been going to this restaurant for the past 10 years, serving Middle Eastern cuisine (Turkish cuisine to be exact).They serve authentic charcoal grilled lamb and chicken kebabs. If you order a main dish, you will receive a free side dish such as salad, charcoal-grilled mushrooms and onions, or onion salad, so it is enough for one or two people to order just one main dish each. The main dish also comes with rice and bread. The bread is grilled on top of the meat, so the meat juices and the flavor of the charcoal seep into it, making it very delicious. Single lamb kebabs and lamb chops are good, but if you want to enjoy a variety of things, we recommend mixed kebabs. It comes with lamb kebab, chicken kebab, lamb chops, and adana (a kind of hamburger steak made with lamb and spices, very delicious). They also serve wine at a low price. If you come to Edinburgh, give it a try at least once.

The hummus was great and don’t get me started with the lamb ribs 🤤 Portions are generous and they come accompanied with bread, salad and rice. The quality and flavour is unmatched. His food is good, but his behavior is very bad. The restaurant manager won't help you if you die On top of this, he demanded, otherwise you ask for a second type, it is not obligatory, and when the order comes, all of them are the same as each other, he said this with sauce, and this without knowing that the second type is different as the price on the menu, but put it the same as the second at the same price 🙁 The pressure increases knowingly, and I say the word, “May God hold me accountable for it.” They repeat, “Whoever enters is wearing a veil,” and if You are an Arab, and the one with the Turks has hateful looks, and may God eat it with his eyes, you are racist and rude.

A well-run, authentic Turkish-style store. The portions are super generous (the complimentary appetizers are very appetizing), and the meat and pancakes are grilled over charcoal fire, which is so rare that you can smell the aroma as you pass by the door. I ordered two special dishes for the staple food, and the seasonings were surprising, creating a taste not found in other barbecue restaurants. There are also easter eggs in the post-dinner bill section!

Came here after reading all the reviews. Did not disappoint, nice wee venue, service really good, reasonably priced. Food absolutely delicious! They were actually turning folk away as it was fully booked, so that tells a story. Doesn't look much from outside, but i can guarantee you will have the most authentic and delicious turkish food.

Excellent food, top notch BBQ but extremely awful customer service!! We went in just after 5.30pm on a Friday night. Restaurant was 40% full. Was quickly shown to the table. The server took our order was cold, but the food came very quickly. The kebab and lamb ribs we ordered were wonderful. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Towards the end, I went to the toilet. Outside the toilet, I was asked rudely if I have finished. At the same time, without me knowing, they also asked my wife at the table and attempted to clear the dishes at the same time. While the server was doing that, she asked "bill yeah?" and turned away. My wife didn't have time to answer. On my return to the table, the bill was already on the table. We haven't even finished our drinks, she brought the card machine twice to urge us to pay. It wasn't even 90mins since we entered the door, and we weren't told that we needed to vacate by certain time. We were annoyed, so finished our drinks quickly, paid and then leave. We understand Friday nights are busy. We didn't even take our time unnecessarily. That was very unprofessional and have ruined our evening. It's a shame cos the food was very delicious. But it is not the only good Turkish restaurant in town. There are other choices. We won't be back!

The food is really excellent, for £20 the quantities are copious. The BBQ meat is delicious, you have an assortment of fresh and grilled vegetables, bread also cooked over charcoal which is excellent, in short you will get your money's worth and you will eat very well! I recommend this restaurant.

Great busy small, but loads of atmosphere. Good quality and large portions especially the Verdi Special for two. The only thing that spoils it slightly is customers leaving the door open, not the restaurants fault.

My recent experience left a bitter taste in my mouth, overshadowing any semblance of culinary delight with its blatant display of racism and utter disregard for customer satisfaction. Upon entering the establishment, I couldn't help but notice the staff's suspicious glances exchanged amongst themselves. Despite my attempt to extend a friendly inquiry about our welcome, their demeanor remained frosty and unwelcoming. We opted for the Iskandar from the Verdo special section and the Lab ribs from the Charcoal special, enticed by the promise of rice, salad, and Turkish bread accompanying each dish. However, when our order arrived, it was glaringly incomplete, lacking the essentials as advertised. When I sought clarification from the staff, I was met with hostility and raised voices, a shocking display of unprofessionalism. Seeking resolution, I requested to speak with the manager, only to be met with further disappointment. The manager's response was not only dismissive but veered into the realm of gaslighting, denying the very existence of the menu descriptions. Such blatant deceit only underscores the toxic culture pervading this restaurant. What truly appalled me was the manager's 24-year tenure in the industry, marred by an appalling lack of respect and decency. His refusal to acknowledge our concerns and engage in a civilian dialogue is a testament to the restaurant's systemic issues. It's no wonder that amidst the chaos, the one-star reviews I've stumbled upon echo sentiments of racism and discrimination. While the cuisine may tantalize the taste buds, it pales in comparison to the importance of basic human decency and respect. If Verdo hopes to salvage any semblance of dignity, it must confront its ingrained racism and prioritize training its staff in the principles of inclusivity and respect. Until then, I dont recommend this to anyone!

My favourite restaurant in edinburgh and I've been coming here since 2015. No other Turkish restaurant compares to verdo. the chicken shish,lamb shish are my favourites and are perfectly cooked with a charcoal taste.this is complimented perfectly with lovely bread,salad and rice . Authentic and superb in every way . 100% Highly recommended

We got a warm welcome and ordered our food. There is not a massive choice lamb or chicken but what you get is delicious. You get a really large portion of rice which a lot gets wasted. The salad and dips were really nice and we got a lovely cup of Turkish tea at the end.
